The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Be careful in agreeing to anything that is said by the Account person, their objective is to get you on advertising dollars. They don't tell you that if you cancel early that you get charged a high cost per click rate. I was told my cost was going to be about $28 and when I cancelled a week later, I was told that I will be charged almost $300. Talk about being blindsided and screwed. My suggestion, go somewhere else.
Yelp hides good reviews based on their opinion. Yelp refuses to remove obviously fake negative reviews. They are of no use to businesses or consumers. Google is far superior.
This company lied. And now is charging me $1500+ for months of services we did not permit. They lie to you over the phone and get you to give them a credit card under the guise of giving you something for free. DO NOT USE YELP TO ADVERTISE!
Yelp is worst platform ever because i am trying to login with my google and facebook accounts it's showing "Are you a human? Please complete the bot challenge below." but i can't find any challenge, this is bug or cheating people?
Very bad app I ever seen I hope the government or google stop this app they just for cheating the people
Everything they tell you to get you to sign up is a lie. There is no daily limit. There are additional charges, the fees change (of course they go up), just all around terrible. As of today, a week in, I'm at $400. Apparently you can cancel, which I did but they may be able to charge for an additional 30 days. Dangerous people. Dangerous site. Just overall terrible. If they call to list your business, tell them to suck a fat one.
Once upon a time, Yelp was a useful resource. Now, it's just a scam which sucks money from small businesses which get nothing in return. My own experience: I signed up for a "free" trial of an enhanced listing for my web/print design business. After the free trial, I would only be charged for real genuine leads. They immediately (during the "free" period) began sucking money out of my bank account. I cancelled. They sucked more money from my account. I tried and failed to find a person at Yelp who would/could do something about the problem. They sucked more money from my account. I cancelled the card they had on file. It's not just me. I know several small business owners who complain that Yelp only shows the negative reviews unless they fork over the big bucks.
My 8 yr old pointed out her mother was called a $#*! in writing online and Yelp allows it to stay. I guess calling someone a $#*! online is ok by them. Garbage company spreading garbage reviews with no merit.
Yelp is a joke. They are a scam. They don't care about the customers or their businesses. They are all about money. They will pick the worst possible picture as your profile picture. And they won't change it unless you pay $90 a month for an "enhanced profile." If you pay for yelp ads, you will get a bunch of yelp generated bogus leads that aren't even for the service your company provides. And if you ever stop advertising, they will instantly kick a bunch of your reviews into "not recommended." And if you decide to advertise again, all of a sudden those reviews show up again. It's all a scam. Not worth the money. Customers are catching on. The general public is starting to realize that the more you pay yelp, the better your ranking is. This make yelp reviews worth absolutely nothing.
Yelp only wants negitive reviews from peoples who smell their own farts and it is very evident by all the good reviews getting filtered out and only bad ones remaining
This is a scam. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. Wish I had read these reviews first. Customer service rep did not keep agreement to call me after the weekend to review my ad and decide whether to keep it or not. She said she had a medical emergency when she finally got in touch and that she could not terminate my ad- ( not what we had agreed to). I had to go out of province next day and contacted Yelp upon my return- after 4 phone calls I was told I would not get a refund because I could have terminated myself-
Being charged over $200 and not one phone call or email.
I was contacted by Yelp to do advertisement for my business, and was told I would be getting leads immediately. First, I really base my business on word of mouth from clients who are very pleased and recommend my services to others. In the first two days, nothing had happened, so I cancelled the service online, the only way to get in touch with these people. A month later they extracted 375.00 from my bank account for 2 days of service. This is fraudulent, and they should all go to jail! What a bunch of crooks these people are! Never, ever get involved with YELP!
Yelp who tries to get people to leave reviews and hurts industries or businesses in general is a pathetic excuse for what America was brought up to be and tired of it. My dad died from a WW11 injury and for today's society i am heart broken at how reviews are not respectful. Could i find your headquarters i would bring in an Attorney and Sue you all!
Jeff M. "Scammed like everyone else" says it best. They offered us $150/mo free towards advertising. Skeptical at first, their rep said they would call back to go over results to see if it was worth continuing. They never called back, no message, no email. I blame myself for not keeping an eye on this but at the same time, this is shady business practice.
EXACTLY what happened to me. $570 in charges. Working on an AMEX refund, which will unlikely to be successful. Stay away from YELP.

They do deceptive business practices by tricking you into advertising with a $300.00 credit, then they overcharge your account unknowingly.
Absolutely the worst advertising company on the planet with no ethics
They remove all the good reviews until you pay for their Ads. Horrible pushy salesmen and not worth your business if you don't want to pay for Ads. I really used to respect the company until I started dealing with them.
Horrible horrible horrible. 98% of legit 5 star customer reviews get taken down. Even when they confirm the city the job was completed in. Extremely disappointed in yelp. Advertising leads to more calls from small companies trying to get you to use their software or advertisement etc, NOT actual customers. It seems as if their "review software" only benefits you if you if you pay them via advertisement. Also if you decide you want to delete the yelp page because only the bad reviews stick, altering your companies reputation, oh well. Its all still public. I have 14 reviews that stuck, 2 were 1 stars that shouldn't even be there, so im a 4 star company. The other 58 five star reviews will never be seen apparently.
I looked into online advertising, all i did was to check into Yelp, soon afterwards all in one day, had a call, text, and email.
Should of been warning of what was to come...
Smooth talking reps, fancy terms, yet the $300 credit is not as one would expect. My bill was to be 15 a day, instead was 338, then as i canceled, the email was ignored, sent few more, all were disregarded.
Finally they got the hint to cancel, expect me to pay 741 for a month, i say take me to court.
All the on line reviews and complains are true, a high pressure sales smooth pitch to get in and tough fight to get out.
I looked into yelp as means o advertise on line. The next day was contacted via cell left voice mail, then text even email.
Should been warning to stay clear of Yelp.
The weather in my area has been none to kind to those who work outdoors, have set state record for rainfall. I asked to be cancelled, only to be ignored, I sent numerous emails, not one was honored.
A agent did make fol, low up, he was to cancel my ad, the bill last week was to be only for 13 days,, the 300 plus taken care of a week later is now near 750 in just one week.
They manipulate businesses. Give them money and your great reviews are guaranteed to show. Refuse to pay for services and they will make sure only bad reviews show.
Then you can't even remove your business from their site!
It's a shameful company! Do not get caught in their trap.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
