Don't use Yelp, don't believe Yelp and definitely don't put your business on Yelp! I have a small business. Yelp gave me a free month of advertising when I signed up and promised a certain amount of business. That first month, I received 46 leads. Exactly the minimum they promised. Every lead had the same exact request word for word and not a single one ever replied when I reached out. I chose not to continue with Yelp advertising at that point. In the 18 months since, I have received exactly 0 leads. Every review I got after I stopped paying disappeared and I have been contact by Yelp multiple times where they try to trick me into paying for more advertising. I have also spoken to other business owners that have told me they pay Yelp to take down the negative reviews. Stay away from Yelp. It's a garbage business with questionable tactics.
In less than 3 months I was charged $800.03 for no results in helping my business!
The person who created my profile did not look at my personal & financial interests by giving me a minimum cost per month until I would see results! Instead, I started $450.00 per month for the initial setup & continued at that rate until i canceled on Dec 20th because of no results & overcharged fees that i did not need to start my campaign online! I will never recommend YELP to anyone as they are only interested in selling high-end advertising for no guaranteed results!
Yelp is a scam. Justine Milesky is one the more annoying telemarketers I've had the displeasure of speaking with. These telemarketers don't listen to anything you are telling them when they spam call you. You may think it's a customer calling and answer but it's yelp calling to waste your time. They won't get off the phone and will keep prying to show you something to get you sign up for their paid services that don't yield any results. Scam. I'm sick of this company spam calling me and wasting my time.
Yelps advertising product is, by design, created to bilk you out of your money without having to be accountable for producing quality leads. Don't use this company. It will drive up your costs so that you cannot be competitive or profitable.
While trying to improve my online presence, I decided to give Yelp a try. Had been having difficulty getting quality B2B leads. They said 100% that they would get business leads rather than consumer leads. Just lies. There are no B2B leads that can be generated through their approach. Disappointing sales tactics.
CPC is incredibly high and no disclosure about average CPC. Received leads specifically for products I did not want to be targeted for... very disappointing.
Made the mistake of joining yelp for solo musician advertising, I could not find my own ad that was costing $16.00 a day, - Quit in one month. They tried 12 times to charge my CC that I had Blocked and finally got in somehow and took $342.00 (bank is trying to find out how they got in) I knew I would probably have to pay. But not by Bank Fraud! This Company is Puke! Do not waste your money and time! Zero Stars! One Turd!
Yes in some places this is a good site to:
Build a list to find a place to eat. The truth? It's just data of what meets thier criteria of a local biz. Many 5 star restaurants have one review and are pick #2. Auto repair shops are worse... some guy with a "shop" ( online address generated) with his apt. Buildings address in the rental garage stall. Is rated better than a real auto repair (20 reviews) facility with trained techs.
A few weeks later I noticed some extra Yelp charges on my debit card. $180 this month, same the month before and some other extra other charges. I called them and they said the only way to solve the problem was through email. So I sent them the email explaining everything and it's has been 2 weeks already rand they never replied. The biggest problem was I don't even have a real business yet. I was doing a trial and right after I made my account I removed every paid service. On top of that I haven't received any emails, calls, instagram followers… NOTHING. They also don't send you a receipt or email notification about the charges. I'm completely upset and disappointed.
I am so frustrated with Yelp and surely they will fade away soon. Yelp at first, was a great place for restaurant or small business reviews, until now. They hold small businesses "good reviews" ransom until you pay for a business account. I only wish we could cancel our business from showing up on Yelps review site. We as a small business have a Better Business rating = A+, Google rating 4.0 stars, Yelp rating of only 1 star. Seems very lop sided... If people only looked at Yelp for a purchase decision they would never leave there homes. Yelp as a business defiantly deserves this one star rating.
I own a local towing company on the east coast. Amazing how both of my leads were from California. The sales person actually would not call me back later to discuss a plan when I specifically told her at the beginning of the call I had a client to meet shortly. I ended up being late to the job by trying to be respectful to the representative. Don't give them anything but the poor reviews they deserve.
