I purchased a used car engine from SWEngines for $1595 with a mileage of ~62K miles. A month later it was delivered to my mechanic's place of business. Because on the delay, I contacted the auto parts/salvage yard as indicated on the bill of lading. In talking to the employee who handles engines sales, he verified the sale to SWEngines and found out the engine has over 180K miles on it.
I would recommend that you get the VIN of the engine you are interested in and before ordering, get a vehicle history report. You will find that company doesn't actually have in their possession the engine you want. They will search the network of auto parts and find an engine nearest to your location. So when you receive the engine, you can verify the VIN again (the VIN is stamped on the engine).
It has been over a month now that I had the engine at my mechanic's waiting for it to be returned and then hopefully, I will get a refund.
I posted a rather detailed account of my experience on reddit, just search for swengines.
I have had the same experience with this company as everyone that has posted here.
I was sent at first a bad motor that was labeled "for parts only" and then another motor was sent that had 140,000 miles while the sales contract was for a motor with 64,000 miles. After I refused the 2nd motor they refunded part of the money but still kept $1488. This was completely on them to supply me with a motor as advertised but they miserably failed to do so.
I made many calls without getting through to anyone but or no response - within an hour or so of filing a complaint with the State of Wisconsin there was a response from their lawyer who was evidently just
Waiting for this complaint.
They seem to only exist to rip people off. If that is not bad enough they have a lawyer that is corrupt enough to defend them. The State of Wisconsin wants to be rid of them but for some reason have not been successful. Mr Howard Phillips is more than willing to assist anyone with complaints. It may also help to address this to your credit card company and see what they can do to stop honoring sales through companies like this.
If they want to respond that is fine but as usual they will deny they have done anything wrong. If they want the invoice number they will have to look up the invoice themselves.
I purchased an engine from this company "SWEngines". The engine was sent to a Mechanic.
During shipping my car was stolen from my driveway. I spoke with a warranty person who told me to have the Engine rejected when it arrived from my Mechanic. My Mechanic failed to do so but that's another issue. He was going to waive the shipping fee and just charge a 25% restocking fee which he was going to try and have that waived too since I was dealing with the theft and all.
I called and Called trying to see if the Engine had arrived back at the company only to find out weeks later it was still at the mechanics. I asked for Managers and personnel to return my calls. No one did. My wife called and spoke with a sales person who was rude to her and hung up on her.
Today 09/24/2018 I called and Spoke with a "Warranty Manager" who told me he couldn't waive any of the fees if I returned it and then he told me to stop calling. Although he rudely told me to have a good day it was over at that point my blood was boiling.
Reason of review: Return, Exchange or Cancellation Policy.
Monetary Loss: $1495.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
I didn't like: Failed to meeting shipping dates, Service after warranty invoked, Customer service, Unreasonable warranty requirement, Rude staff.
I ordered an engine from this company and it cost $8400 total with core charge. I paid for it and was told it would arrive in aprox 5- 10 days. I waited over a 1 1/2 months and still no engine. I called up numerous times and no one every calls back. I get an email indicating its shipping out soon and after another three weeks still no motor. I finally get one person on the phone and tells me they lost it in shipping. He then tells me he will call back on Monday. No call period back, I leave two more messages on Tuesday and not return call. I call again both Thursday and Friday and finally get a person on the phone. The shipper tells me the manager lied and the engine was never shipped as it was found to be defective months prior. The basically used my $8400 as a free loan. I finally get a manager on the phone and hangs up saying they will refund the money as he hangs up. I tried and call back to confirm how and just continues to hang up and laugh as he does it. How can anyone really write a positive review about a company that behaves this way. I own a bunch of large shops and could never think to handle a customer this way, especially one that just wants to confirm how they get the refund back. I could only imagine if the engine was bad when they shipped it out and had to get help for this group a losers to resolve. Good luck with staying in business as you have no clue.
Remanns engines sold me a bad transmission thou SW ENGINES for 840.00 they wouldn't refund my money r replace transmission, wouldn't answer email r phone call they r a fake service that get your money and want refund it after selling u junk
Previously my father has bought a Hyundai Entourage engine for $1395 that was being shipped to FL that supposedly had 70k miles
The engine was supposedly steam cleaned but upon arrival the engine itself was dirty and rusty all over the engine including the studs itself.
