The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to poor customer service and escalating costs. While some users acknowledge stable service performance at times, many express frustration with frequent outages, billing inconsistencies, and unresponsive support. Common complaints include difficulties in service cancellations, lack of transparency regarding equipment ownership, and inadequate resolution of issues. The sentiment is largely negative, with customers feeling undervalued and misled. This feedback indicates a pressing need for the company to improve its customer service practices and address billing transparency to enhance customer satisfaction.

Customer service representative came to our home as cold call. He went on about how great they are no outages and service was top notch!? Well we wish we had never changed there is so many outages and system failures I want to disconnect everything and throw it threw there window. Absolutely hate this DVR hard to navigate can't watch something else while it's recording DVR LOCKS UP! Have to power everything off then takes hours to pull up programming again because it's reset. Sorry I could go on for hours how bad I hate this system.
$150.00 a month. Grey screen when changing channels. Lasts for 10+ minutes. Sometimes black screen on channels that I am supposed to get. The channels I dont get, pop right up with the "pay more to get this channel!" Message. No problem with that channel coming in. Back to the channel I pay for, NOTHING!. Call customer service. " maybe its your fault, try tightening the cable into the receiver stupid consumer".
I had cablevision for 20+ years in new york. Honestly can not recall any more than 3 issues in that entire time. Now $150/ month gets me at least 1 issue of complete disfunction with spectrum service. Internet not functioning, no channels. Always my fault. My brand new phone or computer must be the issue, even though nothing is getting service in the house. Lost service for 4 hours one day, then 3 hours later that week. I demanded to get refunded for that time. Go figure, they dont think they owe me for that time. Spectrum is a lie. All the advertising is a lie!
Hopefully they go out of business when North Carolina enters the 21st century and fiber optic becomes available.
Spectrum sucks across the entire business SPECTRUM!
Unless you are willing to pay a 200+ bill and have all the services you get nothing! All I have is internet, i was transferred from TWC since that happened... OMG Spectrum does not offer the same package I was told, so they are trying to make it miserable so I increase.
If you are paying for service you ahould get a consistant amount of what you pay for! I will now try another service. I believe it is a monopoly just like all the other industries that have figured out how to skim and provide nothing!
I have always have a problem with Spectrum, there customer service is beyond terrible and they are always so rude whenever there is even the smallest problem. I am recently moving and they told me they were going to cut off my service early or charge me $70 for the whole month just to use it for 3 additional days! I'm so glad I'm moving and don't have to deal with them anymore!
Thursday afternoon at 3:00 and 3 people working to handle 28 customers waiting
Poor customer service.
Spectrum has gone up in price and down in quality dramatically since they took over bright house. Their customer service is atrocious. Who ever owns this company should be truly ashamed of the way it is ran. Our internet is $70 for 100mbps and generally only runs at 48mbps which they say is "normal" the past two months our internet hasn't worked for 90% of the time and i called repeatedly and had 3 different people out to try to fix it. I called today for a 2 month credit and they had the audacity to tell me I was lying and it couldn't have been going out that often or they would be able to see it. They claim that I only called a handful of times over the last two weeks and that they are only willing to credit $30 to my account. I told him being in customer service myself, he should be willing to help the customer make things right in anyway possible and being such a loyal customer for so many years I should have the courtesy of a two month credit. He is a supervisor and told me repeatedly that he could never take a customers word for it and is not willing to "make things right" based solely off of my word. I have every intention of canceling spectrum this week and moving over to WOW who is offering 500mbps for $45/month. Spectrum, because of your truly poor and disrespectful customer service you have now lost a long time customer and losing out on yet another $70 a month.
I was guaranteed easy self installation, I knew spectrum is difficult so I called multiple times before I needed service to start to make sure I had everything I needed. With no surprise, my modem wouldn't work. I called and waited 30 min for a representative to help me. HIS COMPUTER FROZE ON HIM, and he hung up on me... so I called again and waited another 30 min to schedule a technician to come out in four days... spectrum is absolutely horrible. If they weren't the only service available there is not a chance they would still be in business. This is not the first time I've gone through this, it is a pattern and they are absolutely trash service. If you can chose anything other service, do it.
