I am really disappointed in the service I received. I contacted Vitacost within minutes of placing my order to make a change because their website would not let me (didn't have an account). An employee said he would make the correction. I didn't hear from him until 7+ hours later. The update could not be made. They would not cancel my order even though their system had an error. I will no longer be using Vitacost.
It took nearly two weeks to receive my order. The shipping slip showed all six items "in box" however, one (i. E., Vit D3) was missing. I called and was told that if I wanted to receive the missing product, I would have to purchase it again at the same price paid and Vitacost would subsequently credit my card.
Shipping delays are understandable these days however, this absurd policy is not,
I simply opted to receive credit for the missing item. You're slipping, Vitacost.
Vitacost is very, very bad on customer service. Ordered several jars of honey. Two came broken and leaked over entire order. Spent an hour cleaning up the mess and another hour trying to reach customer service. They offered me a small refund on an $80 order for their bad packing job. Never buying from this poorly run company again.
Be VERY careful with VITACOST products. I ordered 6 bottles of their Tart Cherry and it came today, and EXPIRES in 13 days! They are selling health products as "new" but they are outdated and OLD! Don't buy VITACOST products. THEY SAID THAT THEY SELL ALL KINDS OF PRODUCTS THAT MAY EXPIRE IN 35 DAYS! THAT'S THEIR POLICY. OLD. Outdated, won't let me return it. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. At 1 TSP per day, my first bottle of six will be expired before I even finish it!
I had old account I was unaware of when I placed order with this company. I saw old address on form and changed this, at least 3 times. Seemed to change until order was placed and I saw it going to a house I sold 6 yrs ago in a state 1500 miles from where I now live. Since I could not change on line I spent over an hour waiting on phone to talk to someone who said they would make sure it did not go to old address. Several days later I got tracking number showing it was going to old address. Not only that but it would not get there for more than 2 weeks and they could do nothing about that. They refused to cancel order and refund my money. I talked to UPS and was they could change destination but that may incur a fee. I could not change as I am not sender. I have tried everything to get this company to respond; now I am talking to an attorney.
During the extremely challenging time Vitacost quietly changed the return policy and refusing to refund a product that i included in my order by accident. I've been a loyal customer for years and never had these issues before. I've spent hundreds of dollars for my supplements every year and will be taking my business elsewhere as my business is not appreciated here going forward.
I trust Vitacost to send Virus-free products. I do not understand why I can not be trusted to return Virus-free.
So I am no longer doing business with Vitacost!
One hour I placed my order, I tried to cancel my order by chatting. In this pandemic condition my daughter (receiver) decided to come back home quickly. He said he couldn't do at that stage and would request a refund after invoice issued. He promised he will send e-mail notification. After 5 days I got the email my order had shipped. I called them and they said my refund request did not go through because I must cancel within 15 mins. They changed the rules according to this pandemic condition. The handling time delayed 4-5 days and no returns because of associates' safety. In this exceptional condition, this is an acceptable customer service.
The worst company ever. If they cannot steal your money on the product, they will do it on shipping. Stay away.

I just don't understand why Vitacost doesn't address their packaging problems. Recently I was mailed 11 glass jars and there was no padding on the bottom of the box so many of them were broken. We receive crushed boxes of crackers pulverized even though the boxes look fine. I have been on eBay for 20/20 years and have had one glass item broken and all that time. I guess I'm just going to have to stop ordering from Vitacost. I don't have problems with Amazon, Lucky Vitamin, and Walmart. I am sure I am not the only one who receives items broken or crushed? Now of corse the items on reorder are not available or I've filed too many complaints so they just refund my account. It's a shame because I have been buying from them for years (even before they were purchased by Kroger).
Vitacost sent a purchase to the wrong address 2 times and would not correct it in any way! The first time I figured it was my mistake and took the hit because I was not sending to my default. The second time I was uber careful and triple-checked where it was to be sent on the very last screen and it still went to the wrong address. The worst part is that customer service refused to take responsibility or help.
