Yelp Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

WORST SITE EVER BEWARE!
October 10, 2023

Please don't ever consider using Yelp for marketing your business, they are horrible and a complete SCAM just look at how low there ratings are. I have a business account for many years nothing but problems and aggravation. Everytime I get a positive review and I'm at 5 stars they delete only the positive reviews but they leave the 2 negative reviews I have. So I was at 5 stars and over the last 3 days they deleted 5 positive reviews which brought my score way down to only 3 stars, and they do this whenever they feel like it. This site will destroy your Small business reputation, I've had my business for 12 years now and I've stayed at 5 star reviews all these years on every other marketing site and social media. I tell them to delete my account and they won't do it they say they can't. Do not give this company any of your info cause once you do they will never delete the your page, they don't allow you to delete any of your info. So your page will stay up weather you like it or not with all your info up and if they drop your ratings down to 1 star there's nothing you can do about it it's still live and shows up on Google and everywhere else for people to see. Besides me spending $1000 on paid ads which I didn't get 1 client from, then I canceled my ads after that and they still ran up another $2000 on my card, so I lost $3,000 I hired a lawyer now to look into all this cause they are a complete scams and they should be put out of business. They do Fraud and get away with it, it makes me sick. I have never dealt with this with any other site

Use Google, Facebook or Instagram they are great for marketing I haven't had any problems with those 3 sites

If you are a business, and have customers who write reviews, be aware that Yelp's algorithm can remove legitimate customer reviews from your ranking and hide them in a "not recommended" link at the bottom of the page. They won't even tell you they are doing this! Awful company.

I did a search for Ruby Tuesday on line. I thought I accessed the restaurant, but instead it defaulted to yelp and grub hub. This wasn't apparent until i ordered and I paid. I went to pick up food from the restaurant and became aware that grub hub charged me $5 more for each meal, than the restaurant charged in its menu. I tried to cancel, but grub hub said it was too late. I feel that Yelp is using deception in advertising and pushing grub hub, when that's not was needed.

Please stay away from yelp if you are thinking of advertising with them. Once they have your credit card information, they will keep charging frivolous charges on it. They have been trying to charge my credit card for people just visiting my page when in fact, it was only supposed to be charged for client leads. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.!

They pick and choose which reviews to show instead of just showing every review and allowing the customer or person reading the review make their own opinion on whether to believe the review/reviewer or not. They removed more than half of the positive reviews and left a bunch of negative fake reviews of business making Yelp extremely unreliable! They say that if a yelper doesn't have enough friends then the review they leave wont be shown, but who in the hell has yelp friends!?!?! People go on yelp to leave reviews not to build a social network of friends! Absolutely ridiculous!

There is not a more scurrilous website than Yelp. It promotes libel, foul language and personal attacks. It is biased against non-advertisers. It does not adhere to its TOS. The positive is no one belivees these crackpot reviews. It is criminal that Yelp hides behind "free speech" Yelp needs to go.

At one time our business was paying to advertise and for some of Yelps features but I stopped. I currently have 34 reviews seen but Yelps stupid algorithm has "40 other reviews that are not currently recommended".
I have tried on more than 1 occasion to get Yelp to address my concerns about now having more of my reviews "not recommended" than ones that are. I offered to prove that I could produce prove of paid invoices for clients that have reviews us on Yelp and they refuse to address it.
I explained to them it looks like we are artificially trying to inflate our reviews w/ bogus reviews which they disagree with.
I have stopped all spend with them and will never be a paying client again until they figure out a better algorithm than they currently used. No other service, to include Google has such a stupid algorithm as Yelp. Save your money and spend it on better advertising w/ companies that care about your business.

DO NOT TRUST THESE SCUMBAGS WITH YOUR "ADVERTISING" MONEY!

Run, do not walk away from this piece of trash institution that should not be in business. They lie almost every time they open their mouths.

My sales rep, "Don't worry, you will close at least 80% of your leads provided by Yelp."

Of course, I was skeptical when I heard that almost certain lie it seemed at the time but I figured I would hopefully close at least 20% which would make the investment likely profitable.

They set up my account, without asking or confirming with me any particular preferences for the setup, and then started sending me "leads". Each garbage lead did not have a phone number or any contact information to reach the customer other than their internal messaging system. I knew I needed to reply ASAP to have a good chance of closing each lead and averaged 10 minutes from when I received the lead which is above average and should have put me in a favorable position.

25 leads later it became very clear to me that most of the leads that they sent me were not only junk but it seemed like robots AKA fake leads provided most likely by Yelp.

I did not close a SINGLE LEAD from the 25-plus leads Yelp gave me, not one! That is nearly impossible to do even if you are the worst salesperson on the planet.

Not only that but one of the few leads that had an actual human calling me turned out to be someone trying to commit check fraud with me. It got so bad, I had to call the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the FBI on one of the fraudsters that reached out to me from Yelp. UNREAL.

I spoke with Jessica, one of the alleged managers about everything and she could not have been more rude and unaccommodating. Not only did she claim to be the decision-maker for all of Yelp, she ended up hanging up on me when I asked to speak to her manager.

You are much better off burning your money than dealing with this TRASHY institution.

And, they have a 2 rating on their own Yelp reviews...which you know they doctored the other positive reviews...their actual review is likely a 1 star.

I say again, run, fast do not walk away from this SCUM company.

