I have purchased several items through RealReal, on more than twice the size I received was not correct. RealReal did take the items back and provided a refund (and one of the items was a sale item. I ordered a pair of Chanel pants the size listed was L with 32 waist (US size) when I received the pants they were really a size 6 and most likely a 24 waist (US size). In both situations when I returned the articles of clothing I wrote a note on the packing slip indicating that the sizes should be checked because the sizes were not accurate. I saw both articles reappear on the website with the same inaccurate size. When I contacted customer service I was the person I spoke with was polite and provided an RMA strait away and I then asked how would I know if I was ordering the correct size, the CS stated "contact the REALREAL and ask the size to be validated". I did contact the REALREAL via e-mail and received a rather rude response regarding my request, letting me know that this was not service that was offered. My response is this to RealReal know that a size 16 US is not a size 26 or 28 waist in anyone's world. If it wasn't for the sizing issues I would give a five star rating. My recommendation is validate your sizes.

I have been using this site for luxury purchases for over a year and while I love the site their return policy and consignment process are unrealistic/ridiculous. I purchased a small ysl bag for $900.00 on the site and when it arrived it was smaller than I thought. I contacted the company and was told that it was final sale and all i could do is put it up for consignment sale. I literally just purchased the bag and within a few days of receiving it contacted them. Now I am being forced to sell it which I will only get 55% of the funds due to their commission process. Not only will I only get 55% I have to wait a month for the funds. The bag was good enough for you to sell it at 900.00 and a few days later i have to sell it back to to only get a commission a little over 450 and thats not taking into consideration any sales they have or markdowns on your item. I also sold 2 other pairs of jimmy shoes on their site previously which those shoes retail at 400-500 each and i received approximately 100.00 for one pair and 50.00 for the other and one pair was brand new... I am writing to warn you to pay attention to the refund policy and do not put your items up for consignment...

Chanel Crossbody Purchase
July 18, 2017
Previous review

I purchased a chanel crossbody purse. The bag retails at 2500 and was on therealreal.com for 1500. 00. The bag was shipped overnight without any issues. When I received the bag it was worn more than was visible in the pictures. I would have expected the bag to be no more than 1000. 00 on the high end based on its actual condition. As always it is non refundable. I would strongly suggest only buying items that you are able to return.

I have returned a ring by DHL, Real Real will not pay charges even though I have stated they can bill me or deduct the cost from my refund.
I would pay myself but am unable to as I do not live in the country to which the charges are due.
I am completely stuck and the Real Real offer no help at all, just say I have to organise it myself, I really have tried
Awfull experience

Consigned three expensive diamond rings. After 6 weeks with no contact, I called them. Was told they were "lost" at the NJ warehouse. I was told that they had a record of my items being received but they don't know what happened to them. Dah, someone who works there took them! As it was not my fault they were "lost" after being received by the RR and the items did not get consigned, I expected full price reimbursement. I received a pittance and I had all original receipts. Did not want to spend the $ to purse so accepted the payment which was thousands less than my items. They keep calling me to consign with them. What a joke! Dishonest, rude and unprofessional. I would not trust them.

Online Purchase
July 7, 2017

Wow it's amazing to hear such bad reviews about this company. I have ordered in the past and had no problems with their merchandise. The quality was as described. I have also returned purchases due to impulse shopping and had no problem. I'm hoping their service hasn't changed since I haven't made a purchase in 12 months

I've ordered 2 Luis Vuitton purses, and 2 pairs of shoes, one is Luis Vuitton shoes and the other is a Manolo Blahnik... And I have to say I was very satisfied with my purchases. Their items are legitimate. And Since my last 4 purchases I am hooked. I am always searching their website for more items.

I noticed that there are many bad reviews for TheRealReal and I don't know why. I have bought and sold through them and my experience has been exceptional. From an $830 Prada sweater I paid $70 for (new with tags) to getting great prices for the pieces I no longer wear, they exceed my expectations every time.

What a bunch of B. S. I ordered a tiffany & co bone cuff bracelet for my wife for our 5th anniversary. It first of all took 2 weeks to get here made it just in time. I open the box and the blue tiffany bag is so dirty it looks like it was used as a diaper. The letters on the bag are not even. The bracelet is hollow, stainless steel, dented and the engraving on the back is not even close to what is should be. It looks like a 12 year old in India made it. I do not suggest even clicking on the real real website. The also scammed 125 dollars out of me before I got the piece of crap. 25 gift certificate for becoming a new member and 100 for spending more than 500. I paid then got the email saying that the promotion was not valid for jewelry even though the site at the time of purchase said site wide. Scam artists. I ll keep you posted on their returns.

I bought a pair of chanel sunglasses not super cheap they were 130 but had i gone retail it would have been much much much more. When i got them they literally looked brand new,, so happy. I just got a gorgeous tanzanite ring if i had gone to jewelry store i would have spent over 1000 from the price point. I just got it so i am going to have appraised,, keep you all posted. But so far i am very pleased and their photos are spot on. If anyone is on the fence i hope i eased your mind maybe dont get a non returnable item. I have a LV bucket purse i may reach out to see if i can sell its just collecting dust in my closet. Maybe someone will love it and isnt that the whole idea of a consignment? I hope The real real continues to grow and improve. Cheers and happy treasure hunting folks

I was really nervous to order from TheRealReal as they have so many negative reviews about customer service and things being fakes etc. I haven't ordered anything over 500$ so I don't know if most people had issues with very expensive items, but I ordered an Hermés enamel bracelet and a pair of louboutins from them. I thought that the Hermés bracelet was in ok shape based on the photos with some fairly decent scratches and marks but when I received it in the mail it actually looked almost brand new. The louboutins I ordered were exactly like the photos were and so far I really like this website.

