I got an offer in the mail-did not have it with me on lunch so I went to the website and ordered-not realizing my offer on paper was $29.99 and I paid $49.99 instead. I immediately called customer support and I explained this. I had THE most condescending human speak to me. He had such an attitude and I asked him to not be so rude. He went on to speak about how I clearly was in the wrong for ordering without the code. I told him I did not disagree that I should have had the form but could he fix it as I am brand new to this! He DECLINED. So I asked for a manager and he said there is "no one available as a manager or supervisor for me to speak with." He then checked into my account and said my payment did not go through anyway (which I have not checked to be accurate yet) and I could try again to do it the "correct" way so it may work this time. WHAT A TERRIBLE front line for a company!

Unethical
May 30, 2021

After switching to their 2 bottle program, they send me a letter forcing me to opt out of receiving extra bottles."Do nothing and the special 3 bottle... will be included" in addition to your regular shipment for an extra $49.

JUST STAY AWAY. THESE WINES ARE REALLY WORST. I TRASHED ALMOST 4 WINES FROM THE INTRODUCTORY OFFER. THEY SAY INTRODUCTORY OFFER AND ONCE YOU PROVIDE YOUR PAYMENT INFORMATION, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS THEY KEEP DELIVERING PACKAGES EVERYMONTH AND CHARGE YOUR CARD FOR 192 DOLLARS. 12 BOTTLES OF WINE 192 DOLLARS WHICH TASTE REALLY WORST...

STAY FAR FAR AWAY!
Signed up for intro offer of 8 total bottles for $39.98 (including the shipping). Arrived promptly and the wine seemed decent enough. The offer fine print stated I would then get 6 bottles/month for $96 (=$16/bottle) plus shipping, plus tax (no specifics on those).
My first regular shipment showed up about a month later, 3 bottles each of a white and a rose (which are our preference). No invoice in the box though, which is odd (I belong to 4 or 5 other wine clubs, and always get either a paper invoice or an emailed one). Went to check online and discovered that I had to contact their Customer Service to set up online account access. But that went smoothly. Next I found the shipment in my account history, total charge was $164.39 for the 6 bottles! Their "Club info" page had stated that wine was $17/bottle (the mailer had stated $16/bottle...), and their Shipping Info page stated $30 for a 6-bottle shipment. Add that up and I'm at $132. So what's the other $32.39? Can't be just taxes right? Chatted with Customer Service and after a couple attempts to run circles around the question, including one offer to downgrade me to their "Mystery Box" club that's <$100/mo, he finally agrees that Taxes were $32 - on $102 of wine! Almost a 32% tax rate! (more than 2x the tax % I pay through any other wine services) To which I replied "Holy f*@#ing $#*!! Please cancel my membership". He got mad at my choice of language:-) but did cancel my membership (and the chat session).

STAY FAR FAR AWAY!

They are crooks
April 24, 2021

I cancelled my membership but they sent an automatic shipment anyway. I called they apologized and told me to refuse it. I did it was returned but they are trying to charge me $65 shipping and refuse to refund my $165 payment saying I only get a $100 store credit for future purchases. This shipment was after I cancelled the club and now I have to file a civil lawsuit. Never fall for their gimmicks they lie.

Buyer Beware
April 20, 2021

I was attracted to this wine club because of the low introductory offer of 8 bottles for under $50. I didn't mind so much not being able to choose the wines until after I sampled them. My mistake was I forgot to cancel my membership until my credit card company notified me of a new charge from Vinesse. I called immediately to cancel, and was told cancelations needed to be made 5 days in advance of processing. I canceled my membership at that time and I thought after receiving 1 last unwanted shipment the account would be closed.
The problem is that I was notified by email that I was automatically enrolled in a "preview system". I now needed to opt out of monthly orders or I would continue to be charged for new shipments of wine. The confirmation of this agreement was sent to me after I asked to cancel my account and had been told it was done.
I notified the bank that my credit card had been compromised to be certain that I would not have to accept any more unwanted wine from Vinesse.

I responded to Vinesse's introductory offer that came in the mail. I didn't want to get hooked into automatic shipments, so I paid by check (March 9,2021). For the same dollar amount, my checking account was charged DIRECTLY on March 18. The check was never cashed. Instead, Vinesse took my checking account number and routing number, right off the check.
This means that they can and will auto-debit me for future shipments WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
I'm not putting up with that. I'm closing my checking account and opening a new one.
DON'T WRITE VINESSE A CHECK... Also, the wine was pretty bad :p

Ripoff
March 2, 2021

I accepted a Vinesse intoductory offer that assured no other shipments would be made "with no committment - you can accept, decline, delay..." However, weeks later I noticed a charge of $156.17 by Vinesse. I immediately called and was told I had agreed by phone when I accepted the introductory offer to monthly shipments. NOT TRUE. But he said I could reject the shipment which required a signature. UPS deposited a case of 6 bottles of plonk on my doorstep -- no signature. The wines are unknown - not really useful for cooking. Although i cancelled "membership" I keep getting new offers from Vinesse and for an upgrade to the "Elevant Society"! BEWARE

Poor customer service
February 26, 2021

God forbid you try to cancel. I emailed to unsubscribe, got charged over $150 for 6 bottles of wine. Emailed again to request a cancellation and get a refund. No answer, tried again after I recieved an email that wine had shipped. Emailed again to stop the shipment and recieve a refund. Crickets. Called several times, no answer. Wine came, called again finally an answer with the most snooty man stating he can not give me a full refund even if I go through hassel of shipping the wines back. Horrible customer service and definately not worth over $150 fpr 6 bottles. You might think the anitial promotion is a steal but not worth it, trust me! It is a recket and shame on the "cutomer service" rep.

