The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

A Yelp salesperson called me to see if I wanted to list my company on Yelp. At first I was open to the idea. Then I decided I did not want to do this. I made the decision that it is a good idea for restaurants, etc., but it is not for my industry. I sent two emails to Yelp telling them I did not want to list my company with them. They started charging me $480/month. I didn't realize it until they had charged $5,400 to my VISA. I can't even begin to tell you how much time and energy it took to get that money refunded. DO NOT EVEN TALK TO THEM if you are not absolutely sure you want to list your business with them! I can't stress this enough!
Yelp is a great source for information, and problem solving. I use daily and rarely have any issues!
Yelp does little, if anything, to prevent false reviews. Because reviews have become such a huge part of online shopping/searching, they can literally make or break your online presence. When an interaction with someone doesn't go the way they want, they jump on review sites, Yelp in particular, to slam companies with false accusations and/or terrible lies about the company, product, or employees. They are basically an online platform for people who are neurotic, narcissistic, and lonely self-centered egotists. Their customer service needs to step it up and track these types of reviews to prevent damaging small businesses. Or at least be more serious about the bad reviews that get flagged.
I have many positive reviews on every site. On Yelp I have 3 positive reviews but they say they are not recommended to post but yet they post a bad review from a person I've never done business with that lives in another state. Bottom line pay Yelp get your good reviews don't pay they post bad reviews. It's a scam check it out for your self.
They claim to be classic car specialists, however they do not know very much about classic vehicle repair or rebuilding, such as how to rebuild an engine, transmission or a differential. Instead they send these jobs out. The quality of their work is very poor. They have a lot of comebacks, they are highly overpriced, and they take a long time to fix your classic vehicle. I use to work there, I have almost 50 years of antique vehicle restoration.
I often had to buy supplies and hardware to finish various jobs on time. He does not know very much about classic cars and thinks that he can rush repairs using whatever short cuts he can come up with. Also he only has a three bay shop so expensive classic cars have to sit outside in the rain and snow. Currently he has a sign up call Comm's Classics, however soon he is going to change it to Don's Classics. The shop is in Homewood, Illinois across the street from a train station and next to the police station at ******* Harwood Ave in Homewood, Illinois.
WARNING: Spruce Box Construction is not someone you want to use their services. They gave an estimate to us, scheduled the work to be done, collected a deposit, and then changed the scope of the work they were willing to do. We had contracted to replace a roof section and the signed contract stated that. The owner Xavier, after the work had started told us it was for a repair project not a replacement project. We stopped the work being done after Xavier and Spruce Box would neither live up to their contract nor refund us our money. (6000. 00+) Very very poor business ethic and very underhanded owner.
I decided to build a Yelp page for my photography company. They imidiatly start calling 4-5 times a day talking about upgrades that cost 400 a month. Extremely annoying, but tolerable. Then I get actual clients to write reveiws and their software deletes all of them! Worst, worst, worst service ever. I will be deleting the page and would give them 0 stars if I could.
Signed up for biz yelp, canceled it within a month and a half.
Got about nine leads, none of which were in my scope of work.
Total waste of money and time
Tried to cancel,, on line, billing page is eternally down, dog ate their home work...
Called,, lost connection, very hard to communicate with the phone rep
Horrible experience... 700 and some dollars later for 48 days... of online yelp, no ratings were aloud from any other source.
I don't know why Yelp got only 1.5 star. As a business owner Yelp offered free listing for business unlike Google I really not happy with.
I received a phone call from a yelp sales agent on 9/7/2021 and was advised there is no charge for the first month, so I called on 9/30/2021 to cancel. As I spoke to the second rep, he informed me, yes, there is no charge, my account was set up wrong, and they didn't even have a category for my line of business. Yelp then charged me $429 on my CC anyway, so I called back. The two representatives were no help and were not helpful or had no empathy for their company taking my money, and once they advised me, I would be told the same thing I wouldn't be refunded. The fact that I was told that a supervisor would not get back to me for up to five days shows this company does not care about its customers. In all my life, I have never been told by a company it would take five days for a supervisor to call back. This shows this company fails to assist customers and has way too many complaints.
Wont reverse charges. Costumer service sucks, they have NO intention of helping. I have not agreed to do any advertising with them yet they i sist in charging more every month!
As a contractor we value our word more than anything. The man named Chris from yelp made guarantees about leads that we would receive before we ever got charged and told me that he would call in 2 days to finish setting up my account. Both guarantees were proven false when I never heard from Chris again and a month later I was charged $698.54. I never received a single call or email from potential customers. They claimed that I was "clicking on my own page" but still claimed that this was a valid charge. This is a malicious company and contractors, do not trust anything they tell you! If I could value them at zero stars I would have!
