Their clothes are very pretty, but a lot of items are not available and back-ordered. Lately their quality is comparable to what Walmart has to offer. They have lost a customer.
I have shopped at SS since I first recieved the catalog; now the option for stores shopping is wonderful. Great quality, customer service, excellent fit and wonderful things for my home.
On new years day I ordered some clothing and a lamp for the living room. I ordered specific size (PL) and I received them in X-large and not petite. I opened up the box for the lamp and there was no hardware for the lamp to keep the fabric hat in hanged position. I guess i have to put the hat on top of bulb to burn out?! Please DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM SOFT SOUUROUNDING. THEY DON'T TRAIN THEIR PEOPLE AT ALL AND AS A RESULT WE GET WRONG MERCHANDISE AT OUR ADDRESS!
Would not take back pjs that shrunk 3 inches after hand wash 6 days after receiving and using a $50 guft card. Would not refund shipping which is exorbitant.
NEVER AGAIN. Bought my mother a shirt for mothers day and its now almost June and the shipping date continues to get pushed back further and further. I asked them what they were going to do to make this right and they said they wouldn't charge me for next day shipping. GEE THANKS. Get your act together! Don't bother buying from here. The next Catalog I get from them will get free SAME DAY SHIPPING TO THE TRASH CAN.
They have terrible customer service and shipping takes forever and they don't have correct information on their website. Don't buy from them. Clothes are cheap
Beautiful clothes... But twice now, I bought something I really liked, but the quality was unsatisfactory especially for what I paid for! Very disappointed!
I had ordered 3 pieces of clothing from Soft Surroundings back in November 2016. When the clothings arrived, I realized that they had sent in wrong sizes. So, I sent the products back requesting that they be exchanged for the right size. I was told that they only had 2 of the 3 items I ordered in the right size and what would I like to do. I asked that the 1 item be mailed to me, but to refund me for the remaining 2 items.
I paid total $370.93 for purchase of 3 items in one order; of which $32.18 was tax. I returned 2 of the 3 items totalling $158.90 and instead of getting $15.57 tax refund, I'm only received $8.15. I spoke to Customer Service and got nowhere with the Rep. I asked to speak with the Supervisor, who upon review, agreed that it did not make sense that I was receiving $8.15 in refund. He was going to process the right amount; which NEVER happened. I have sent several email and have asked for a resolution and got NO response in return. I recommend that folks be very weary of doing business with this company. They do not deal with their customers honestly.

