I purchased several items with this site, was just ok, you need to be super careful with their descriptions and pictures. Very often, they won't show the ugly and dirty parts of their products rather than just written "signs of wear". But this time, I'm done with them, the product I received was so disgusting and dirty that I cannot use after spending $400, and they refused to refund me because they claimed they indicated the problem, so I can only take their credit and pay shipping back myself, go figure...
I ordered a Burberry coat which came exactly 2 days later. Said condition was very good but I think it is in excellent condition. It is 100% authentic. I would def use them again
Only thing that sucked was having to pay taxes and duties separate through FedEx (I live in Canada). Still worth it for the quality I received!
The ratings are all over the board "very good" can be listed on stained items with missing buttons, "good" can list items that are new without tags? A "faint spot" is often a large permanent stain. Their sales reps are psychotic and aggressive. The style numbers for items are almost always incorrect making me question authenticity of items. How hard is a quick google search? Customer service can take WEEKS for a question… which is odd bc the sales reps literally call 90 times a day. It's just odd.
I'm tired of finding something I like, buy it, only to find out that the description was off by some - I don't know- major important detail like men's tennis shoes vs. women's. The sizes differ, right? Or a blouse/dress is not the size it's reported to be and it's not refundable. I will stick to certain bags and maybe jewelry.
Most of my purchases on TheRealReal are great, however there have been occasions when something I buy arrives in worse condition than how it is described on the website. It's a hassle to call and get someone to believe me when the item is a handbag since those are final sale items. The last two purses I bought said they're were in "very good" condition but one had a significant a musty/mildew smell to it and the other had significant wear to the fabric where the outer layer was threadbare in one area.
I have sent so many emails for so many unsettling reasons and occasionally I get a response from somebody that is going to talk to management. That is where it goes cold. Then somebody Named Alex responded to me a week and a half ago. Apologized said he was going to fix one issue and credit me $25 for my troubles. Well, problems not fixed and there is no site credit. I have emailed him three times. Nothing. No response. Still waiting. It's puzzling to me that you can function as a huge company in this manner. Absolutely baffled.
Wallet was fine. Lied about shipping gave wrong dates it was shipped wring ups tracking wrong usps teacking for same package. Amanda and chanel didn't seem to care. No compensation for my trouble getting a letter from the post office saying the tracking number was going to a different person. Said was mailed dec 13 on my e mail was not it was mailed ups on Dec 15 just thrown in a box with no wrapping at all. Never went through post office as customer service said. They tried to blame them. They should have refunded me the shipping or given me a apology or discount on the wallet. Noone cared giving 2 stars because the wallet was nice otherwise would give 0 stars
I like the selection, and the pricing is good. I wish returns were easier (less expensive). I placed an order with multiple items in it. Almost everything I bought was shipped separately. With clothes you need to try them on and not everything fits so returns are a given. I have several items that need to go back, but paying $11.95 each piece to send back is way too much, so now I need to wait until I receive the FULL order (pieces are trickling in one by one) so it can all go back together. Just a complete hassle.
Check shipping prices before buying! An item selling for $172 costs $900 to ship?
What kind of insanity is that? As a seller, be prepared to lose a ton of money to the point of garage sales being more lucrative for you. So sad that they have gone so far downhill in service, shipping times, shipping costs, item descriptions, measurement mistakes and wear and tear on their items!
Hello Customer,
Thank you for reaching out, and we really appreciate you bringing this to our attention, I would love to have the chance to look into your concerns to see what happened with your items selling.
Please send us over a message so that we can go ahead and look into this for you.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
I am very satisfied, with the Items that I chose. Both seam to be brand new. One dress had a tiny malfunction with the zipper, the seam was ripped further open than it was supposed to. Other than that, amazing quality and variety of fashion to choose from. The option where you can only view your own size, makes shopping so much easier and fun. Just love it.
After purchasing several items, shoes, pants, a purse but mostly clothes, the second purse I choose didn't match 100% the image on the manikin. After notifying customer services and communicating via emails during five days and after I send a dozen pictures of the poor condition that bag was in they replied two days after complete silence, said they changed customer service representative and oh yes! The purse has scoffs " so therefore no refund.
That beat up purse didn't match the description, the image & size on manikin nor was it worth the money I paid for it. I think
I'll just stick to buying local vintage shops and the designer of choice online store.
After purchasing a bag from them I looked at reviews and began to panic. I panicked for nothing. My bag is in perfect condition. I did buy a Chanel and it said it was in good condition in which I agreed but there was a stain by the handle easily hidden but would have been nice if it were pictured. Doesn't bother me at all though. I doubt they sell fakes. Honestly. Why would they rush their reputation on a fake? Silly
I've shopped The Real Real many times and am never disappointed. I really like how easy the site is to browse, filter, and favourite items. I especially love that measurements are included, since the fit can be tough to gauge, depending on the brand. The quality of the items is also always accurate and every item I received is in great condition and as pictured. I wish the UPS experience was a little more seamless (I live in Canada) but other than that, I can't complain!
Received items which were purchased under the believe to be in "Excellent" condition with "no visible signs of wear" and it was quite the opposite. My latest and last order with this store are a pair of trousers which were in "Excellent" condition and arrived with a huge hole in the fabric. That this misses someone's quality control and gets the "Excellent" condition to it is an utter riddle to me. Very unhappy with this store. I don't recommend at all.
My experience selling and buying from TheRealReal has been pretty awful. They sold me things that were not as described/ damaged, and when I trusted them to sell my items they lost them for months! Never would do business with them again.
I recently reported a price discrepancy that caused me to lose $1500. I am extremely upset not only to be out of so much money, but to have customer service suggest they would look into it and then not contact me again.
Be really careful when selling with this company! They lost my origin dust bag, I ask them to send it back. They never did. And they put my another item on sale without even letting me know! Would never use it again!
Hi Stephanie, thank you for sharing this with us and we're so sorry our team was unable to locate your original dust bag. Please reach out to our team on social media if you still need assistance with your listed items.
I've sent items into the real real twice. The first time I sent in clothes and jewelry and a diamond ring went missing. After ours an hours of working this out, the company blamed it on me and did not take responsibility after the fact their own representative came to my house and collected it herself. Then after, the company tried to tell me that diamond ring was not real and try to pay me a fraction of the price of it's worth. After going through bank statements and proving to them the worth of the ring, they proceeded to tell me they will pay me 40% of what it is worth. Hours more, we finally settled on 80%. This was after about three weeks and 20 hours of arguing. The second time around (and the last) I sent an earrings which on their account did arrive however upon them sending it back to me it never came in any shipment. Here we go again. BEWARE!
This site is organized very well but sometimes description of items are not clear and they are using same model with setting jewelry pieces on its photo, so in reality those pieces looks totally different.
Lots of times high end pieces are sold without any papers or boxes and it does not described on a site. They need to work more on product description.
Also, since product is coming from all different places, some come very fast and some are not coming for almost 2 weeks.
I was disappointed at things that were passed on, fine, and i understand that everything is stuck in the warehouse during this, but i don't appreciate being bombarded with emails asking me to consign. I know how to contact you; it's pushy.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
