I had user MsCheap1 criticize my post in one of the public forums, call me a troll, and tell me to "stay in Indiana". I emailed her in private, called her a "B", and set her straight. My post was deleted due to someone's hypersensitivity, likely hers. I reposted a more gently worded version. She posted a comment warning people about me. Flagged her comment as harassment and TripAdvisor did nothing. Instead, they deleted mine and somebody else's subsequent responses addressing her post. Found an email for TripAdvisor and emailed them directly. They ended up shutting my account down.

This was a clear-cut case of trolling, but I got the shaft and the troll got to keep her account. Despite being a level 6 contributor, TripAdvisor shut my account down without saying a word, and they won't answer my emails. I've had other issues where they've arbitrarily taken my review down and dance around giving you an answer why. Usually, it's a dangling "because your review does not meet our guidelines". When you ask why it doesn't meet their guidelines, they say because it doesn't meet their guidelines.

After being asked to profusely apologize several times, I got my account reinstated only to have it disabled again. When I wrote TripAdvisor, they said that I violated the guidelines again. The only thing I did after my account was re-enabled was email a user. When I asked how I violated the guidelines, they would not tell me, told me I was suspended for a month, and to contact them then

We were met on time by two river guides, Nate and Trevor, and immediately felt welcome with the invitation to a great whitewater trip. The drive was long but with Nate's expert driving, we followed the winding roads with one stop. Trevor knew many interesting details of the area and I was lucky to be able to hear them all as I sat towards the front off the van. The breakfast by the put-in was welcomed, while we watched the river rise and the boats were set up. The trip down the river was amazing and guaranteed to make you wet! Lunch was delicious and very thoughtful to dietary needs. Professional but always fun, Trevor worked to the very end with a smile. Nate took us safely home again (also smiling after driving over 200 miles), while we digested the unique experience we had together on a wild ride down the river!

During this difficult time, I was so happy to travel by Via Rail to Vancouver (Toronto-Vancouver) The service was the excellent train was very clean food was yummy and Safe, then I took another trip by Via Toronto -Ottawa also service and all associates were great. My next trip will be East Coast very soon before possible next lockdown. I do recommend using first-class (Business Class).
Thank you Via Rail associates for making my trip enjoyable and Safe.

Moderation Biased

I have been what is considered a Destination Expert for many years with over 59,000 contributions to the forums. Suddenly my status was dropped and the only explanation I have been able to obtain was from a rude moderator named Dave who says I violated guidelines. I have asked for further explanation but nothing happens. Many people have posted supporting me on the forms but they are immediately deleted from the forum. Very surprising to see such a large firm allows bullying by their employees which refusal to respond to complaints.

Our family loves reviews on Tripadvisor. We use them all the time for food and stay. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for TripAdvisorPlus. My wife booked our trip to Puerto Vallarta using them. Without going into all the details, it essentially boiled down to the hotel TripAdvisorPlus booked for us in Puerto Vallarta telling us we did not have a reservation on the day of our flight. We then informed TripAdvisor Plus of their failure to book/properly coordinate a reservation with the hotel, and then quickly made alternative reservations after asking them to cancel the reservation, so our family wouldn't be without shelter on our first night of travel. About a week later, give or take, TripAdvisor Plus' Customer Service informed us they could not refund us. They stated they could not get the money back from the hotel, and claimed the hotel stated that they found the reservation. To be fair, Customer Service listened to our concerns and appeared to understand our issue that we shouldn't be financially responsible for paying TripAdvisor Plus when the hotel they booked told us they did not have the reservation in our name. However, they failed to refund us. Then we were informed that contacting their Legal Counsel was our only chance at getting a refund. We were told we couldn't email them, only physical mail was allowed. We mailed them and about a month went by with no response. It wasn't until we found a legal department email online that they ever responded. In that response, Legal Counsel implied we were lying about the whole situation of the hotel not having the reservation. Legal Counsel then proceeded to write it didn't matter if we were telling the truth anyway, because in their contract they are not liable for the actions of third-parties like hotels. In other words, the hotel could have told us all day long they don't have a reservation for us, but TripAdvisorPlus would never have to refund our money, even though we paid TripAdvisor Plus to get us a working hotel reservation. I worked for tripadvisor. They only allow overtime for high wage workers. The food was great and the atmosphere was ok but I don't like how they conduct business for their workers or their customers. There tends to be no real savings when using them to book anything. And theres been hidden fees such as taxes or paying for parking that they don't tell you about. There are better sites to use don't waste your money here when you can get a better deal with Expedia or priceline.

