I wanted to leave an honest review about a business they promote: "Divine Dynasty K9" in Temple TX, But I have to be invited by the business and of course they will not do that, since they did a bad job. So, all you see on Thumbtack are praises from people who are happy or know the business owner. Basically the reviews are useless. I fell for a company on their site: "Divine Dynasty K9" in Temple and was horrible disappointed and lost a lot of money.
Thank you "Events to Remember " in Navasota. What a wonderful experience it was to have you at my back. You have a wonderful family-run business and will get my business and that of my family and friends for years to come. Your willingness to be there for me and assist me with the many issues of the wedding was the best. You were so helpful and such good listeners.
I've been using it for a while and I can honestly say that it is a scam and as a pro takes our money without helping even when leads aren't legit. I swear some leads are fake and then they give you free quotes that either don't respond or they charge you later for it. And when you explain how you are already quoted for that lead they dot listen and give you advice that makes no sense like check you email inbox more. Another complaint is that my leads weren't showing up till they denied me but because they used a certain verbiage they charged even though I had no access to it. Their explanation is I have a phone number. Why would I contact someone who said they didn't want to work with me? Total scam don't use1
We used a business In Spring Lake MI called Pure Renewal for an interior painter. The people he referred us to did a horrible job. We contacted Pure Renewal in Spring Lake and he said he would take care of the problem, he hasn't and has not returned messages. My husband will have to spend more money and a lot of time trying to repair and finish the job and they have our money. Please stay away from Pure Renewal in Spring Lake, MI.
Robbie Turner of Turner solutions was very professional and very honest. He was on time. I would recommend to anyone who need Electrical work. He fixed two outside sensors, put fan in bathroom, fixed fan in front room, changed 5 plugs, and fixed light in dinning room. He and his assistant were awesome. Would hire them again.

Thumbtack get's paid either way you look at it! The"pro"walks away with NOTHING and thumbtack gets paid either way!
This is the EXACT same tactic used by another well-known scam company out of Colorado!
We experienced it firsthand!
My advice... run and run fast!(if you can) and if you believe you have been scammed by this "company", contact the BBB immediately!
I feel the leads were bogus, not realistic and the inquires were fake.
I liked the idea and concept of what thumbtack's approach was though I feel the leads were very random, duplicates of the same people asking for the same services that were not real.
My investment was $46 thank goodness it wasn't more.
We used Thumbtacks for years for our Dj business and it was great. We took some time off to focus on our other business, came back a year later and used thumbtacks again for our Dj service... coming back to thumbtacks we only received two leads asking us if we were available for their date. We only bid if we are available so this seemed rather odd to us. And Thumbtacks wants to charge us $40 for that! Their pricing has gotten ridiculous. I could understand if we were hired a fee like that but that is still pricey.
We were looking for a Pre-Algebra tutor andit is very hard to find a good one, We found Mrs. Louise Sizemore and it has been a great experience for my Daughter. She is very professional and flexible and has a lot of patience; My daughter really likes her and always says positive things about her tutorial class, she makes the lessons fun and the most important she found ways to explain difficult issues in a clear and simple way, We made a great choice. She is very talented as well and we will use her tutorial services again! We highly recommend her professional services. Edna R.
Mr. Zahid is very experienced guy i call him to renew my kitchen he did really good job and price was also perfect and i didn't replace whole kitchen he just make it like new one. He is good in work, i appreciate his professtional experience i will preffer him in future.
We hired a pro on Thumbtack for a roof repair, he came and we gave him money to start the job, he was doing horrible job, wasn't even doing it right, put tar where we didn't need it. Ending up needing a whole roof because of his negligence. The pro we hired wasn't licensed and he said he would give us our money back. This was in January. Went to Thumbtack to give him a review, he deleted his account and changed his phone number. Contacted Thumbtack, told them my complaint, they said they removed him already so a review wasn't needed and would forward my complaint to theTrusts and Safety team. I am still owed $1500. 00 and I don't even know his real name. I had to spend $12,900 for a new roof because of his negligence! I thought if I used Thumbtack I would have some kind of recourse, but I was wrong.
I'm writing to share my experience with www.thumbtack.com as a business owner. While they originally delivered qualified leads with good conversion rates, things have changed significantly in the past two years.
Currently, I receive one qualified lead per month versus four "doubtful" leads who don't engage (read messages, answer calls, etc.). Despite these low-quality leads, I'm charged between $28 and $98 each.
Thumbtack's policy towards professionals has become unfair. The "zero refund" policy for these unproductive leads makes it a gamble, and achieving high visibility requires allowing them to charge you hefty per-lead fees. If you refuse, you're buried with no leads.
As a small business, I spend $800 monthly on Thumbtack, but my conversion rate has plummeted from 80% to a mere 20% in two years. While I still receive a few good leads, it's a significant financial burden.
Given my membership-based service model, I can absorb this cost. However, I urge businesses without similarly resilient models to stay clear of Thumbtack. Their current practices could leave you financially strapped before you even turn a profit.
In short, unless your business allows you to weather these questionable leads and high costs, avoid Thumbtack.
A nice web site for vendors wanting business referrals on very fair terms.
Take a moment and check it out if you have a business you are trying to promote.
Vendor registration is free and there are no costs unless you are hired.

