Bought $2,500 worth of IKEA furniture for a corporate apartment with the understanding TaskRabbit would be available to assemble. IKEA Delivered on Tuesday morning, no problems. Taskrabbit scheduled for 8:00am Wednesday morning. Received alert at 9:07am that no taskers could be found, could we reschedule for Thursday morning? We confirmed that would work and they replied "Thanks, TaskRabbit updated the task time From May 29 8:00am to May 30 10:00am". Sent a message at 8:32am to ask what the names of the taskers were. Did not receive a response until 10:17 letting us know that once again, no taskers could be found. WORST COMMUNICATION and WORST SERVICE EVER! Now have a two-bedroom apartment of boxes that need to be assembled. Should have went with Cort Furniture as originally planned.
Hired a tasker who completely botched the job he was hired to do - supposedly had experience (and was in the construction and carpentry section with decent reviews) but he did a terrible job with click-lock flooring (which should have been simple to install - no glue, underlayment already attached, etc.). Gaps, areas that weren't covered that should have been (and couldn't be filled later, given the nature of the click lock and the bad flush cuts he made), areas that were not square, chipped materials rendered unusable. Cost me a ton of time and money for the materials he wasted, because I had to pull it all up and start over. Jerk argued that it couldn't have been done any better. Ridiculous, because it was done better by US just a few hours later. And TaskRabbit customer service is NONEXISTENT. They are very, very not helpful. I put a freeze on my card to avoid getting charged - I definitely got an e-mail about THAT from them, but nothing to resolve the huge issues I had with the work. BAD EXPERIENCE.
This company has a "Happiness Pledge" to provide reimbursement for claims when their Taskers cause damage. However, they make it impossible to meet the criteria and then become unresponsive. A Tasker came to my house to fix a leak on the back of the tub. The seal just needed to be reinforced. I mentioned the shower pressure decreased a couple of months ago, so he agrred to look into that. In the course of trying to fix my water pressure, he damaged the bathtub faucet, dislodged the bath drain plumbing in the crawl space by over-torquing the pipe, caused flooding in my crawl space and basement, and then when he attempted to fix the pipe, he dislodged a HVAC duct. From all this damage, I submitted a claim for reimbursing the $345 to fix the HVAC duct, with the receipt and before and after photos. They denied my claim because the "receipt was not itemized". The company would not provide a different receipt. So not only did I pay the unqualified Tasker for the damage he caused, I also did not receive reimbursement, as Task Rabbit Support pledged they would. They continually sent the Happiness Pledge mission statement, but didn't intend to pay me a cent.
As a tasker, who was 'employed' for a month, my experience was pretty neutral. I did a few tasks and they were fine. However, the company builds up this image of it being a new and exciting way to connect people and the mantra of 'neighbour help neighbour' idea is a load of rubbish. The company take a cut of 30% on your 'first task' with a client. Then say its only 15% for that same client on repeat tasks. However, most people using this service don't have multiple tasks needing done repeatedly. They use it, unfortunately, to find someone cheap and quick to do their task, even if that is building shelves, cleaning the house or knocking down walls and building a new window. The expectations are so high most of the time, and too many people use it to find handymen and builders (as that is what task rabbit is used most for) to pay them the very minimum. My partner is an elite tasker, which happens after you do a lot of tasks over the course of a month for example. He has made task rabbit a LOT of money. Thousands of pounds. He works full time and averages about 3 or 4 tasks a day. Every new client he books in doesn't realise they are paying 30% more to the company. My partner has not been paid about £5,000 for all his work over three months. He has attempted to contact task rabbit and is met with automated voice calls and emails sent to him three days later. He has time and time again tried to make contact with this business and their attitude seems to be that his lack of pay is 'not an emergency'. Do not use task rabbit. Instead it is better to find someone privately and pay the money directly to them. That way you know the money isn't going to a company, much like Uber, who pay the CEO's and managers big money and screw the people doing the hard work. AVOID.
Supposedly 5* Brian C of Philadelphia cancelled at the last minute, after we had already re-confirmed a late afternoon appt. We needed a special shower attachment installed for my girlfriend when she left the hospital so I booked the highest rated person I could find. Brian C accepted, asked my to reconfirm the day before which I did.
Today when I was in a business meeting, he emailed me to say an earlier appt was over and he was available at 1pm. I was not home and not available for phone calls. I contacted him after I left the meeting and he told me he could not come anymore even though our appt was for 430 in the afternoon. I told him I wasn't home so it would not have worked out anyway and there was no need for him to cancel just because some other job was finished earlier, and he canceled my Task and blocked me for absolutely no reason. AVOID BRIAN C AT ALL COSTS! COMPLETE NO SHOW!
Person sent to clean my apartment did a poor job. Company added hidden 15% charge to invoice. Avoid.
