The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, particularly regarding its customer service and reliability. Many users report frustrating experiences with delayed refunds, poor communication, and unhelpful support staff. Complaints about properties not matching descriptions or being in unacceptable conditions are prevalent, leading to a loss of trust. While a few customers express occasional satisfaction with specific transactions, the overwhelming sentiment leans towards a lack of accountability and professionalism. This has resulted in a growing number of users opting for alternative platforms, indicating a critical need for improvement in service quality and responsiveness.

Do not rent from TNT Rentals in the smoky mountain area Bernice Tanker cabin is named DREAM come true. We did enjoy the cabin. We left it clean as we found it. Only to get a text later from the owners that our deposit was being held due to soiled sheets! They sent pictures with spaghetti sauce? On the bottom sheet, said we left the cabin disgusting and filthy. Not true.we respected the cabin as our own.
I would not deal with thiese people. We will not be using this service anymore and it is sad because we have had good experiences in the past.

This guy is a fraud! Nearly ruined our entire family vacation and from what I am finding, it is not the first time for him. PLUS, he will not refund the money he collected for adding 2 nights to our stay.
Finding a place to stay with only 3 weeks before we left, was terrible. And the refund not being sent is even worse.
CASA SUNSHINE WAS FABULOUS! WE LOVED OUR MONTH STAY IN THIS VERY COMFORTABLE HOUSE. JONI, THE OWNER WAS SO VERY NICE AND HELPFUL. THE HOUSE WAS BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED, AND STOCKED WITH EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. THE GARDEN IN BACK WAS BEAUTIFUL AND HAD A VERY NICE PRIVATE POOL. LOVED WATCHING THE HUMMINGBIRDS EVERYDAY. THIS WAS THE BEST PLACE WE'VE STAYED ON COZUMEL, AND WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK. PROPERTY #*******

Hello,
This owner needs to be removed from your website immediately. She threatened she wanted to shoot one of us and she falsely lists her rental as private and then tells you while you are moving in that she's staying in the house in a private room. She was inside our house at 2:30am when I was in my underwear saying she was looking for her cat which shouldn't have been on the property either because we were allergic. We were scared for our lives and this represents VRBO very poorly if she isn't taken down. I will NEVER rent from VRBO if no action is taken. Please call me ASAP to discuss this. The rental is in Scottsdale, AZ and the address is ******* E. Windrose Dr.
Springs, River Run, Keystone, Colorado
8903 4th floor. Over $7000 for 6 nights. It did have faulted ceilings. Great location.
The place was dirty, my sheets were not cleaned. Arms stuck to the kitchen table.
The window was stuck open. Hole in the wall, and big gouges in every room. The cabinets and furniture wood was all chipped.
The chair had wire hooks from the buttons that had fallen off that ripped clothing and the couch was torn. The pots and pans had so many scratches in the Teflon that it seemed dangerous. Mold in the shower. The list goes on forever
I called to complain when I arrived. They have not addressed any complaint nor made it right with me.
We had a huge problem with a property rented in Tampa. The home was filthy and not as described. The power was turned off during our stay and we had to check in to a hotel. The owner went so far as to file a fraudulent claim with our rental insurance stating that we broke an old dishwasher that we never used. He defamed me in his review after I left a truthful review of the property. VRBO has done and will do nothing about it even though I gave them detailed proof of the problems. They do not get involved if there are problems. They claim to have a guarantee but that is a lie. I will never use their website to rent ever again.
We have listed our Maui condos on VRBO since 2004. For 10 years they were an amazing site until they got bought out by Homeaway Which is now owned by Expedia. A few years ago they implemented service fees on all the bookings that rip up our guests. Owners do not receive a penny of the service fees. Expedia Homeaway VRBO just take your money and give you nothing for it. The new motto in our industry is VROB look but do not book. They no longer allow owners and potential guests to speak to each other prior to making a reservation. They only disclose this information after payments have been processed. This is unfair and does not allow interaction to answer questions or concerns. If you are looking for a vacation rental by owner google the property address the owners name or something else about the potential rental so that you can contact the owner directly and answer Any questions. Remember you will always save money booking directly with the owner
Just entered a lot of negatives on HomeAway.com - who owns VRBO and many other rental by owner sites. VRBO sent me a request for a refund for a cancellation that was taken from my HomeAway site. There process for cancelling works poorly on the HomeAway site. There instructions made it a pain to refund the miserable renter they passed onto me, Their instructons were virtually useless and i would prefer if hey didn't advertise my property on their site but HomeAway controls that - one more reason to not use HomeAway or VRBO - but then no others to use. Where are the anti-trust lawyers when we need them,
VRBO USED to be great website. I was faithful for over 10 years. Now, they think they're indespensable and charge renters just for the pleasure of using their site! Plus they operationally can't get it together. They make mistakes that result in owners not receiving payments. Just a horrible experience. I dropped them. There are other sites that can do this.