I work for a company that does incredible work and we ask our clients to review us on Yelp however, that may start to change. We recently noticed that we have 14 five star reviews but they aren't showing up on our Yelp profile which is impacting our overall review. When we contacted Yelp to get this issue fixed they said that there was nothing they could do because it's all within their bots algorithm. So that means the clients we've asked to review us went through the hassle of signing up for Yelp, took time to write us an incredible (and sometimes lengthly) review of their experience, only to not have it show up. Since Yelp was unhelpful with trying to remedy this situation we will no longer be asking our clients to review us on Yelp but instead other sites where their review will actually matter and show up.

I had reviewed T-Mobile based on my experience when I had called their on line phone #. Without any inquiry from me Yelp send me the following email as a reason for removing my review:

"Hello,

We're reaching out to let you know that our moderators removed the review you posted to T-Mobile because it didn't look like your content depicted an experience at this physical location."

It is funny that Yelp believes calling the toll free # of T-Mobile has a physical location.

Yelp is very biased platform for true reviews. I will no longer review or consider other reviews on their platform.

Title: Disappointing Customer Service Experience on Yelp

Rating:

It is with great disappointment that I address the concerning issue of poor customer service on the popular review platform, Yelp. Despite its wide user base and extensive offerings, Yelp's customer service falls tragically short of meeting customer expectations. My review will focus on three major concerns: their lackluster response to communication, their indifference towards false information, and their failure to filter out false reviews.

1. Ignored Communication:

When it comes to addressing customer concerns and inquiries, Yelp's customer service team has a dismal track record. Numerous users have reported being left in the dark after submitting emails or reaching out via phone, only to face prolonged periods of waiting or not receiving any response at all. Yelp's customer service seems to often hang up on frustrated users, leaving them helpless and discouraged. This lack of professionalism and responsiveness is unacceptable.

2. False Information:

To attract more customers, some businesses resort to using false information on their Yelp profiles. Shockingly, Yelp seems to turn a blind eye to this issue, allowing misleading or inaccurate details to persist. This not only harms potential customers seeking reliable information but also negatively impacts honest businesses who face unfair competition. Yelp needs to take immediate action to verify and rectify the accuracy of the information displayed on its platform.

3. False Reviews:

Yelp's failure to curate and filter out false reviews is another major flaw in their customer service operation. It is distressingly common to find reviews from individuals who have never actually contracted services or purchased products from a business. These fabricated reviews often mislead potential customers and severely impact the reputation of honest businesses. Yelp's algorithms and human moderation teams must act more diligently to prevent such false and misleading reviews from spreading on their platform.

In conclusion, Yelp's customer service is far from satisfactory. Their lack of responsiveness and disregard for user communication creates frustration and leaves customers feeling unheard. Moreover, their negligence in addressing the use of false information and false reviews affects both customers and businesses negatively. Yelp must prioritize rectifying these issues to regain the trust and respect of its users. Until these fundamental flaws are addressed, customers should proceed with caution when relying on Yelp as a reliable source of information.

We had a bad review posted on our Yelp page that was defamatory and filled with lies designed to hurt our business. It was left by an angry customer that did not get their way and they threw a tantrum and started posting false reviews of our business. Yelp will not remove a defamatory review. We understand we will get a bad review now and then, you can't make everyone happy. But when it comes to defamation and outright lies we do not stand for it. Yelp was very rude to me in trying to resolve this.

We also have 31 five star reviews that they determined were not valid simply because the reviewers did not have enough reviews to be taken seriously. I regret signing up for Yelp and wish there was a way to remove my business from their site.

I own a small business. We have over 300 reviews, mainly 5 star. Recently Yelp downgraded us to 3.8, just stating new algorithms. WTF?
I added up all the reviews, nothing justified the change. If anything, most recent reviews are higher? Yeppers

- Bad customer service
- Expensive
- With nearby job you will be charged every time when clients answer you even if it is only " sorry we don't need your service anymore" later you need claim refund and wait…wait and wait
- I had five 5stars reviews but it is not visible because Yelp algorithm thinks it is from fake profiles
Everything so complicated…

Yelp removes good reviews with the intention of having small business owners spend money on ads. Let me dive deeper into this topic. If you have less good reviews(5 star reviews) displayed on your Yelp page naturally you will receive less organic views/organic leads. In turn you will be more likely to feel obligated to spend money on inorganic leads(cost per click ads, nearby jobs) to counteract the decrease in attention your business is getting. Even if someone searches your business name the cost per click ad will appear above it. Essentially that means that even if someone is searching for you organically it will register as an inorganic lead and you will be charged. Recently they just changed there nearby jobs section in my industry from $5 per day to $30 every time you get a response. That means that every time someone responds regardless of the content of the response itself, Yelp will receive $30.6 different business are able to respond to the same nearby job on Yelp. But wait it gets worse… they have started duplicating there nearby offers so that they pop up twice. The reasoning behind that is so that 1 job(typically about a $300 job) receives 12 estimates($30 per estimate). Yelp could potentially make $360 from small sometimes struggling businesses for a job that is only worth $300. The only difference between Yelp and Mafia is that Yelp won't get indicted for their crimes against humanity. Yelp is the most dishonest business I have ever witnessed in the entirety of my life and if I had a worst enemy I wouldn't even recommend Yelp to them.
