Was a pro member of TT years ago in the ealry 2014. Rejoined the service and within 2 hours I was billed $24.00 for 1 lead. I deactivaded the lead situation in 3 categories and they billed me for category that I could not deactivate. The so called lead are nothing other than a person fishing and it's send out to multiple people. At 24.00 a piece I could imaging. My issue is I did not authorize lead for the 4th category. Attempt to reach them are futile. Had to delete my creidt cad from their account to ensure I dont get rip off anymore. They need to be class actioned sued.
I use to use Thumbtack when I first started my business. Generated a lot of leads for me at a REASONABLE price! Note the REASONABLE price part in that sentence!
Now they are charging upwards of $30 if someone even responds to a quote. You may not get the job, may not even hear from the people again, but still are charge an exorbitant amount. And the manner in which they do the billing and setup is shady.
Although I wasn't taking damage in the app, I was enjoying it. Until I went to the app and said that my account was deleted. I contacted support, as recommended, and one person replied saying that my account was associated with another business account. The answer is very shallow, they don't say the exact reason. Who could I be associated with if I don't know anyone here in this country. Now I'm the one who doesn't want to go back. You can even pay me, I don't want to
Thumbtack has become an oversaturation of fake/scamming businesses that change their name after thumbtack bans them and the cycle starts all over. Then Thumbtack charges me for duplicate leads of the same request. Thumbtack has become a money-hungry lead-generating company that does not value legit pros and allows anyone on the platform! Beware of anyone you hire from Thumbtack because thumbtack says that they background check them but it is most likely a lie! I can show 3 companies on hand that is not legit run by a person who is a scammer and yet their profile is still active on Thumbtack! I am done being a victim of thumbtacks poor management skills and money-hungry ways! As for the person who took my call, I had to deal with her baby crying in the background! Customer service speaks loudly of how the platform is managed!

My compliments to CHAILA who works for Americans chimney, gutters and roofing.
Very personable and knowledgeable. Very hard worker. Pays attention to detail. Made suggestions to replacement and the best way to stack my gas logs for best flow.
Thanks CHAILA. 2 thumbs up
I used Thumbtack a couple years ago and they kept charging me despite pausing the leads so I deleted the account.
I opened up a new business and decided to give it a shot again. Created a new account for the new business, paid a deposit to generate leads, and called it a day.
The next morning I went to login and my account was deactivated by thumbtack. I reached out to support and all they could tell me was that my account was deactivated for "violating terms of use." I read through the terms and found nothing that I could have violated in the 6 hours the account had been active. Now they are refusing to refund my money. Absolute scum. Stay far away.
We're sorry to hear this, that's a frustrating experience. While we don't have enough information from this review to locate your account, we want to look further into this for you. Please either send us a DM via social media, or email our team: support@thumbtack.com, so that we can help.
Mary Stimmel was excellent, not only did she do a great job on my resume, but she went the extra mile. My computer was acting up, I asked her if she would send my resume because I had a deadline and she did. I felt comfortable with her and she was patient kind trustworthy and always professional. I would recommend her in a heart beat, she's the best I ever had, and I have more work and wouldn't trust anyone else but Mary Stimmel. Believe me, you won't go anywhere once you experience working with Mary.
Mark Schultz did an amazing job at our wedding reception on July 29,2016 at the Bavarian! Every one kept asking who was the DJ? Mark worked with us from the very beginning and gave us a lot of good suggestions! We couldn't be happier with the job Matk did! Thank you Mark for making our reception a success!
I recently had water damage in my home due to my water heater. My repair consisted of drying the water and floor repair. I located the water damage restoration professional through Thumb Tack. I used Fast Action Restoration, owner Joe Donovan. He was very prompt in replying to my need and his work as well as his advice was exceptional. I recommend Fast Action Restoration. Betty Vaden
I have had to make several thumbtack accounts because mine have been deleted over and over. I work with a bigger commercial business and like this website to find subcontrators. They keep deleting my accounts over and over and over. Its not become a hassle and i will no longer use this site.
Gerik Whitt power washed my driveway, walkway, decks, etc this morning and I am very pleased at the job he was able to do. For example: at my request, he was able to clean the decking without stripping any of the finish off like the last guy did. In all, job well done and a pleasure to work with.

Thumbtack is a scam that overcharges "pros". DO NOT USE. They make it so hard for you to change your settings so you don't automatically get charged. There's no way to get that money back for when you do get charged.
You get charged for talking to customers that you most likely won't work with because they don't respond. Don't do it. Save your money.
We were scammed on thumbtack and went out and created a website www.thumbtack.reviews to allow people to post their complaints without them being deleted on facebook or other sites.
Come to www.thumbtack.reviews and post your own complaint without fear of having your account deleted or post removed.
Jeff Jissner is a plumber who came to replace my kitchen sink. Did a good job, however we had a minor leak. I called him and he came over and fixed it, promising to come back if needed. His attitude and professionalism was remarkable. His charges were minimal. I recommend him very highly. He is in Minneapolis, MN. Gohar Husain
I hired a person to remodel my bathroom through Thumbtack list. The contractor assured me he was qualitied to do the job. Once he started the job it became evident that he was not qualified to do the job. Thumbtack was extremely helpful in working to help correct the problem. My hats off to Thumbtack for their follow through and doing everything in their power to make the contractor be responsible.
Our experience with CBE general contractors was excellent. Rick came to our home to view the pre project, game us some added ideas and options which we used! His
Expertice and Pete's was exceptional. The remodel included tiling the master bedroom and bathroom total remodel. Everything went according to plan and was finished at the projected time. My husband broke his ankle before the job was completed so we had to add and few things like more grab bars--for handicapped. They installed them immediately. Even brought his scooter for my husband to use. I would not hesitate to rehire them for future projects nor would I hesitate to refer them to our friends. Our special THANK YOU to CBE for their courtesies and a job well done. I am very proud of our bathroom now and LOVE the shower!

They do not reinburse you when not hired. I disputed a transaction with my bank and they sent this term and condition: -"Profesionals pay thumbtack for leads to connect them with individuals who are shopping for their services. By accepting the terms of service at sign up, professionals agree to make payments for therlse leads (although they are not guaranteed to be hired after connecting with a particular individual) and that lead purchase are NON-REFUNDABLE."- This is unacceptable. They took money from me 2 times.
I found a good company to fix my fence and honest man to run this company. Mr. Villano fixed my fence while I was not able to be home and I said to him on the phone. Well what about giving you a check. He said. Don't worry about it, if you like the work send me a check.the price was decided on the phone the day before and it was a very good and honest quote. Needless to say the work was right and I mailed the check.
Signed up to get going in new area after a move - very reputable professional with 22 years experience in my area... NOTHING but clogged phone texts... NOT ONE customer after 7+ months --- this is a TOTAL rip off service. Facebook is much better
I was not satisfied with the service from dupree jackson computer repair
I paid to get rid of virus off my computer.and still had them on there and had to pay another tec to get rid of them and could not even get a refund for a job he did not even do.
Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. If anyone has specific concerns about certain requests you’re receiving, we’d be happy to review them and see how we can help. Feel free to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we have an amazing support team that is just waiting to talk to you.
Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