I have to admit, I ordered from Vinesse Wines after receiving an advertisement in the mail and I read the reviews AFTER I ordered. I was completely freaked out after all the negative reviews. Turns out, I got EXACTLY what I ordered, on time, and clean! The only thing I agree with is the lack of notification before shipment. However, I got my first shipment in a timely manner and I was able to cancel so easily! Other posts freaked me out about the inability to cancel but I emailed the support email and received confirmation within 20 minutes.

I've been a member of Vinesse for a year now. The wine started off ok but the quality seemed to go down over time. The 12 case price however remains the same high price. The latest case cost $290 with free delivery. This time the wines seemed cheap looking. I was able to source pricing for 9 of 12 bottles for a total of $120. I couldn't find a price for the remaining 3 bottles but would estimate may $15 each. This means Vinesse has added a shocking $125 to the retail value of the wine! I called to complain and was told that they don't go by the value of the wine and they just charge the same whatever they put in the box! Really! This is a dishonest and immoral business to only way I can get a refund is by paying UPS $60 to send it back. Nobody likes to feel ripped off and this dreadful company deserves to go out of business as they take advantage of people with what seems like a really cheap deal at first for good wine

Caveat Emptor
January 30, 2021

Misleading advertisements/descriptions are intentional IMO. Be careful when ordering from this company. When they use a description of 1 bottle that could be any size (750ml, 375ml, 187? Ml) per Andrew the service representative.

Bank theft
December 28, 2020

I purchased an introductory offer from Vinesse (8 bottles) for $39.98. I sent a check to avoid them later charging my credit card for unwanted shipments. A month or so later I got an email advising that a new shipment was being sent. I immediately called customer service and told them to cancel that shipment. They said "too late, it shipped yesterday". I had not been notified before and had no opportunity to decline! I told them I would not accept that and would refuse the shipment, which I did do when it arrived. I also formally canceled my "wine club account". When my next bank statement arrived there was a charge from my checking account paid to Vinesse for $137.71! I complained to the bank and they are working on it. A few days later Vinesse emailed me to say they had credited "my account" for $96 that I could use to purchase wine! Apparently they had charged me for shipping the refused wine shipment both directions to the tune of $40+! If there happens to be a class action suit against Vinesse, count me in!

Awful wine club! I tried this out (like a sucker) for the original introductory offer. They tacked on an extra charge without my consent on the next round, and called it a "holiday special." In fact, the wine was terrible, and the charge showed up on my card without them telling me. When I called to complain, they refused to give me a refund!

So I signed up for this with a promo that came with my husbands cigars. I hated the wine and threw out 3 of the 6 bottles. Tried canceling and their website is made to confuse you. It sends you in circles and the cancel button takes you right back to the front page. I emailed and had them say they would cancel and that no orders were currently pending. The next day a $149.07 charge hits my account. I email and nothing. I contacted my bank and this company said that a delivery was shipped to me and they never recvd a cancellation request. They provided a ups delivery note. My ring never caught this delivery and I never signed. I have always had to have someone 21 or older sign for all wine deliveries. They then said - In their very confusing email- that they would submit a refund but not in the form of the wine. As of today no refund. And no crappy wine. When I contacted them again this is what I got: contact customer service. So who has been emailing me? And apparently they are liars. So no wine and I'm out $149.07. This is a scam.

9/*******: I Grabbed introductory offer from Acorns.com for $40+ called the American Cellars Wine club. While on the site (on a Saturday) I clicked the World of Wines club link to investigate and was IMMEDIATELY charged for joining the new club. I expected to be able to review and confirm before being charged. The total charge to my card was $164, I assumed it was for 12 bottles of wine (6 intro wines + 6 new club wines).

9/14/2020: I could not reach customer service (chat/email ONLY) until after the weekend and by then they said it was too late to cancel. No worries, they stopped any more auto shipping and gave me the option to refuse the shipments in order to get refund. I opted to take the 12 bottles of wine for $164.

9/17/2020: A shipment of 6 bottles arrived. The World of Wine club shipment included only 3 brands (2 of each), not much variety for a club, but the wine was pretty good. I expected the intro shipment later.

10/07/2020: I contacted customer service again to see what happened to my introductory shipment. I was informed, "After reviewing our notes I see that your ACWC membership was cancelled on 09/14/2020 via chat. Therefore your Introductory offer that was scheduled to process on 10/5/20 did not go through because you canceled before this date"...
Furthermore, "... only charged for the TWOW shipment the fee for 6 bottles in the TWOW club is $154.49 plus taxes and surcharges.". I was expecting to start an intro to the club for $40+ for 6 bottles and ended up paying over $27 PER bottle (incl. Tax/shipping).

BEWARE the site and the club.
There's no way to see itemized receipts,
There's no confirmation of purchases before being charged,
The CLUB shipments have a small variety (I ONLY got 3 brands).

Please do yourself a favor and avoid this company and their mediocre wine. They will randomly charge you with no notice. When you call or chat with customer service they'll tell you that your box hasn't even been shipped but claim that because it's in the pipeline for shipment it cannot be reversed, even though it's not due to actually ship out to you for sometimes several weeks. Customer service is not at all helpful. They blame their packing process. If they're getting so many complaints and not revising said process it says a lot about what kind of business you're dealing with. Good luck to you if you hand over your info to this company. You'll need it.
