First-time Task Rabbit user for Ikea bed assembly. Had to go on the site and give credit card. Bad vibe right there. After completion of "profile" almost instantly got a text from a guy saying "thanks for hiring me." What? I asked for qualifications/experience. He seemed nice/legit enough but I just didn't like paying some total stranger to come into my house and spend four hours assembling something. I've done Ikea stuff before. I'll do it again, just for longer.
I have used task rabbit on multiple occasions for all different tasks. Painting, TV mounting, fixing broke furniture, office work, courier services etc. Never disappointing in the price or the people.
I applied to be a Task Rabbit, followed up a couple weeks later. I received a scripted response (tacky) that not everyone who applies is hired because they don't want to saturate the market. I was surprised and disappointed as I'd heard very good things about them. No recommendations from me
Just a word of caution. The assemblers were good. However if a bill is submitted by the assembler without your approval Task Rabbit will debit your account. They are slow to non responsive in refunding your monies. There is no customer support. Sending an email for help was not good. Credit card refunded my overcharge
Before you use this company, you need to realize that they will not necessarily stand behind their Tasker's as they are contracted workers and not employees. We had some staining work done, and the person we hired made a complete mess of the job costing us thousands of dollars to remove spills and shoddy workmanship. Please understand that the task is qualifications are not verified. They can write anything they want in their profile. The person we hired was very nice but in way over his head and never admitted such. Taskrabbit did refund our money but only after weeks of back-and-forth via email and chat as they do not offer an option to speak with the claims team any other way. You cannot call them and discuss your claim.
Buyer beware with this company.
I hired someone to put together a desk chair when my disability prevented me from even completing the first step without injury. They did a great job and finished up in 30 minutes. I still had to pay for an hour though because that's the minimum. I would have preferred the rate be cut in half for quicker jobs.
No way to change a booking time. Hooked me up with someone who emailed back that he was not comfortable doing the work I needed done. (Breaker in a breaker box needed changing out) So why pair me with this person? Very frustrating. I suggest using Home Advisor instead. They called me right away after I visited their website. I just wanted this job to get booked so I could use my time for other things. Instead, I've wasted time dealing with them. Never again.
Absolutely have had nothing but success with each of the taskers that I've used on taskrabbit. And that's where the good news ends. Their recent series of add-on charges is so out of control it can only be considered price gouging of their customers. I'm now switching to a handyman service that has a flat rate and this is a person who actually is bonded and insured and even though the rate is a little high at least I know that rate will not change. It saddens me for the taskers themselves because I'm fairly sure those funds are not even touching the taskers they are all going to Taskrabbit corp. Shady corporate greed.
Hired someone to move a sofa today. Quoted $180 for an easy job and 45 minute drive but it was last minute so I was ok with that. Just received my taskrabbit invoice. There's an extra $70 tacked on for taskrabbit's fee. Nowhere is it clearly disclosed that you pay an additional fee of 35% to taskrabbit. I will caution people about using the service going forward. Not at all happy with that fee.
I hired a tasker to deliver a package. Total travel time per waze should have been 55 minutes. Tasker charged me a total of 3 hours! I could have understood maybe an hour over, for traffic and actual package delivery to site, but she also charged for her "travel" time to and from pick up/drop off point in addition! My biggest gripe, is there doesn't seem to be any recourse. She could have charged me 5 hours and I am unable to dispute the charges. Task Rabbit does not answer there phone, nor do they respond to emails! Steer clear!
Super efficient and easy to use. Everyone on task rabbit is very professional and gets the job done! I've used it twice in a week and always satisfied! So great to use if you are moving and need help setting things up.
I used Task Rabbit 3 different times when I was living in Los Angeles 2014-2015. Twice I used them for handyman projects and once to help me pack up for a move in July '15. I never had a problem with the 3 workers used. I wish they had Task Rabbit in Ft Lauderdale.
I am editing my review as of April 2021. I used Task Rabbit last month to have a piece of furniture put together. The tasker (person who I hired) charged me $165 for 3 hours work (even though he was only there for 2.5 hours - guess they round up). The company, Task Rabbit, charged me an additional $24.88 calling it a "Trust & Safety Fee." It's not a flat fee. The more the tasker charges you, the higher the trust & safety fee. Not quite worth it anymore.
Taskrabbit is very much on the side of the money. It does little to protect its taskers from the whims of the public who use it.
Clients are free to leave negative reviews full of lies and taskrabbit will not change them, even when presented with clear evidence of the lies.
Clients are free to choose incorrect categories of work and then just write a completely different list of demands. For example, they can select "delivery" (intended to be delivery of small items such as clothing or food, as specified by taskrabbit itself) but it will actually turn out to be a full house move. There is no penalty to the clients for this.
