These people are crooks. I signed up for the club, got a first shipment of very average wines. Called them several weeks later to cancel the account and was told that they had already shipped me another case! (They are supposed to send them once a month, meaning every 30 days) I told them that I didn't want it and would refuse delivery and ship it back. They said that was fine, but they would charge me shipping and a restocking fee of almost $40! They were unwilling to waive it. I am fighting it with my credit card company. Do yourself a favor and don't buy from them!
I have received two shipments so far and all have been poor quality wine. When I tried to cancel they wanted me to pay restocking fees although they claim you never pay for wine you don't like. And the customer service person I spoke with ended up lying to me although I don; t know if he did that on purpose or just because he didn't know what he was doing.
Avoid at all costs.
I'd like to understand two things; why everything I'm sent is from last year and why their website doesn't tell you how to cancel the membership. I just opened a Barbera from Italy which is awful. There are much better wine clubs out there with a better selection.
I called them today and inquire something and the lady on the other line was yelling at me. I have't tried their wine yet but already had a bad feeling. Of note, they also charge a $31 (or something like that) membership fee that they don't tell you.
I think all the other reviews say what I feel. This company is a rip-off and their so-called Club doesn't give you notice that it will be shipping and how much the cost will be. Of course when you call them they'll say oh everything was in writing with your first order when I don't recall seeing it but they have their selves covered somehow. I didn't know it was coming until I saw a charge on my card and it was too late according to the lady. She was very pleasant but basically it was tough stuff, you should have read all the information. And I agree from the others that the wine is pretty tacky. Another expensive lesson learned about clubs. Never again. I wish I had read these reviews before even taking the trial offer. The wine in the trial offer was not even worth what I paid for it.

I just cancelled my subscription with Vinesse. The first batch of wines are very affordable, but not very good quality. The corks in the bottle were so dried out there was no way to remove them without them breaking up and falling in the wine.
When I tried to cancel my account, they told me I had a shipment too far in the works to cancel (more than a week out) so if I wanted to refuse the wine when it was delivered. I would be charged $28 shipping and handling and $15 restocking fee. I wish I'd read some of these reviews before I signed up. Word to the wise. Don't waste your money.
Vinesse is the only wine club that I have dealt with and I have dealt with 4 or 5 in the past who doesn't notify you that a shipment is being sent and how much the wine will cost. I received a shipment of 6 bottles which cost me $140 with out an email being sent ahead of time. I would never spend over $20 per bottle on wines. They would take it back but I pay postage and there is a 50% restocking charge. All other wine clubs notify me before sending wine. When talking to Vinesse customer service they stated that I joined by mail and all the information was on the mailer about future shipments. I don't recall seeing that but that is possible as I no longer have the mailing.
That in my opinion is taking advantage of people. Also later I found out that Vinesse is a supporter of the NRA and is their official Wine club. Be careful with this business. Read everything carefully before joining.
Research any wine they sell and there is no winery associated with it. The wine is not good. I got my first two shipments with in 28 days of each other and they were both shipped in extremely hot weather (80+ degrees). Read the terms of service carefully before signing up.
Hello,
Our members' satisfaction with the quality and value of our wine selections is our highest priority. All our wines pass a rigorous and competitive review by our highly experienced tasting panel. We source wines in many different ways, including directly from wineries in the US and abroad, through distributors and through trusted wholesalers and importers. Sometimes, we act as a "negociant" and work directly with foreign and domestic wineries to produce custom wines for our customers but that cannot be labeled with existing brand names. These negociant wines must be labeled with unique new and distinct names to protect existing brands and sources. Sometimes, our best values for our customers are found through negociant arrangements as existing high quality wines are sold for far less than their full price to us and the savings are passed to our members. If ever you are unsatisfied with the wine selected for you for any reason, you are welcome to make use of our satisfaction guarantee. We would like to apologize for any wines you received that were deemed unsatisfactory. We do have a satisfaction guarantee that we encourage our members to take advantage of. If you are interested in receiving replacement bottles, a representative at our Customer Support Center would be happy to get you started!
Ordered wines from these people in May. The shipment was late. Customer service told me the shipper returned it due to damage. Supposedly another was sent but hasn't appeared yet and the shipper doesn't recognize the tracking number they sent me. They did send an email asking for a review of the wines. Sounds like corporate confusion.
I can't reach customer service no matter which extension I use. Now I am stuck with paying for 15/bottle of wine I don't want and can't complain about bad bottles. I do not remember the bottles being this bad ever. I literally cannot stop these shipments, no notifications are sent and when you call, you get a recording to try online. The online web site is not working, you cannot reset. Are they out of business?
I can't reach them by phone (call drops as soon as you do not enter an extension) or by website (Website not found). I want to cancel my membership. There is no way to reach them to do this and I am concerned shipments are going to start coming and charges start adding up on my credit card. If you haven't signed up for this, don't do it until further notice! Reaching them is apparently an issue for a lot of folks, not just me! The wine was not even that good, IMHO.
I signed up for the great introductory offer and there was NOTHING that said I was joining a club. I got the second shipment for $120 - after waiting a week for it to be delivered - and I'm done with the "convenience". I'd rather shop myself. I plan on cancelling my membership today, hopefully with no issues. Also... why am I not able to cancel online? I do not recommend.