We attempted to reserve a property and were charged their reserve fee which initially was not a problem until we could not make a payment for the rental. When we addressed this the actual agent (not the homeowner) encouraged us to pay them direct via pay pal. Why would I send my $ direct to a person in the Bahamas with no record from VRBO of it being paid? When we requested to simply resend a link to pay the VRBO agent refused. We then canceled the reservation with promise to get our reservation fee back in 3-5 days. No refund. Another call placed. 3-5 days. No refund. Now we have to file a claim through the credit card. Horrible experience with the representative and the company. Airbnb was 100 percent better. Never again will we deal with VRBO or Homeaway (same company).
Lucky for VRBO that the lowest rating I can give is one star. They deserve a lot lower than that. When I called to request a case be opened against an owner who had falsely represented her property (she called it a pristene 50+ community of manufactured and custom homes), VRBO told me it wasn't their problem!. It was actually a trailer park but you don't know that until you've paid and you can either drive to or find pictures of the address. VRBO said I would have to work out my issues with the owner directly. Really? Then, what does VRBO do? The agents were difficult to reach, gave conflicting information and one was actually very rude. Never again will I rent from VRBO. AirBnB is much better!
I found a vacation rental on Lake Michigan... PERFECT. However, after submitting my reservation request to the owner, I got an email indicating my request was rejected because I had requested a 3 night stay when, according to the owner, a minimum of one week was required. The listing with VRBO clearly stated a minimum of only 3 nights was required. As I completed the form, it even indicated that my dates were available! VERY frustrating! If an owner wants to have a one week minimum, that's fine... but don't lead customers on with false information on the listing!
Also, along with rejection email, VRBO kindly sent several alternative properties to try. How nice. However, when I followed up on their recommendations, I found that instead of rentals on Lake Michigan, their alternate properties were in West Virginia and Australia?!?!?! Seriously? Australia on a 3 day weekend? THANKS FOR NOTHING VRBO
Dear Jill,
I have just had it with VRBO. I am leaving them in August. My Daughter-in-law has left them already. I have been renting our house out since 1999. I can not put up with the extortionist. Tactics of VRBOI have made several calls and I am going with Tripz. If I do not get 14 requests in the first year, they extend my listing for free for an additional year. They have been around for about 4 years. The owners were with VRBO and got fed up. They are international and out Arizona. Sonja Dohse
I booked a house for $250.00 a night for 8 days. VRBO slapped me with a separate $159.00 service charge. For what?
Horrible functionality. Outrageous commission 15-18%. Poor if at all available customer service. They do not take responsibility for double bookings or other errors. When trying to cancel a booking made months in advance, they tell me to contact guest. Well I did, emailed them. They claim they never got email and discovered 1 week prior when checking in about their arrival. B&B.com off course charged me their commission. That I have to report to them when a guest has checked in in order to get my money is the worst! Are they trying to keep it if I forget? Lousy horrible company. Will discontinue using them soon. Stay away!
VRBO is a rip off. I was charged a $97 fee when I booked a vacation rental and there was nothing on the web site that suggested that I was to be charged this fee when I booked. It is my opinion that any charges for booking a property owner's rental should be charged to the property owner not the person booking the rental. I have rented that same property for 3 years in a row and was never charged a fee before. So what is this all about? I think the amount they charged me is excessive and literally "highway robbery". I'll never use them again. Signed Dave Oustad of Fresno, CA.
VRBO has changed policies and gotten VERY AGGRESSIVE. They wouldn't even renew a listing if I would not give them my business bank account and service provider simply hung up on me! They will no longer allow you to communicate with potential renters via phone or email, increased their fees and most recently "Authorize to Book" without me approving. WATCH OUT
We rented a cabin advertised on VRBO. We caught 4 mice. VRBO did nothing about it and Casa Jacquie is still being advertised on their site. Don't rent it. Casa Jacquie #******* on VRBO.
