My writer came up quickly with a much better resume than what I had. She answered my questions well and promptly. Considering the work done, the rates charged were very reasonable. Based on my experience I strongly recommend Topresume to anyone
TopResume provided a clear and argued assessment of my resume that gave me actionable information about how to improve it. The information about automated screening software was particularly valuable.
I'm happy with my resume now and feel more confident putting it forward for applications. It's hard to keep ahead of what employers are looking for and I was making some mistakes in both th cover letter and resume. The end result is concise and professional.
The resume returned to me was a jumbled mess of unfinished sentences, sentences that didn't make sense and unclear formatting. Some of my work history was completely deleted and dates were changed on others. When I submitted my feedback pointing out the errors and asking why these changes were made, the revised resume added back the work history but then deleted other work history instead. It is clear they do not have any concept of tech and I feel the writer was not human or at least not anyone with an expert in resume writing. You're better off just using ChatGPT to rewrite your resume.
I wish I had read the real bad reviews and not the glossy obviously fake one before wasting my money on a very poorly structured and looking resume and much worst cover letter. They dont let you know when you pay that the service has a very tight deadline. I managed to give 3 rounds of notes within hours or receiving each results, my notes were detailed and many were not implemented. I cannot use any of the docs they prepared. The cover letter english was very poorly written and would make anyone look unprofessional. I requested a refund and based on what I read here am doubtful I will get it. I cant believe they are in business, Probably because of suckers like us.
I had a very good experience wit TopResume. As a senior marketer with a very diverse background from professional sports to media to pharma, my resume was out of hand. You need an outside perspective to fine tune and optimize for resume scanners and overall recruiter search. I used the top level of service option and it was well worth it. The writer did a great first draft and with my feedback, that is always needed as it's your history you have to communicate to the writer, we were able to dial it into a polished final. This included a well thought out and clean cover letter template to use.
I have used other services over the years but would recommend these guys. Others charge way, way more and don't deliver.
This organization is a scam. My first resume was obviously thrown into a computer and they sent me what came out. I don't think anyone proofread the document. It had listed my job qualifications as Administrative in numerous places but this was for a Managerial position! Even the second submission has this listed:
Key Accomplishment:
Improved workflow efficiency and mitigated risks by taking preventive / corrective actions against violations.
It says nothing about what I accomplished, no numbers or real results and what does 'corrective actions against violations' even mean? I am not going for a prison guard job!
I will grant that the writer helped flesh out some of my sections and had good recommendations. However, I questioned the use of a semi-colon and the writer argued with me saying "it will show them [hiring company] you know how to use a semi-colon". While the use of the semi-colon could be understood where the writer placed it, the grammar he used with it did not make sense; I am an English & journalism major and I know how to use semi-colons. In the edits after the first draft, there were several spots that a different size or style of font was used on a single character of a word so that it looked very amateurish. Also, every single interviewer I've seen since I started using this new version has raised their eyebrows and said "two pages, huh?". It's worth the service if you can get it at half the price and make sure to really proof-read it for errors.
Really enjoyed working with TopResume. Their writer was very professional and did a great job communicating with me throughout the process. I also appreciated their research finding the right keywords to include in my resume.
Quick response from writer on initial version and subsequent edits. Resume looks professional and does a better job of highlighting key accomplishments than my old one did. Included everything that I asked and format is flexible enough that I can do some tweaks to tailor it to specific positions on my own. Have yet to receive any interviews after using it but I think it was a good investment nonetheless.
I decided to use this service after receiving a free critique from a job website. The critique seemed well thought out and reasonable. Once I purchased the service, I didn't receive a response for several days, but finally was notified my revision was underway. First draft seemed professional and crisp, but none of the suggestions offered in my critique were referenced nor discussed until I brought them to the writer. This seems strange to me. However, my final version included and answered all my comments and provided some description on why decisions were made. Overall I am pleased with the result, though I am still in process of using new version in my job search.
The initial questionnaire was tricky as it did not take into consideration any experience other than could be proved with figures or awards. During the process with the writer it became clear that he had no clue about my job and what it is all about. He had a toolbox of phrases and sentences and he helped to shorten the CV and make it more concise but it was hard to bring a logical flow into it. I have revised also the LinkedIn page but so far I haven't received any request from interested companies / headhunters in spite of the promises. I doubt if I would do it again.
I took help of TopResume critique, and I got their response within 2 days of sending my resume.