We only inspected the engine on the lift gate, we didn't take the engine out of the lift gate. If the engine came out of the lift gate we will be forced to take this garbage engine they sent. We told the truck driver to take this junk engine back and we requested a full refund.
Upon getting our full refund we called and was told to wait and then they hung up on us a few times. Even when calling back they never picked up which then we had to call our bank to get our refund back and wait MONTHS just to get only $500 back while swengines kept $895
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AT ALL
DO NOT TRUST THEIR POSITIVE REVIEWS
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! BUYER BEWARE!
Check Better Business Bureau before you buy. After you see ALL the complaints you will not buy from them. Absolutely horrible, and very expensive experience. This Company is a SCAM! DO NOT BUY!
You buy a used engine and you get a piece of garbage not even properly secured to a pallet or
Worth your $ to get installed because you'll need to pay to have it taken back out when it doesn't run.
I ordered a used engine from this place without doing proper searching for BBB reviews and customer
Reviews. Just simply type SW engines into a search and you'll instantly see what kind of company this
Is. I cancelled my order once i watched a news clip about these POS. The next day the engine showed up with no tracking or heads up it was coming. They delivered an engine that our local garage said was filthy and had been sitting around outside for a long time. They advised me not to even think about having them install it because there was a good chance it wouldnt run and i would be wasting alot of time and $. They refunded 75% of my money and kept 25% for a restocking fee. Filed a dispute with my POS bank and they found in favor of these turds. Pretty good scam these people have going on. They are NOT accredited by the BBB and they have a $#*! ton of horrible reviews... take our warning and stay clear of these maggots. They pray on unknowing people in distress over having a vehicle with a bad engine! My story matches so many reviews i can't believe PNC bank in Pittsburgh sided with them. I'll be taking my banking elsewhere.
The company lies. They make you believe your getting the correct eng to make model and year car is that your looking for.its B's.not only was eng a different block with different bolt sizes than original eng it also looked like they pulled it out of a junk pile and said Walla good eng with less than 79,000 on it.it was not cleaned, most of the accessories that come with eng we're broke, and the looks of all the gaskets it had well over 130,000 on it and no paperwork to prove it had what they said they were shipping. They are scammers scammers scammers. Found out eng came from Pennsylvania and had over 130,000 on the eng they sent me. I WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER RECOMMEND this company for anything and will make sure what liers they are to all the mechanics who I personal know not to ever ever even consider them and that they should pass the word on. Dont know how they can stay in business with the s@#$ they send out. Your review SW Engines is a big fat 0. Worst company I have ever dealt with. Good luck to anyone who uses them. Your in for a big disappointed and a empty wallet. Look around before you buy an eng or anything.its worth the time and you will find a better product than what SW Engines can give you.
Was promised a tested motor which took 2 weeks to get it in because I was told it was going through "quality control"! When it finally arrived I had it installed, drove it one week only to discover it had low compression in a cylinder (bad motor). Had to jump through hoops to get a replacement motor shipped, it arrived, had it installed and then was told it would take up to 10 business days to get the reimbursement for the install labor into my account. Today is day 9, received an email telling me that they are only reimbursing $650 of the $1,547.75 charge for the 2nd replacement motor installation which includes the $200 diagnostic test that was required on the defective motor by them in order to be eligible to receive the replacement motor. This is leaving me to cover $897.75 of the cost to install the replacement motor that was their responsibility for because of the defective 1st motor. Their customer service is absolutely horrible, I would not recommend ever doing business with them ever!
I bought a 2007 infiniti g35x used transmission. They originally shipped the wrong one, they promptly shipped the correct one, 11 days total. So far so good.
A friend recommended SWEngines and I took his word for it -- I rank this among the top three worst decisions I have ever made, and I don't remember the other two.
One disaster after another.
I completed my order 13 May, 2023. "Thank you for your recent order (Invoice # *******) from SWEngines.com: 300-******* 2016 Nissan Frontier Engine 4.0L (VIN A, 4th digit, VQ40DE)
We truly value your business"
16 May I received a notification from them the order was being processed and will ship in 7-14 business days.
On 31 May, I received an apology for a "slight delay".
