The site was easy to use and was able to purchase my flight at a much lower rate than I would have using other sites. As a college student trying to save up for my trip, I really appreciate this site. Even with all the fees with seats and baggage/flight coverage, the overall total was still lower than it would have been buying from Delta or Expedia etc.
Before I booked, the site said there was no charge for checked bags. After I paid for the reservation, I found out there was a significant charge to add a checked bag AND I had to pay to guarantee seat assignments. This raised the cost of my trip by about $200. I would not have used this site if I had known that.

I was very delighted to have my flight tickets booked using StudentUniverse. Their checking in service was very easy to use. All notifications about the flights were sent to me on time and with helping suggestions. Will use StudentUniverse for my future trips as well.
Have been using StudentUniverse since I was a college student. For so many times, it helps me save money on flight booking due to flexible date options. It is one of my go to website for flight booking.
We made two bookings with StudentUniverse, one from LAX to NCE and one from NRT to LAX... for some reason the first booking has our names listed correctly amd the second suddenly shows my wife's middle name as mine as well. Not a big deal you'd think, however, after submitting our passport pictures there's the initial conversation about additional fees for removing that middle name, both from the airline AND StudentUniverse: $90 in total which is ridiculous for a booking that's over 6 months away. More to follow on this but be cautious.
I have booked a ticket from sfo to London and my luggage cost isn't even included in my flight ticket. This is really frustrating as no information is provided about this during the booking and do you expect your traveler to travel such a long flight with 0 bags? This is so annoying. Upon that no end-to-end assistance is provided I was asked to contact the airline for making this purchase and to ask about carrying on bag. I have booked a round flight and do you really want me to call 2 different airlines to ask about my luggage?
Hi, sorry you felt this way. When customers perform a flight search, they will see the flight details as well as the baggage on our search result page. When customers click the button of baggage, they will see the prices of 1st and 2nd checked bags. We also provide a link to the airline's website so customers can check the pricing directly on there too. If customers miss that info, on the next page, the checkout page, we also display baggage info under important flight information session. The pricing and policy of baggage are determined by the airlines, so unfortunately, StudentUniverse cannot decide whether they should be free or not. There is only one airline responsible for your return flight, so you don't have to ask two different airlines; you can also check the info on the airline's website. Thanks.
Excellent, but baggage limit was little less. I came from Dhaka to Oslo via Doha on 9 August. It was my first plane journey, first visit outside my country. I am a postgraduate student at University of southeastern Norway in the city named Porsgrunn.
Student Universe is always my first place to look when booking a flight whether for conferences, vacation, or going home. Since I was told about it in 2014, I have lost count of how many flights I have booked with them. As a graduate student, I really appreciate the deals. Sometimes the discount has been enough to compete with car rental. While there aren't as many options, if you can be flexible on time, this is definitely worth it.

I got a bit skeptical on the reviews posted recently but when you start going through the details its a bit different in terms of nature of complains e.g. flight changes, website not loading etc.
I booked my flight much cheaper than directly with SaaS and afterwards I logged in SaaS and all was in order.
One advice - if you are sure of your travel plans, go for it as normally cheap deals are subject to no refund in case you change your mind.

I attempted to change a flight and gave them 5 possible days to change it to. They were completely unhelpful and told me that there was no availability during any of those 5 days even though they had switched my flight on me already in October. They purchase very few flights and have no relationship with the airlines they work with. I will never use their service again because a marginally cheaper flight is not worth booking with an organization that is completely incompetent and inflexible. On top of all of that, they were trying to charge an additional $100 fee on top of what I would already have to pay to the airline for StudentUniverse if they were actually able to change my flight.
I was surprised that I couldn't have instant confirmation and heard it might take 3 days. Also, the agent, although good English language, had a think accent, like a large dog talking... deep and very mumbled/muffled.
Hey, when a booking is successful, confirmation email will be sent with reservation codes. E-ticket number will appear later within a week or so, but no longer than 7 days prior to departure. And, sorry you disliked the English language from our agent.
First time experience. Smooth but was taken aback when i received a call to confirm details of my credit card, Given the current cyber fraud I was reluctant and had to give in when i was threatened with cancellation. Can you find a better way to confirm booking without requesting for such details?

