I really enjoy Spirit Air, I see not so good comments here, but you have to be conscious that in order to have the lowest fares out there there has to be a way for an airline to generate profit through add-ons. I think it is a great fun airline if you are a solo traveler, flying with no bags or really requirements as far as seating arrangements. If you are traveling with family, yes the cost adds on, but at the end you end up paying a bit lower than with other airlines. I really love the fact that their website is so easy to navigate and it is not overwhelming.
Spirit's website is in line with their service - unreliable, terrible and anxiety inducing. You are unable to sign into the website half the time because there's some error when you're booking. The workflow breaks with no warning causing you to lose that booking.
As a respite, you can book through flights.google.com directly but would you want to put your money with an airline company that has no support when something goes wrong? Their fee for one check-in bag is $90 and carry-on is $110!
I suggest, paying the extra money and booking somewhere else instead of jeopardizing your entire reservation when an issue arises.
I recently flew spirit for the first time and I have to say for the price I paid the flight experience was not bad at all. Seats are uncomfortable. But as long as you know you are getting the best possible price and you know you can't expect high commodities I highly recommend then.
Spirit has a bad customer service. I had vouchers because they messed up. I extended them once and then I got ill and ended up in the hospital on ICU and my stay was for 12 days. I called towns day and they would not help me. I have all the hospital papers to prove it. Never flying them again. Can not believe no one tries to help!
I have flown and had issues. My brother flew a couple months ago, 3 hours late. In the last 3 months, EVERY flight my family has taken - with an infant in tow, they have either delayed the flight by hours, or completely canceled them.
Flight 1131 is currently sitting in Orlando - and already 2 1/2 hours LATE just LEAVING the airport. This after yesterday's fiasco of an hour on the tarmac and ultimate cancellation of the flight yesterday. Again, we had an infant who is being cared for by my 68 year sister.
Citizens pay hard earned money for in kind goods and services. The inconvenience and lack of communication is just not worth it. In my opinion, this airlines is a disaster waiting to happen at 34,000 feet. We won't be using them in the future.
Just got word, today's flight is just taking off - an hour late.
I book a vacation package with them including car, flight and hotel and also a travel insurance that cover my entire trip. I cancel it in less that's 24 hours because it was a business trip and it got canceled. They made you think that you are getting a package with them but is not. Everything is separately through Priceline. They didn't want to refund me but to give a credit, even with the insurance that we purchased. What a mess, what an experience. Had to call many places and even do a chat with them in the computer. A nightmare spend a total of 3 and half hours to resolve this. Go somewhere else. Jetblue is great never had issues, Alaska airline also.
Items where stolen out of my luggage. They never said my luggage was inspected by TSA. I contact customer to get help amd told me I had to leave a complaint through email. And guess what no response yet. The worse customer service ever! I lost $300 from the items that were lost!
Made me pay another $80 for a miniature carry on because I also had a purse. Additionally, the bag check lady was very rude and unhelpful when I was trying to be nice and needed assistance.
Flying Spirit is a necessary evil for someone who flies often however sometimes it's just not worth it. The Customer Service Line always has a long waiting time. If you have a handicap, you need to call for your seat assignment and you're always transferred several times before you get anyone who can take care of you. They put zero effort into making things right. On a past flight, I was sitting in the back of the plane because the seat assignment was NOT done correctly. I was then tortured by the unaccompanied minors sitting behind me. This airlines charges extra funds for unaccompanied minors and then doesn't supervise them. When I called to complain they offered no support.
I am deeply dismayed by my experience with this airline, which left me feeling like a victim of racism.
This airline is by far the worst I've encountered, where you have to pay for everything, and the service is abysmal.
I had a cabin trolley bag and a laptop bag, both weighing under 7 kgs. When I opted for a preferred seat with extra leg space at the baggage drop, they charged me for the seat but conveniently failed to inform me about the additional baggage fees.
To my shock, during boarding, I was singled out and forced to pay an additional $99 for my bags. When I tried to explain my situation, they callously threatened to bump me to a flight 25 hours later.
This ordeal took place at the Phoenix Arizona airport, and the staff's behavior was not only unprofessional but also offensive. They made it clear that they were judging me based on my skin color and held me solely responsible for my situation.
I've endured countless unnecessary security checks and frisks at various U.S. airports as an Indian traveler, even when my fellow passengers were never subjected to the same treatment. However, this experience was the last straw, especially considering the significant amount of money I had spent.