Finally shipping confirmation on 5 June.
Then I get this on 7 June, "Sent paperwork to the warehouse to get this picked up and they loaded it onto the incorrect truck. Should have it back here in the next few days and then reship out to you, that transit time is 3-4 business days. You should receive this by next week."
Followed by more reassurances on 12 June, "First and foremost, we want to apologize for having to send another email about a delay with your order. Rest assured, YOUR order is our top priority."
Then on 19 June "I see this was returned to the warehouse but not sure why they havent given me the ok to reship yet. Ill reach out to my contact in the morning and get this resolved."
20 June "I got it figured out, pushing this onto the truck today to head your way. Transit times are between 3-5 business days from my estimation."
FINALLY the engine shows up 9 July.
But guess what – the engine oil cooler is busted as it sits on the shipping container. It is a +$400 OEM part that I find for just over $300 including tax and shipping. I figure no problem SWEnginens has a warrantee program. Right? – I have to prepare the engine and pay to have it sent back to SWEngines and either request a refund – assuming they acknowledge responsibility – or pay to have a replacement shipped to me. What kind of a warrantee is that? Useless. Regardless of any disclaimer, how can SWEngines test performance of an engine with a busted oil cooler?
I cannot count the number of times I called SWEngines trying to get help. I cannot count the number of times I was told that someone would get back to me and never did.
God has the last Word.
On March 4 I purchased a motor from this company they offer. A ******* miles motor or 5 0 k miles warranty when I received on March 12 a big different story the motor look that they have it in a corner on a junk yard they send to me look all rustic upside down with all wiring and connection all bad my motor in my car with ******* miles look in better condition that the one they send it they charge me 1395 plus 75 residential fee for a total of 1470 after 4 months they only refund me 556.25 because they said that I agreed with their terms when in their "terms" said that they can charge a 25% restock fee. They keep 913.75 from me a good sale for them but look okay you can keep it but the only thing I will told You is that is a GOD upstairs that is looking down when your company do bad just think on all the ripoff that you do to all the people. If you should charge me the 25% okay I will understand but you know that you took more almost 70% you didn't know all the sacrifice that I has to do to get that money from family friends because when my car broke down I didn't have the money to purchased that motor I'm disable person I depend from my transportation to go to my doctor appt, pharmacy but you think with 500.00 that yousend me I can get anywhere but that's life thank you very much for all that pain that you Cause me and my family now I don't have motor no car thank you, keep making money like that. Vicente family. Invoice number *******..
The sad part is that about 5 years ago I bought an engine from them and it turned out to be very good so I decided to use them again and here recently bought another engine in December 2021 I ordered the engine on December 4 2021 did not receive the engine till January 5 2022 and when I did receive it it was shipped poorly full of rust. My mechanic immediately inspected it and discovered that it was no good I then called back could not get in touch with anybody on the warranty department to help me out for some time I finally got a response and asked me to send pictures in order to figure out whether or not they were going to decide how they were going to give me another engine they finally came and picked up the engine on February 3 and I have still not received any information in regards to a refund from them, from what I'm reading from other peoples reviews chances are I'm probably not gonna get a refund back or if not maybe just 75% of it because of their 25% restocking fee if I'm lucky.
I bought an engine for Nissan Frontier in May 2016. My shop installed engine using SWengines "Required Installation Procedures." That engine was defective, burning 1-2 quarts oil per 1000 miles. I requested new engine. SWengines said it was orignally not coverd by warranty (in one part of warranty is said excessive oil consumption was covered; in the "finer print" it said that issus was not covered.) They required me to obtain $558 of diagnosis from my shop -- they even requested/required a "differential compression test" from the mechanic in a 3-way telephone call. Finally, after many phone calls and emails and about three months, they agreed to replace the defective engine. But SWengines reimbursed only $660 of $2272 (including the $558 diagnosis they required) that it cost me to follow their required installation procedures, and will not warrant the replacement (2nd) engine. It took about 2.5 months to provide the 2nd (replacement) engine, and they never provided details about the mileage or other factors about that engine (luckily it is working well). I would not do business with this company again. I am considering suing for the $1612 I'm out of pocket on the 2nd engine replacement cost. Ken
Horrific group of salespeople. Liars. Go anywhere but here. Wrong part. Manager and sales screamed at me and slammed phone down.
