Marley Spoon/Dinnerly)is by far the worst delivery company out there. My experience with them is horrible. I would never recommend them to anyone. I received my first shipment on the 15th of November and told that the cut off date was the 14th to make any changes. They refused to credit or refund for the box. It contains meals that I was forced to pay for that I don't like and will not eat. Horrible customer service.
Thank you,
Dody Ricci
Food arrived WARM, (ice packs completely melted and warm), making seafood, meats, dairy, and 1/2 the produce trash. Customer service was terrible! After providing photos, they finally promised a refund, but now they're refusing to credit my card for the $51.21 they owe. I've had good luck with 4 other companies I've tried. Marley Spoon sucks!
Do not subscribe to this service! On multiple occasions we had issues with ingredients and/or delivery - damaged box, delivery over 24 hours late, spoiled ingredients which made the meal incomplete or unable to prepare. Customer Service is terrible.
Service gives no notice of reviewing the menus or when something is coming off pause & if you reach out, they're response is basically, "too bad, your fault", not even logging the issue as something to work on. Plenty other services provide notice, so I will continue to use those instead.
The proteins are horrible, the beef- swimming in stinky blood, so is the chicken and pork. The only good dishes we have had out of 12! Were three fish dinners. I got slimy green beans, half of the potato was black, when I cut it in chunks, missing ingredients. We ended up feeding every single piece of beef to our dog. I contacted the company by email and by leaving the reviews of the dishes. I never heard a word. When I finally called to cancel the subscription the woman told me they were too busy to answer. I guess everybody has been experiencing the same problems. I
When I complained that I received steaks that were inedible, so full of gristle that couldn't even cut with a knife, I got a hilarious response from customer service after asked for refund of that whole meal rather than just the $8 they said they would credit.
" Thanks for your reply.
I'm afraid we don't usually compensate for the expectation of the product. For this reason, we are not able to provide more compensation.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused."
They were quick to charge my account, but before delivery date they were already charging for future deliveries. No deliveries ever arrived. Customer service was unresponsive by mail and when I called they blamed Paypal (which showed the payment.) No food. No refund. Impossible to quit. You decide.
I have tried several meal preparation products. This is my third and by far the worst. Basically, what you are getting is an order put together as a jumbled mess. Other companies separate each meal into individual bags for each separate meal not Martha it is all thrown together as a bulk order of items and it becomes your problem to figure out what is needed to complete a meal, for preparation. The cost is crazy plus $12.99 for shipping. To try and cancel your account is a real hassle.
I paused receiving this service for a while. Sometime during my pause, the ingredients that were provided in the kits were changed. You are now receiving less ingredients while still paying the same price for less provided ingredients. So disappointed! Now, I have to go to the local market and buy additional ingredients. My entire reason for choosing this service is to avoid shopping. For example: the kits previously included eggs, sour cream, and vanilla. Not now, to my surprise. Fortunately, I have had on hand what I needed for the recipes that I ordered.
I also ordered some MARKET items, don't expect the size of the items to be what you might purchase at the market. I purchased the flour tortillas, received 5" not the usual 8" size you buy at the grocery store.
Needless to say, very disappointed.
This service is no longer a value to me.
Blood from meat was all over items- photo below is after rinses of many items - box was opened and damaged- food smelled spoiled- food traveled a week to me- -package was late - I canceled immediately 3/20 the day I got 1st package since I was suppose to have time to try it but they claimed it was to late to cancel although I had just received the first box late 3/20 - so they stole another week of my money after cancellation and sent another box that was again…late. I called them and wrote them daily with no results - eventually they refunded money for the first box with blood but still kept $180 for the box I never authorized- that traveled a week - was destroyed - please don't buy from this company - food should never travel 4 -7 days in a cardboard box and expect it to not be ruined. All I wanted was to part ways gracefully but they took money 3/27 after I canceled 3/20 - before I even received the first box - they locked me into another week. Terrible
I've had multiple delivery failures with Marleyspoon. I find this out by calling. Nobody from Marleyspoon lets customers know that their box will not be delivered. I used Hello Fresh for 5 years and this NEVER happened. I will most likely return full time to Hello Fresh. The recipes are really good, however the ingredients are thrown together in one box so everything is messy, wet and completely unorganized. You spend a good bit of time sorting through it to make sure you have the correct ingredients for each meal. Again, Hello Fresh wins again because each meal is organized into a paper sack. No leakage and time saved! Marleyspoon you need to get all this right. Huge disappointment!
We wanted to try several different meal prep options to see which was the best, (I thought wow...Martha Stewart, she judges on "Chopped", so she must know what she's doing!). This was one of them. NEVER AGAIN! The food was horrible, and the amounts of each ingredient to add, were simply too much, which made the flavors in the dish inedible! My daughter had ordered it, and brought a meal over to fix together. After we tasted it, we both realized that the food and well as the instructions were off...by a LOT, and we didn't want to subscribe. She tried to cancel, but they kept charging her card, (she expected maybe one more, then it would be done, but no...). She finally had to cancel her card to stop it from happening again. I do not recommend this meal prep service. It just doesn't taste good. Thank you.
