Absolute trash pile! I received my tangie MasterCard and the (unwanted) visa debit card associated with my account. Since day one the debit card has NEVER ONCE worked. Not anywhere, not anytime. Ever! The tangie MasterCard worked a few times but after ONE, (1), Uno... Mistaken pin input at a gas pump locked my card completely for " too many failed pin attempts". Remember I failed ONCE! This was back in Nov. 2024 and despite every attempt to get help from these idiots my MasterCard and debit card are still locked out and utterly useless. But not to worry, I still keep getting countless emails about features and/or programs I cannot access, statements about accounts I cannot use and straight up ads for tangie.
UPDATE: Since posting this I've spent another two hours on the phone, spoken with no less than six individuals in 3 departments who all lied through their teeth about what is really going on. This prompted me to close out my savings and chequing accounts, having the funds trapped in them donated to charity as I cannot gain access. (Oddly, tangerine has no problem accomplishing this.) I also closed/cancelled my tangerine MasterCard in the same call.
I cannot under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE recommend tangerine bank to anyone, period!
ALERT! I've been using Tangerine for 5 years now and I have to say, it's not safe and secure. Recently, I tried to withdraw a small amount of $500 and they locked my account. They asked me to verify my identity by sending them a selfie and ID, but they didn't approve it. It's a classic scam scheme. I lost a lot of money there, around $*. Tangerine is an online-only bank, which means that when you need any support, it has to be done either online or over the phone. For a problem as simple as replacing a damaged credit card, there is nothing you can do online or through the app. You should call them, and the wait times are always a few hours, no matter what day or time of the day you call. There was a time that Tangerine customer service was OK, but now it's terrible and I would not recommend it to anyone.
The title of my review should say it all! But let me add it is in fact worse than that as I would as a seasoned borrower seriously avoid this bank and apply extreme caution. They constitute in my opinion the meaning of predatory lending.

I called, because my app was not working, and asking me to call a 1- 866 - 826 - 4375. So I called. And that was when I started getting very rude callers, who would ask my age, and I felt violated. I felt many who spoke, were in east Indian English language. And understanding was very hard. Several times the line dropped or was hung up on me. And I did not get a call back.
I called several times that I lost count, until I got a lady who was very courteous "Emily" who sorted my situation once and for all. I am so disgusted, with the attitude of Tangerine service altogether, that when a client falls, there is no help given or a remedy for provided, but is threatened and ridiculed to the point I cried for several days.
Do not. Even think of using this card if you travel. The card may work once and that's it When you call you will be on hold for at least 30 minutes while they tell you they are 12 times winner of the J D Power award for customer service. Be prepared to wait 4 days for them to transfer your money to a bank whose card will work. Sadly I tried their card on a friday so 2 business days for them to transfer. I actually joined J D Power to ask how such a badly run company won even once! If you do have to call make sure to use the collect number and not the 1-800 and maybe if they suffer some consequence like I have they will actually have something resembling customer service one day. The star I gave them is actually a -1.
Honestly run! These guys at the security department are not even trained! Just run don't even attempt this place. I would rather eat another humans puke than deal with this place. And now knowing Scotia bank owns this company, that is even more scary
Sent an e-transfer to myself for a large amount. The transfer doesn't go through but the funds disappear from my account! I then get locked out of ALL my accounts. I call to resolve the situation and David ******* from the security department lies and tells me that he made a complaint for me and escalated the issue but fails to provide me a reference for the call and then hangs up on me because he doesn't "feel like waiting" while the issue gets resolved. I am shocked that this bank employs people like David ******* Really disappointed from the service received from David ******* and how I was treated. The worst. I truly hope noone ever goes through something like this.
I have tried for a month now and spoken to 5 to 6 different agents, including a "manager" and have gotten no help or proper follow to my CC issue. I have asked the different agents this past for help to install my CC to my Google pay.
Each time been told thar a ticket has been raised and it would take 1 to 2 business days for the installation from their end to be installed. It is now almost a month and still no results, that's even with a " supervisor " issuing one of those tickets.
Planning on switching because they are no help and to be honest, very difficult to understand.
So card work at grocery store (tap), went to get gas tap wouldnt work, stuck at gas station now after being on hold to reset pin only to tell me i have to go to a scotia, update they cut me off from my funds for 3 days until security can talk to me...? I know totally unheard off, I just put in the wrong pin what a pain it has caused
After 20 years of having an account, Tangerine still won't allow me to get promotion. Also was on phone for hours on hold. If they don't allow you to get promo even after 20 years, then imagine how inflexible they will be if I were their client now again. That's totally wrong and not a professional way to gain back old customers. That's a great way to reassure ex customers not to come back
I try calling the security team to unblock my internet access. Over 12 telephone calls you will be waiting 1/2 hour to 1 hour to get a answer. You will need to send in document by email. Than they ask me to take a selfie of my self holding my drivers card. Is this really nessary? Do they have some photo ID software in the banking centre. This action make me feel I'm a criminal being charge for wanting access to my account. I also ask for a manager or supervisor to call me back? Customer service tells me what for? I can just speak to them? I'm not Sure if they are running a bank or a police military station?

