Quite a few items have obviously incorrect descriptions, such as an item listed as "Jacket" but the picture shows a hat? Or items with size "Large" but the measurements mentioned do not look nowhere near a large size. Other garments I was interested in, but they did not have any measurements or any fabric info listed. I see more and more frequent glitches as I go through your website, which is unfortunate. I love the concept behind TheRealReal and I wish there you were more focused on the quality of your online shopping experience.
I do appreciate being able to view up close, at angles, and inside merchandise. That's how I shop in a physical store structure. I'm able to view any wear an item might have and determine, if any is it an issue for me. The variety of styles and size are another great feature.
I bought this Gucci wallet for my daughter. She's new into having luxury brand items and I feel more comfortable starting her out with something not retail price. The wallet was in perfection condition actually looked brand new to me and even still had the Gucci box. She was very happy as well.
I've shopped at the Real Real several times, and consign there as well. It's a great way to cycle through unwanted merchandise while also discovering something new for a fraction of its original price. Orders are always shipped quickly and returns are handled efficiently. Plus, the sustainability model is good for the planet!
The selection and prices are excellent as is the customer service. My only criticism is with returning items for a store credit. The last couple of times I have returned items for a credit, the credit expired two days after it was processed. The first time I contacted them and they fixed it right away. This has just happened again and I'm waiting to hear back. Store credits should be valid for at least 3 months. I would suggest a credit card refund instead but every time I have selected this option, it processes it as a store credit anyway. I've never worried because I'm always buying something else but this still isn't right,
Excellent, representative and terrific at what she does. Alex handled a problem for me and never dropped the ball as everyone else did. I had clothes sitting there and a Chanel dress got loss and it took many months to resolve and have them pay for it! Also working on increasing pricing after sitting 3 months.
My mother died and had many high end items. My sister and I called TRR and talked pretty extensively with someone who later stopped responding no matter how many times I tried to reach her. Finally I was put in touch with someone responsive and we ended up sending in 76 items over a year ago. Some did well and some didn't but the ANNOYING thing is that 4 or 5 items are listed as pending and no amount of calling or emailing has resolved this. If they are unsuitable, send them back! I can't get any answers. Would not deal with them again!
I have sold $3500 worth of items in the past but never again. RR held items for 2 months in authentication process. RR does not let you know in advance pricing and discounts. I had an estimate then item was priced 75% lower. I was supposed to get an email with pricing prior to selling according to their policy but I did not. Item then sold in 2 hours because it was priced so low. Don't use their services. Customer service is terrible, on hold forever and no return calls or emails.
I enjoy the website. I like to look, compare, consider and then purchase. I have run across only a couple of problems with items in the past but the returns were received without incident and my account was credited. The customer service department has always been informative and helpful. I love this website! I love it, but I don't mention it to anyone. Let them find it themselves! A little less competition is better for me! :)
I just wish it could be better. They sell authentic products but have horrible customer service. Often customer service takes days to respond and only responds to half of your inquiry. I have purchased many, many, things from TheRealReal over the years and I would (sadly) say about 20-30% of the time there is some sort of "problem". Items are very often mis-listed, I have received items that were sized wrong, branded wrong and in horrible condition. It's clear that the level of care is minimal - rarely is there an apology or even an admission that something was listed wrong (saying its made from leather when its not, saying its one size but the tag states another, I have even ordered items that were listed on the wrong brand, I ordered a pair of shoes ones that had the soles detached). I wish they could just pull it together because there is a tremendous market for luxury consignment.
Terrible customer service. They are super helpful before you send your items in, but once they have them it is almost impossible to get any customer service. I have spent at least 8 hours trying to get in touch with my contact, the real real phone number, text... you name it. I have even received drunk text messages from the original contact number I had in the middle of the night. So unprofessional. I deeply regret consigning my items with them.
The Real Real has some good variety in many clothing areas (accessories as well as clothing and shoes) however the sizing was nor for me. I wear a size 12-14 and was never able to find a single article of clothing that actually fit me in that range. I also found the condition (clearly marked on the site) often did not match the pricing e.g. fading throughout, snags or pulls, but it was still very expensive for a used garment. My daughter has had good success, but alas I did not.
Real real used to be a great company. The bigger they got the worse their service got. Honestly, I'm shocked at how horrible the service is. There are no reps available to assist unless you literally email every email account you have access too. The consignment department is horrible. They are careless I revived my shoes back damaged and claiming it was like that. They mark down you items just to sell and make money. Please save you time energy and money. I There are more websites out there just need to do research. I have had good experience with two girls, who honestly are trying to help me but doesn't matter their consignment department needs work. Maybe they are understaffed over worked, not sure what it is but they should be able to hire more professional staff to assist customers. At the end of the day, they are around because of people like you and I.
I've spoken to the person who help me list the items multiple times about how unhappy I was with the or in g and that I wanted to pull items I sent. She claims to have reached out to the team that handles pricing for two separated items but nothing has ever come of it. It's pretty disappointing to be honest and makes me leery about selling on this platform moving forward.
I changed my bank account details back in March 3/16/21 and my April commission has gone to a closed bank account. I tried to stop this when the heads up payment coming email alerted me to it would be going to wrong bank a/c. No-one could help. Seems silly, there was time to amend /stop this happening but no agent could help. Why did the bank change not get actioned last month?
They first quote u high price and then sell ur items so cheap with 20% commission! And they put sale on ur items as soon as its live! This is stealing money! I have been an old client to consign and now I don't like them anymore! Very angry!
Difficult to track returns because the accounting is confusing to understand on the website.
Please lower return shipping costs— many items are not as described (sizes are not always correct because most clothing items have had alterations by the original owner). Hence, most clothing that I purchase gets returned since the "size" is not as described.
My suggestion: raise prices on clothing in your retail stores (where people have the opportunity to try-on for fit before purchasing), and reduce shipping costs for those ordering online.
Hi Manisha, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that some of your orders have arrived not as described. Please reach out to our team via social media if there is anything more we can do to help.
In the last month the prices have gone up significantly. I don't know if the site thinks it's Gilt.com, but I refuse to pay close to full price for used clothing and shoes. Logging on and buying something used to be the highlight of my day; however, I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for a designer dress that is from 10 seasons ago. The 20% off doesn't even make a dent.
I really hope that this will be taken into consideration by the site.
Unable to get a straight answer (or an answer at all) for months at this point, despite having no issues communicating when associates are asking me to sell or sending me new arrivals to buy. I understand things go missing but ignoring customers (loyal ones, at that) is inexcusable.
Not worth the effort. It used to be a convenient service but now they charge you fees at every turn. They beg your for items then arbitrarily price your items (not fairly) and charge random fees - netting almost zero dollars for your items and time. Asking for my items back would yield a massive loss so I'm stuck with them until my last items sell. Use the other websites such as bag borrow steal.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: customerservice@therealreal.com.
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
