They put it in very small print. I would advice people not use them. It ends up costing you way more than actually using a real service.

Modern Slavery

Taskers have no personal/job security and company is rubbing some money in smart ways from taskers' pocketd6

As a measure to protect my safety, I do not take tasks from people who request my services if they do not have a profile picture. It is scary to be expected to accept these tasks without even knowing the bare minimum of what they look like. It seems as if they are purposely hiding their face to get away with something bad. When I accepted a task without a profile picture the client openned the door completely naked and asked if I could clean for him while naked and then blow him. I of course rejected and went home. I was so shooken up I told myself I wouldn't take another task without a profile picture ag as in. Unfortunately, many people request my services without bothering to post a profile pictures and I frequently get requests for services with no explanation of what they need done. For instance, if someone hires me for cleaning and the only thing typed under what to do is "Airbnb". I'm left wondering if they need the bathroom + living room cleaned, or living room + take out the trash with no bathroom cleaning necessary, or etc. I have reached out to TaskRabbit about enacting background checks for those that request Tasker services but have gotten no reply. It's been a month since my original email notifying them of the dangers Taskers face. They don't care. My account is not accepting requests anymore.

Plumbing from Hell

I hired a tasker with positive reviews in plumbing. There were 3 tasks to be completed:
Replace a toilet
Replace a bathroom sink faucet
Fix a very small leak under the faucet.4
After 4 hours and $300.00 we were left with a non fonctioning new installed toilet, an incorrectly installed faucet and no pipes underneath the faucet. The person wanted to come back to finish the task the next day.
When I toold him i expected the job to be completed in no more than 2 additional hours he did not come to complete the task.

In addition to his gross incompetence (mounting the toilet tank with the flush handle facing the wall, waiting to have cut the toilet bolts before realizin the toilet was not sittign properly), he came without the proper equipment.

Even though TaskRabbit charges a Trust and Support fee, their support is useless as it only applies when you hire a licensed plumber, electrician... from their sites. But their sites has no licensed tasker.

Use at your own rish (and you will regret it).

Two issues:

1. The arrival of the tasker was booked and confirmed for Saturday Oct 7th at 9.00AM. At about 11.00 having not received any information I tried to contact the tasker multiple times without any success. After a long time I was told he would be able to come at 2.00pm. Past that time again no arrival and no news till after 3.00PM to let me know he would be able to come at about 4.00PM.

2. The tasker mounted the drawer and just when the work was completed he told us that the unit was damaged. Then he left. At that point I called Ikea for a replacement and sent them a photo of the damage. They told me they could only do the swap if the unit was dis-mounted. Why did the tasker mount the drawer if he saw it was damaged? Clearly he should have not but for taking the money of the service. That's dishonest behaviour.

Now I found myself with a damaged unit already mounted, Ikea asking me to dismount it and I have also already been debited for the tasker's service.

Needless to say how poor the overall experience has been...

IF YOU USE TASKRABBIT, or are thinking of using the service:

1. READ THE TASKRABBIT "HAPPINESS PLEDGE" WORD FOR WORD before you do - don't forget to read between the lines, too.
2. Discard any expectation that if something goes wrong associated with the task you've hired for, your claim will be taken seriously or that any reasonable compensation will be offered to right the wrong.
3. Explore their online ratings and read about people's experiences with the service - many of them mirror mine.
4. Vet your tasker to the best of your ability, and read their profile and ratings very carefully.
5. Closely supervise your tasker while they're on the job - they might be the ones doing the work, but YOU are the one who will be held financially responsible for any damage they do. In my case, a job that should have cost me $150 all-in instead cost me $1,500 in repairs and three weeks of my time - and the tasker didn't even complete the original job I hired them for (rather, left me with the original problem + added some on top for good measure). Despite submitting all the required supporting documentation to evidence my claim, Taskrabbit's first and final compensatory offer was $100 reimbursement and $228.79 (the amount I paid for the task + their "happiness pledge" fee you pay to receive no happiness) credit toward future financial bloodlettings on their app.

I hired a TaskRabbit (TR) tasker in San Diego for 4+ hours of task. The only payment information given by TR website at the time of booking was tasker's hourly rate. After the task was completed, the tasker charged for 5hours of work, about $250. However, my credit card was charged by TR for about $270, with a previously undisclosed "TRUST" fees tacked on to the bill. And, just so you know, this extra "TRUST" fees is on top of the 15% cut TaskRabbit takes from the Tasker hourly rates (in this case the tasker would have received only abou $200) from TR!).

Even though TaskRabbit lists a phone number on their website under contacts tab, the answering machine just informs to mail or email the concern. I did email them to ask for a refund of the "TRUST" fees, but there hasn't been any response in last week.

The facts that the TR provides no direct way to customers to approach them with concerns, or file grievances, does not respond to emailed complaints all point to TaskRabbit wanting to operate in a shady/deceptive way and, hide their ratings/reviews from reaching potential customers.