I needed to move about 12 medium to large cartons of clothing/personal items from the NYC area to SF area. Thumbtack gave only 1 referral, Reginald Tonge with Movers-For-A-Cause in Harrison NJ, who emailed asking for more info. After sending the info, I never heard from him again.
Thumbtack was unable to provide a mover of for 12 ordinary cartons.
I called North American Moving, and they referred me to ShipSmart, who is handling my move. Thumbtack has left a bad impression, don't know if I would ever (try to) use them again. For moving referrals, they clearly are not well connected.
It's funny how I only get leads AFTER I delete my credit card information from my account. I could have my credit card payment information on there for months and not one lead but as soon as I remove it all of a sudden I have leads. Makes no sense whatsoever.
Samuel Nunes did a great job repairing, restoring and creating the front stairs of my house that were originally made of cobblestone and brick when the house was built about 1914. Sam was able to repoint the cobblestone and replaced the bricks that had come loose and broken (brownstone style stairs). Samuel then created beautiful brick steps (entirely replacing the steps that had been there) that had multiple people stop by commenting on the beautiful job and how creatively it was done. I would highly recommend Samuel Nunes. The job was done in the time specified. Samuel was also able to recommend other professionals he works with for additional jobs on the property that need to be done, i. E., fence installation.
I had someone submit a FAKE request, with a fake phone number and had to pay for this lead! The number was fake, and the person was from another pro company and after they submitted the request they could then write a FAKE review and thumbtack clearly sees that the information they entered is all fake but yet they do not want to remove the request, review and will not refund me what i paid! They are thieves!
My husband and I had Firefighters For Hire finish off our basement, installing a full bathroom, a media room, an office, and a full kitchen, and they did an outstanding job. They also installed tile in our den, painted all of our interior walls on the main level and basement, installed a gorgeous backsplash in our kitchen on the main level, installed tile in our Master bedroom upstairs, and totally redid our entire master bathroom. They were professional, and made sure the job was done correctly. These folks do not take short cuts or do "Band-Aid" fixes, but if you want the job done correctly for a reasonable price, they are the best!
I would recommend Dan with my eyes closed, he's professional, courteous, friendly and tells u the truth. He's also very prompt and answer's all ur questions cause he has the experience. I wish I could give him 10 stars. THANKS DAN. GOD BLESS YOU.
Hope you never have a problem because their customer service department is essentially non existent. As a freelance business that provides a service, I enjoyed this company years back. These days they charge outrageous prices for leads and then when the customer mis-post services rjay they are looking for, Thumbtack will still take your money. They won't respond back to your issues BUT when you contact your credit card company to dispute a charge, they're real quick to say you're in the wrong and that they deserved the money… for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! No longer using them. Beware!

Answer: Thumbtack does not generate fake requests. When our professionals come to Thumbtack to meet new customers, we know how important it is to receive requests that can help them expand their clientele. We have a lot of customers that come to Thumbtack and hire professionals to help them complete their personal projects. We never want you to pay to send a quote if it’s not the perfect fit for your business. This is why you can view the details of each request before you send a quote and introduce yourself to the customer. James - I’m so sorry that the concerns you’ve brought to our attention haven’t been responded to in an appropriate amount of time, this is never our intention. It's important to us to obsess about answering our customers and professionals questions and concerns within a timely manner. We are a real company that can always be improving. You can read more about our company in reputable sources such as Forbes and the New York Times. If anyone has specific concerns about certain requests you’re receiving, we’d be happy to review them and see how we can help. Feel free to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we have an amazing support team that is just waiting to talk to you.
Answer: Hi Kay, I’d be happy to answer your questions. When we initially started Thumbtack in 2009, we tried multiple business models. This included a commission based model, but there were some concerns. When professionals didn’t pay for each quote they sent out, there was nothing to stop pros from quoting as much as possible, regardless of if they were the right fit for the job. Paying for each quote encourages better quality quotes and creates a much better experience for customers. Like you mentioned, it’s important for us to get customers to try our site and continue to hire professionals. In the end, pros are paying to promote and advertise themselves to customers that are already actively looking for that particular service. S. G has an amazing point, and Thumbtack is a great introduction site. There’s a lot of potential to expand your clientele, but sometimes it takes some tweaking to your profile and quotes to increase your response rate. The goal is to create a connection through your profile and quote message, and we’re here to help you do this. It’s kind of like sending the customer a virtual portfolio of your experience, achievements, and reviews. I do want to clarify that Thumbtack does not create fake requests, and it goes against everything we value as a company. While Thumbtack may not be the perfect fit for every business, we strongly believe that we can help connect businesses with new customers and foster growth. If you’d like to give us a call at (800) 343-1710, we’d love to give you more personalized help or answer any other concerns you may have.
Answer: We love to see that you’re interested in joining Thumbtack, Grace! Your party planning business sounds like it will be a blast. When it comes to having a license, it's up to each professional to determine what licenses are necessary and follow their local, state and federal laws. I recommend checking with your state to see if a business license is needed for your service. Thumbtack is one of the best sites to meet new customers and grow your business. Robert S. Gave a really good explanation of how we work. You can sign up and receive requests for free, and you only pay us when you send the customer a quote. Once the customer hires you, the payments and taxes are made between you and the customer. This is a great way to connect with the customer and build an extensive referral network. We wish you the best of luck with growing your business. Have an amazing day!
Answer: The reason you had a lull in leads we because thumbtack had a manual action penalty levied against them. If you are not sure what that is you should google search it. The letter you received from Thumbtack regarding this was (as usual) not fully truthful. The letter does not detail the slimy tactics thumbtack used ti enhance google rankings in organic search returns. Do yourself a favor and search this phrase "thumbtack manual action penalty"
Answer: With our recent changes, you're only charged when a customer responds to your quote with interest in working with you. If you have questions about a specific quote, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. Just send us a message on Facebook with your email address and the customer's name.
Answer: We want to make sure you get the most out of our site and see a return on the investment you've made with us. Please give us a call at (800) 948-2034 when you have time so we can go over your concerns with us.
