I needed to have a boxspring hauled to the local dump so I posted a request on TaskRabbit. No one responded to my offer of $60, plus an additional $17 for dump fees. The dump is less than 5 miles away. Finally a kind gentleman on TaskRabbit was willing to haul it away for $100 + $17. TaskRabbit charges 20% which is quite a large cut. I decided to give Craigslist a try and found someone right away who offered to dump it for $40 total. TaskRabbit is probably better suited for when you need to read the reviews of the taskers, otherwise their pricing is not very competitive in the marketplace.

The TaskRabbit website is also a bit inflexible in functionality. I wanted to specify a range of time for the task, but you have to lock down on a specific day/time. I liked the original website, where taskers would bid on your task and you pick the best offer.

I scheduled someone to install a ceiling fan. $39 an hour, they rescheduled then cancelled 8 hours before. I went to repost and that $39 increased to $50, same person. I was given an option to have them find someone for first $30 an hour and then $60. I am waiting to see if they hit me for the minimum 1 hour since you are required to cancel 24 hours in advance. The tasker told me I had to cancel so I attached the emails. Ripoff! Contacting them is next to impossible you get shifted to their FAQ's and after a lot of digging you finally find a way to email them.

It's a gamble when going with Task Rabbit
May 27, 2020

The electrician that I hired through Task Rabbit was great and so was the plumber. Unfortunately, the paint work I had done with one of the Taskers was very expensive and was done poorly. I had to spent a lot of my own money to prep and prime so there shouldn't have been so much to do. It took him an extremely long time. Frank was the Taskers name. He neglected to tell me that he was working other jobs and came over for 2-3 hour increments. I will not go with Task Rabbit again because of the problems I had. There was very little they did to try and resolve my issues even after I had made a complaint. I feel like it is worth the money and time to hire someone directly.

Handyman from hell
November 18, 2018

Please do not allow these handymen from TaskRabbit to do anything that require a license. I had a guy from this site that did odd jobs that he did well. Then he claimed he did plumbing, and tile work. He broke two water pipes that caused my kitchen corking to collapse, tore my house up trying to fix it. I had to get him out of my home. He left and the water pipes he tried to replace were a pure reck. It cost me thousands of dollars. I need a new ceiling once I clean up which will take me months. L

Company is a SCAM
July 10, 2018

I applied to be a tasker with this company. The site suggested several types of jobs that were the most requested. After going thru a VERY lengthy process, they charged me $20 to join the community. Only THEN did they inform me that there were NO jobs in my area! If this were a legitimate company, the site would've checked my zipcode and informed me of the lack of opportunities BEFORE taking my money! It is nothing but a money grub!

Good until LIED about
September 17, 2020

As I was mounting the TV to the wall the customer pushed his thumb into the screen and damaged his own TV.
Customer then blames me and lies in a review thinking taskrabbit will buy him a new TV.
I will never ask a customer for help again. Taskrabbit policy sucks, the "customer is always right" makes it easy to be lied about. New clients only see the bad review no rebutal allowed. Taskrabbit just emailed me a bigger insult telling me it's a violation to break TVs, ignoring the fact it takes two people to mount a big screen TV and ignoring the fact I was mounting the TV not holding it, ignoring pics of a perfectly mounted TV. I found Handy app I'll work with them.

This company has a long way to go from my perspective! I purchased IKEA product and they were recommended to me. Based on IKEA reputation, i contacted them but to my surprise, the task was cancelled without any prior notice and the the task date was rescheduled for 8 am on the 7th of May. At 8 am on this day, i got a message from whoever stating that i should send copy of my invoice. This was sent but to my surprise, the job was cancelled on the basis that there is a new policy that 2 people shld fix the wardrobe that i bought. Why did they wait until 2 mins bf he was to be at my place bf sending a message? I think IKEA should dissociate themselves from this unprofessional company

No reliability, cancellations for times. False advertising of availability. I TaskRabbit person canceled one hour before he was to arrive, I went back online to find somebody for the next day and 8 AM was advertised so I grabbed it. That guy wrote back that he could only do it at 7 AM. I agreed to that because at that point I really needed the help since I was already late with my project, and the next morning I awoke to find that he had canceled. Believe it or not I rebooked because I needed help that badly, But I just want to say that task rabbit sucks there is no accountability. Not only that but when I booked I had a discount code and after the guy canceled I could not use the code a second time. The whole process is extremely unreliable and unfair. Poor customer design

Best discovery ever!
January 31, 2021

I am a recent convert and user of taskrabbit and I will never go back to asking friends and family for referrals or spending time on craigs list or other sites.

So far I have used taskrabbit for 3 different tasks and used 3 different taskers. I was able to get help within hours and the taskers were very affordable! I required help packing up and delivering boxes for a college student, I used a tasker to make new decorative pillow covers for pillows, and I hired a tasker to build and hang shelves.

As a tasker, you are expected to schedule your availability on the app. Even on the days you are not scheduled, you are expected to respond to task requests. The tasks are non-urgent and are not same day tasks. Task Rabbit will communicate with clients that the tasker must be busy and sorry that they are unable to fulfill your request. Task Rabbit should let the taskers respond to the client on the morning of the available day for these non-urgent task requests. TR makes the tasker look like they are not responding but does not add the fact that the tasker is not on duty.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I hired a cleaner, Azia B., from Task Rabbit, with 1 week notice for the cleaning job. She asked for photos of the place (which I provided), and asked me to answer a long list of questions about the cleanliness of the place. She then changed the time that she was coming from 10 a.m. Sunday, to 9:30 a.m. Sunday, to 9 a.m. Sunday, to 8:30 a.m. Sunday. There was so much back-and-forth that it never occurred to me that she simply wouldn't show up, but that's exactly what happened. At that point, it was too late for me to get anyone else, so I had to do the job myself. Do not use this service!