After my review went up, a rep from the real real contacted me and apologized for the issue and has fixed the problem, thank you

Date of experience: May 21, 2017

I consigned a Chanel bag with them, they ripped me off, sold it at one price and sent me a check for a price much lower than erases the entire bag sale off my account as if I wouldn't know the sale was ever made, I took pictures of everything so I had the proof when the bag was sold and for what price and commission rate, talked to customer support on the phone and they guaranteed I would get what I have proof off but when I email them to see why this issue hasn't been resolved yet the ignored me, 3 different reps I talked and they just ignored me but had no problem taking to me when they wanted me to consign more items.

I ordered a Burberry coat which came exactly 2 days later. Said condition was very good but I think it is in excellent condition. It is 100% authentic. I would def use them again

Only thing that sucked was having to pay taxes and duties separate through FedEx (I live in Canada). Still worth it for the quality I received!

I have been with RealReal for years and I bought quite a few things through that website. I do not know if somebody else is running things there but their prices went up and quality not necessarily. Discounts are not as beneficiary as before and they took away their annual 50% off monthly sale. You won't be able to apply discounts to some certain items and it is simply more expenive and I noticed.
I won't be shopping with them as much anymore. Appreciate your clients.

Bought a rare Vuitton bag with my credit card. Are at deal. The next morning I received an e-mail asking for Canadian Citizenship documentation AND a bank statement? To show I had made the purchase! I declined ( I would NEVERTHELESS send sensitive info like that across the Internet). I phoned the toll free number and asked why they needed any other info for this credit card info. They said they do it for first time customers with purchases over $1000! I declined and cancelled the order. No way ANYONE gets that sort of info! My online bank statement showed the purchase pendin. Next day the full purchase went through! I informed TD Visa of the situation. When I called the company again the representative was defensive and quite abrupt.
The money was refunded the next day, to their credit. Why on earth does The Real Real require sensitive info? Don't ever send it.
CANADIANS BEWARE.
When the purchase was refunded the total was $83 less than the original price! Apparently TD, and I am sure ALL Canadian banks do the same. When making a purchase the bank charges a " buy" rate and if you return a purchase or cancel an order that was being processed, the bank charges you a " sell" rate in converting currency! So you could be out big dollars depending on cost of said purchase! I am pretty sure most Canadians are unaware of this bank " practice".
Good news is I fought TD and got the difference ( in less than 24 hours) refunded.

A bunch of scam artists run this show! I purchased a dress advertised as being a Roberto Cavalli for $1680. Upon receipt I noticed it looked very familiar. Bam! I realized that my SIL owns this dress. We compared it and it was THE identical dress. It was NOT a Roberto Cavalli. Her dress was purchased brand new from an on-line dress store for $550! I immediately called the RealReal. Without argument they refunded my shipping cost and provided me with a shipping label to return the dress. The sales person indicated that she would bring this to the attention of the "authentication team". Guess what? They relisted the dress and they are fraudulently claiming once again that it's a Roberto Cavalli. It is most definitely NOT a Roberto Cavalli dress! Buyer be ware.

Hi Irina,

I wanted to follow up on our previous message. We have verified the authenticity of this item with our director of authenticity. This particular item was a sample. The interior construction is poor, possibly altered in house as sample tag has one size smaller size listed than original sizing. This is normal for sample items. This item has been deemed authentic.
Please let us know if you have any further concerns.

I have been shopping with the realreal since 2012. I had made a living and kept up my style in dressing. When my life when to zero. No one knew the cost of my clothes but assumed I bought for full value. I had a child that was slow in school and cost me $1200 a month to have a one and one with him teaching him everyday... I bought from the real real and sold my client and then became a personal shopper... yes did made a good profit.
And everyone was happy

Great experience
April 27, 2017

I have to say that I love therealreal. I have consigned with them, and had a quick turn around of fast payment, fair prices, and with great ease. As a buyer I love them even more because of therealreal I will never shop retail again. I used to buy Chanel retail and I am seeing the exact same authentic stuff with tags for way less the price. I have also bought a used Birkin that I had professionally authenticated, and it was real. I only hope that everyone else has the same great experience that I have had.

Purchased a black leather Burberry satchel and found it was piss poorly dyed with some sort of shoe polish or something. They missed a bunch of spots where the original color shows through along the seams, under buckles, etc. Apparently, the original color was silvery-gunmetal color, not black. I thought the whole point from buying from TheRealReal instead of eBay was that the item is professionally authenticated and inspected? They are requesting I close my Paypal dispute before they can issue me a refund for *just the shipping charge*. They want me to close my dispute before they will issue me a return shipping label and then will *decide to issue me my full refund* when they get the bag back. Super sketchy! The Paypal dispute is my insurance that they make this goof-up right so I am hesitant to close it. This is not right!

UPDATE: Paypal advised me to escalate the dispute and not close the dispute as TheRealReal rep advised.

UPDATE: TheRealReal offered me a full refund, $40 site credit and waived the return shipping fee if I drop the Paypal dispute, which I agreed to. They even arranged for package pick up which is awesome since closest FedEx drop off is 20-25 mins away. I asked if they would cover the cost of having the bag professionally dyed/restored ($50-100) instead of site credit and sending the bag back since there are no comparable bags on their site that matches the busted one I bought and they said no, which was totally fine but worth asking as I will likely never use the site credit I received. At the end of the day I got all my $ back including shipping so I'm happy, but it took A LOT of work to get it back. I would rate their customer service a 3-4 and their authenticity/quality inspection service a 0-1.
