YouTube used to be a general-interest video site for all ages. During the pandemic, something drastically happened. The algorithm and search engine seemed to completely break--not just for me but for a lot of people. No matter what you search, you keep getting served the same bogus content from disinfo agents, fake news channels and everything else in between, including racist and antisemitic content.
For example, do a search for Disney. Just "Disney", nothing else. A video from the official Disney corporation will turn up, immediately followed by Alt Right channels like Ryan Rinkel Outpost, The Quartering and others. You'd think family-friendly travel shows and guides would be the first thing you'd see but YouTube promotes these Alt Right channel and hardly promotes the other ones. In some cases, YouTube will even juxtapose official Disney content with these Alt Right crackpots.
YouTube has also been promoting a lot of scamfluencers. Scamfluencers are people pretending to just be vloggers/ social media influencers but are getting slipped money under the table by power brokers, think tanks and foreign agents to spread propaganda. When they have enough viewers, they then start spewing fake news and propaganda from their handlers. One of them is a fraud called Cash Jordan, who keeps taking pictures of graffiti and garbage dumps, putting a grungy filter on them and posting clickbait about NYC dying, going under, falling apart, etc. He will even take old photographs and post them as if they were just happening.
Another scamfluencer is The World According to Briggs. His gimmick is alerting everyone to all the "whitest states", "blackest states", most "Jewish states", etc., I suppose, to help lend enemies of state and domestic terrorists a helping hand in knowing which places to hit when they want to commit an act of violence.
A third scamfluencer is The Real Economy. Pretended to be a regular shopper documenting post-pandemic price surges, then took a hard turn into QAnonville/Election was Riggedsville as soon as he had enough subscribers.
Look at the rest of the gallery to see the oh, so "wholesome" videos that YouTube has been promoting, because everything that I said doesn't even touch the surface--"autism gurus" teaching American kids how to learn that they're autistic, a Holocaust survivor who would've been a fetus when it happened pushing anti-vaxx, an Iranian asset on Sky News attacking American leaders and public figures. It is to laugh!
Contact the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice and other US government agencies if you see similar content to this. Let them know that YouTube is serving disinfo.
I am 80 years 80-year-old Egyptian retired engineer ingoing my time by making some video Physics lessons to support my granddaughter and her friends in their secondary studies. The videos are published publicly on Utube on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm3TOx3cUwVLCQIMzb4JlCA

Years later even after Google has long since bought out YouTube to be owned by Google's corporation, nothing has changed in regards to the types of people on this website. For being the "most well-known streaming website" in the world with a popular userbase, without a doubt you will unfortunately encounter trolls, unmonitored children and bots that send links to hack your account.
Nothing short of a cesspool of cancerous toxicity reeks on this platform. Abuse of the downvotes being spam-targeted when being bullied by someone and/or a clique of their crappy little friends in attempts to mess with the algorithm, ranging to YouTube's overall platform having changed making it difficult to even get noticed on there anymore.
Not to mention the high amount of advertisements being shoved into videos regardless if someone is in the YouTube partner program or not. All that website cares about is fricking money, money, money. It is no longer a place where people just upload random shenanigans with friends or sharing public events for the fun of it, everything is all forced monetary e-begging one way or another; if not someone asking for money, it's YouTube always shoving it's Premium service in your face to stop having so many advertisements.
The advertisements tend to play two unskippable ads back-to-back, followed by even more ads midway through the video and even towards the end as well constantly interrupting watch times.
Don't even get me started on "YouTube Kids". What is even the bloody point of having a SEPARATE APP FOR THEM if a video that gets marked for kids ((i.e. Sonic, Mario, anything that isn't mature related like Grand Theft Auto or Call Of Duty related)), I cannot stand how any video marked "for kids" (whether intentionally or decided by YouTube's shoddy automation system itself) makes the miniplayer not work.
I like to multitask, when I watch a video or listen to some video game soundtracks from childhood games or shows I grew up with, it's annoying that I can't browse the internet or exit the app to check my other apps for any other notifications without the video being forced to pause until I re-enter the app with the screen at full size.
Absolutely no reason screwing up the main YouTube app if they're not going to bother working on their YouTube Kids app; no point in having it if they can't differentiate keeping the two separate.
Don't use the comments section if you are a sensitive snowflake or easily fall for scams. Not worth wasting your time over. It's not to say that there aren't any good members, there are good people on there but the masses of the bots, trolls and hackers to genuinely good people ratio is rather unbalanced majorly.
IM SO MAD GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR WHAT IS INNAPROPRIATE ABOUT: Boys will be bugs Cavetown
"I'm a dumb teen boy
I eat sticks and rocks and mud
I don't care about the government
And I really need a hug
I feel stupid (stupid), ugly (ugly)
Pretend it doesn't bother me
I'm not very strong, but
I'll $#*! you up if you're mean to bugs
It's getting cold down here underneath the weather
I skipped class to sit with you
I really like your spotty sweater
If ladybugs are girls
How do you make kids together?
What's it like in a female world?
I bet it's just so much better
I just turned 14
And I think this year I'm gonna be mean
Don't mess with me, I'm a big boy now, and I'm very scary
I punch my walls, stay out at night, and I do karate
Don't message me 'cause I won't reply, I wanna make you cry
Ain't that how it's s'posed to be? Though it isn't me
Boys will be bugs, right?
Boys will be bugs, right?
I'm a dumb teen boy
All I wanna do is quit
My mum told me that she's worried
And I couldn't give a $#*!
I have friends who understand me
Their names are spider, beetle, bee
They don't say much, but
They have always listened to me
The other boys at school
Think it's cool to hate your parents
But they're lying all the time
The bugs advised that I should let 'em
And if you wanna cry
Make sure that they never see it
Or even better yet
Block it out and never feel it
I just turned 14
And I think I know everything
Don't mess with me, I'm a big boy now, and I'm very scary
I punch my walls, stay out at night, and I do karate

Sometime when I was busy I end up all type of application.
I'm sure you know this already, but if you don't, there are many things wrong with YouTube, such as:
- Scams, p0rn, clickbait, and political propaganda being allowed as ads, with some either
- lacking a stop seeing this ad button (the right wing propaganda of PragerU and Trump)
- having a stop seeing this ad button but keep coming back regardless (MrBeast scam ads and these weird tinnitus/diabetes killer/get hard fast ads)
- Appearing everywhere you go in absurdly high numbers to the point where it feels completely dystopian (Trump2020 campaign ads like bro chill out republicans you don't need to not have a stop seeing this ad button to effectively persuade others to vote republican you're just going to annoy those who won't anyways)
- Dual 15-second unskippable ads (and double ads in general)
- Broken copyright system that allows others to abuse it to steal money from smaller creators
- Constant removal of small features that are nice to have (sort by oldest, community subtitles, etc) and one critical feature important for ratting out scams, bad content, misinformation, etc (the dislike counter)
- Implementing an anti-adblock program for some users while still allowing previously mentioned scams, p0rn, clickbait, and political propaganda ads to roam free
- Google making it so that if you're terminated and want to cancel your subscription, you need to somehow jump through a thousand infinitesimally tight hoops to get it back before you can cancel, which is straight up bottom-of-the-barrel scummy especially considering how hard it is to get your channel back after termination without a MrBeast level fanbase so don't get YT Premium.
I can go on forever but you should get the gist
