Purchased a Canon point and shoot camera from them in September 2019. The camera starting having issues within about 6 months. After 9 months, it was completely non-functional. I called Canon for warranty repair (it has a 1 year manufacturer warranty). The told me they would not touch it as Ted's is NOT an authorized Canon dealer. I might as well have bought it from a street vendor... Ted's advertises on their site that they provide a 1 year warranty on the products they sell. Nonsense! When I called them, the very rude and uninterested woman said "any camera that's more than 3 month is more than likely misuse so we won't fix it." Amazing how they default to misuse right out of the gate. She then said she would send me a link to return my camera to them so that they could assess it. The link never came, Imagine that... Bottom line, Ted's is worthless and you'd be better off going to the Canon website to see the list of AUTHORIZED sellers of their products, otherwise you're buying a product without a warranty... And any listed review that says they are amazing is only because they haven't had to test the worthless warranty Ted's advertises.
Nikon would not honor it's 1 yr. Warranty because I bought a camera from Ted's that was a "gray Market" camera. Was not even supposed to be sold in the U.S. because it didn't meet Nikon standards. Nikon ships these " Gray Market" cameras to South America? Nikon knew from the serial # on the camera that it was shipped to Mexico, and Ted bought them knowing they were junk. Nikon will do nothing to help me with a( broken lens) new camera I bought through Ted's. I am simply out the money. BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE, DON'T CRY ABOUT IT! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
I purchased a Canon Power Shot SX60 HS from Ted's Electronics. This outfit sells gray models (not covered under US warranty thru Canon). Within a year (under warranty) we got E60 communication errors. Sent the camera to Canon and they refused the repair because the unit was not intended for sale in the US, but said had it been an American model they could repair it. Called Ted's and they refused to fix it because an E60 error code was not covered by them or by Canon. Stay away from this retailer, you will not get what you paid for.
No response to battery charger not working. This was a gift to my daughter who is heart broken now. The camera is useless without battery charger dock!
Scam and false advertisement!
I think I have to remind somebody with my experience. The camera I bought from Ted's Electronics through Walmart was open-boxed even though I bought they stated the product "Brand New", and the warranty card and other instructions were taken out. So it's not a new' product as described. However, if you want to return the product, they will charge you $108.32 restocking fees. And they will not listen to your case and just rudely tell you that's the minimum restocking fees cannot be returned, they even try to scam me and said they can charge me 60% if they want. When I try to talk with the manager, they transferred me to a voicemail and never return the call. I never experienced such terrible customer service. I didn't know how can a seller dare to do such clearly rubbery and provide such rude terrible customer service. By the way, if you want to buy Cannon product from them, be aware that Teds is not a Cannon authorized dealer, I don't know where they got their rubbish and use it to scam customer's restocking fees.
Update: They try to settle the case with me with refund 50% of my restocking fee and want my appreciation and cooperation. What a joke! I don't know when and how they can be reasonable and issue me the full refund.
I requested a refund for a package I never recieved in JUNE. It is now almost SEPTEMBER. I have been back and forth with then in emails since then. I am an extremely patient person, but this is ridiculous!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
I bought a Canon T7i from Walmart/TED and didn't get it. USPS never delivered the camera and presented a false and incorrect signature as proof of delivery. I contacted Walmart / TED and the USPS, I registered what happened at the police station and the case has not been resolved until today. I DIDN´T RECEIVE THE PURCHASE
Follow-up and notifications regarding my order were topnotch! The item was exactly as described and the transaction was flawless. I will definitely buy from them again.
I purchased a Canon Powershot G7 Mark II through Rakuten's third party seller, Ted's Electronics over the Black Friday sales for a Christmas present. I received an order confirmation & also an e-mail indicating item was being shipped on 12/1/2019. On 12/10/19, I received an e-mail from Rakuten advising that their records showed no movement on my shipment, but they were following up. I continued to check on shipment, but there was still no movement on package. On 12/24/2019, camera had still not been received, but Ted's Electronics was maintaining that it had been delivered by USPS as verified by "his contact" at USPS. However, the company could not provide me with a delivery date or an alternate tracking number to verify this information. Given this purchased totaled almost $500.00, I am highly dissatisfied with the service I received as well as the customer service experience from both Ratuken, and its third party seller. I only gave one star as I was required to in order to leave a review. I do not recommend purchasing items through this company. I certainly will not purchase additional products through them. A dispute of the charges has been filed with my credit card company. Ted's Electronic's would not answer phone when I attempted to call them & only provided me with terse e-mail responses. I firmly believe they are a scam & a fraud. After investigating the company in the last couple of days, I advised Rakuten that I would not accept any camera from them.
This company is good on sales and fast on shipping, but beware their non-existent Customer Service.
I negotiated 3 times in writing, plus once by telephone, with Ted's Electronics for changes to a Nikon camera kit for items I wanted, and eliminated items I did not need. I paid the price they asked for. They shorted me on 2 small items, an extra cap keeper and an extra 32gb memory card. But the main problem is that I asked for an upgrade to the VR version of the 70-300 Nikon zoom lens, 3 times in writing and again by phone, and paid their price. But they only sent me the regular 70-300 lens.
