Difficult to get surveys
January 25, 2022

I've found that this site you can most definitely make money on. But it also gives an impression that you must have a unique background such as a college degree. Most surveys I found that I actually had experience with I still could not get and I don't know why. I've only managed to make $10 so far but it's a frustrating process.

This site used to be good, I even landed 60$ live conversation tests before (1 hour on videotalk = 60$), but that was before... In the last year, they really screwed up... Customer service takes weeks or months to get back to you when you have even the most basic request, screener got extremely difficult and ultimately I stopped receiving tests at all. I wrote to them about that and they deactivated my account, well I said very good as I wasnt using anymore anyway so less of my data that you have stored, the better. I suggest to avoid this site

I became a user testing panelist about 2 or so months ago and I was averaging 4-7 tests a week. Than 2 weeks ago I get a email from them stating that I was recognized as someone banned and my account was disabled and about 70 dollars in tests were voided.

I responded with how could I be recognized when it was my first time having a account. To which I have yet to get a response.

My experience tells me if you do well they kill your account and accuse you having a previous account.

I do not recommend them at all.

No support
July 17, 2021

I opened a case with their support because their app suddenly closed while uploading a completed test so consequently, I received no credit. I am on my third email to them over the past week and a half, and still no reply. There is no phone number to call and it's apparent, they just don't care!

You do make money off of this UserTesting (my average is $20-40/week). That's obviously not enough to live on, so don't expect it to be your main way to gain income or even your main side gig.
The only reason I'm writing a review is because I've had technical difficulties. Long story short, I took a survey using my iPhone. When I got to the last question, the test unexpectedly stopped recording and failed to upload. This happened a second time after, but before it happened the first time, I could take tests provided for phone just fine. So, that means $20 have already gone down the drain. BUT I have made $140 off this website in the past three months, meaning I really only made $120 with the $20 lost. This is because I am able to take desktop surveys with no complications whatsoever. What I have decided to do from now on is ONLY take their desktop surveys because after losing $20, I'm not willing to have happen a third time.
The reason UserTesting, which is a 100% real website, has such negative reviews on SiteJabber is because UserTesting customers have too high expectations for this website. They come in believing this will be their main side gig. But I came in knowing this wouldn't be the case since it takes such a long time for websites to find the correct pool of customers that will best suit their needs.
Did anyone else experience difficulties taking the tests?

Just don't
June 29, 2021

I was really excited to make a bit of profit,(let me note how you wouldn't get many tests if you're not from the US)
I did my first test, they said I did the option as I work in healthcare when in reality I'm just a med student, I'm sure I didn't just press that when there's an option to click "full-time student", in my test there was a task "to pretend I work in the healthcare field" i did so and thought it all went well, next thing I know I got a 1 start because allegedly i lied when in reality I'm 100% sure I didn't lie about my profile, they said the answers didn't match blah blah and that they asked for a refund because of what I did, I couldn't even find more answers and ask them for a second chance, they deactivated my account and banned me from making another one.
I'm really upset as I didn't intend in violating their terms, I wish I was more careful I want to take the blame but they shoved it in my face in the meanest way ever,

A big waste of time
March 29, 2021

I question the people saying they are making hundreds of dollars a month. The reality is, you don't qualify for over 90% of the tests. You are lucky if you can do 3 tests a week if you spend all day monitoring user testing on your computer, phone or tablet. You will make $20-$30 (maybe) if you spend 8 hours a day monitoring 5 days a week. If you want to make less than $1 an hour for your time, go for it.

User Testing is Real
March 11, 2021

I am alway wondering if a website is real and if they will pay for you doing questionnaire, in person surveys, online surveys, etc. Well User Testing is real and fun to do. Amazing all their clients that use the site and the questions we get ask to give our input into. I like the fact they are listening because I have opinions and always wondered how to be an influencer. Where here you go and you get paid. I would much rather do this than uber, instacart, etc.

I really like Usertesting and have been a tester since 2017. I've seen good changes and not so good. For instance, having a limited profile and that profile does not get referenced it seems. Qualifying gets tedious when if the question was a profile statistic you wouldn't have to take the qualifier. Not a fan for the new update as the old system was much more pleasing to the eyes. Still the best for UX testers imo.

Yes I did apply, they gave me 2nd chance. I was so happy but then boom no work, no clients, result? Waste of time. Nope. You won't gain anything not unless you are from US. Sadly I'm not from that country. So don't expect on this type of job or company. I did wait everyday for one client but nah. Just find a legitimate job and hustle on it.