They broke the whole review in parts, explaining problems with each section, helping me understand what a hiring team would infer from my choice of words, what alternatives are there for those keywords, contrasting old techniques with new ones.
At the end they also gave me an ATS(Applicant Tracking System) review. This was meant to understand how the ATS system would characterize my CV, and what would they think of me, based on all the information I have provided.
They also gave some insight into the design and relative placement of content on it, and which items are more relevant to the job description, which ones add little to it's impact.
All in all, a thorough read, and totally worth taking this review. It will help you get a fresh perspective on your own profile.
Totally recommended!
I paid for the full and premium package - the materials provided did not take into account any of the content I shared whatsoever - they issued generic templates which are no better than those in MS Word. I offered to have phone calls and gave advice as to how we can get to a better outcome... all ignored. My costs were a write off and I will go elsewhere. A total waste of time.
My case was assisted by Matt and Katie, with the different document provided he was able to create a hole resume like if we have a face to face conversation of my professional experience. The first draft design and wording exceed my expectation. As recommendation I suggest review the service time frame provide, should be more than 7 days... I strongly recommend use TopResume.
A less than a 1 star rating. They did not incorporate the changes I wanted. An awful F minus job. They do not believe in customer service; they keep adding additional charges. Biggest mistake I ever made. Save your money, especially if you are unemployed.

Top Resume is a total rip-off I started researching the software these companies use to scan resumes? You would think that since they cater to a diverse audience that it would scan with the standards they Guaranteed? Nope It's been almost a month and not one interview! Please find another company don't be duped like this individual!
Hi Richard,
We are sorry for the experience you have had. I see that Customer Support has assisted you. If you have any additional questions, please email support@topresume.com. Thank you.
In the process of applying for jobs, I was asked if I wanted to have my CV reviewed by TopResume. Not thinking much of it, I said "sure, why not." A few days later I received exhaustive and meaningful feedback on why my resume was not getting noticed. Coming from academia, I've never really had to put together an industry resume and now know where my short-comings are. I can't express how surprised I was to get such good, personalized information for free!
Recently, I began searching for a new job. I updated my resume and submitted it to several companies expecting them to contact me immediately. A few weeks went by. No response. TopResume offered to critique my resume for free in an effort to identify ways that I could improve it. After reviewing their suggestions, I allowed them to modify my resume accordingly. Complete transformation! The format and content was made dramatically different. I applied to jobs with my updated resume and obtained two interviews within a week. The recruiters mentioned how impressed they were with my resume's appearance. TopResume is the primary reason why my opportunities have increased and I'm very thankful for that.
I entered with trepidation having used an in-person service years ago and paid way too much for way too little. I opted for just the Resume (no online consultation). The online response is concise and you receive benchmarks every step of the way through the process. So besides being timely as promised I then received a resume that blew me away. Besides the cutting edge formatting the verbiage and descriptions were like looking at a much better candidate that what I thought was a good job on my own. I found this service to be a great value and I just signed my offer letter for my new position (paying much better) today!
Answer: It depends, if you want to pay for a mediocre format riddled with errors that has the language equivalent of a high-schooler. You will end up paying $100 for something you could have sat down and done in an hour and a half.
Answer: Hi Carolyn, Thanks for asking! The process will begin with a questionnaire. If after you submit the questionnaire, the writer has follow-up questions, the writer will reach out.
Answer: Be careful with this company. They post 1000s of fake reviews to hide the real ones. Note that they do not post their phone number or address on the website. I had to file with the BBB to get a refund after never being contacted. This is a SCAM company - you are better off writing your own resume, trust me on this
Answer: You will not get your money refunded, no matter how bad the result is. I tried.
Answer: Because this company is a sham. Please do not waste your money. There are plenty of reputable services that you can use.
Answer: I second that, Alex! This service is a sham! I've been assigned 3 different writers and have received a subpar product back each time, written by someone who's first language is clearly not English. The best part, I paid $100+ for a "LinkedIn Rewrite" and this was where the writer copied and pasted their version of my resume into the boxes for LinkedIn. You've got to be kidding me... Don't waste your money!
Answer: I am on month two and still have not received a finalized document. Currently, I've gone through 3 different writers and still do not have a usable document. My original resume, cover letter and LinkedIn are far better products than what I've received from TopResume. If you are thinking of using this service, please PASS. It has been a tremendous waste of my resources: time and money. Best of luck to you.