Shipping costs to here are horrendous, so I didn't want to get involved with returns etc, and offered to keep the bad lens and sell it here, then purchase the correct VR lens from them, at their cost.
They then said that they have no VR lens in stock, so I suggested that they find one at a wholesaler,. After all they are in New York...
Their Customer Service Department (a complete misnomer) has now delayed me a month, so even if I wanted to, I cannot return it via eBay, even though that is again their only proposed solution.
I have again written to them today demanding that they at least send me the two small items that I ordered and paid for.
I assume that they actually charged me for a VR lens which is about $85 more than the basic lens, and the best they offered in compensation was an insulting $20 for this and the 2 shorted items.
I suggested that they close their Customer Service Department for they don't know the meaning.
Just a friendly reminder that a place like TED's Electronics is a total scam, buying from this place you might as well just piss on your money - avoid the trouble and don't do business with them
I ordered Canon PowerShot SX720 HS camera from Teds Electronics through Google Express on Dec. 12th 2018. Google Express explicitly says I have money back guarantee and trusting that issue I ordered the camera, despite never heard of this company before, because they offered the best price on the camera. Lo and behold, confirming my suspicion/typical mismanagement case - sent to another address addressed to "A PILLERIS" at Garden City, NY. I live in West Coast... Why has it been delivered to East Coast? Who knows... has the delivery (USPS) messed it up? Or did the delivery address altered on purpose to your cousin's address? Or was the camera never sent and did the company get full credit from VISA and screw Google Express? (yest I got full return from Google when I complained I never received the package) who know?
Ted's sent me a camera that was clearly someone else's previously opened and returned item, but it was represented as "NEW" on eBay. It has taken several emails and two bad reviews posted on my part to finally get a FULL refund for my returned item. So buyer beware still hold true. These people need to be better at how they represent their products. If they say NEW, it must adhere to eBay's definition of "New, unused, sealed in original box." But I AM upgrading my rating from 1 star to 2 because EVENTUALLY, after 2 refund requests, one direct, and one thru eBay, plus getting a refund minus return shipping costs, and writing 2 negative reviews here and elsewhere, the company DID return my full purchase price. So why only 2 stars? It has taken a lot of writing of emails, thru the eBay website, being told that it was indeed new (see photos below - it was not new), and then having to write bad reviews to finally get my shipping costs refunded. PLEASE NOTE that you must ask ahead of time if the camera is truly new, in its original SEALED box, and does it carry a USA warranty BEFORE YOU BUY.
I bought a lens, noticed the front glass was scratched. Returned it, which I paid $48 for, and only got a partial refund. Will never buy from again!
It's kind of funny... when I clicked on the 5 stars, the caption "You love it so much you want to tell the entire world!" popped up, which kinda made me laugh. While I wasn't thinking "the entire world", when I saw the response I got from TED's customer service, I did think, however, that I need to tell my friends about this and make sure I write a good review (which I often forget to do), because I was REALLY IMPRESSED! So here it is:
I am very happy with the Nikon camera bundle that I ordered from TED's Electronics and it arrived on time. It was 3 weeks later that I realized I was missing one item and, instead of receiving one telephoto lens and one wide angle lens, I received two of the telephoto lens'. I emailed the company and received a response the next business day. They apologized and said they were sending the missing item and the correct lens, and even gave me a tracking number. What a sense of relief! No time consuming back and forth to get a resolution like so many other companies tend to put you through. They also answered a question I had, telling me the purpose of an item I didn't recognize in the bundle.
To me, great customer service is the most important thing a company can have, and TED's has pretty much the best I've ever dealt with. I don't think I've ever had a company resolve an issue so quickly and without question... and I'm old enough to have dealt with a lot of different customer service departments over the years. Ted's has a new customer now.
Bought a Canon DSLR and it came in a different box for a different model, with the security seal broken. No manual with only a quick guide pamphlet in Spanish! Upon further inspection, the box is also in Spanish ONLY. The camera was also set to Spanish language. Was this camera made for the Mexican market as another buyer had mentioned? Probably. That's that, but the thing that got me more upset than normal is how they handled my email inquiries. TEDs uses either an auto reply service or someone is actually copy/pasting genetic replies to their emails.
Their robo-reply( 4 times, same reply with 4 different emails from me) stated that the reason for the security seal being broken is because of random spot checks at their warehouse. BULL$#*!! Why would they need to "spot check" their electronics if not for the reason that things aren't always on the up and up. They are definitely moving things around between boxes and handling cameras and accessories, this is when things get a little mixed up, lost and broken, thrown inside any box with obvious mishandling of equipment that someone has or will purchase. This is why if you see "electronics" in connection to NYC, stay away. They are NEVER honest and are mostly do business in unsavory ways.
They sold me a European model of a Canon Powershot -SX430 is - that doesn't match U.S. wifi frequencies and has no warranty in the U.S. The Canon rep said this camera should not be sold in the U.S.
The order arrived earlier then expected and was packaged very nicely with certified mail so it was not left at my door step for someone to steal.
Lisa was very helpful, pricing was great and fast delivery. How can you ask for more. I will be ordering again form them
