We got a free month for renting a truck. Gave us a broom closet for $144 per month, but we're advertising 10×10 for $125. When I inquired they told us they didn't have any. When we emptied our unit 9 days after we paided for the month we ask for a partial refund and we're told NO! We were also told by the clerk who checked us out of our unit "oh good, we have people waiting for units" very disappointed
I reserved a uhaul cargo van received my confirmation and pick up point and time. Came to Toronto called to confirm for them to tell me it was canceled due to overbooking. Booked for a move now I'm stuck no mowing truck. Called customer service only to be hung up on by 3 manager supervisors and the 4 saying nothing they can do to help me as there are no vans available. So now how do I move there answer was Not my problem. Poor customer service will ever use this company or recommend it to anyone. Be sure you call and confirm your rental as they do not call or email you to tell you your rental has been cancelled.
I reserved an 8' pickup truck, for a friend, online using a major credit card. I then called the 800# to confirm my reservation & payment options. My reservation was confirmed & was told I needed to be with the person at pickup time & a major credit or debit card would be needed. I later called to change the pickup time which was confirmed & also payment methods. When we arrived the next morning to pick the truck up, the 1st thing they told us is they didn't have a pickup truck available. I told them that I confirmed my reservations twice. Then they say we have a pickup truck but it's out of gas & we would have to go right to the gas station & the amount of gas the truck is returned with would be deducted from payment. Finally, they wouldn't take a debit card as payment! I again called the 800# & was told debit couldn't be used for pickup trucks & vans but the U-Haul website says even says credit or debit card!
This has to be the worse company on the face of the earth. I rented a truck and was allotted 24hr. I picked up the truck and told the lady I was just going to use it for a few hours. To be exact I picked it up at 4.45pm and bopped it off at 8.23 pm that same day. I was charged $20.00 for dropping after the locution was closed. The sad thing about I was told by the manager that i would not be charger. Alex the manager was very rude and obnoxious. He even stated to me that he's being there for 30 years and will be there for 30 more years. How cocky and ignorantly can you be? Please save yourself the the headache. Go to Penske or Enterprise...
I booked a car hauler in May 2023 for Aug 2023. I wanted to make sure it was correct and went to the location and it was booked incorrectly. Was booked with dropping it off to the location where we were going. It was to be booked for a return to pick-up location. So now there is no trailer available to me. Thanks Uhaul for making this a horrible experience. I have gave you so much business and will no longer will!
When you select a location to rent a trailer vehicle uhaul.com changes the location after you book it based on their own scheduling. That means if you think you booked to pickup in Tustin California, you may actually be scheduled to pickup in Garden Grove California. This is a terrible customer experience. Why have online reservations at all if selecting a location means nothing?
I rented a tow dolly for are car. After arriving at the pick up site for the truck and tow dolly I went in and paid for both. The guy came out to help but the car on the dolly. My boyfriend said it wasn't going to work cause the car was to low to the ground but the guy insisted it would he tried 3 times and finally after the last night he got the bumper stuck and had my boyfriend back it off which damaged the whole passenger bumper. I then said I didn't want the dolly. After we got to are new place I called the main office the lady told me they will write up a report and someone would get back to us in 48 hrs. A week later I called and this lady said they are not responsible for the damage and my boyfriend was at fault for the damage to the vehicle. Now we have to come up with a thousand dollars to fix the damage. Not happy with them at all. I even took at extra insurance for the car
Mileage was way off gas was way off dirty truck broke door and employee said the truck shouldn't have went out, after I brought back never rent from spring place road bad company and workers don't care for the uhaul company sad!
I got a quote online for 2 hours with a 10 foot truck for 29.95$ plus km's (we did 6km). Then I received a call telling me that the 10 foot truck was not available anymore (even if I had reserved it). I only could take a 15 foot truck for an extra 10$. At the counter they do not have access to all your reservation info, so we had to repeat everything. They took over 150$ for a truck that should have cost Max 65$
I called, they don't know what to do. I submitted a complaint case and noone answers it. DO NOT RESERVE WITH THEM, THEY WILL TAKE A RANDOM AMOUNT OF MONEY OFF YOUR CARD AND THEN NEVER ANSWER YOU!
This company lied and said I owed them after I rented a truck. They waited until I needed it again to try to with-hold renting to me to make me pay them extra money for "going over the milage" the last time. Sure. I only drove two houses up to move furniture Uhaul. Liars and theives. You have been warned about them!
Depending on location where truck is picked up and return, they have different policies. And it seems like the main office do not care about other location. Seems like employees do not care at all about their customer. I emailed the main office and all they said is this is our policy and sorry about miscommunication and misleading information. Only sorry but no solution. At this stage, I do not even bother to reply now. Because they do not care about their customer at all. Every employees are probably fed up working there now. SHAME!
We used ubox to ship our stuff from NY to AZ. When we setup the NY delivery, we also setup when they would drop our stuff off in AZ, providing an address and everything. We were given a guarantee verbally that our things could be delivered by that date and were informed that uhaul would contact us the day prior to setup a delivery time. They never did, so of course we called them to touch base. We were told that we never setup a delivery drop off and that we would have to wait multiple days until they could drop off our ubox. We asked about other options (renting a truck and picking it up ourselves, etc), but those were unavailable that day. So now we are stranded without any belongings in a completely new state. Do not trust anything they say unless you have a reservation number and written confirmation!
Rentals are usually 24h, but to be polite and only use what I needed I estimated I'd be done in 12h (lots of trucks at this location). Ran into traffic, returned it after 13 hours, and I'm charged DOUBLE THE PRICE. They charged me for an extra day. As other frustrated customers have noted: wait on the phone for hours just to get tossed around.