Clients are free to add extra tasks on the day and make extra demands not agreed upon, if you (as a tasker) decline, you are subject to negative reviews even though the client breached the agreement.
When jobs go well, this app is a dream, when they don't; it's a nightmare.
I used it twice, each time the task was doing a couple merch pickups for me and delivering them to my house. Very basic stuff, obviously. Both taskers were timely, professional and everything was delivered as expected. I knocked one star off because one tasker was, I assume, filling out a couple other tasks because what should have been a 30-45 minute task turned into 80 minutes. I didn't get charged for 80 minutes, btw. I got charged for 30. I knocked a star off because of the excessive time on that particular task.
I couldn't imagine using this service for something like drywall work, electric work etc. I would suggest something like thumbtack for those types of needs.

My tasker was excellent. Jaala. But Taskrabbit it horrible. Their website is so very difficult to navigate with no answers and over and over and over again inputting your information and it still goes nowhere. They hold u hostage to review (says review and tip)(u MUST) and there is no where to tip. I spent 4 hrs trying to tip and there is no chat response or any answers. THEY ALSO HOLD YOUR CC HOSTAGE AND DO NOT ALLOW U TO CHANGE YOUR CARD NUMBER. Spent so much time trying and once they got your card,...they will not let u change or cancel it. WILL NEVER GO BACK TO TASKRABBIT. HORRIBLE COMPANY AND THESE ONLINE ONLY WITH NO CHAT OR NOONE TO TALK TO OR NOT COMMUNICATION OR NO ANSWERS. Cc hostage once they got it. THIS COMPANY HOLDS U HOSTAGE ONE THEY HAVE YOUR CC NUMBER. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THESE PEOPLE AND THIS COMPANY AGAIN!
I got a king size bed from ikea and they arranged these scammers to install my bed. I was scheduled on Thursday, so I took off from work. At the time of the appointment, the tasker calls me to tell that he has to cancel my appointment since he is double booked and as I have pre paid the company through ikea, he will give more priority to the other client. I call the customer service but they want me to book a different appointment and also pay more money. Finally ikea booked me for Friday. Then at the time of the appointment, the new tasker again cancels my appointment and let me know he can only come on next day. Then he finally shows up on Saturday 2 hours late and it takes him 4 hours to finish 50% of the installation and suddenly tells my wife he has to leave immediately since he has a different task which is very important to him. My wife tells him to finish our task first, but he completely ignores her and leaves. Now my current status is I got my bed 1 week back and I'm still sleeping on floor. Never experienced anything like this in Canada.
Signed up. Booked a task. Picked the guy. Picked the day and time. Tasker gets back to me with completely different day and times! I gave him two other dates and a time range and he said he couldn't do it! Wasted my time. Stupid service. Takes forever to figure out how to cancel. Could have assembled the item myself in that time.
Shame I have had to give one star as they don't even deserve that! The way they treat their taskers is terrible! Their customer service stinks and as for resolving issues, no taskrabbit you have NOT resolved my issue until you have made the payment you owe me for work that I have done!
When a tasker causes damage (large or small), TaskRabbit requires you to first file a claim with your homeowners insurance & provide proof that you've done so. Currently in the US, just about any claim against your homeowners insurance will result in either an huge jump in your rates or complete cancellation of coverage, and good luck finding new homeowners insurance. When a tasker caused damage in my home, that's what they required, so I'm forced to pay for the repair and replacement of items (including finding someone qualified to do that repair). So much for my Happiness with TaskRabbit. Then when I went into their system to give a review, suddenly I'm not able, and the tasker that was working on my shower - it now says he was doing furniture assembly! He dropped the expensive rain shower head, severely damaging it, plus damaged the handle that selects handheld or shower. I'll have to replace the entire unit (as the head itself isn't available). The unit is about $520 plus the cost of having a qualified plumber install it. (I have no proof of purchase as the folks that just remodeled had purchased it.) Preventing me from doing a review and altering what he was doing (after the fact) is definitely dishonest at best. I'll never, ever use TaskRabbit again, and I really don't recommend anyone else do so either - the risk is too high. Please read the details on their 'Happiness Pledge' and you will probably agree.
Ikea recommendation for self assembly wardrobes. The sensor light should go off when door closes...it doesn't. One handle not put on...I would need to drill hole myself to do...the worst of it he's made to holes in 2 doors by error and patched it up with white plastic dowels. Task Rabbit have offered me £38 credit to get another tasker out! What a con. Do not use at all. And I have no means of contacting the assembler as this can only be done via TR platform
Answer: Mine responded and loved to chat. At the end, he cancelled the appointment. What a waste of time. Very disappointing.
Answer: Hi Carlos, thanks for your inquiry! When registering, a form of payment as well as bank info is required. The form of payment covers the cost of registration and the bank info is linked to your account so that you can receive payment from your Client once you begin tasking.