I booked a tasker to assemble my flat pack yesterday. After 3.5 hours I was told that the cupboard was damaged and that he wouldn't be able to complete the task. My walls were damaged in two spots in the process. We both had to call a U.S. number who said they would be in touch and call us back. They didn't. I spent money on 4 calls to the U.S. Each time I had to explain the situation over again.
In the evening I exchanged 5 emails with a rep at Taskrabbit UK, who kept asking me for the same information, information that was documented on my chat with the tasker and including pictures. They kept sending me the same email over and over again, hardly changing it and told me that they weren't responsible for paying me back for the damage.
That's I would need to be insured. Why the help would I need to be insured for a flatpack? I communicated that to the rep who still hasn't been in touch. I've sent 4 follow up emails. My cupboards were worth 3250 but that was apparently too much money for them to reimburse me for. I tried the emergency number this morning but the only options available are to leave a voicemail or send emails. Neither of which have got me anywhere. The service I've received has been nothing short of disgusting. Even after the tasker officially took responsibility of everything, they still won't respond and reimburse/ resolve the situation.
Hidden fees, complete scam and ripoff. Look at invoice below. Tacked on extra fees. Keep away. Buyer beware
Great job! Kendall P. And his assistant were frienldy, thorough and considerate of my home. I would definitely use him again.
It's been 4 months an still can't get help. This service is a joke. Each tasker is full of it the site is trash
Please be careful before deciding to hire a TaskRabbit! They charge a 35% fee on all services that goes directly to the company, not the Tasker.
The worst taskers ever, they don't show up, taskers can decline a job last minute, this is what happened with me in Montreal. Never trust them.
We hired a plumber to fix a minor issue in our bathroom. Did all our due diligence by hiring someone with positive reviews and who was licensed.
We came home to find that this plumber had left the shower running ALL DAY LONG, causing massive flooding and thousands of dollars of damages in our home completely ruining our downstairs living room ceiling. We of course contacted Task Rabbit who claims to have insurance against these types of issues that were caused by their Taskers. After over a MONTH of waiting and emails, they claimed that it "does not qualify" under their insurance policy.
Let me make this very clear - Task Rabbit's "guarantee" or "insurance" is completely fraudulent. They WILL NOT protect you in the event that someone destroys your property. How on earth does hiring a LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ON TASK RABBIT, to do a simply bathroom plumbing job, who then proceeds to be insanely incompetent and cause THOUSANDS in damage to your home not qualify under their insurance? So what is covered, Task Rabbit?
Avoid this service at all costs. Their customer service reps may talk like they empathize, but the actual people in charge of making sure your home is kept safe and people are held accountable for damages simply don't give a flying f*!@.
Insanely disappointing.
Used taskrabbit to hire an electrician to install lights at existing electrical points (switching what was there); the guy who showed up hung around for nearly 8 hours (across two days- he insisted we needed a follow up for him to get the work done), but could not understand how to even do the basic lighting install. He even made us pay for additional purchases he claimed were needed but never used. He finally left without doing the work after the 5 hours of nothing on day 2, tried to convince us he needed to come back a third time, and he and taskrabbit charged us almost 700$ to be left with holes in our ceiling with wires poking out. He also messed up the wiring of existing switches unconnected to the task requested. When I report all this to taskrabbit, after much back and forth and providing photos and estimates from new companies on short notice, they said: 1) They do not check if people are licensed to do what they say they do on the platform, so taskers can pretend to be trained/licensed and scam users, 2) the company has no responsibility if their tasker does not do the work- no refunds despite evidence of work not done, even after providing the quote taskrabbit requested from a third party company to attest to the electrical issues. They will only cover "damages", but are very happy to charge you hundreds of dollars for work that was never done in the first place. By the way, taskrabbit charged nearly 200$ as fees that were to include verification and checks, even though they don't check licenses and allow misrepresentation on their platform, helping perpetrate scams on their users but take zero responsibility. They trot out the "independent contractor" bit, so imagine if you were using a rideshare service like Uber/Lyft etc, but the ride share company happily puts "drivers" on there without checking if have a license to actually drive, and if you end up in a crash tell you that's not their problem. Do yourself a favor- delete the app and call a licensed company!
We purchased Ikea merchandise and had 2 different taskers, both cancel on the same days of service. Not a reliable service.
I hired a guy to replace the existing door sweep on bottom of the front door. He said the threshold needed to be lowered. After 5 hours of work, I went to inspect and there was a half inch gap on each side of the threshold AND now my $700 screen door is messed up. The screen door has a pull down window with a screen in it, now it won't stay up. He apparently removed it to put the threshold on and didn't ask me for permission then first. When I asked him why the screen wasn't working he said he didn't know and left. He also broke my hose reel, messed up the configuration of the drip system timer and stole the leader hose for the new hose reel before he left. He seemed to be oblivious to the things he broke and couldn't have cared less.

