Zocdoc knowingly sends therapists referrals they know the therapist cannot see just to charge them for the referrals, with no benefit to the therapist. They routinely send Medicaid patients to non-Medicaid providers knowing that non-Medicaid providers cannot see Medicaid patients, even out of pocket or out of network. They are aware that these clients cannot be seen by these therapists, but send them anyway and charge the therapist. This is misleading to the patients looking for therapy who end up not being able to be seen by the therapist they are sent to and is completely unethical considering they are knowingly charging therapists for client referrals or as they call it "marketing" that they know cannot result in any revenue for the therapist. DO NOT LIST YOUR PRACTICE WITH THEM!
Zocdoc is the only entity in this relationship that makes money. They make money off of providers. They will send the wrong patient to the wrong providers for the wrong service and still charge you for the referrals. They will charge you for a referrals, even when these clients do not establish care with you. When you receive a sticker shock of the bill they sent you they refuse to work with you on a reasonable payment plan. You have two choices, which is to either pay the entire balance in full within two months or to pay it back in three very large installments. You are expected to pay for services you didn't receive. ZocDoc takes zero accountability and will instead dig their heels in on what their company policy is. Do not use them as a referral service unless you want to lose money!
10+ years with My Chart, a patient oriented item. Covers about anything a User/ Patient will need. Moved & now have ZocDoc, provider oriented item. DISAPPOINTED! Zocdoc does little more than find/ book a doctor--use 1 time & bug that you need provider services, full checkup, skin screening, dental, vision check which have nothing directly to do with my case. Don't like the 2 factor authorization to phone to log in--means I have to find my glasses & phone. Zocdoc mainly for providers, minimally for patients.
ZocDoc is running an unscrupulous business and ripping people off. I have never seen anything like it. I contact the merchant multiple times to explain the situation which is very obvious however the deceptive and conniving tactic is so aggressive that they keep changing the goal post and go against their own no charge policy to steal money from people using their platform. Despite all my efforts explaining the obvious to them, they charged $560. The booking were made and canceled whiting 24 hours thus not charged should be made because ZocDoc cancellation policy clearly states that not charge apply if the booking is cancelled whiting 24 hours and that is what those people did cancel whiting hours. I handle the case filling the instructions of your representative. Some of the clients were seeking for services I don't even provide. I wasted a lot of time explaining to ZocDoc. Very disappointed. Will file a lawsuit in the civil court if you insist with the charge.
As a healthcare provider, my experience with Zocdoc has been frustrating and disappointing. While the platform promises to help with patient scheduling and visibility, the reality for providers is far from ideal.
Major Issues:
False Reviews and No Effective Support: One of the most concerning issues with Zocdoc is the inability to get false or misleading reviews removed. Despite providing clear evidence that contradicts a patient's claims, Zocdoc has been unresponsive and unwilling to intervene. This leaves providers vulnerable to damage from malicious or dishonest reviews, which can significantly impact their reputation.
Unresponsive Customer Support: When issues arise, particularly with patient interactions or false reviews, Zocdoc's support is either slow or unhelpful. There is a lack of direct support for providers, and the platform offers no real mechanism to address disputes or concerns effectively. Providers are left to fend for themselves with minimal assistance.
Lack of Transparency and Fairness: The review and moderation process on Zocdoc is opaque and heavily favors patients without consideration for provider context. There is no clear way to dispute unfair reviews, and the process for handling these issues is frustratingly convoluted. As a result, providers are at the mercy of a system that doesn't adequately protect them.
Patient Expectations Are Often Misaligned: Many patients expect immediate responses or overestimate what a provider can do in a limited visit. This can lead to misunderstandings, and Zocdoc offers no support in managing or mitigating these expectations, leaving providers to handle dissatisfied patients on their own.
Conclusion: Zocdoc is a platform that places the burden entirely on providers without offering meaningful support in return. The lack of fair review moderation and poor customer service makes it difficult to recommend this platform to other healthcare professionals. If you're considering joining, be prepared for frustration and minimal assistance when issues arise.
I would not recommend Zocdoc to fellow providers until these issues are addressed. The platform needs a complete overhaul in terms of support, review moderation, and fairness for healthcare professionals.
I drove 45 minutes to my appt, arrived and the office said this doctor is not accepting new patients and would need to reschedule me. I scheduled through ZocDoc for the first time and it will also be the last time! With gas in CA being $6.25 a gallon a round trip 90 min drive to not even get your appointment is not my idea of a well run company. I called them and they told me there was nothing they could do! I'm beyond irritated and highly disappointed in this "company" … never again!
I am the marketing coordinator at a general surgery practice and we used Zocdoc for a short period of time. It was a huge waste of $700 on it. Even if patients do not cancel their appointments, the office still got charged $70 per appointment made. This is outrageous considering it should be helping physicians and surgeons be successful in their practice. If a patient doesn't come in, they don't care and don't take responsibility and charge your practice regardless. They should set up a better system where we can verify the patient did or did not come to the scheduled visit so they can at least return a portion of the $70 back. They were unwilling to help us or understand our issue. It's completely ridiculous and not worth it. It is only built to help patients but not for the doctors who are trying to serve them.