Yelp stole $512 from me. I did not agreed to pay a dime for any service. I was clear. Yelp is hurting the economy in the long run. Close this company, educate other people and business. Yelp business practices are shady.
They sell their services bundled in multiple packages and charges. When you cancel they still keep on something to continue to charge you! No refunds offered even if they are stealing your money with their practices. Stay away from these thieves!
Horribly inaccessible and unprofessional for a company that is intended to improve one's business. Every representative has different information and truly is not about helping the customer. I have never experienced such poor service, but they are in the business of business I suppose.
I wish I had money and time to take this case to court.
As a small business owner I paid for advertising on Yelp and worked very hard to satisfy my customers. Several of them nicely wrote us review ( without us asking them), but each time after few days, Yelp removed the reviews.
I spend hours discussing the issue with customer service, but they did nothing for me.
Soon I noticed the same problem is happening for other businesses.
Yelp's goal is to remove the good reviews, this way they have to advertise with Yelp for ever.
This is nasty, but I assure it's a billion dollars law suit for a brave lawyer.
Can't wait to see this case in court of law.
I was really considering Yelp, but after someone called me and I told this lady about 5 times I was not interested in doing any advertising with them maybe in the future. She kept on and on saying let me tell you how everything works. And I'm like I told you I'm not interested. She was very unprofessional. Honestly, I got annoyed and finally said you know what I'm busy I cannot keep talking and finally hang up. So I'm definitely not using Yelp and based on the other reviews I've read, they are pretty good at taking money from you. So no thanks!
They will charge you an unbelievably high fee for advertisement after offering you to get your business posted for a free month of service the same day they charged my card over 300 dollars for what they said was advertising and I never even generated one lead not even one lead. Then they charged me another $900 and it would have been more but it was all the money i had in my business account. Because of yelp I am now unable to continue doing business because of the fraudulent charges they stole from my account.
I can only hope that businesses being solicited by Yelp or considering advertising with Yelp check reviews before spending their hard-earned marketing dollars. For a company that boasts reviews of other companies, they sure fall short of their own customer service and marketing promises. Their Customer "Satisfaction" Reps are rude, uncompromising, actually shouted at me on the phone, offer no responsibility and left me anything but satisfied. At a cost of $45 per website click with no guarantee of any further customer interaction or ROI, using Yelp ads is the absolute worst advertising decision I ever made.
Yelp Salespeople will lie to you. Even when you tell them exactly what you are willing to pay for and not willing to do. They have a Pause Campaign button on their site, but it doesn't pause the billing for extra fees for having pictures and other elements of your profile.
Yelp has ZERO interest in helping businesses with any false or fictitious reviews. They will allow bad reviews that hurt your star rating even for reviews we have proof were not associated or were not a customer of our business. I think it's weak to be a keyboard warrior and bust out a company based on one bad experience. Buck up and call the management. I've asked YELP to help me with several issues and they've NEVER helped me with one. We stopped all advertising with them. One reviewer even said right on their review we've never done business with them... YELP told me oh well not our problem. YELP is NOT pro business.
If you have a small business do not put it on yelp.
Everything from their ad offerings to their review guidelines/processes, they do not have small business success on their agenda. When I started my business I used their ads program and spent $2000 to get nothing back.
They allow people to leave reviews that haven't even used our business and when we report the reviews they say their legit. I know for a fact they don't ask for proof of service from these reviewers because we don't have these people as clients.
I've asked to remove my business from their platform because I have less than three stars on yelp but everywhere else my business is listed I have 4.8 stars and up. They refuse because "people deserve to know what other people think of your business and this is a public information site." If that were true they would include reviews from places like google and Facebook, those are also public.
This company is terrible and I don't recommend them at all.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
Yelp has a rating of 1.4 stars from 1,588 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Yelp most frequently mention customer service, small business and credit card. Yelp ranks 244th among Search sites.