I hired another guy for various tasks. I'll just cut to the chase. He put together a pool cover reel but didn't lock it in so when I went to use it, it fell in the pool. He put together some bedroom furniture and I had him switch out the bed mattress and topper to get the new one set up. He ripped the brand new topper right down the middle about a 4' tear and didn't tell me. He left it for me to find. I got a new phone and needed help putting the screen protetor on. I asked him if he knew how to do it. He said yes. When he was done there was a small bubble on the right side. It has since cracked right where that bubble was. When I asked him why it was like that he said he didn't know and that his was the same way. Oy vey, that might be a clue that he didn't know how to do it at all!
After years of debating, I finally decided to try task rabbit. We moved into a new house. The old owners left furniture but we wanted to swap the upstairs and downstairs couch sets. I wanted it done before our stuff arrived so I hired 2 taskers for the job. It went terribly, as you can see from a few of the photos, they tore our walls and stairs up, and actually didn't even complete the job. They spent over 3 hours which ended up costing me almost $400… not including the $1000 it cost me to bring in a contractor to repair and repaint everything.
They could have just said no, but they claimed they could do it- (btw when the professional movers came the next day it took them 15 minutes to do it with no damage at all). I was sick over what they had done to our new home.
So I filed a claim with task rabbit- Their "happiness pledge" is a joke. I spent over 3 weeks going back and forth jumping through hoops (I. E. your contractor needs to provide their assessment on professional letterhead with phone, now it needs to have their email, now it also needs their address, logo, etc- how many local contractors do you know that even have professional letter head? Most just write up an invoice, luckily mine was nice enough and felt so bad for how damaged my walls were she took the time to do it)
Once they were finally satisfied with the info I provided they offered me $200 back on the job and a $150 credit that I will NEVER use.
I wasn't asking for an insane amount of money back, I didn't even ask for the $1000 it cost for all the repairs (it was on me to fix it, using task rabbit was my mistake!) but I asked for the $400 back that I paid them for the work… they refused.
Don't use task rabbit! I warn you now, spend the extra money to hire a professional… or go with another task site that isn't so corporate they refuse to consider the actual people they are servicing.
I am really so disappointed, I wanted it to work, with a new house we have so many little things that need to be done, furniture to be built, etc. They had an opportunity to build a strong client and instead decided that $200 in a settlement wasn't worth it.
Ikea Buyers BEWARE - DO NOT under any circumstances use Task Rabbit to assemble your furniture! Ikea passes these people of to be licensed contractors who can assemble your Ikea furniture for cheaper than their delivery company XPO. DONT FALL FOR IT! Pay the extra money and use XPO at least if they do something wrong you can get help and get it fixed by Ikea. Once you book with Task Rabbit, Ikea is no longer involved so if you have any problems with the services you receive you are out of luck. Task Rabbit raised the flat rate price Ikea quoted me from $323 TO $568 and told me that Ikea made a mistake on their end quoting the price. The Task Rabbit installers came out to my house and installed my $3000 Pax Ikea Closet Wardrobes incorrectly. I tried several times to contact Task Rabbit to explain what happened only to receive several auto response emails telling me to review their Happiness Pledge and fill out a resolution form and in 10 -14 days someone would content me. I tried reaching out to the installers who did the installation and was told I have to go back through taskrabbit. Needless to say 1 week has gone by and the closet is unusable and I have heard nothing from Task Rabbit thus far. They will TAKE your money even if the service were done incorrectly. Do your self a favor and hire a licensed contractor or an experienced handyman on your own and STAY AWAY from Task Rabbit! You Will Regret It!
I am disabled so when I first discovered TR, I was thrilled. I booked them several times to pick up groceries or run small errands. I have a smoker in my home so often I'll have them pick up cigarettes for them. Today I scheduled a tasker to pick up some grocieries and threw a pack of cigarettes on the list. As I had been advised by their customer service department in the past, I told the tasker he could check with customer service to verify my identity and age as they notated my account, The tasker said it was no problem, he would be leaving shortly to go get my groceries. We had a few chats in between and about the time I was expecting him to show up, TR sent me a message they I had cancelled. WTF? I called and was told that they couldn't deliver cigarettes so they cancelled the whole task. No phone call, just an email, after they cancelled, with a lame explaination. I had already waited an hour and a half and now they wanted me to reschedule to reorder the groceries and wait another hour or so. For $40 an hour, you'd think that would buy the client the courtesy of a little common sense and a quick phone call to at least give the option of fulfilling the rest of the task. Their timiliness, customer service and always increasing and very high hourly rates have finally become too much. As a customer who used to love the service, I can say they have deteriorated to the point I will no longer be using them. I am researching alternative services in San Jose, Ca, but I may just have to do without the extra little help.
Answer: Mine responded and loved to chat. At the end, he cancelled the appointment. What a waste of time. Very disappointing.
Answer: Hi Carlos, thanks for your inquiry! When registering, a form of payment as well as bank info is required. The form of payment covers the cost of registration and the bank info is linked to your account so that you can receive payment from your Client once you begin tasking.
