My husband and I both buy all our games from it, as long as they're available in it. I have used Steam over ten years now, aside from the every now and then greed episodes the company gets or the occasional safety issues with steam trade I hear about, it has been a very good experience to me. Planning to use as long as it stands.
I've been a steam member for 5 years with mostly good experience. The only time I've been dissatisfied is when trying to reach customer service, often times I wouldnt receive a reply for 3-4 days which seems slow in the age of internet and all. Otherwise I love steam and their gaming platform. (wait for summer sales for buying games)
Ive never hard of this website and was charged $200 this morning. Luckily I check my account everyday, called my bank right away and they cancelled my debit card and are sending me a new one. How the hell did they get my info? Also it seems like this has been happening for a few years now and it hasn't stopped,. WTF! This is scary $#*! and really pisses me off. I feel like this could happen again!
This is the worst company I have ever encountered in regard to customer/tech support. It took 27 days for them to acknowledge and respond to 3 emails from myself and Paypal. Paypal also was unable to contact them over the pending issue. During that period I was denied access to a reduced price game add-on, that opportunity expired during that 27 day period. I did get one response during that period, I was told to 'be patient'. The issue stemmed from a purchase I made and then cancelled, all within a 10 minute period. I realized that I had made a mistake and rectified it thru Paypal within 10 minutes. However, Steam refused to look into the matter for 27 days. In the meantime my account was frozen and locked.
Love this store. Offers the very best of everything all in one place and their sales are really AMAZING! Best time is to stock up during their summer sale on some of the games you've been wanting to get.
I started getting charges $100 at a time from them but I have never heard of them until I looked at my pending charges. 3 charges one day, each for $100.00.
There doesn't appear, in their website, to have any phone numbers to contact them about these fraudelent charges. Going to have to cancel my credit card so they can not get access to my money.
If I had a choice of negative stars, I would give them a negative 100 for being a SCAMMER trying to steal money from credit card information they purchased on the black market.
Steam has always been reliable for having good games by independent game makers. This is one of the things I love about them, but the games they offer from bigger companies are good too. Good source for great games :)
I've used Steam for years to buy and play games. I've tried other launchers, but I always went back to Steam. I love the non-game features that other similar game launchers just don't have such as achievements. Achievements give another reason to replay a game that I might otherwise never look at again. Trying to collect them all can be fun in itself.
There are some reviews stating that they got fraudulent charges on their credit cards from Steam while they never used the site. I can say with almost certainty that these charges are not the fault of Steam itself, but scammers who trade in Steam games and keys.
They go to grey market sites and sell games for below their market price. They add the buyer on Steam, then "gift" them the game using your card. The buyer of said game will be the one out of pocket when you make the charge backs to your credit card after Steam revokes the game from their account. But they know the risks when they buy on the grey market, so no need to feel sorry for them. The scammer will have gotten away with their cash though. And you get your money back via changeback. This is what happens in most of those cases.
They have competitive prices and run lots of sales on different games regularly. Just create an account and start buying and playing games. All games are linked to your account so you never lose your games. Unless you lose your account login information. Butt it is easily recoverable. I have yet to deal with their customer service Kama so I am unable to comment on that aspect.
I had no idea who this company is and certainly did not authorize the hundreds of $$$ they tried to steal from my account. One charge of $170 went through but the other $100 charges were kicked back. I spoke with my bank who had put a block on my card and have filed a claim on the $170. Now I'm being sent a new card. Cyber thievery at its most nefarious. I ate at a Chinese restaurant last night and sometime between then and this morning is when the fraudulent charges occured. I can't help thinking now that this FRAUD and the restaurant are connected. I'm digging deep to find out more. Thank God for my bank being on the alert for this or I'd have been wiped out.
I've bought many top games like Final Fantasy 15, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter World, etc, from steam at 70 % off prices. I love steam. There were a few times I bought games I've never heard of to try them out. Ended up that I didn't like playing them and they weren't fun. I was only about two hours into those game(s). Steam, gave me a full refund within two hours for the games I didn't like. They are reliable and responsible. I highly recommend them!
If you game on a PC then you basically need Steam. Simple to set up, with the possibilityfor 2-step verification. They have fantastic regular sales, with a huge library of available games and software. The client is very unobtrusive, and you can change all of your alert settings to your preferences. The built-in mod community also makes adding to many games a really straightforward process. Moving games between drives can be a bit of a hassle, but the built-in community forums are actually really useful.
Both the Steam website and the Steam app on your computer from which one runs all the games bought through Steam are outstanding. Since I play higher end PC RPG video games, having a platform that allows me to buy them, play them, and mod them without the hassle of putting in a disk and figuring out where the mod files need to be placed, is awesome. If you buy a game on disk that is part of steam you can add it to the account and run it through the system. The online component (interacting and sharing with friends, sharing videos and screenshots, and having a powerful chat feature) add even more value to this product.
On top of all of that, you can share your game and program library with other computers so when you are not playing the game, your friends can play it. I am also impressed by the number of companies that use Steam to sell their games. I also have Origin by EA, but it is not nearly as powerful or diverse as Steam.
I'm currently a full time uni student with no work on Centrelink I already do not have enough money to pay for my text books and you have charged me 3 x $160 transactions. My bank account has gone negative and I'm having to pay $30 a week until it isn't negative again. I really hope you make the most of my money you scums because you've really screwed up my account
Just bought a pc game - second hand - from an amazon seller - and it won't work because the activation code can only be used once. Didn't know that before - so be careful when buying second hand games for the pc - most won't work.
I love Steam. There is always a new (or old) game for me to find to play. Lots of free to play games as well as ones you do pay for. Their sales (summer, winter, etc) tend to have something from my wishlist. I also love how many games have bundles available, bringing down the overall price if you buy a pack/collection.
My bank account got hacked for $300. Never heard of this company. They tried 3 times and the last on try it went through, had to close my account and start again and now waiting for the bank to reimburse me. I see I'm far from the only person this has happened to. This needs to stop.
My son loves Steam but beware if you buy something online. Make sure it doesn't save your payment information because we got charge for something my son was I my looking at with no further authorization needed... no bueno!
Like many reviews here I recently had my bank reach out to verify if I had purchased $100 on steam games. I have never heard of them before, and just as many others here had to cancel my card. Very irritating when you're on vacation to say the least!
These people or heartless! We have children to buy for and they illegally took separate $100.00 charges off our card until we were wiped out. We cancelled our card and we are hoping they don't get a cent. People like you suck and one day you will have to pay some people work hard for their money unlike criminals like you!
Answer: I have been using steam for 5 years and it is a very smooth expirience