Hello Catherine,
We’re very sorry to hear that your experience with us was anything but pleasant! We strive to ensure that each of our members’ expectations are met above and beyond what they would experience with any other wine club. Our tasting department carefully selects wines from wineries who have fine-tuned their craft into unique and special varietals to be sent to you, our valued members. With our years of experience in this vast industry, we’ve built exclusive relationships with wineries all over the world. Many of the wines we offer are not available to the public, and you won’t find them anywhere else. With our huge selection of wines that we offer, we run specials to entice wine lovers of all kinds. It is listed on all of the promotions we have that you are enrolling into a wine club that include automatic future shipments. The price is listed with this information as well as there being no obligation to continue with us should you choose not to. All of this information is also listed within the confirmation email that we send out after an enrollment is completed, granted an email is put on file. Within this email, you can see the dates of your 2nd and 3rd wine club shipments as well, in case you need to make arrangements to alter them. We would like to apologize if this was missed for any reason. Our members are able to delay any shipment for up to 6 months, no questions asked. We also offer the option of slowing down the automatic shipments to occur every other month or once a quarter. All of these options are listed within our Member Service Portal on our website, where you can cancel any wine clubs you are enrolled into with us. We would invite you to try our wine club again with this new information as it seems it was missed on your first attempt with us. We appreciate your feedback as it will help us grow as a company..
They nab you with their promo offer and make it very hard to cancel. They ship out the next consignment without checking if you're ready for it. I cancelled the membership but they had already shipped out a consignment, and though I never accepted delivery they insisted on charging a 15% fee for Restocking and Shipping costs. Stay away and go with WSJ wines instead. You can order as and when you want.
Hello Nilita,
We do apologize for any misunderstanding with the way in which our wine club operates. We do have scheduled deliveries set up for your wine club. You can alter these dates and customize orders, but we do ask this be done prior to a shipment processing. Again, we do apologize for any confusion in this matter.
Beware. Was assessed a 30 dollar annual fee - which was never disclosed during sign-up, in the welcome email, or anywhere on their website (including their FAQ and policy section which has a subsection about Memberships but conveniently omits any information/disclosure of an annual fee). When I contacted support and asked them to cancel my account and refund this fee (that was never disclosed), they said they mailed this information via a letter and that the fee could be applied to any purchase as a voucher and was nonrefundable. I stated that they still need to disclose this information more clearly, and much earlier in the process - like, when you sign up and in the welcome email and on the website. They reiterated that they did disclose it - via a letter they mailed (which probably looked like spam and I never saw or opened) "so that I'd have a hard copy". It's obviously deliberately poor business practice to not let a customer know there's an annual fee when they sign up, and to only provide that information via snail mail, when it's an online wine club (in 2022). This was a deliberate attempt to conceal an annual fee. I would not recommend this club and it makes me even more uneasy that they continue to possess my credit card information and there exists no way for me to remove it.
I answered an ad for 6 bottles with two bonus bottles. After I received the shipment the first wine I tried was a "bonus". California Pinot Noir 2017. The cork was so dry it broke apart trying to get it out. It was obvious this wine had not been stored properly. The wine tasted like vinegar with a terrible after taste. When I called customer service and got Eric the "manager", he said they would replace the bottle with my next shipment. This was not what the ad said. Eric truly did not care about me, the client, and told me he would just cancel my membership. I said fine. Stay away from this company. They do not stand behind their ads, could care less about customers and send bad wine. If there were zero stars that's what I would give them.
$25 for $5 wine. Very bad customer service. They don't care about people just $$$. If you don't like the wine they will replace it only when you order more wine. The labels are also suspect. Stay away from this company, buy local.
When you start, its hard to stop! I had to cancel my credit card to get them to stop shipping. And if they leave it on your porch, I have pre-signed with delivery companies, you can't return without 15% restock fee. What a bunch of pooh! I'm posting on Facebook and Twitter not to do business with them.
After initial shipment they sent another, which was refused. They charged "shipping" and restocking" fees anyhow. Said they didn't notify me because they didn't have my email, which was clearly on the order form. Given the other reviews, they evidently have numerous ways of dealing dishonestly. Think of how much money they can make on the same case of wine that they can send numerous times to victims who don't want them
Saw an ad on Facebook with an introductory offer of 6 bottles for $29.99 with absolutely NO mention of automatic enrollment in a wine club... In fact, it stated that there was no obligation to purchase anything else. I placed the order and immediately received an email stating that I was now enrolled in the "American Cellars Wine Club" and I would be receiving monthly shipments of 6 bottles at $16 each plus shipping. In no way did I ever agree to any enrollment nor was I advised that the initial introductory offer automatically enrolled you.
I immediately sent an email cancelling my membership and my initial order and received no response. I called and was told that the ad stated that I would be enrolled in a wine club... WRONG!
Stay away from these thieves!
I signed up for the airlines promotion and was immediately charged $41.00 to my card which I was presume is a membership fee that is not disclosed any place obvious on their site, I searched for it before joining and finding nothing about it, I presumed there is one. Now I have to try to cancel and hopefully get the fee returned.
Will report back later - customer service is closed for the weekend.
Answer: I don; t know what the policy is. They did agree to cancel the monyhly membership after much talking but claimed the box of wine had been sent out. They asked me not to accept the wine but UPS delivered it to a neighbor, therefore, I had to pick it up and return it. I had to pay UPS for returning the wine. It cost me money and I got no value.
Answer: I am in the same position! The website isnt even working and I cant find a phone number
Vinesse has a rating of 1.3 stars from 317 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Vinesse most frequently mention customer service, credit card and wine club. Vinesse ranks 100th among Wine sites.
We apologize for any inconvenience in this matter. We do list our return policy on our website and also have this information available on our promotions. We do accept refused shipments as a form of return, but the credit issued is less the shipping and handling and a 15% restocking fee. This is due to the method in which the shipments are returned to us. We use temperature controlled trucks to ship the wines out of our facilities, but when a shipment is refused, it is placed on a regular shipping truck to be sent back to our warehouse. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience in this matter.
