Today, YT is all about money, profit and ads all over the place. There's no more room for small contributors anymore, and YT is lacking any freedom of expression, or artistic liberty whatsoever. Once, people could make a cover of their favorite song, or some tribute fanvid, and they'd get famous instantly. Many such covers gone viral. It's hardly the case these days. If someone tries to make a cover of a song, or a fanvid, not only they would face immediate copyright claim, but eventually, one can lose a whole channel this way. YT accounts are being deleted daily, mostly because of this whole YT copyright policy, which came into effect back in 2017, when the YT algorithm changed completely. How can one make a fanvid without any music to make a tribute to some of their idol, if all music is already copyright?! Making a fanvid without music makes no sense: it's just a slideshow of Google pictures then, and all of them are also copyright anyway. YT is definitely no fun zone today! This whole new way of getting to monetize someone's videos only made small contributors to leave the site for good. Nowadays, one is considered lucky to get even a 100 subscribers, much less getting a whole 1000, yet it is required to get exactly 1k subscribers to monetize the videos. Then again, how can anyone ever monetize videos which are already copyright?! It cannot be done! Some channels are so desperate to get more subscribers, they would even consider buying them! YT has basically become a synonym for vevo which literally flooded the whole site. All that is left from YT, apart from vevo, is either online streaming by some major channels, or some people running personal vlogs. Only the strong survive. That is the rule. In this case, only the biggest channels will survive. Ads are everywhere these days, sometimes it's impossible to watch a 3 minutes long music video, without all those annoying ads popping up, usually totally unrelated. YT search feature is yet another classic example of how YT treat small contributors. Searching for some specific title may take forever, for you would find anything but what you were actually looking for, sometimes completely irrelevant. Only the selected results get to show, usually from the biggest channels, with more than 1k subscribers and views. If one's video has been blocked for copyright, then it would be useless to look for it on YT! In some cases, YT would even delete a whole channel for copyright infridgement. Plenty of Youtubers already left the site. People post negative comments all the time, they dislike any video they can find, no matter how beautiful it may be, for no reason, just because they can! What can one say about spamming YT with all those useless videos with 2 or more hours of absolutely nothing?! Some Youtubers edit their videos beyond recognition, simply to bypass this YT copyright policy, especially when it comes to full movies, or some TV episodes, and by doing so, they upload some edited version of some full movie, or some TV episode, with such a poor picture quality and low resolution that it is impossible to watch without hurting your eyes. If you ask me, there should be vevo-like YT channels for each and every major movie company, as well as TV channels, to offer full movies, or full episodes of every single movie, or a TV show they ever made, for free, of course, because we already payed them off with all those ads coming from all sides, popping out unwanted and unannounced. Today, most people turn to all those torrent sites out there for full movies, or TV episodes. YT has a competition. Not talking about vevo now, which already flooded the whole site, but Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc. What can one say about soft porn, or even gore, hidden in so many YT videos?!? Censorship is not the answer, I know, but some form of self-censorship would be nice. Personally, I believe this whole copyright policy is killing YT from within. Eventually, there would be no more small contributors left! Although officially just a video sharing platform, YT became Google's next social media, especially when Google Plus is no more. Some Youtubers have obviously mistaken YT for FB, so they expect a like each time they upload some picture to YT. Today, YT is definitely not the same site it used to be back in 2010, or 2015! I used to admire all those Youtubers back then for their contribution. These days, all you ever see is a lot of people using YT to run their personal vlog. Listening to hours and hours of someone's monologue is hardly my idea of fun! Recently, I noticed most songs are only available in audio format, because a copyright owner obviously thinks that only a video clip presents a direct copyright infridgement. That's why you can't find a video made for all those great songs, but audio only instead. In conclusion, if you wanna find some video clip, or some full movie, or a TV episode, always keep in mind it may not be available on YT at all, so, search YT, if you like, but always leave your other options open, even the infamous torrent sites. Another major problem with YT in general is the fact that it is all about popularity. It's not so much a video sharing platform anymore, but a social media with subscribers instead of followers, or fans. Let's face it, many Youtubers will watch a video, but only a few would actually give it a thumbs up, and there's even less of those who would consider subscribing to some channel, even though they like the videos very much. YT may very well be the world's greatest video vault, with all those videos free to watch, but always consider the alternative. Not sure if you're aware of it, but YT videos are not permanent. Meaning, if one is not active for several month, it is possible to lose a whole channel, just like that! So much for YT videos staying online forever! Nothing last forever, not even on YT! In conclusion, you can watch YT videos all you like, but keep in mind there are some other options for you, apart from YT, of course. Once, YT was simply great, today is even below average, at least in my humble opinion.