My meal kit arrived late in the day March 1st all of the item's haphazardly thrown in the box.Unpacked and put in refrigerator to start using the next day.Not impressed the third meal in so I go to cancel and they tell me the next order has already generated and there is nothing they can do for me.The long and short is if your not sure you are going to like Marley Spoons service schedule your 2nd delivery 2weeks after your first order is delivered as there business model appears to get you to try a discounted box and then stick you with a full price box. There customer service seemed very gleeful in telling me they where not going to do anything for me and never offered to try and accommodate me in anyway.
That says it all. I really wanted this meal plan company to work for me. Any company Martha Stewart pares up with should say it all. Twice they delivered my product box to a incorrect address. Never got to try it. To boot, I have to wait 7 business days for a refund. Not what I expected with a Martha Stewart endorsement. Don't even give it a chance.
I signed up and I received my first box. Some of the produce was bad and there were notable mistakes…(turkey broth instead of beef broth, etc). We actually generally really enjoyed the meals, despite being disappointed that the ingredients are all just thrown in a box together.
Now it's time for our second box. It doesn't arrive. I call customer service who tells me that "as soon as the delivery service contacts them with an explanation, they can email to help me." I'm also told my box still might be delivered and everything will be fine. Because of our working hours, it mostly certainly will not, and the box was BARELY cold when I got the first one in a timely fashion.
Your delivery service is not my problem. Why does their response hinge on how you can treat me as a customer when you can already see that my box didn't ship. I took time out of my day to call you to try to resolve my issue, and now I get to wait to see what happens based on your contractor?
Mistakes happen. If they do, make them tight with your customers. We might have been willing to try a third time, but not anymore.
I decided to order because of Martha Stewart and I like her recipe also.
It seems obvious that money is being cut by using old produce. Most of the produce in the box I would not buy at a grocery store. Ever. It isn't ok to give refunds as an alternative to providing a fresh, quality product and experience. I decided to try because of "Martha Stewart" name, which I guess comes at such a high cost there isn't any left for the actual food. I know that she loves fresh organic foods but this company is not like her.
My first order- old vegetables like showing brown color.
Second order- smashed sour cream on the old vegetables.
Third order- it was ok
Forth order- old vegetables and bloody stain on the bottom of box.
Do you really want to try this?
Terrible. I expected excellent quality and service from a Martha Stewart endeavor. One package was missing the steak. All packages were late. Most were missing the recipe cards. The beef was cheap - poor flavor, not tender and difficult to chew. The meals were definitely not worth the money we paid.
Customer service is non-existent. We sent emails regarding the missing meat and got back form letter responses - "we're busy - we'll get back to you". They never did.
We did not have any problem getting our order. Our problem was that every thing we got was very bland. The pictures and descriptions did not match the foods taste. If you like food that has robust flavor then I recommend going elsewhere. These chefs know nothing about using spices.
Received only 2 shipments and both had issues. First one the box was opened and barely taped shut. The second shipment was missing the steak for a steak dish. You cannot get through to customer service because they are "all busy helping other customers"... all the time. They do not respond to chat box or email as you are directed to do by the outgoing message when you call in. The only time you get a response is when you unsubscribe. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because the one meal I was able to make was pretty good. Extremely disappointed with the lack of quality control and unavailable customer service. I excepted more from a product Martha Stewart puts her name on.
I recently spent a whole month trying different meal boxes, and Marley Spoon was SO BAD that I had to do my civil duty and attempt to warn anyone who will listen.
The box itself only shipped later in the week (first problem) making it difficult for people who meal plan like myself. Additionally, the photo cards (while pretty) gave the most vague and difficult to follow instructions. In my opinion, these cards should be fool proof and assume that the home chef knows nothing. These were just poorly written all together. Now onto the food - it was not good. Back to the cards, one of the recipes didn't clarify how much garlic was needed and sent a WHOLE HEAD when really only a clove or two was needed. The waste is a problem.
Overall, don't waste your time no matter the deal they offer. If you're curious, the two boxes we enjoyed most were Hellofresh and HomeChef (our personal fav)!
Answer: Oh my... please see my full review that focuses on their delivery and customer service.
Answer: Because of Martha Stewart's name. I thought that quality would be good because Martha Stewart grows and uses organic vegetables and I like her recipes.
Answer: "Home Chef" is so far so good! We got tired of similar taste at Home Chef so I ordered from "Hello Fresh" but they started to deliver old carrots that could bend and didn't snap many times. I was tired to complain so I used my own carrots and terminated this company. We still like Home Chef so we have ordered from them for about a year.