I ordered a 4.7L for a 2010 Ram 1500 on 14 June 2021. I was told 7-14 business days and that part was fine. I got sucked in by the 3 year warrantee, "No core charge" and "No shipping fee". Surprise of surprises when they send me a request for a review just 2 days later.
When it arrived at the shop it had lots of damage by mistreatment! Heater core lines and radiator hoses were cut, instead of just using the proper tool to remove the hose clamps. The shim between the engine and tranny was mangled so bad as to be useless! BOTH valve covers were bashed in on the front portion of the engine and stuffed with rags! Wiring bundles and connectors YANKED with force as to ruin the connectors. Main wiring bundle just cut through and drivers side exhaust line burned off the exhaust manifold, rendering it ALSO USELESS!
I'm not an ASA certified or Master Mechanic, HOWEVER, I've been doing this for years and have NEVER seen such a piece of crap job of pulling an engine!
Pictures available upon request!
Transmission for our 2009 Town & Country was no good, every call to SWEngines ended in them hanging up on me. The Transmission was not as they promised. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I want to know how ordering something is always very simple? Then anything after that is a damn nightmare?!?! Ordered my motor... saw the pics of it, picked it out because of the mileage and overall `appearance. Well ya know, Its everyones excuse now. Covid! It takes 3 weeks to put that motor on a fedex truck! Then fedex screws it up with another week and a half. So im in this for over a month now! Motor finally shows up... I unwrap it to check for damage. Its not even the motor i ordered! In fact, its not the right motor at all! That and its beat to hell! They crated it so bad that it had probably fallen over during transport. The worst part is how they took this thing out of whatever god forsaken vehicle it came from. They did not give a damn! They torched it off, burnt wires all over, just cut everything... did they bother to clean it up?. Nope! Which means they didnt test it, they couldnt have! It came from the bottom of the lake! Their customer service from then on was nothing but transferring me to some ladies house that politely asked me to stop calling, hanging up on me, or just piucking up the phone and putting it right back down! Finally got Sanchito on the phone and he basically told me to go f**k myself. I screamed refund over him and that was about the end of it. Im already disputing the charges... this isnt going to go well

Purchased an engine at the end of May on the 23rd and its now 2 days away from March. Suppose to be 1-2 weeks to ship out but going on close to 2 months now.
SW engines customer service team can never get me connected with a manager Stephen or Bill Jones. Sw engines says that this order has been escalated to shipping manager Stephan or Steven (everyone says this name different) and there isn't anything else they can do other than wait for a response from shipping company. When they do transfer me to the shipping manager number, its always full and not able to leave a message. I have called about 5-15 times daily for the past 2 weeks for the shipping manager that SW engines says is handling my order. Turns out SW engines shipping manager is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT company called Premium parts and solutions.
I was finally able to get a hold of someone last Friday 21st of April who told me that the engine was stocked in warehouse due to engine leaking on pallet and was never updated or informed management team. They said that it would be shipped out Monday 24th of April, but never heard back or updated with tracking. Finally someone got back to my email on Wednesday 26th with a tracking, only to find out that the shipping company Dayton Freight has no information regarding that tracking number or information from a shipment coming from SW engines/Premium Parts Solutions.
(( SW engines has not once reached out with an update for me during my entire month and a week long wait for my order. They never helped pursuing any answers to help in any way. These company keep passing the problem baton to someone else and it a circle that returns you back to the same people...))
I can't express this enough, this company will be a major headache for anyone looking to purchase any auto parts. If something happens to your order, there will be NO help for you with the SW engines.
On the verge of requesting a refund and maybe taking further actions. I was strung along for far too long and my patience has eroded away with them.
SWEngines has a rating of 1.1 stars from 114 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with SWEngines most frequently mention customer service, business days and warranty department. SWEngines ranks 787th among Auto Parts sites.
