I live in melbourne australia. I had a early morning hospital appointment today. Only my seccond time using the service and i will never use again. It cost me double it would have had i waited for a cab. Incidently the app told me i would be altered to a drop in surge if any in 30 mins! In that time i could have and should have called a normal taxi. Clear scam there considering this service is supposed to be on demand and i did not have the time to wait aroung for 30 mins for ubers claculations. But i wwas not prepared for it to be so outragously overpriced.
I believe the app scams by telling you to wait till the surge drops or pay a series of charges. I'm on my way to the hospital waiting in the cold i dont have time to break down the charge list nor did i expect that in such a short distance i would be charged double.
What should have been a 25 dollar fare to over 50!
We caught a cab on the way back it was quick, hassale free and fare appropiate. UBER you just lost a customer and i will be letting others know about my experience.

On Friday, March 3rd, 2023, around 9:30 to 10:00 AM CST, in Lees Summit, MO, an Uber assinged driver named Ernesto in Independence, Missouri, was heading to my location in Lees Summit, MO, but he stopped en route for >10 minutes on E. 39th St. In Independence, MO, finally he started coming again after I Uber texted him asking if there was a delay. He started coming again as I could track him in his blue Honda car on the Uber map. When he arrived, I was at the same pick up point I always use and for which the app says to use, but he sped right past me, twice, as he sped around the hotel I was at, and he blew dangerously past me at between 40 and 50mph in the hotel parking lot on his way out of the hotel parking lot which was in a slow hotel loading and unloading zone. I waved my hands and he drove around me on purpose, so I know he saw me, but he sped away. He was already more than 10 minutes late when he arrived. Another Uber driver was immediately assigned by the Uber app but with another 20 minute wait. I will be rethinking using Uber ever again. I searched for a way to report Ernesto in the Uber app but a user can only report their actual driver. Since he did not stop to pick me up, as he knew he was late, he knew he could not get a bad review from me. That needs to be a change made by Uber management. There is no Uber hotline that I could find, except for emergencies, so I will be copying and pasting this complaint in other places on the internet in hopes that someone who cares at Uber, might make a much needed change.

Left by the roadside!
October 13, 2018

I would give Ron, uber driver from Sante Fe negative stars if I could. On Oct. 12,2018 we requested a uber driver to take us from our hotel to Sante Fe airport at 5: 30am.The driver showed up, and intrduced himself as Ron. He seemed nice enough. My wife and I got in back, and proceeded to the airport. As we're driving, my wife and I are making small talk with him(where you from, how long you been an uber driver, and so on. Said he was from NY, and had been driving for uber in Sante Fe for 4 years. He started talking about tips, which I thought was very inappropriate. He said he buys water and hand sanitizer for his customers. I said ya, looks like a wet bar back here(lol). His demeanor quickly changed. He said " you people are invading my privacy." HUH! You "have no bussuiness invading my privacy RIGHT, RIGHT" (yelling at us) SCARY! We said we're just making small talk as he continued to yell at us. Finally, I told my wife I need to record this. He heard this, pulled over, and told us to get out. It was 5:45am, 40 degrees in an area that was dark no street light or bussinesses miles from our destination. He opened my wives door, and rudely told her to get out. He threw our luggage into the street and drove away. My wife is 65, and has a sling on her arm after a surgery. We didn't know what to do. It was our first uber ride, and I'm pretty sure our last.

Uber drivers are a really mixed bag. Some are good an others don't know where they are going. They should get better training.

We called an Uber to head to the San Jose airport as we often do. Our first driver showed up and asked us where we were going and we said San Jose airport. Immediately he said he is "going to have to pass" since he wants to get home soon. He didn't want to take us that far. I find this appalling - the airport is a 18 miles, 20 minute ride away. If he didn't want to accept passengers then why did he accept our ride? We wasted 8 minutes Waiting for him for nothing.

We then called another Uber and she came after 5 minutes. She also asked us where we were going and when we told her the airport she said she had to pass because she didn't have proper authorization to make trips to the airport. Needless to say we were pretty pissed at this point but decided third time's a charm.

The third driver was 5 minutes away. We called him right then and there and specifically asked him if the airport as a destination was going to be a problem. He said "I think it's ok". Then a couple minutes later we got a cancellation notice. That is THREE DRIVERS in a row that refused to give us a ride based on our destination. It's not like we were asking to go 100 miles away. SJC is the closest airport to the Fremont area and there was no traffic at this time of day.

We ended up using Lyft and even with a 75% prime time charge, we knew we would get reliable service and a driver that was courteous and would take is to where we needed to go. And that is exactly what happened. Our Lyft got us there swiftly and with no issues or complaining about the destination. Uber, you have LOST this customer. I find this appalling and completely unprofessional. One cancellation I can maybe understand and brush off as a specific driver issue. 3 in a row means there is something systemic going on and that your customer service model is broken. Take care of your drivers so they take care of your customers.

Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Doesn't seem like there's enough reprimanding for drivers canceling on riders. Use Lyft or alternatives and stay away from Uber.

The drivers around nyc are awesome! The service of the app is very decent but still its not the perfect app out there...

Date of experience: April 5, 2019

Overview

Uber's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from a perceived lack of reliable customer service and transparency in pricing. Many customers express frustration over unexpected charges, inadequate support during issues, and poor communication from drivers and the company itself. Positive feedback is scarce, with some drivers noting satisfactory earnings and enjoyable interactions with passengers. However, the overwhelming sentiment highlights a need for improved customer care and accountability, as many users report feeling abandoned and undervalued, leading to a growing trend of customers seeking alternatives to Uber's services.