Someone frauded my account, deposited a fake check and instead of investigating what happened they closed my account. Basically saying i did this and refuses any reason or wouldn't even listen to me. Bunch of $#*!s.
30 minute to 1 hour wait times on average. Calls drop 50 % of the time. Customer service inconsistent, staff lie and make things up about why client cards don't work, policies and procedures.
You get what you pay for...
No service! Impossible to speak with someone on the phone, when they answer, they put you on hold, they transfer you, than they put you on hold and then they transfer you again and again you just finish by closing the phone because your batterie is dead! I had fraud in my bank account, they never stopped the thieves if I hadn't transfert my money in savings my bank account would have been emptied because they can't stop the frauds! They howe me 138.70$ still! You can't trust that bank and you have a bad service!
I used to applied Tangerine's Home Equity Line of Credit, with lower mortgage rate than Other banks. I only applied 200K loans, but being request to registering my Land Title Act of Full Value of the house, which means they report to the government that they own full value of house, please refer attached document clause 16 from more details. It means in case I passed away, Tangerine will own the full value of my house even I just owe $1000 to them! Finally I refuse to their mortgage.
Terrible customer service! They hold your money without reason!

They have blocked my account without acceptable reasons.
They put me 35 min on hold to discover the mistake was on their side. Their only excuse: a computer problem... 35 min wait tells with what priority this bank is willing to solve their client problem. I have an excellent credit score, with more than 1/2 million dollar with them, I never complain, but for me this is to much, they have gone too far...!
My wife was stuck all that time at a cash dispenser with our little children, waiting desesperately that the problem be resolved.
You dont want bad experiences of that kind: run away and find yourself another bank...
My Wife and I are new account holders. I now regret all the work I had to do to setup the accounts. Here are my grievances.
1. Cannot open a Joint Chequing account without both parties having their own account and debit card first. So we did this.
2. Cannot link the other joint account holder's debit card to the Joint account. Accounts can only have 1 debit card.
3. Cannot transfer money directly to my daughters account. For years I have been sending her a weekly allowance automatically from another bank. I can only email an Interact transfer manually. Not doing that 52 times a year.
Everything above is support by our TD accounts.
If you live in an acreage, have a PO Box or whatever you so use
DO NOT deal with tangerine banking
They do not call back, they do not process information properly, they DO NOT deal with customers appropriately or honestly

Ive been trying for almost three months and supervisors are no better then the staff manning the phones, no one saves information, they could care less if you've called 10 times with the same reoccuring issue, they give false information and supervisors simply will ignore you if you have a valid reason for frustrations.
I have been waiting on a call for more than 6hrs to resolve my locked account issue. I couldn't even get a chance to talk to a support guy who can explain the issue.
Every day I have to call them and they will put me on a line to the security department which never responds. If you have money in Tangerine bank consider it can be taken away from you anytime.