Sincerely,
Paying a lot for alittle
I've been dealing with them for 4 days with no direct answers. 3 weeks ago, the first attempt to get internet service, the technician never showed and no courtesy call to inform so. When I called they gave me 2 days later with no guarantee they would show, so I just cancelled. Who can keep making time out of their schedules for maybes? I call 4 days ago, get the self install because of the issues with technicians and it arrives Saturday. I get it all set up, no service. I call, only to find out the previous tenant had a no pay disconnect so the lines were not live. They schedule an appointment for tomorrow between 1-2p that I told them I couldn't do due to work and not trusting a technician to show up, not making calling off work beneficial. Why should I lose pay for a maybe? They put a fast ticket in for dispatch to call me within the hour. They don't. Call again, same spiel. They dont call again. Fast forward 2 days to today, it happens again. Call back, same spiel same information except more irritated and no patience. Keep getting told they can put a ticket in, I explain well that's happened 3 times now who can I speak to that can actually do something? Apparently no one but we can schedule a time for someone to come out 3 days from now. Mind you they already took the money out for the 1st month and by the time, if they show up, it gets installed, itll be a week later. While trying to talk to billing and see if I can get money back for all this bull$#*!, dispatch finally calls. They give me the same bull$#*!, set up an appointment for 2 days after the initial install for later. I ask is it guaranteed? They tell me no it's not. Things happen people call in get sick so I cant guarantee. I tell her well that's the point of an appointment and clearly with an appointment later in the day you know way beforehand if your shorthanded. Response was well were human things happen. Well I'm human too and have to keep making changes to fit maybes in. I guess I'm not human enough to matter. $#*! me right?
Don't get Spectrum. Total RIPOFF! I was billed for my final month of service although I only used one week. Mind u my monthly bill was around $230. Spoke with supervisor & they would not credit the 3 weeks of service I DIDN'T use. Plus their customer service SUCKS!
I got behind because of an unexpected bill. Ever since I have been OVERPAYING my past due amount and all I've received is harassing phone calls, condescending customer reps, and after I have told three different people I get paid the 22nd and plan on OVERPAYING my past due amount like I always do, they tell me I can turn in my equipment to the nearest spectrum store if I don't want it. I requested to speak with the manager after being hung up on/no one willing to work with me despite my OVERPAYING every single time. I was told I'll get a call in 72hours. I just paid $150 when my past due amount was $114. I've told several people I plan on paying as soon as I get paid. No one cares. They are just another greedy corporation
Spectrum bundle is a RIP off especially if you are not familiar with how it works when you initially subscribe. I was given promotions at the beginning and after a year I wanted to remove them but my monthly payment would have been more.
I was told because this is what I initially started out with I couldn't go back to Basic Cable and internet service that if I remove my phone it would be more. That if I started with just basic Cable and Internet that I could go back with no problem and could keep my payments under $100.
Spectrum takes advantage of their customers.
I feel sorry for the elder people especially if they are on a fixed income and have to buy medicine.
Everyone, watch out for Spectrum Cable company (formerly Charter Cable). They are going out of their way to gouge their customers through small print policy changes without ever mentioning them on the phone or email. Our final example: when our daughter canceled her cable on July 26, she was told that she wouldn't have an August bill. However, she was then charged $187 because they don't prorate anymore. So even though her cable was turned off on July 26, she had to pay through August 19. Not once was she ever informed that they would keep her cable on through August 19th because she had to pay for it anyway. This is corporate greed at its worst! Don't use Spectrum Cable Company - consider yourself warned.
Sales person comes out to my home offers me a great deal so of course I switch. The sales rep quoted me one price and said then on top of that about 20 dollars more for taxes and fees, not even close he even wrote all this on my paperwork. Then I get my first bill and it's almost double what he quoted me. I call Customer Service and they say oh thats the best we can do. Then I talk to the supervisor who gives me the same ridiculous response. Clearly they allow their sales people to lie to get business. This is why I stopped doing business with them years ago when they went under the name Brighthouse, the name changed but the same shady business practices remain. New name same poor service and billing issues. Only been 2 weeks and I already regret going back to them. I will be cancelling in the next couple days.