VRBO and FLIP Key are apparently racing to the bottom! At VRBO you can no longer speak with your guest prior to booking. They expect me to blindly rent a 800K home to someone I can't even talk to? They charge the owners and then turn around and charge the renters. There website is awful to navigate. Maybe somone in senior management at VRBO ought to look at their customer satisfaction index. I give it pretty close to a zero.
Very expensive method to rent vacation stays. The owners were never available. Property management promised resolution and questions answered but they never followed through. Inaccurate descriptions of property.
Answer: There are many problems with listing with VRBO/HomeAway. The 1st is that it is the largest company of it's size. While that may mean that you get more exposure, you also have more competition for getting your listing seen. For example, your listing could be # 300 out of 2,000. Most people don't want to search that far to find what they want because they can usually find something else sooner. In order to get a higher listing, you must pay more. I pay the highest rates they have for my properties in TN # 191351, 189535, & 289723, i. E. over $1,500 each. Listing position is also based on a number of criteria which they mandate. We have no control over some of those criteria. For example, listing position is based on whether or not guests USE VRBO/HomeAway on line booking. Initially,. VRBO/HomeAway required that we OFFER on line booking in order to maximize our listing position, so I offered it. VRBO/HomeAway then changed their criteria & now guests must USE on line booking in order or my listing position drops. I have no control over whether or not they USE VRBO/HomeAway & I don't recommend it for several reasons (more on that if you're interested). Listing positions are also determined by the number & quality of reviews. Again, I have no control over whether or not someone writes a review nor how they rate a property. What may be a 5 Star for someone may only be a 3 Star for someone else, but I'm at their mercy to provide a review & to rate it well. There are many other factors that go into listing position. As I said, I try to maximize what I can & If I'm luck, my property will be listed around 50/200. I get much better response from FlipKey by TripAdvisor. As I mentioned, I pay VRBO/HomeAway over $1,500 for each property. I Pay FlipKey by TripAdvisor about $450/property for #'s 6588094, 2386143, & 3746421 & get much better results. The problem with FlipKey is that it's hard for someone to search for a specific property using the property #.
Answer: VRBO will not help anymore with anything. Homeaway bought them and there is no personal contact with owners anymore until they pay through the site. I don't know about negative reviews. Never see any. If there was a way to avoid VRBO and Someway I would do it; but they have the corner on the VACA rental market now.
Answer: I have the same problem. I don't think they have any.
Answer: Vrbo will NOT get involved in any way. They will not arbitrate on anyone's behalf. They are strictly an advertising website. Carefree travel insurance & all the other stuff is just to make renters feel more comfortable to rent. They hardly ever pay out if there is a real problem. You can sue in small claims court, in the city & state you rented in. The only defense you have is if you paid with a credit card to do a charge back, & even then its hard. You have to have documentation to prove you case. However, vrbo won't contest the chargeback if you can get your credit cad company to work with you. Best to leave a review that warns other renters to stay away. But vrbo approves the reviews before they are posted.
Answer: I have spoken with them so many times yesterday and today with no fix my problem. The number is 1-877-228-3145. I wish you better luck than I have had.
Answer: Absolutely nothing! Every change they make results in their making more money and owners making less. My bookings are down drastically. I would not sign up with VRBO.
Answer: Go with the standard listing if you have already paid. If not save your money and try homeescape.com. Homeaway/VRBO rolled out a new 9% service fee charged to your customers in addition to what you're already paying for. They did this without any warning to their customers. I found out after one of my repeat guests questioned the charge. I'm moving away from them and going with other options.
Answer: A: NEVER, EVER DEAL WITH ANY OWNERS OR PROPERTY MANAGERS THAT YOU HAVENT SPOKEN TO DIRECTLY. NEVER use any form of payment other than credit card. All CC's would refund you the money if you don't get the services. If they don't accept cards or allow payment through Homeaway, FIND ANOTHER PROPERTY OWNER WHO WILL or be prepared to take the chance. READ all reviews, if they don't have any you ARE taking a chance it's a scam or a dump (or a new property but be careful. NEVER make a large deposit EVER! VRBO has turned out to be reliable for us, never used Flipkey and AirBnB wouldn't use it - I want a large property not a room room share
Answer: Try airbnb to rent part of your home
Answer: Same issue for us. The house we rented had glowing reviews and when I tried to post an honest review it still has not been posted.