I used TaskRabbit and they have really horrible customer service! I prefer this other website called SoManyErrands.com (www.somanyerrands.com). They're pretty new but they have amazing customer service and the website is really fun to use. You collect points as you use their site and you can use the points towards discounts and stuff!

Buyer beware. IKEA's furniture assembly services offered by TaskRabbit are fraudulent. We purchased an IKEA daybed in March 2019 in New York and signed up for TaskRabbit assembly, via the IKEA website. The quoted price for the assembly was $85.50. When the assembly was completed, TaskRabbit charged us $479.69! TaskRabbit and IKEA should be ashamed of the fraudulent assembly services they offer.

Tasker cancelled
March 28, 2022

First time client. Will likely not use TaskRabbit again. Requested help for loading UHaul. Tasker canceled 30 minutes prior, even after I adjusted my schedule for him. Now I'm sitting high and dry with a truck on a scheduled run, my apt sceduled for pest control and walkthrough. Plus, I can't lift heaviest pieces of furniture myself. Now TaskRabbit is directing me to people who make $80+ an hour. Phooey.

Recently got several charges from taskrabbit on my card statement for jobs/tasks I never posted I knew nothing about. I disputed these charges and the bank refunded the £££, but taskrabbit has insisted that the jobs were legit and that I supposedly authorized them, even though they were done in a different country by someone I'd never heard of. Tasker "Antony Nwosa" supposedly spent 5.5 hours assembling a wardrobe in Dartford UK, but the job was commissioned at 12:58pm and completed at 2:00pm - so could not possibly have taken 5.5 hours. But taskrabbit didn't think that's fishy at all... Couldn't be any more obviously fraudulent, total scam.

I'm sure there are some genuine people trying to earn a living through this company, but it looks like others are abusing it to steal or launder money. Buyer very much beware!

I couldn't call TaskRabbit. They would only accept emails. Then they put the burden of proof on me and told me to send them photos. They do not want to talk to customers. They only want to send emails. I've been waiting over a week to get this sofa bed assembled correctly. We had to use the sofa bed, that's why we bought it to use it! Now it is really unstable because she didn't tighten the screws and the side of the sofabed is breaking away. I guess I am going to be stuck with a broken sofa and paid $120 for a job that wasn't completed.
I'll never use Task Rabbit again. And the extra hidden fee is a rip-off

I tried to become a Tasker. It sounded really good and to become a Tasker was easy & quick. Got the app and started to wait for task. Eventually task showed up and for my surprise I just couldn't to confirm it. App just froze when entered estimated time. So I started to get technical help. Good luck to find any help! There are only standard FAQ and troubleshooting, nothing useful. After about 48hrs trying to solve my problem I just gave up and went back to Craigslist (no problems, always get customers and still my own boss, albeit don't have to share my earnings).

My experience with TaskRabbit has been nothing short of disastrous. I hired a tasker to handle a home project, which not only resulted in significant property damage but also posed a serious safety risk. The tasker's poor work led to my TV falling, which could have caused severe injuries.

TaskRabbit's offer of a measly $165 compensation is not just insufficient; it's insulting given the gravity of the situation. But what's even more concerning is their blatant disregard for qualifications. It appears that practically anyone can claim to be experienced in any field they offer, putting customers at high risk for both property damage and personal injury.

I tried to address these alarming issues in a second email, expecting TaskRabbit to at least acknowledge the seriousness of the situation. Yet, they chose not to respond, showing a complete lack of accountability and customer care.

With TaskRabbit's lack of a proper vetting process, along with their unresponsive customer service, I've been left with no choice but to escalate the issue to the Better Business Bureau. I strongly caution anyone considering using TaskRabbit for home or personal projects: think twice. Your property and personal safety could be at risk.

Appalling service
November 8, 2018

If I could give zero stars, I would. We booked a tasker to put up several large shelves. He was here for a very short amount of time but the shelves appeared to be fine, so we didn't mind. The next day I woke up to find one of the shelves on the floor, surrounded by chunks of plaster and paint. There were also several holes in our wall. The brackets had not been secured properly at all.
It's been a nightmare to deal with TR's "customer services". After several days of trying to get a response, they finally emailed back to offer us a discount on the cost of another mounting/installation task. There was no mention of fixing the damage caused. They clearly expected us to arrange it and pay for it ourselves. We rejected their voucher and demanded they pay for the repair costs but have been met with silence. Another shelf has since fallen down, causing yet more damage.
I have no faith in their complaints procedure so although we are out of pocket, it looks like we'll have to cut our losses and move on. It goes without saying that I will never use TR again and would strongly discourage anyone else from doing so. They are complete charlatans.

I bought a new bed with drawers and dresser. Booked to have Task Rabbit assemble via the IKEA website. The guy who tried to put this together simply ruined both pieces. The drawers don't fit, scratches and dents. And now to try to speak to someone from this company is impossible. I am out about $1,000

NEVER AGAIN FOR ME