The corporate business principles goes against what at least half of its users stand for. It supports an organization that is both cruel and controversial. Matches double for an org that supports what half the country believes it lethal and heartbreaking. I deleted my account today.
Yelp is the original business rating site that lets you rate local stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and other services. Around 200 million reviews and counting.
I signed up for a business account on Yelp and was completely disappointed with their service. I'm giving them one star because they are only concerned with taking a small business person's advertising dollars over helping that small business gain customers and succeed.
I started paying for advertising with Yelp a few months ago, but stopped as soon as they accused me of soliciting reviews from my customers. Apparently, they use some type of software that tests a reviewer's past history of submitting reviews and uses other algorithms to decide is the review is legitimate because they hid three reviews that customers posted about on my service by telling me that their software found those reviews to be inauthentic because their software says I asked my customers to post them.
This is a lie and when I escalated my dissatisfaction for being accused of soliciting the reviews to their customer service, they read a script over and over about their antiquated review policy. So when I stopped paying for advertising on their site, the Account Manager called me and had the mitigated gall to ignore my complaints about the reviews that they didn't recommend. I also asked them to remove one of the reviews that the customer wanted removed but just didn't have time to do it, but they said it was against their policy.
The account manager went on to tell me that since I had only spent $1000, that this was the reason why I was only getting two clicks per day in their pay per click advertising program.
Ironically, since I stopped paying to advertise on Yelp Biz, I continue to get those same two quote requests per day on Yelp. This makes the money that I was paying to advertise on it, unnecessary.
The AM proceeded to tell me that in order to get more clicks that would lead to more quote requests, that I was competing with other businesses that were paying upwards of $10,000 dollars each month to advertise on Yelp to get more clicks.
This is totally ridiculous and their review policy is outdated and delusional when they take a non-paying consumer's review over a paying advertiser's requests to post the hidden reviews that Yelp lists as "not recommended" because of their faulty software programs. I also responded to each customers review in a manner deemed professional and rational to resolve any dissatisfaction.
I will never spend another dollar on Yelp nor will I look at or take into consideration any of their reviews before I make a purchase. If Yelp was really concerned about their paying business client's ability to gain more business by advertising on their site, they wouldn't make such a big deal about reviews when certain circumstances make a review inauthentic anyway.
Look for this company to fall in the next few years if they don't change this policy! I'm going to post this review in Google as well.
Had been using yelp for years. The problem is what everyone else is saying - if it's bad, it tends to end up in the not added into the rating column. If it's good, it's there.
I just deleted all reviews (good and bad) and will never go back there. And, I can say that with confidence.
The catch is this happens in many other places (not here, which is refreshing)... So, we resort to no reviews except on sitejabber?
Our business tried to use Yelp and they would not allow our best reviews but took them down, then they have the gall to ask us to spend our advertising money with them. They certainly don't get it. We will NEVER use or recommend Yelp.
I just started a business and was looking for ways to advertise when I came across Yelp. When I started my page I was told that it would be a $15/day thing. I figured that I would be able to do that. The rep helping me out neglected to inform me that I would also be paying for the logo for my ad and the upgrades that she insisted that I get. A few weeks later I noticed that I I had two of the same locations listed on my page and a charge for $300+ on my account. I called yelp back and was informed that I had two duplicate pages that I was apparently paying for. I hadn't even claimed one of the pages.
I was also informed that my ad would be up until my $15/day quota was met then it was taken down for the day. After all was said and done I had a $800+ bill on my account. I was told that I could pay it in full or I could do payments. I decided to dispute it instead of having to pay it in full or in payments. I was told by a different rep that no money would be taken until after they reviewed the dispute form. THEY LIED. They took the full $800+ money out of my account. I am now unable to pay for food or rent or my phone because of these people. DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE!
I've given honest reviews of businesses I've used and they've all gotten trashed. Yelp is bought out by businesses for good reviews to be used and bad thrown out. I have family/friends that used Yelp for their businesses and realized this quickly. Ditch Yelp and do Google reviews to make sure your honest review is seen by the public. I mean the only reason we make reviews is to either recommend or not to potential customers… keep it fair and equal.
Yelp should be removed as it will not let you leave a review so I assume that they are all made up and those reviews have been utterly useless so I don't even consider yelp if I am checking out a business.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