I scheduled a Tasker named Kristina. At the time she was scheduled, she texted me and asked to come an hour and a half later. I said fine. At the appointed time, a young man showed up and told me that Kristina sent him. Reluctantly I let him in. Within 20 minutes it was beyond clear that this kid could clean like everyone else's kid. Not at all, possibly making things worse. I told him originally that I was not happy that Kristina sent him in her place and that was not legit. After he told me he was going to put "upholstery cleaner" on my expensive Dania sectional, I told him to leave. Every spot where he "cleaned" was still dirty. He pushed dirt around and left debris and slime in all my corners. I texted Task Rabbit, no help. I texted the original Tasker, Kristine, who offered to just cancel the service but I told her I wanted her to be accountable for what she'd done, so she said she was on her way. She never showed, and now she is claiming she did come, and had the nerve to charge me for two hours of service, claimed she was in my house and cleaned it, and said I was lying. I have security video that proves otherwise. I live in Portland Oregon, home of the criminal transients, and I was just scammed by them via Task Rabbit. I need this person's information, since they have mine, and no help or response from TaskRabbit. I am pursuing this legally. Be extremely careful, TaskRabbit does not vet their Taskers. You are trusting this company with your safety and security. I just learned a very, very, scary lesson.

On May 31,2018 I hired a Tasker to move a buffet to my home.
Prior to the pickup he requested information about the piece regarding size, wood species, etc. I gave him this information and told him that it was not only large but heavy.
He showed up totally unprepared to move the buffet and we had to tell him to leave without it. I immediately received an email stating that since I did not cancel 24 hours in advance that my card would be charged.
I tried calling but their phone is permanently overwelmed with calls according to the voice message and you are directed to their web site.
I sent numerous emails to them with no response to this day. I even had the bank investigate and the response from the bank was that I had approved the transaction therefore I was responsible for the charge.
Today I tried to sent them a message through their web site and it was thrown off 3 times after 3 rewrites and attempts to send it.
I have no other recourse and was wrongfully charged for a service that could not be performed. I will never recommend this company and will do everything I can to stop other people from being ripped off by them.
DO NOT USE THEM. NO RECOURSE IF YOU ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS. Jill W

On Friday June 23rd,2023, my Taskrabbit assembly appointment was scheduled and the tasker has came to my home to do his job. The tasker-Sergei did not secure the shelves to the wall, and after he left for 2 hours, the shelves collapsed catastrophically, almost crushing people to death. When I reported this accident to Taskrabbit, they repeatedly made things difficult, saying they could not open my attached evidence photos and files of this accident though they are all standard pdf files. I totally sent them 3 times of all the evidences. They took more than a week(over 5 business days) to reply my reported case. It shocked me that their staff Lily who was assigned to deal with my case said Taskrabbit has no responsibility on this accident at all because I didn't say I want the shelves to be secured on the wall. She said Taskrabbit would only refund me the assembly fee plus giving a $100 Taskrabbit credit but not liable for any damage. After that, she refused to communicate with me, and all my emails to her were bounced back saying that email address I sent was invalid.
Finally, I called Taskrabbit's customer service and asked their staff to help me follow up on this case#*******. Eventually, the same staff Lily sent me email again but went back on her promises in her previous email. She made an excuse that I've past the deadline to reply (She sent the email on Friday 7/14, said the deadline was on Monday 7/17, only 3 days and were all in the weekend, 0 business day), so they decided to not fulfilled the refund and giving store credit just because I haven't replied in time, and they decided to close this case directly. She told me to go to my insurance company to make a claim. I can't believe that Taskrabbit is treating customers like a scam company-completely irresponsible for the disastrous consequences of their work.

DO NOT USE TASK RABBIT.
I hired a handyman to hang artwork around my apartment. The artwork was all very light and needed minimal mounting, but I hired an "elite tasker" to ensure they were centered and straight. The tasker I hired was not using a stud finder. He was also using an electric drill, which was extremely unnecessary, and ended up drilling right into my building's gas pipe, causing gas to spew into my apartment. We are SO incredibly lucky that this did not cause an explosion from the pressure!

This issue happened back in August and I am still in the process of reconciling it with Task Rabbit Support. I have never in my life seen such a poor business model with absolutely awful customer service. The only way you can reach someone is via their general "help" email system, where it takes 3-4 days for someone to hopefully reply. I am going on 4 months of trying to resolve the damages that were caused the payments that are due from the damages. Task Rabbit has been inconsistent with their responses and are refusing to refund for the damages caused by the tasker.

AND - this guy is still employed by TR and is still being hired. His name is Ionut C. He charged me in full; when I reached out out to him the day after, he refused to refund me. This guy is SO RUDE and is a joke. DO NOT HIRE HIM! DO NOT USE TASK RABBIT!
