Yelp has saved me from doing business at a locale that is less than substandard. Even if I have never done business at a store I can always count and the reviews to keep me informed as if I had.

We have had a great experience with Dave's Diversified Services of Front Royal, Va. We called for a service call on gas furnace which was not heating. Turned out that we needed a new heating and air system. They ordered it that day and installed it the next day. Did a beautiful job, cleaned up and had system up and running the next day. Much better system than we previously had. Would recommend them highly. Have used them many times in the past for service and maintenance for other units and have always responded quickly and completed whatever they promised.

After receiving many calls from yelp about advertising. After signing just a 3 month contract with pay per click I was very surprised when I got my first bill. It was maxed on on pay per clicks with only 7 clicks. They charged me over $20 per click. I was told the average was. 85 cents. All they do is take your budget and devide on how many clicks you get. If you only get one then that is how much they charge you. I have never gotten more than 19 click per month. Total waste of time and money. When you call they tell you too bad that is what you signed up for.

I had at least five 5 star ratings and reviews on Yelp and then they disappeared. When I asked about that, I found out that Yelp has software that decides if your reviews show up - you aren't supposed to send people to yelp to give you reviews. The problem with that is if you don't ask for reviews, you seldom will get them. This means that big companies who have lots of reviews have a good chance of some of their reviews displaying but small companies with fewer reviews may not have any show up. This creates a bias against small business. Here's the problem. I have a good business and do a great job but anyone that sees my page on Yelp will not get that because my great reviews don't display. And people do business with those who have the great reviews. No other site has practices like this. It is not fair. Even if you advertise, the reviews work the same way. It's a waste of money.

I thought Yelp was a reliable honest company to write reviews with to let people know the good and bad about a persons experience with businesses. Especially now days when so many businesses are practicing extremely bad business practices and bad customer service. I wrote a review on a personal small business because they lied and cheated me and to make a long story short... Yelp took this review and moved it from the main post area (not counting as a review) and put it at the bottom in a separate Link that no one hardly knows its there as it is a gray link at the end of all review? When I called to inquire about my review being gone with yelp I was greeted by this very arrogant young lady that said Yelps reviews are reviewed by a computer that uses algorythms to determine which reviews are removed and there is no way to have them re- reviewed by a person and thats it! She continued to ramble on with more crazy talk that no reputable company would follow? I have lost all faith now in Yelp, as I find reading here has been going on for some time! People should stop using yelp!

My business is listed on yelp. What a mistake on my part for putting it there. My real customers come into my business and rave about how awesome it is and they do a rely review and give us 5 stars and describe their experience. The next day yelp removes it from their site. These are regular yelp users and real people. Yelp said they have a screening process that flags good review that are spicious. Bull. They flag every good review until you purchase their service. Hundreds of dollars a month. Waste of money and waste of time. New business owners Stay away from yelp!

Don't believe the reviews on this website half the junk posted here is business owners writing positive reviews on behalf of their own business not impartial reviews or feedback from customers. Stay away.

I have thrice or more tried to post a review of a very dangerous apartment complex in Canyon Country California. However, the owner and the draconian manager keep taking down the review. This is very dangerous, because the REASON WE MOVED THERE in January 2016 was based on Yelp! Reviews, and the genuine ones did not appear until months later. Now there have been so many bad reviews it is hard for the manager to keep up on her removal process so upon reading you'll see a bunch of genuine 1 star reviews and a score of 5 star review from her patsies. Here is my latest review, and please tell me why Yelp! Finds it worthy of taking down:

DIAMOND PARK APARTMENTS, CANYON COUNTRY CA

I'll keep this simple. Cara treated us horribly from the moment we encountered her. Our disabilities towards poor indoor air quality were ignored. Reporting the neighbors, who moved in new tenants on a rotating sub-let basis and who were constantly slamming the doors, walls, and ceilings with sometimes as many as 20 children and several families below us, were ignored. We had no heat in November. Chemical smells drifted from neighboring apartments that made us ill and made everyone who experienced them hallucinate. A tree fell over because there is almost zero maintenance, and it smashed a carport and the car below. Shady people come and go night and day, pause, someone comes to their door, and they drive off. Most have brand new cars with dealer plates in an otherwise poor community. We were not allowed to view our unit until the day we moved in, and the carpets were so worn they became black with filth again 2 weeks later, yet Cara is trying to charge us to replace all of them at many thousands of dollars. We had a health inspector over and he noted numerous building defects.

There is NOTHING in this review that needs to be taken down, nor is it inconsistent with other reviews of this property. It is neutral, fact based, has supporting evidence, and is from 1st hand experience. There are absolutely no allegations in this review. Everything is substantiated from first hand experience of an 11 month tenant. Do not remove it, nor allow the owners to cause it to be pulled down, Yelp. This is your third warning. If you do remove it again, I shall take every effort to announce your actions across social media, as is my right and obligation. Thank you.

I was listed on Yelp via Yodle. As a wedding photographer I expected a well thought out listing for my studio. Not so. First, the fools don't even list "wedding photographer" as a category! But they have wedding planners. Go figure. However, the did have me listed as a "baby beach photographer." What the devil is that? Of course, having little or no customer support I couldn't get these things changed. So if you are a wedding photographer don't bother with Yelp.

Each time familiar places get old, I find new cafes and restaurants on Yelp.
Also, a Yelp review saved me from getting into big big trouble: my BF and I were about to book a couple hours in a local spa and sauna but then I read the reviews and found out it wasn't, well, a spa in a traditional sense. So, thumbs up, Yelp.

Misleading practices.

I was lead to Yelp to read reviews of a restaurant. While I was at Yelp I thought I'd see if anyone had commented on a review I had left for a heating and A/C company. My review was gone! I was surprised to find out Yelp has automated software that moves unfavorable and/or new reviewers to an area that is difficult to find, and is more than likely overlooked by most everyone. It's obvious Yelp is more interested in pleasing the companies that are getting reviewed so the company is more inclined to advertise with them. For me personally, I find that disgusting. Apparently Yelp doesnt realize highly deceptive practice like that results in mistrust, and removes all credibility from the website. And if that isnt bad enough, Yelp insults the reader by making the statement "Your trust is our top concern, so businesses can't pay to alter or remove their reviews."

Yelp was not helpful in helping me set up my coupon and I asked if it was setup correctly and they said yes, it wasnt and never worked correctly and they charged me!

I took my Honda 90 to Mac Douglas Motorcycle Repair at 1922 S Placentia Ave in Costa Mesa, CA. He had the bike 6 weeks. He estimated $150. To fix it which I paid upfront. When I called to check on the status, he told me not to bother him. So, I went to his shop. He said it had bad valves and he estimated another $150. The next time I went to his shop, a friend went with me. This time Mac threw my parts around the shop, cursed my friend and challenged him to a fight. We left in disbelief, He called a week later saying the bike was fixed and I owed him $450.00 more. I had noi choice but to pay him. I asked about a receipt and warranty. He declined to provide either. Anyone who needs bike repairs shouldn't even think about going to his shop.

Digs floral and botanical design in Ojai Valley has provided bouquets that are exquisite.
The flowers are fresh and abundant. The arrangements are artistic. The value is surprisingly affordable. The service is efficient. I ordered and chose to pick up the arrangements. The order was ready within an hour and was two of the most beautiful bouquets I have seen.