I bought 2-130.00 dresses ( plus size Kara dress). They dont carry plus sizes in the store here, so I had them shipped free to the store, I ordered 2 diff sizes as wasnt sure as the size in 2 diff colors. 1 was too big, so I exchanged it at the store and they ordered the smaller size, Which I had to pay for AGAIN and wait for the return. In the meantime I wore the one I took one home and it grew as the day went by. So when my new order came in the store, I had them send it back for a even smaller size, and again HAD TO BUY another one and wait for the refund! Also when I went to pick my dress up on my lunch hour, I was told they didnt have it. I asked them to recheck to see if it was under my first name, I was told it wouldnt be under my first name, so I asked them again to check and was told there was nothing under my first name, so I left, called customer service, and later got a email telling me I did it to myself because I put my name backwards. She said it came last name, first name. I called the store, and again the lady I spoke with at the store reiterated that I did this. I said well I asked you 3 times to check first and last name, and you said you did. She laughed. They are snooty, Snarky and the 800 number is the same. I bought 2 dresses at 260.00. Now I have a extra $260.00 invested in exchanges and its been 9 days since the first exchange and no money returned to my card. The dress also has no care tag on it as to how to wash. I was told it was in the dress somewhere, When I challenged her to show me because i looked, she didnt even respond. I will never by from them again!
Ugh, I'm done with buying anything from Soft Surroundings. I've always thought their clothes were overpriced for the quality, and it really bugs me that they charge so much for shipping. I ordered a dress from their catalog recently, it took forever to arrive because they were having supply chain problems (I understand that, because of the pandemic) but when it came, it looked nothing like the picture in the catalog. The catalog version had vibrant colors and was obviously cinched in the back to make it look more fitted on the model. When the dress arrived, the colors were drab and it hung straight down with absolutely no form at all. It was truly ugly, and in the catalog it was beautiful. So knowing full well that they would charge me shipping to mail it back, I drove almost an hour to the nearest store to return it. I just now saw my email from them stating they received my return and they DEDUCTED $10 for an IN STORE return! What the heck?! So beware, YOU are going to be charged on both ends when you buy something from this store and heaven forbid you don't like it when you get it. Oh, by the way, even if you place an order from the store (I wear petites, they don't stock them in their stores) and have it sent to your home, they still charge you for shipping. Neither Talbots nor Macy's does that. Never again will I purchase from Soft Surroundings. I've bought a number of things from them over the years and its often annoyed me that they never have sales. I've seen the very same item appear in their catalog several years in a row, I don't know if it didn't sell well or not, but it is always listed at the very same price over and over. They never lower their price on an item that didn't sell well, they just keep putting it in the next year's catalog at the same price, until I guess, they finally get rid of it. I'm done buying from them, I just hate greed.
I will no longer purchase from Soft Surroundings. The reason is that they have a policy that prevents them from including a U.S. Post Office Box number in a shipping address and do not disclose that the default UPS shipping method delivers the item to a U.S. Post Office. The Post Office in my town is unable to deliver to my physical address. When I spoke to Soft Surroundings representative Mics, I was told that Soft Surroundings policy prohibited a shipping address that included a P.O. Box number, EVEN WITH a physical address. The Post Office would accept an address in the form of:

The item I purchased was a birthday gift for my wife. The refusal of Mics to problem solve, instead of stubbornly citing the policy of the company would not allow a US Post Office Box number to appear in an address has cost Soft Surroundings this customer.
As a suggestion for others, and for Soft Surroundings, the Soft Surroundings website should clearly state despite a UPS shipping method, UPS delivers to the nearest United States Post Office for delivery of the item AND that Soft Surroundings will not ship to any address containing a US Post Office Box number.
What a shame. Now, I am out a birthday gift for my wife. Thank goodness they refunded my money and cancelled my catalog subscription.

Only buy if you're absolutely sure you won't have to return. Shipping charges too high and they charge $7 more for the return shipping LABEL!

I love the items I have received from Soft Surrounds However they take orders on items they don't have then repeatedly send you delay notices, This has happened twice to me
I have two occasions where this store has failed miserably, The first was when i ordered close to 350.00 worth of clothes and i waited and waited and they never showed up, ( I was having guest in town and wanted new clothes to go out on the town) when i called they said there was a question about my credit card, I asked them why they never called me, said they sent an email, I checked my email and NOTHING! I tried Soft Surroundings again several months later and was not impressed with the quality at all, for what they charge it was pretty bad, when i called to send it back they acted as though I was not going to receive a refund, gave me a hard time, I couldn't believe the customer service, I never bothered to send it back it was given to a family member who could use it more than me getting hassled about sending it back, they still send there magazine but i will never purchase from them again, the reason I'm writing this review is I read On Glassdoor the reviews of the employees who work for Soft Surroundings and I was just shocked one bad review after another, poor employees are treated like dirt,, so I think people should shop elsewhere and don't give your money to companies who treat people like trash. Its a shame really cute photos but quality was disappointing,
Ive had very good luck with the clothing from Soft Surroundings. However, the price tags are high, bordering on too high.
This company has THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. My order was missing an item and when I called customer service, they refused to help me and told him it was the carrier's fault.
Answer: I would have said, forget it. Their service is very slow, both receiving and especially returning. Plus the shipping to you is high and then you pay a terrible amount to return it. I won't buy from them again. Linda.

Answer: There is obviously a valid reason that there are NO reviews of items on their website. And that's because the overwhelming satisfaction rate of most customers is horrible! Save your time and headache, and skip this company over.