We own a lake house at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. We were listed on FlipKey.com and TripAdvisor.com. We have a zero cancellation policy, because we only have 12 weeks during summer to generate rental income. A guy rented our Lake home during Memorial Day Weekend 2021. He was unhappy because the weather did not cooperate. He claimed he was unhappy because we have 2.5 baths and not three baths as listed. The site does not allow you to put down 2.5 baths. We are one toilet short of 3 baths. He was a small group of 7 family members, and lack of one toilet did not impede his use or enjoyment of our Lake home. He was pissed because the weather was bad and he could not enjoy the Lake. He never even reached out to us with a problem when he was at our house. Flip Key and Travel Advisor nevertheless just literally gave this guy a full refund, over $3,000, over our objection. Over lack of a toilet at our Lake house! This should tell you how they stand behind their hosts. Joke of a reservation site for hosts and home owners. Take your business to AirBnb. We get 95% of our renters through AirBnb and never have a problem with them as guests. Flip Key and Trip Advisor seem to be where the loser guests of the world seek comfort in, and no wonder when they get full refunds after staying at our Lake house and leaving unannounced due to the weather not cooperating. I'm an attorney and explained to them the difference between a material misrepresentation and negligible omission in an listing. A lack of a third toilet, for three adults and four kids, did not impede the guests' use of our house. Did not matter to Flip Key / Trip Advisor. Full Refund issued to the renter. Were out $3,000 on one of the busiest weekends at Lake of the Ozarks. We're removing our listing now from their service and going exclusive with AirBnb. The Shields

I turned you in the city of Colorado Springs. The people who stay in one of your houses have gatherings of more than 10 people, and, at times, I have seen 50 people over there (which is against Governor's Polis Stay at Home orders. Also, they use the fire pit in the backyard (last week for example), and I had to call the police because this violates the El Paso County and Colorado Springs fire ban. They also host events in this house, such as weddings and large and wild and drunken parties where they invite women over. They are extremely loud and disturb the peace. I will continue to notify the local authorities for as long as your guests continue to violate the fire ban orders and the stay at home orders of gatherings more than 10 people. People do not stay in this house which is under investigation as people come and go on a weekly basis and the house is not sufficiently disinfected. When I notified Trip Advisor of this, they refused to print my review and refused to regulate the houses and short term rentals they have on their website. Well, we will see how you like this review. I am a witness to one of your houses that you rent out on your website and the house is violating state and city ordinances.

To everyone reading this, I am not usually the type of person to leave reviews but our experience was so atrocious that I wanted to warn others so that know body else would have the type of experience we did with TripAdvisor. After looking online we decided to use TripAdvisor to rent out a vacation rental. Everything seemed fine until the day before our trip. Barely 24 hours before our vacation was supposed to start we received an email from TripAdvisor that the rental was no longer available. I of course assume they would make things right and help us find another rental. Instead when I called I was directed to a foreign call center where I was left on hold for over an hour and a half. Yes they sent me emails but with less than 24 hours before my trip the urgency to be able to speak to someone to resolve this should have not been the experience it was. They did absolutely NOTHING to help me. They did not help me find a new rental, they did not offer to help me with any additional cost as now there was nothing left to rent with such late notice.
I than preceded to email the president of the company thinking they would care about loosing future business as me my friends and my family have all used their platform in the past. I was redirected to another blow off email. The lady stated that this basically was not there problem and that they would be happy to help me with a future rental. Why would I ever use this company again after they ruined my family vacation? Lesson learned is to not put your trust into this platform, renters can steal your money and cancel last minute and you have no recourse, know body to talk to you, and the company DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. BEWARE WHEN USING THIS PLATFORM.

We have been permanently closed for 3 months, but cannot get TripAdvisor to remove our listing. They are disappointing people everyday as they call and we have to explain.
Not good business. They used to be on top 5-10 years ago.

Our business received a 1 star review but wait... that's not the issue, the person treated our staff with COVID19, threaded to burn down our property and continued with verbal assaults. After reporting this to the local police who are investigating and reporting to Trip Advisor they replied with "After completing a thorough investigation into your report, we've found that the review in question complies with our submission guidelines. As a result, it will remain published on Tripadvisor." complete disregard for the truth and zero accountability for the protection of business.