I ordered Method foam refill which I could not find anywhere so I was surprised Vitacost had it. What I got was the gel refill which I cannot use as I only have the foam dispensers. Of course because of the COVID they cannot accept returns. BS. If you do not have a product in stock then DO NOT send a replacement without asking the customer. Beware of this company.
Attempted to make purchase. They managed to get ALL personal info and open account. Could not complete purchase. They have my info. Could not terminate account. Chat did not work. Worthless!
I ordered some red split lentils. Paid $5.44 for bag plus $5 shipping. They arrived a few days later but they were not red split lentils they were just red lentils. Also they expired the next month. The bag looked very old as well. They refunded me the price of the lentils only. Not sure why I should be responsible for shipping cost of product that I didn't receive. Will try reaching out to company again to get refund in shipping.
Update: I reached out and they refunded my shipping. The only issue I have then was the product was incorrect and expired soon. But good customer service so they get 4 stars
Their online order system changes order totals of $50 or more to take away one item, so that they can charge you $5 postage. This occurs after you have placed the order to cheat you. They also take away promo codes to cheat you. They just did this to me. Then, I called customer service and the girl said "too bad" and refused to correct this, costing me $10 more than I should have paid.
I had to contact customer service for a issue with an order. I was incredibly irritated after 4 phone calls and 3 chats. The rep made sure to aggravate me further, attempting to correct me, chastise me for being annoyed, all with her dramatic huffing and puffing as if having to deal with me was such a challenge. She actually said this is my job ma'am. I told her I didn't care I need you to correct the mistake. When I asked for her supervisor, she gave me a different name then the one with which she answered the phone, and then double charged my card. I finally was able to get a supervisor via chat I warned specifically that this woman is going to do something sneaky with my credit card. When the rep double charged me, I sent a chat and got another rep who insisted I simply didn't know how credit cards worked. There "was a pre-authorization and a post authorization. I hadn't actually been charged 2 times." Never, in all of my years of buying from this company has this happened! I called again, got a supervisor on the phone, he insisted there was no way I could possibly have gotten charged twice, and insisted 'I' had placed both orders for the exact same product. When I pointed out that there were two separate order numbers,
So clearly I had been charged twice, his answer was, "I'll just cancel it." Yet, he still insisted that there was no way I could have been charged twice unless 'I' placed both orders. Never once an apology for the mistake. Never once an apology acknowledging that I had to go through this entire process. When I pointed that out to him, asking, "Are you going to acknowledge anything I just said?" His response was, "I told you I'd cancel the order." Buyer be ware. If you're happy spending money with a company that has such terrible customer service, by all means buy from Vitacost.
Vitacost was purchased by Kroger[?] and has been going downhill ever since. If you are a beginning vitamin/ mineral/herb 'user' show elsewhere... I' ve been a customer since 2012 but that is soon coming to an end.
Vitacost loves to inundate your email with deals and sales but when you order from them (at the website clearly indicating stock) they cancel. Once the sale is over... look at that... the item is in stock!
There's lots of online shops, I suggest you shop elsewhere. People online shop to not waste time, and Vitacost is a complete waste of time!
Vitacost customer service was horrible. I shopped with this company because of guaranteed 2-day shipping offered by FedEx Ground through shoprunner. My order was shipped priority mail (4 day service) to my physical address where it will not be able to be delivered due to no street delivery by the postal service in my town. Customer service did not offer to correct the mistake. They just told me that once the package was returned then the matter would be taken care of. FAIL FAIL FAIL
Ordered two jars of the Ener G Baking Powder. Packaged arrived dumped near the front door on the ground. Picked it up and discovered it had been cut open and retaped. Opened the package and found one of the jars was missing. Notified the company. They refunded that jar. Went to use the other one. Found it had been opened! Called the company, they refunded that jar. If you remember the tylenol murders, you realize that food that has been tampered with is a huge hazard. I would never order from Vitacost again. They were pretty blase'. They didn't much care. I'm concerned about the buying public, getting dangerous product! BEWARE! VITACOST IS WELL AWARE OF MY POSITION ON THEIR POSITION!
Answer: Yes they sell brand names and reputable products. They may not sell everything though depending on what you're looking for. I couldn't find the product I wanted anywhere other than through Vitacost so I was quite impressed.
