Zillow is a Fraud
April 26, 2017

Plain and simple, this company is a fraud. They make up prices in order to induce people to put their homes up for sale. Then they refer the leads to brokers who pay them a fee. If this does not work, they restate your estimated home price and rewrite the history so it never shows the inflated prices that once were on their site. If you read the other reviews you will see that they also take advantage of realtors. There is no moral compass at this company. It all stems from the "tone at the top".

Zillow's guidelines do not permit reviews of realtors that you may deal with and either reject or deal with indirectly, such as a realtor selling a home nearby (who may create problems for nearby homes) or one who acts unethically or unfairly when representing the other party to your real estate transaction. Their rule seems to be do not comment on a realtor unless they represented you directly and you happy with them. No wonder so many realtors, buyers, sellers and renters di not take Zillow's ratings and data seriously. In short, they only accept biased ratings.

After writing a review on this site about Zillow last year, I have read many reviews that agree with my consensus. This company is totally irresponsible in it's business practices, answers to no one, and has hurt many people who try to sell their homes for fair prices. I agree with the person who suggested a class action suite against them. No one should have to deal with a company like this pretending they know your house, and it's worth. Just like the bogus credit score system, zillow is not reliable, and costs people a lot of lost money.

Zillow is completely off the mark. It also seems to cater to the banks, brokers and the builders. I think the public should lodge a complaint with their state's attorneys since it is erroneously misrepresenting their properties with an algorithm or more accurately, a robot. A class action action suit is necessary for them to stop ruining possible real estate transactions and embellishing others. How legitimate can they be when they do not even answer phone calls or emails?

Zillow is not even worth one Star it is such a pathetic source for values. Hopefully buyers and sellers both realize that fact and pay no attention to their values. Lowered the value of my house $40,000 in 3 days without any changes to the property in a major national boom area.

Don't just give a bad review, file complaint with Trade Commission. Zillow does serious harm to people. With me Zillow publishes their market value of our home-for-lease at $2,900 per month, when it is currently rented for $5,800 and has been appraised at $6,900! Yet they claim "it is just an estimate" and that they have no way to correct it. Apparently their employees are mindless automatons serving an algorithm. It is not just an estimate, it is a misleading published valuation of a private asset. Trade Commission, now. Get rid of these morons/crooks.

I used to love Zillow when the site started. But now it is becoming a predatory internet scam site. We have rentals and are always full because we have such great prices, so I was shocked when I recently posted a rental on Zillow and they placed an estimate 30% below our rental price. I contacted them asking to change their assessment and even gave them comps in the area showing that we were well priced and got a lame response about their algorithms. I tried repeatedly to show them they were wrong and nothing happened. Back to Craigslist I guess!

What A JOKE
July 24, 2017

I hate that they will not set up their search engine to be more specific. I have very specific criteria for the next house but zillow.com like realtor.com and all the others will not narrow down sufficiently. If I plug in 2+ bedrooms because I have no intention of even looking at any more than a 3 bedroom home and all they show me is 5 bedrooms, 6 bedrooms then I am done. Those sites all need to be redesigned 100%, photos need to be MUCH better, and information about realtors more complete.

I'd give zillow 0 stars if i could. They keep listing empty lots and trashed out little homes as comps to my luxury log cabin 6 bed, 6.5 bath with indoor pool overnight rental. They won't change it and tell me to edit the facts BUT They don't give me access to get into edit facts! They are misleading and their new algorithm is clueless and wrong.

My home was listed for $735,000 sold for $720,000. Zillow had value at more than 20% below selling price. They began to increase vale but never reached sale price. We have tried through our agent to get Zillow to show that the t home sold on June 24 2016 but when I opened Zillow I saw the sale update but in a Few seconds the page went back to the old price and says it is for sale. Trulia is not as bad but still way behind realtor.com and Lyon.

Their game is smoke and mirrors. $2,500 minimum monthly fees for realtors to get their face up on the site - They list the realtors that pay them so that buyers think that they are the contact for the property. It's completely misleading and starts your relationship with new clients off on a lie.

Don't do it I say! You will better spend your marketing dollars elsewhere.

Zillow emailed me back rejecting my honest review of a realtor I worked with. Turns out this realtor has nothing but 5 star reviews. This leads me to believe that reviews less than 5 stars are not posted in order to support the realtors. Highly unprofessional! I will also note these reviews were spread out over a long period of time. Likely many more were rejected.

Don't waste your time. The only sure thing about Zillow is every realtor in the country will get your information and phone you daily. For the buy owner Zillow doesn't work.
Its a gateway to realtors not buyers.

Bizarre Business
March 2, 2020

Zillow made a significant ad mistake.
There was no customer service whatsoever. Multiple attempts with their own report link and calls (always voice mail). It was never fixed. They removed the real estate ad. That was their fix

Had a bad experience with this site after requesting our home be removed as it was no longer for sale. Not only did they not honor my request 3 days later our homes value had dropped 20,000 on their site, please beware they are unethical and have cost homeowners money. Our home remains their site 3 years after we bought it the deserted older home on 3 acres next door is valued 60,000 more than our newly built in 2017 home on 6 acres. Avoid this site at all cost please.

Zillow has been showing values in our neighborhood going up. However recently they have showed the value of our house going down and every house around us going up. Dont get it we own and maintain our house and is the best looking house on the block, landscaped, New 50 year roof, wood floors and tile downstairs, painted inside etc. But they are saying rent houses values with none of this are valued a lot higher than ours. Something is wrong with this website don't believe what they write.

Zillow rental is almost fake and full of wrong information no customer service putting a unauthorized listing when you try to contact phone number is not works even one time I found a listing under company name after so many stamps no response as a result I call the company the company denied and said we are not in rental business. Even the listing agents do all the illegal way to rent the property even against the Zillow basic leasing law. I personally complain many time against the listing agents, They don't care about it. Now recently they put a eviction on my record and no one is there to fix the problem. It's sounds to me ion US any one can do any thing against you

I listed a second home for sale in Charlotte NC on Zillow. Because I lived 30 miles away I thought an internet listing would be a challenge... but with the help of Zillow's market assessment and other data I set a moderate-to-slightly-higher asking price... I committed to twice weekly open house showings... I spent time writing an effective narrative description of the unique assets of my house and its location... I worked to create good street appeal and I had effective signage. In just over 3 weeks I had multiple offers and accepted an offer 5% under asking price with 2% seller's agent commission... HOUSE SOLD!

I live in Las Vegas which was one, if not the worst place to own real estate during this recession. On one of my own properties they state it was sold in December of 2007 for $283,000. I purchased the home in 2000 for that amount but in 2007 placed it in trust and this was not a sale. The home at that time was probably worth around 750,000. I have asked them 3 times to correct the data as it does affect values. As a retired appraiser, I have also found that they are under estimating by about 20 to 30%. Unfortunately buyers do rely on this totally inaccurate site to help them make decisions when they are making offers.

We bought a home owned by Zillow! We hired an A/C to take a look at the air conditioning unit. It was absolutely disgusting! They never maintained the unit! Either mold or microbial has been growing in it! Did not even put a new filter in! And they call their homes "move-In ready! What a joke!
