I own a 2007 Ford Super Duty 6.0 Diesel. Unfortunately the motor sucked a lifter, and was a total loss.
After trying to find a local engine, I started searching the internet. Some how these guys come up "Clean" unless you start digging, which I didn't do.
I pay $4200 for a 2007 6.0 Diesel with 105K miles. As every one else has experienced, it took way longer than I was told. I order the motor on May 8th 2023.
Because my CC has an Az address, they had to send the motor to Az (Truck is in Cali), so I had to spend an extra $250 to forward the motor to Cali. When I received the motor, it was a 2004. My mechanic, who happens to be ASME Ford Certified for 6.0 motors, said it will not work without a lot of changes including the wiring harness.
I contacted SWEngines, and they tell me we will get back to you. After a week, they tell me its the same motor. I told them my invoice clearly says 2007 6.0 and its clearly a 2004. They exchange a few messages with me, then another guy by the name of Nick (Working for a Stephen Young) gets involved.
They send a bill of laden to have the 2004 motor picked up. After countless emails, I finally get a 2006 motor which is a drop in replacement. I received the replacement the first week of September. According to their warrantee, the motor has to be installed within 10 days after receipt. My mechanic's schedule was full until mid Sept, so needless to say the warrantee is void.
Once my mechanic started digging into the motor, there were lots of problems. It was installed, new fluids, then crank the motor over. Cranked a few times and hydrolocked, which took the starter out (My original one). After some investigation, they found two injectors that had been removed with defective o-rings and missing copper crush washers. There is no way this motor was running when it was pulled. It appears someone pulled 2 of the original injectors to sell to some one. When the motor was dispatched to ship, they dropped in other injectors, which no way would have functioned with the bad/missing gaskets.
The bad injectors filled up the crankcase with Diesel fuel, which means the fluids and the filters had to be changed.
All said and done, it cost me an extra $1653 to get the motor functioning over and above my original quote for the install. My mechanic also told me to change the oil one more time after about 1000 miles due to the possibility of fuel still in the crankcase. Just parts to change my oil is about $160 (Synthetic oil, stiction additive, and after market filter)
Oh lets not forget they shipped the replacement motor to Az again even after giving them an California address, and there goes another $250
I have sent a few emails to SWEngines, and of course to response. Next step is to contact the local Wisconsin Consumer Protection agency