Hi Andrea! We are sorry to hear that Zocdoc did not work for your practice. We have a dedicated service team that you can call at 866-962-3621 and we can look for ways to ensure your account is set up for success. Please know, that Zocdoc is a marketing service, and the cost per booking includes an expected level of cancellations or no-shows. Zocdoc is not a referral service, and we are not able to adjust or remove booking fees based on the success of the booking. As a marketing company, we can help you set up your account so that you can set an amount per month you would be comfortable paying for marketing regardless of appointment outcome. We look forward to speaking with you soon!
I am a provider who has been using Zocdoc for over 3 years. They are a terrible company to deal with as a health care provider. I don't recommend them and they treat their doctors horribly. If I could give 0 stars I would have. I do not recommend Zocdoc.
Hi John! I'm very sorry to hear about your experience with Zocdoc. As a provider, you have a dedicated Service Team that would be happy to help you with any questions or concerns you may have. Please give us a call at 866-962-3621 so we can discuss this further and provide you with a resolution. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
$#*! this website. Several appointments that I booked, it claimed my insurance was in network when in fact it wasn't at all. Had to pay out of pocket and not continue with any of the providers I was recommended. I need help. I'm still looking for care. All this website has done is provided false hope, wasted my $#*!ing time and money. Never using it again.
Hi Greg. I am very sorry to hear this was your experience. All providers on our platform have full control over their insurance lists and actually guarantee this information. It is the practice's responsibility to keep this accurate. Please reach out to us so we can follow up with these offices directly. We can be reached at service@zocdoc.com or at (855) 962-3621.
Billing mistakes and unauthorized direct withdrawals. They politely apologize for the mistake which is in $1000 dollar increments, and nothing is done to correct it. You are required to call again and again. Contacting customer support is both draining and time consuming. Definitely not the greatly successful company as advertised. Very difficult to get in touch with a supervisor and when possible they are uninformed and want to re-invent the wheel.
Their model is not the best as it is delegates no responsibility to the patient for 'no shows' or misrepresentation of the insurance information, and the physician is charged for the booking regardless if they are able to see the patient or not.
Hi Inas! We're so sorry to hear that your experience utilizing Zocdoc is anything other than seamless. Our Service Team are the experts on all things policy and billing related and I encourage you to give them a call at a time that works best for you. We are available 365 days a year Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm EST and Saturday-Sunday, 9am-6pm EST. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
They are a scam. They confirmed that the doctor was in network and that I would only pay $20. Then they charged me over $400 for the full payment and said that the doctor was not in network. Complete fraud.
Hi Dennis! We are sorry to hear about your experience with this provider. This is not how Zocdoc is intended to work. We understand that receiving an out-of-network bill can be overwhelming, and we would like to investigate this matter for you. Our providers have complete control over the information they list on their profiles, including the insurance plans they indicate as in-network. We expect all information to be accurate and for providers to provide you with an in-network experience if that's what they advertising. Please call us at (855) 962-3621 so that we can gather more information from you and ensure that this issue is resolved appropriately. We are available 365 days a year Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm EST and Saturday-Sunday, 9am-6pm EST. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
This has been the most awful company I have every worked with, People send requests not in the right state, or never fill out intakes or submit ID's or no show and it COST YOU 70.00!
It is so wild. I would never in one million dollars ever ever associate or share with the company again.
Hi there Sarah! Thanks so much for providing us with your feedback. Zocdoc is a paid marketing platform for providers, and our pricing was determined by a valuation study conducted by a reputable third party for the types of services Zocdoc is providing to them. This study factored in market rates for similar services, including average no-show rates. Providers also have multiple options to ensure that this platform as beneficial as possible for them. We'd like the chance to connect directly to learn more about your experience. Please give us a call at (866) 962-3621 or email us at Service@Zocdoc.com if you'd like to discuss this any further.
At first, when signing up, the app is pretty easy to get through but, the app has issues when it comes to being intuitive and easy to follow. It's super clunky. I had no clue on how this app was supposed to work after setting up the appointment. It was frustrating as I have used similar apps that had a much smoother UI experience from start to finish. I went from setting up my appointment to getting a calendar invite and no way to start the video session, if any. Such a horrible app.
Providers are billed $67 for each appointment made. This is even if the patient does not show or cancels the appointment after 24 hours.
LESS than half our patients from ZOCDOC do not come in and this raises the cost to over $150 per new patient. Insurance reimbursement is less than this and we lose money on each patient we see.
Changes to our service can only be made thru our Account Manager who has no phone number or email address. Messages left to him do not get returned.
CANCEL YOUR ZOCDOC ACCOUNT - you will get home earlier and have more money.
Hi Harold! Thank you for your feedback. I'm so sorry that you have not heard back from your account manager. This is not indicative of the service Zocdoc strives to provide. We have a dedicated Service Team that you can reach out to! We would be happy to assist you with your account to ensure it is optimized and set up for success. Please keep in mind that the fee is not dependent on the outcome of the appointment; in other words, it is not a charge per successful appointment like you would see for a referral site, it is a charge based on a successful new patient booking generated by our marketing efforts on the Zocdoc site. As a marketing company, we can help you set up your account so that you can set an amount per month you would be comfortable paying for marketing. Please give us a call at 866-962-3621. We look forward to speaking with you soon!