When you are a student, you are looking for cheap flights with baggage allowance. As a student, I bought a ticket from the student universe website. First, they do not have a refund option. Second, they do not specify the baggage allowance on their e-ticket. On the ticket, they have a link to go to the website of the airline. Which I did and I saw 38 kg at first, then at the last minute 0 bag allowance. I called their customer service. To my surprise, they responded it is our policy and you had to pay attention when you bought the ticket. We do not specify the baggage allowance and we do not have a refund option. I paid 662 £ for my baggage. The airline also did not change the 0 to the regular since they cannot change it.
Interestingly the last-minute regular ticket with baggage allowance was cheaper than the student universe ticket that I bought two weeks earlier. It is a scam. Be careful.

At the checkout page, we display baggage allowance information again. StudentUniverse cannot determine the baggage policy as it is set by the airlines. If customers would like to cancel the flight and request a refund, they can contact our customer service. Please note that prices are dynamic and may fluctuate in accordance with airline inventory, and it is possible that there are times when last-min flights might be cheaper. However, it is not always the case. Our fare update comes from the airline itself, which means if you book with the airline, interestingly the last-minute regular ticket with baggage allowance would be cheaper than the ticket that you bought two weeks earlier.
Went to china for a study abroad trip, this app offered the cheapest flights by far compared to anyone else, just make sure to sign up with your student ID, its cheap probably because of the layovers but honestly I didn't mind since I love getting off a plane to stretch my legs. I love that they offer insurance for an affordable price also. I'll probably purchase my future flights from student universe!
Terrible customer service. Terrible company. I booked a hotel reservation and canceled within an hour following their "24-hour cancellation policy". Never received my money back, not to mention customer service was rude, unhelpful, and their communication was so all over the place. This company claims to have good rates for students but all they really do is take advantage. If you really want to save money on a trip, stay away from them and save yourself the unnecessary headache and stress. Will never ever book with them again.

During my year abroad, I traveled all over Europe. Student Universe easiest app to use and best options and prices. What distinguishes Student Universe is how mishaps are handled. Met my twin in London for our birthday. We got there late at night and our guaranteed room had been given away -- the hotel vendor canceled as they noted that reservation was made by a student. The hotel was sold out. Student Universe made it right. We had to stay with a friend, but Student Universe secured a better hotel room for the rest of the trip and compensated us for the hassle. They were incredibly responsive. The following week they called both of us to check in and make sure all was good. Travel has many moving parts. Student Universe steps up with great service, even when you hit a bump in the road.
This is not my first purchase with StudentUniverse but they never cease to surprise me of how much I could save from each trip I took. And Kudos to the customer service team, they are really active and patience with my inquiries! A month ago I missed my transit flight at the Sydney airport, I was so desperate because I have to buy a new ticket that allow me to leave in a few hours, but the thing is, the e-ticket usually only email you 3-Days in advance. I was so anxious that my booked flight wasn't go through the airline, I immediately dialled the their customer support's AUS number. They did a really great job in patiently answer all my questions, after a few hours before my flight they sent me the e-ticket which really a big relief. Even after that I tried to buy another trip for my sister, I texted them on Messenger, the service is still fast. Wheww thank you! And right now I just bought another ticket at the lowest price I could find compare to other websites.

Hi Sean, your booking comes with two free bags but you added an additional bag which costs a fee. We never inform our customers that seat assisgnment must be paid; it is optional and you can always skip to proceed. Once you have a ticket with an airline, a seat will be guaranteed but unless you pick your seat, it would be randomly assigned by the airline. You would have to pay for your additional baggage per the airline's policy.
