Target Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects a mix of positive and negative sentiments. Customers appreciate the convenience, product variety, and competitive pricing, particularly praising the store's layout and exclusive brands. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, with reports of long wait times, unresponsive staff, and issues with online orders and returns. Many customers express frustration over outdated products and perceived indifference from management. These trends suggest that while the company offers a strong shopping experience, substantial improvements in customer support and service reliability are needed to enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Poor selection
February 18, 2015

Merchandise may appear on the website, but is often out of stock online. This has been a problem for the last 3-4 years with Target.

Target blows away the other big box stores, It is an all around better user experience. Their stores are always clean, well stocked & brightly lit. You can easily find employees nearby to help. When busy, they open additional cash registers. (Walmart's refusal to open more than 1-2 registers even with 6+ in line was especially aggravating). The family bathroom is a Godsend. And who doesn't like the Starbuck's and snack bar?!? With the addition of the RedCard we are saving an extra 5% right off. Add on the CartWheel app and I frequently save an add'l 5% (or more) on various items. Plus an extra 30 days for returns. When it comes to returns (even gift recipients), Target customer service is less hassle by far! We have used wedding & baby registry and found them helpful. Most locations have added groceries including many gluten-free options. Prices (especially frozen) beat our usual grocer even before the RedCard discount. Target always has excellent sales. The meat/produce selection is small but of good quality. We use Costco & the farmer's market for those anyway. Their home products are better designed than others. They're big about being fresh and on-trend. Service thru their website is dependable.

Lets face facts the only reason most subject themselves to that type of over crowded shopping and the longest lines ever to check out is the money you will save. But the most irritating thing to me is obvious secret shoppers. They are a joke. Around every corner you turn. I can understand that Target is probably suffers contless inventory losses but true story: while I was brousing around the store and being watched by this one 50ish gentleman a lady and her kid were trying shoes on and I watched the women put the new shoes on the kid, she put a new pair on and both used pairs went into the box and they processed to walk around like no big deal. My daughter could not stand it one more time and walked right up to the lead cashier and told her, pointed out the mother and kid and was told sweetie unless we see them do it there is nothing we can do. I told the guy that was following me around and he says sorry lady I don't work for Target. I mean really. So do not wonder why your inventory loss is probably more than the 3% you allow each quarter. Being in retail management for over 20 years I don't miss a thing. This is sad when your employees are trained to ignore this type of blatant theft.

My very first time shopping at Target was this past Christmas. I purchased gifts for my three grand sons. My five year old did not receive his gift until after new Years. No communication during this time, mind you I was promised Christmas Eve arrival the latest. Shame on you Target! The price was right though.

No longer competitive with Walmart. Often treat their customers poorly if they have a complaint. Cashiers are usually friendly at least.

Love to order from Target because the shipping is free if you have their red card/debit card. I can have my daughter (who is away at college without transportation) order her deodorant, make up, shampoo, etc on my account and it ships to her dorm.

Bought a piece of furniture but poor shipping and packing meant pieces were missing. The instructions had a number to call for replacement parts-why they don't use a website to do this is beyond me? So I called on Sat, no dice, only open Mon-Fri. Call Monday, offices are closed on Central Time. Called again, finally get a person, the guy asks me to repeatedly spell every part of my name and address. After 10 painful minutes getting my details, I get to the item number 'oh you need to call this number for that particular part'.
So I'm referred to Target online customer service, more waiting. It took 15 minutes for the rep to find the order number. Sorry, we don't have that part so your options are a refund or call this company for the part.
So here's the deal, all I needed was 6 cams and cam bolts to assemble the piece. Probably 25 cents of parts, it took almost one hour on the phone and 5 different reps. None of whom were able to secure the missing parts or were willing to achieve customer service and get those parts sent to me. All I got was scripted apologies and 'this is how I have to do this'.
So the upshot is I am returning a $450 piece of furniture, which will end up scrapped. Target has to pay UPS $75 in return shipping, all because a company policies and customer service can't get it together to send out 25 cents worth of bolts.