Good on the whole, but ZocDoc keeps getting my gender and city of residence wrong after I edit corrections.
Also the notifications could do with one or two fewer.
Otherwise I like it! Thanks for all your effort.
Hi John,
We are so sorry you are having some trouble with the information in your profile. Please give us a call at (855) 962-3621 and we would be happy to look into this for you.

Great app, very user friendly. Clean layout/flow, nice color scheme, great quality doctors and decent selection.
Two areas of improvement:
1. Adding more doctors
2. Love the text reminder feature, please add a google map link in addition to the phone #.
ZocDoc allows me to make appointments without having to listen to a laundry list of options before talking with someone. And if there is ever the slightest problem, not even ZocDoc's fault, they send an email apology right away. Once I even received a small gift certificate for Amazon. It's really a good service!
Ridiculously pushy, unrelenting sales force that uses every ruse to obtain doctors private phone lines and emails, then falsely claims they were referred by another doctor, etc. I am a physician, I would not recommend this service to anyone. This is a bad business.
I already have online scheduling tools available through my electronic medical record and a reputable professional consortium.
I think that it's a great idea however insurances offer almost the same services. This app did not have Doctors in my area(San Antonio, TX). The app referred me to Austin, TX. So it was no use to me. It needs to be more established. I would assume Dr's would want to be listed but they don't even care about their current patients. Having a debilitating illness and having to work through Dr; s is a death sentence. I'm surprised there isn't anymore backlash about them not catching it in time. They would rather push pills and kick you out of the office in 15 minute intervals than find the problem so why would they take the time to do a courtesy and sign up at ZocDoc and make it easier for us?
Hi Diane,
We are so sorry you were having trouble finding doctors in your area. We are still growing, and adding new doctors every day, so hopefully we will have more for you soon. Please give us a call at (855) 962-3621 if we can ever help you do a search.

As we all know, finding medical providers who accept certain insurance plans can be a headache. ZocDoc has made this process much easier. What I would like to see you do, however, is to provide more information about particular providers so that people using your site can make informed decisions before making appointments. On two separate occasions, the information provided about a doctor did not fully represent either their services or what sort of insurance they actually take. For example, I recently went to a doctor who was listed by ZocDoc to be in my plan. When I arrived I was told that the practice (or two of the eleven doctors) "accepted" my insurance, but only as out-of-network. Had I known this when making my appointment, I would have looked at other doctors.
Answer: Hello Mark. Zocdoc offers a closed-loop review system that allows patients to share their experiences after being seen for an appointment booked on Zocdoc. These reviews can be found on each individual provider's Zocdoc profile. You can search for a provider at https://www.zocdoc.com/. Please let us know if we can help you find the care that you need or if there is a different set of reviews that you are trying to access at this time. You can reach our service team at (855)962-3621.
Answer: Hi Sandra, we hope that you were able to get the care that you were looking for. At Zocdoc, we are not able to offer any medical advice or guidance so we recommend you contact your doctor directly if you need to ever verify they will be able to provide the treatment you are looking for. Feel free to reach out to the Zocdoc team at (855) 962-3621 or service@zocdoc.com if there is anything we can do to help you find the care that you need.
Answer: Yes, prices appear to be around $44-180 now. Offices get charged this even for cancellations, no-shows, and fake bookings. Zocdoc has no built in protections to negate this type of booking behaviors. Why would they when they profit off it? Zocdoc also prohibits practices from talking about this fee as it violates their "community standards."
Answer: Hello Swetha. Thanks for reaching out. We'd love to help you find a doctor and book an appointment right online. If you go to www.Zocdoc.com, you can search for doctors by specialty, location, and insurance. You'll be able to see a list of doctors and their availability. Once you select a doctor, you can choose the time that is best for you. Once you complete the booking process, the doctor will receive your appointment information and confirm your appointment via email. This is completely free for you as a patient. Please give us a call at (855) 962-3621 if you need help with this or anything else!
Answer: Hi Amanda! That depends on the doctor's office! Every provider is different, so it would be best to get in touch with them about specific pricing information. Give us a call at 855-962-3621 if you have any other questions. In health, Mary M. Zocdoc Service Team
Answer: Hi Mallory! Thanks for your question! You can see a provider's reviews by viewing the full profile and scrolling down. All of the reviews will be listed there toward the left side of the page. Give us a call at (855) 962-3621 if you are having any trouble! In health, Mary M. Zocdoc Service Team
Zocdoc has a rating of 2.6 stars from 1,426 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Zocdoc most frequently mention doctors office, insurance company and new patient. Zocdoc ranks 1st among Doctor Reviews sites.
Hi there! We are sorry to hear that this was your experience using our platform. All providers choose what information to add to their profile, so there is no reason this should have happened. Providers actually guarantee their information listed and this is something we take very seriously. It sounds like you already let us know about this so we could follow up with the provider, but please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with at (855) 962-3621.