I was told they were sending me a free phone for signing up for internet. Ended up being charged for home phone line which I didn't ask for, also charged $300 for the "free phone", then charged monthly fee for I-phone which I didn't need, already have one with another phone service. They said I signed for the package when it arrived which I didn't. I walked out the door and it was laying on my front step. Then said if I hadn't wanted the phone I should have sent it back within 30 days. I was not told that. I was told it was free. VERY crooked company. Only interested in getting money even if they have to lie to customers to get it. Stay away. Don't sign up or you will pay forever
Charter does this thing where they no longer prorate your bill. So if you go even one day into the next billing cycle when you disconnect, you are on the hook for the entire month's bill. I am now having to pay $138 for one day of service. ONE. DAY. I was not told when I disconnected that this would happen or I would have cut it off sooner. The internet connection was pretty good, and I had every intention of going back to them once I moved back into a service area. But now that's never going to happen. I hope that $138 was worth it.
There is no internet provider worse than Spectrum. Constantly the internet will go out, for 5 to 10 min spans, then come back on for a few minutes only to continue going in and out right when you are in the middle of something. Directly connected via ethernet cable vs wifi, makes no difference. Buy a brand new modem and router? The connection will still drop, even though Spectrum will blame your hardware. They will keep sending people out to tell you there is no problem, yet nothing will ever get fixed. If you have literally ANY OTHER CHOICE, go with that over Spectrum... I'm thinking about just switching to an unlimited 5g mobile plan and tethering my wifi devices to it over this BS Spectrum service. SHAMEFUL, CRIMINAL, THEY ARE STEALING FROM THIER CUSTOMERS WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
SPECTRUM ARE THIEVES.
If you can avoid spectrum by all means DO IT. Worst, absolutely THE worst company I've ever had to deal with, customer service is completely 180degreez from what Time Warner was,
Spectrum is heartless, makes things as difficult as it can for people, charges TOP DOLLAR for crap content, reruns & WAY too many commercials, no matter what channel, pixelated pictures, downtime, and don't forget to pay that Bill BEFORE it's due or they 1- put these stupid Message screens on TV, PC &2- make constant repeat, multiple phone calls thru out the day, even calling one time at 4 in the F'n MORNING
Thier management is THE absolute WORST, greedy, money grubbing POS, ever,
If you miss your due date, they turn EVERYTHING off, PHONE, TV, & Intrnt, & don't believe them when they say "OH it will come right back on when you pay", BS.
Takes days,{you go DAYS w/o PHONE}, requires tech visits to your house & they still don't know how to get the TV back on, have to make multiple calls to THIER tech center,& it still turns off AGAIN, before the tech leaves your driveway,
So you rush outside to catch him & FINALLY he does it right
STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM SPECTRUM AS YOU CAN!
They are the worst! Terrible service and even worse customer service. Zero desire to help you unless you threaten to shut off your services. Cost will increase while service decreases. Spent more time on the phone asking for services to be fixed than actually using services.
Ever since the Time Warner change I have not had a consistent day of internet usage. Constant down time and painfully slow speeds. Not only is the connection atrocious but it seems just about every month or even week my router will have a fit and just choose to not work AT ALL. We've had two different routers, each time a tech coming to "fix" the problem. (Spoiler alert, they don't do JACK)
Every time they tell us it should work and they fixed the problem but it ends up working for not even a day before problems arise again. We are paying for the service and yet we can't use it about 60% of the time. It's unbelievable. We just got a new router once again today and yes it did work better than it has in the past few years (Because we even started paying more for "faster speeds") but hours after the tech left it's been out all day. It's honestly embarrassing at how terrible this company is. THEE most consistently inconsistent POS service imaginable. Beyond angry at the terrible "service" they've provided. If there was an option for a rating lower than 1 star I'd assign that in a heartbeat.
You can't just change your name without changing your ways... Spectrum is no different than Time Warner Cable (just more expensive of course). We are constantly having issues with our service; I've never had to call customer service so many times when I lived elsewhere. The Spectrum app NEVER seems to work either and they tried to tell me it was an issue with my email HA! Good excuse. My email never fails and that doesn't even make sense. The price for basic cable and basic internet is outrageous! We've been begging for greenlight or VerizonFios to come our way for over a year!
Answer: They do not care about customer retention. That being said. I have to believe it is the poorest business model I have ever come in contact with.
Answer: They could give a shit - they create a monopoly in the area and do whatever they want - raise the rate, intimidate, and are very rude and no help to customers!
Answer: You're smart to stay with FIOS. Spectrum is the worst cable company around. They're very expensive and your bill will start creeping up every other month without any explanation. Avoid Spectrum!
