It a great place to get some answers fast but unfortunately you have no guarantee that it's also a quality or helpful answer. Some actually have no value whatsoever. Anyhow overall I use and like yahooanswers.
You can get good information from them but they're too mean or at least they were when I was a member. They gave me a permanent suspension for linking to paid articles of mine in my posts. Although their policies forbade using the forum for commercial purposes, they didn't make it clear in their policies that you couldn't do what I did - I tried explaining that to them but they didn't want to reason.
Very helpful when you don't know the answers and are afraid to ask your friends.

Don't expect many good answers on the site, it's 1/3 trolls, 2/3 idiots (hard right-wing Republicans/Christian creationists)who don't know what they are talking about. I haven't used it in years so maybe it changed But I doubt it, I was banned for no reason but I'm abusing I offended people.

I reported to Yahoo Answers that someone on their staff sent was stalking me through my Yahoo account (down to telling me people in my home own stock and where we live though our account is set up as private) and received no reply whatsoever from the Answers team, and within two weeks my Answers account was suspended under an unexplained premise.
Yahoo Answers has been totally unresponsive to emails, and a registered letter has been mailed to their offices in Sunnyvale, California.
I'll state what many others have stated. I used to help people in the technology section around 8-9 years ago. At the time, the website was relatively alright and most people were helpful. Now, it's nothing but a sensational area of trolling and often, Yahoo Answers became a laughing stock posted everywhere while people laugh at the ridiculously stupid questions people ask.
In addition to this, when I asked questions out of the need of genuine help, the answers I received were downright rude, unhelpful or answers for no reason. For example, I got answers like "I don't know", "figure it out yourself", "do your research *pastes link here*".
As someone else also mentioned, Yahoo Answers community are just people giving replies with no way to correct any answers that could incorrect and even potentially dangerous. People are often racist on the website too. And it's sad people can just reply with anything and become Top Contributors while spouting out ridiculous opinions to things they know nothing about.
Most of the things I need help with are found on Quora and Reddit therefore I avoided Yahoo Answers. Even people there are almost 100 times much nicer than people in Yahoo Answers. Every time I click on a Yahoo Answers link to find answers, the replies are always so stupid that it infuriates me. Got a problem with your game? Stuck on a math homework? Yeah, you could get decent responses about those. Otherwise stay away from this website.
Depending on what you're asking you can get real and useful answers. I use it if I cant find something on google but I'm sure somebody somewhere knows. Yahoo answers has a great community of people.
Yahoo Answers is a great community. Whenever you have questions, you can ask them and get immediately responses. However not every answer is good but most of them are.
Seems the number of people who troll in certain categories (Society & Culture, Religion, and Detroit Travel section especially) highly outnumber those who are on their for serious helpful answers and serious about answering questions to the best of their ability.
The community on Yahoo Answers is the worst. You can't ask any questions without being abused or trolled. Full of horrible assy people. It's perfect for idiots.
Yahoo Answers had the opportunity to help create an awesome place where genuine questions could be answered properly. It lacks editorial control, or at least crowdsourced editorial control. Wikipedia might have errors, but it has a huge dedicated community that corrects errors and prevents bad information from being published. Yahoo Answers does nothing to prevent bad answers to questions from being published PERMANENTLY. That bad answer then becomes searchable on the internet and can never be updated or changed! SERIOUSLY!

Yahoo Answers is populated by too many trolls and too many pranksters. It is more a joke than a real source of information.

If the OP (Original poster) thinks your comment is the most helpful, then you'll be awarded as the best answer. You could also dislike, like or comment on fellow people's comments. You can follow questions as well. But there are quite a few problems with this website and here's one of them moderation. Sometimes moderations seems non-existent, people will ask the most offensive and troll questions and sometimes they won't be taken down. They'd rather take down offensive comments for some reason. Another problem I come across is that the community is full of trolls. They ask questions just to get attention, mess with people and purposely lend out the wrong information. That's also where the moderators are suppose to come in but don't. The customization to profiles are sort of generic, and blocking is only good for people not sending you emails. Uploading pictures is little annoying because they only show links. Yahoo answers is a fun place to ask and answer questions but suffers from a trolling community, half-$#*! moderation, and being very average when it comes to the little things.
The concept of Yahoo Answers is pretty good, it is a pretty good idea. However, it has an issue with trolls, spammers, and rants.