I deeply regret ever placing my trust in this airline. They nickel and dime you for everything, from food and water to seats and baggage, including cabin luggage. To make matters worse, none of their seats even recline on longer flights
I was apart of the fiasco that took place on August 1,2021-August 2,2021. Never told why our flight was delayed. Continued to push it back until almost 1 in the morning when the flight was supposed to be at 4 p.m. Many people left stranded at the airport with no answers. Many people forced to sleep in the airport after being there the entire day. Customer Service desk not willing to help. Almost a 3 hour wait to reschedule. Ended up booking with another airline. DO NOT BOOK SPIRIT.
Really very bad cancellation policy... please don't use the spirit airlines if you want to make any modifications to your ticket and also customer service was very very rude. I can say waste of money to spend
Terrible customer service, money hunger, over priced airline. You have to pay for everything... including ur carry on... not even water is free. You have to check in online or get charged to check in at the airline... cancel and delay flights. Don't give refund. Just terrible! Do not use! EVER!
Every time I fly on spirit it's an adventure. Flight times are rarely on time leaving me stuck in an airport with nothing to do for hours. The last flight was delayed 5 hours. As a nice gesture they did send a $50.00 credit that expires in 60 days! Doubt that will ever get used. I also signed up for their credit card luring me in with 15,000 miles for travel. After adding miles through all my travels I wanted to use them but the total wasn't enough for an 1,100 mile trip, their solution: buy more miles plus *add'l cash*! More than the original price! Extremely a no frills airline with pay for everything agenda. Search well before you fly Spirit. Oh yeah uncomfortable seating, really crammed it there.
Took a flight to Vegas this past weekend, where the flight was booked as part of a package through Vegas.com that included hotel. Price seemed pretty good until we got to the airport and it cost us an extra $55 per carry-on bag each way. Just lucky we didn't have to check them at the gate - the price goes up to $65 each bag there.
Ultimately we ended up paying the equivalent cost of 2 extra tickets to bring our carry-on luggage with us. Bear in mind, there are no perks to flying Spirit either - there are no complimentary snacks or drinks.
The fold-out trays on the flight into Vegas were micro-trays, about 1/2 the size of a standard one. The pockets on the back of the seats were a single bungee cord. The flight back was a slightly better plane, as there were full sized trays and real pockets that time around.
TLDR: Large hidden fees and a major lack of value. Doubtful we'll ever fly this airline again.
This airline is the most expensive we have used. Don't let them fool you with the low fare ads. Not the airline to use for a family. They want you to purchase your seats to sit together.
That is why kids seem unsupervised on the plane. They scatter children throughout the plane. Away from the parents. I know because I just called about our seats which are scattered through the plane. They would not even switch my children's seats so they could sit together. Wait til something happens to a child on this airline. Then somwthing might be done about it.
I do believe all of the negative reviews about customer service and flight delays. The website is super kloogy, really bulky to use but designed so they can nickel and dime you at every possible turn. I only use them if the fare is so incredibly cheap that I can't turn it down, and if it isn't a long flight, so there isn't as much time to have a negative experience. I usually try to go to sleep before takeoff and stay that way til we land. I always travel with them with no expectations whatsoever, and so I'm never disappointed.
First they charge you for everything check in
Or carry on it bag it means you cannot even carry ur pocket book, second they sell everything inside
The plane it
Means if you dying for water u have to pay to drink sink water very bad airlines I don't recommended for nobody you think is
Cheap but they rip you with other things even seat to sit you have to pay.
3 cancellations in less than 12 hrs. Horrible customer service. Charged an extra $290 for rescheduling a cancelled flight. The mo ey was to be refunded was never recieved, and we were told once their system said processed they were no longer responsible. Not to mention the 250 paid for baggage we couldnt be refunded for the flight we never took. Would never recommend this airline
I recently got stranded at MCO Orlando Airport with a connecting flight getting cancled. Cheap filght might be a good thing for some and if all goes well Great. But when something goes wrong dont look to spirt to be able to really do anything. I understand that some things like Dense fog at the final destination is not really in their control but they don't really offer anything to help you get there. They auto rebooked me for a flight 3 days later but what the *** am I supposed to do with that. I had to rebook the next day flight on another airline. I tired to do many options like getting a rental car and drive the rest but MCO did not have any one way rentals avalible I also asked to fly to another Airport closer to my destination so it would be a shorter drive but nothing was coming of it. They don't offer to cover a hotel for the night either you are just on your own left stranded.