Customer service is non existant. First, you'll most likely apply for like 2 tests out of fifty so it takes weeks to get something and sometimes other people will take it right before you can start. That was annoying but I was like fine whatever I guess. BUT THEN I spent 45 minutes on this stupid product review on my phone (they put like fifty questions for ten bucks) and then I try to upload and it keeps telling me it can't. I think maybe my battery got low but I didn't realize until after. But then I try to report a problem and that doesn't work either so I email them like yo I spent a looong time on this and it won't tell me what is wrong. They email back an automated message saying this might be why it didn't upload and good luck next time. TRASHHHHHHH

Concept seems a good idea. However, tests are not well paid in comparison to other sites, ie; $60 for an hour-long interview compared to £75-£100 on other sites and market research companies. They don't seem to use your bio info to screen out tests which aren't relevant so you have to wade through many screeners. Customer assistance not present. I am quitting as did a $60 interview recently where the company said my comments were extremely helpful and my work experience was very relevant, (company selling fonts/typeface use to graphic designers). They then complained and said that my work experience was not relevant to the research and asked UserTesting for a refund. UserTesting do not support testers at all, totally confused after spending an hour talking to a company happily with good feedback but UT will obviously issue refunds to keep high-paying clients over protecting testers.

I can understand why others are leaving bad reviews, but I don't believe the reviewers were honest about the amount of effort they put in for their results. You do have to fill out screeners and lose more than you win... just like any other commission or gig based job. I have never not been paid for my work, unless I was told why my payment was cancelled (It has happened twice and I agreed with the reasoning). I have had technical issues I had to contact them for. Sometimes I waited 2 days, sometimes I waited 5 days, but I have always received a response and in most cases the response was more than I had asked for. I average $200-$400 USD per month and last year made approx. $5,000USD. If you're willing to work and keep your quality high, this job pays!

This review is particularly for their "Tester Support." Apparently their Tester Support is still in the idea phase, because they seem to not have any. On their website and when you call them it says they provide Tester Support exclusively online at *******@usertesting.com

I have been a tester now going on 2 months, I have never gotten a response from them. Between using the Contact Us support ticket feature on their website, sending emails directly to the email listed for support and using the "Report A Problem" feature on my mobile phone when a tests has a issue, I would say I have sent at least 20 emails since I started back in May, 2020. Over that 2 month span I have gotten no responses. I have their email added to my email address book so I know its not going to spam, they are just not responding.

The latest issue is not affecting my directly financially. Over the past week I have had 7 mobile tests not load. 7 in a row. I pass the screeners and as it is accessing the test it gives me a error message saying its not available. For it to be 7 in a row and only happen when im on mobile it has to be a issue on their end. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and the app has all permissions. That's $70 now that im not getting. After making over $500 in my 1st month I was looking forward to continuing but now this is happening and I already know I can not count on their "Tester Support Team" to fix the issue.

AVOID! SCAM!
June 30, 2020

From my experience, it is NOT possible to make worthwhile money from UserTesting, but it is possible for them to make money from you. This is a SCAM. They endlessly collect data about you, by surveying you for free: products you use, career related maters, etc. None of this has anything to do with your ability to navigate a web site. They get as big of a digital finger print from you as possible, by forcing you to use specific browsers, downloading aps., using multiple devices, even asking for access to your LinkedIn profile. I was never able to "qualify" for a test, so I spent significant time and never made any money. AVOID!

After about 70 screeners, I started earning cash; it took me like three days of just consistently having the tab open and waiting for dings while I did work or played video games. I would pause everything and take 20 seconds on a screener and then see if I was available to take the test. Remember to speak clearly and always follow the instructions. Have made $150 in exactly 26 days. And all together that was about 3hrs of work. One was a $30 live call.

As other reviews have been saying, you get asked a ton of screener questions in order to qualify to take a test. You are almost never qualify and instead have given them valuable marketing information about yourself for free.

1 of the customer rated me 3 and my overall rating got under 4 and I stopped receiving tests. Wrote customer care for another review but no response. Finally decided to close and make another account which they deactivated as 1 person can have only 1 account as per policy. If they have strong rules, they should also have strong customer care and also should take care of their testers. I guess they pay us 10$ per tests but they are making way more than that.