Happens every time, I book a specific trailer that showes in inventory at a specific location. I go through all their BS sign-in, email my license, blah blah. All good so far right? WRONG! After confriming the pickup with the store you will get a phone call from U-Haul telling you that NO, you don't really have a confirmed reservation and they don't have the trailer you spent 30 minutes booking. In fact they don't even offer you a viable solution. They can't be trusted, don't waste your time. We unded up renting a truck from Home Depot. Don't waste your time with U-Haul!

Sure I'm Norma upset about over mikes, fuel charge is the thing, I didn't know I owed 8.00 in fuel then they nailed for 56.09,8.00 fuel, 30.00 in over mikes, which I knew that, and then charged my account total of 56.00 cuz I didn't pay what I didn't k ow I owed which was 8.00, no more uhaul for me Penske here I come next time
Pricing & pick up on line MISERABLE ~ I had the truck for maybe an hour 1/2 maybe 12 miles from storage to new apartment to drop if that. I just don't understand why so expensive. When advertising is $19.99 can someone explain what exactly that means because it's not what your paying i understand if I had a truck for the entire day but seriously I always let people know about where you should go to or use something but I would NEVER say to rent a truck from U-haul. It ask for proof of purchase but upload button would not work
Booked a truck online 3 months prior and uhaul sends a message the week before canceling. Booked a trailer and now uhaul has booked me with the smaller trailer from a location 2 hrs away. Completely useless.
My order number was CA3CCCD5. I ordered moving boxes online at 6 am. Paid 21$ for them to be delivered by 12. At 12:30, I called. They delivered them to the wrong place. They sent me an email saying they couldn't find my place. I gave them detailed instructions. How to get here, the name of the apartment complex. The address of the complex office. The gate code. What I drive. I told them the name of the cross street 1/2 mile from me. I got a call saying it would be here at 2:30. At 5, still not here. WOW! I was told the 2nd driver couldn't find my place. I've list an entire day of packing. I went to the u haul website. It said I'd already left a review!@@ I think I'd remember doing that! Good thing I wasn't paying them to move me!

Whenever I rent from U-Haul, I always get the Safe Move/Safe Tow figuring it covered me if anything happened to what I was renting. NOT TRUE. My car and the U-Haul trailer were stolen. I filed a claim for the contents of the trailer. I discovered that Safe Move/Safe Tow only cover accident loss NOT theft loss. My bad for not reading the fine print, I guess, but would be good it they said this a bit more prominently in their materials. Luckily the trailer was recovered or I'd be on the hook for the cost of a trailer too. If I'd been renting a truck I'd be on the hook for even more money. As I understand it, my car insurance would not cover the cost of a stolen trailer or truck.

Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
