SCAMMERS. Do not use ShopSmarter they will find a way to claim your cashback is not eligible. Don't use them and stick to RAKUTEN, which is consistent, and you won't have any issues. Read the terms of service and terms of use link on their website. Not once was the 12.97 mentioned in the text. When i called to dispute the charge i was told that it was.
Found it in the faq page. Very misleading. Cost of the program should be included in terms of service section. All these complaints of being charged the membership fee may have been avoided. I cancelled my membership solely because of this omision not because of any negative response to a rebate request.

The details state that if you choose to continue using our site past your trial, you agree to the monthly membership fee. If you do not want to continue your membership, you must cancel your account within your trial period. I clicked a link when purchasing through bed bath and beyond offering $10 rebate. Signed up thinking it was bed bath and beyond, never thought of it again. 6 months later, i noticed a charge on my credit card. Apparently i have been paying for it for 6 months! I won't be shopping at bed bath and beyond anymore. They link their signup with purchases with legitimate online retailers so you're not even aware you signed up!

I was charged by this company for something I never signed up for. I do not make purchases online. Yet my bank alerted me last week for a charge of$9.97 which was declined. They tried to charge my card again this morning to another charge in the same amount. If this is a monthly charge and I agreeed with my bank it was fraudulent, why did they try again. SCAM. I had to cancel my card so these idiots can't try and get money from me again.

I paid membership fee every month. Today I checked my account and found all of my buying record disappear. So I called them and asked what happened to my account. They said I canceled the account. I ask I never canceled the account and your company keep charging me form my credit card. Then, I got email which said my account has been canceled! I know they just don't want to provide the cash back, so find an excuse. Be careful this website. Hope people who are cheated by this website work together and fight shopsmarter with Law.

Their website lists a bunch of stores you could get cash back from. Then after you sign up, those stores are no longer there anymore. I contacted customer service and they said they don't do cash back for all the stores I had interest in. However, the stores are STILL listed on their website prior to sign up.
This is incredibly misleading. They are fishing for customers. The stores for cashback simply do not exist with them. But you don't find out until after you sign up.
The customer service is not helpful and not knowledgable. None of them have been able to answer my questions unless they "ask a supervisor to escalate the problem" and say they will get back to me in 24-48 hours. They never get back to you by the way. I just keep contacting to talk to someone who could give me answers.
When I explain the situation, none of them care enough to make up for THEIR mistake. I would have never signed up if all the stores I purchase from are actually unavailable. What a cheap trick.

Never got the confirmation email BUT I didn't get charged any additional $ and I finally got the $10 rebate in the mail a few days ago... so no login, no confirmation email, no additional charges and almost 3 months to get the rebate -> looks like a scam, quack's like a scam... but if you follow the directions properly its honestly not a scam. Go figure...

I signed up to get my $10 rebate via Walmart and attempted to login THE NEXT DAY (11/29/2017) to cancel my membership. It told me there was no email associated so I called the number and the guy looked me up and said "ok you've cancelled. You should be getting the email shortly". I asked if i would still be getting the rebate and his reply was "you can" (wtf?). An hour later I still hadn't gotten the cancel confirmation so I called again (because I saw this site, read the reviews, and figured they might be scamming me). A new woman picked up and she said that I had already cancelled but her system was unable to send out an email to my email address (she said that it happens sometimes). She gave me the confirmation number but I'm going to call again today to ensure they send out that email so I can be sure they will not charge me
Scam! Most of the orders don't get registered. I had to submit a missing cashback request for most of my orders. The biggest amount cashback payouts disappear before the payoff date. Missing cashback requests take 8 weeks to get a denial email. This service offers 10% cashback but you only will get it for very few of the eligible orders. Other FREE cashback services are WAY more reliable.

He was moving out of town for few days and changed the address to mine so that he can get the check.
Shopsmarter canceled my membership and all my cash back saying its a violation.
And i was not able to reopen my account.

Super buggy platform that does not clarify or give you value at all. I saw the rebate banner on by Bed Bath & Beyond order so I clicked. The CTA didn't actually work or link anywhere on the first 3 emails from my Order Confirmation or Shipping Confirmation, so they clearly don't know how to do some simple dynamic components... From there, their platform makes you sign up, give your CC info (Sketchy?) and then send proof of the Order you just came from. Don't you know my order from the email you just promoted to me on? Then it charges you a monthly fee and won't give you the "Rebate" they promoted to you until the end of your first month of their "Membership". In this review did you just get confused about a membership? Yeah same on their website they don't mention it at all until you are signed up and paid? WTF?

Company is a complete scam. The moment they have to pay out they will find a reason to cancel your account without even telling you. In my experience they cancelled my account the same day they charged me for another month.
I had to reach out to them to ask why I couldn't get into my account and then they said I had made a bunch of purchases and they suspected I was a reseller. I quickly told them that I was buying for gifts for family and since the deals were buy two get one free I kind of had to buy a lot. They then took two weeks to tell me I violated their terms. They couldn't tell me what exact terms because I read through all of them and I didn't do anything to violate their terms.
Stay away from this company. They are thieves and scummy. I should have listened to all of the other bad reviews. They are all true. I had $300 in pending cash back that they stole. I will be contacting their affiliates to tell them they are defrauding customers. I will also be doing credit chargebacks. AWFUL COMPANY. WHAT A HEADACHE.
I did not sign up for this scam. Why are you taking money from my credit card each month? I would you to put the money back in my credit card account. Cancel my subscription an put my money back in my credit card account.
I signed up for the Shopsmarter.com service in March 2022. I received my first payment on time, but my account was closed with no explanation shortly after, voiding several hundreds of dollars in cashback. I have tried contacting customer service to find out what is going on, but the only choice is further escalation, upon which I never hear back during the 24-48 business hour time frame. The problem is that my account was in good standing, and I have already generated nearly $300, I believe, for April. It seems that this company canceled my account instead of paying out the cashback claims I have generated. I used this company as my exclusive online shopping portal, and now I am out my time and resources. I should have known it was too good to be true. I will be filling in small claims court against this company without recourse. BUYER BEWARE!

Last month i signed up for Shop Smarter after placing an online order with Walmart in order to receive a $10 rebate. I followed every instruction given to receive the rebate, but then quickly cancelled my account after reading all of the negative reviews for Shop Smarter. Yesterday (July 2nd), I received a $10 check in the mail, in spite of the fact that I no longer hold a Shop Smarter account. I don't really know how the system works but I actually did receive free money from them without even having an account which i think is awesome! Also, I was never charged anything when i did have the account because I cancelled within the trial period. Thank you Shop Smarter :)

They closed an old account of mine so I was forced to make a new one. So I did and made some purchases over Black Friday. Now they closed this account saying I cant have 2 accounts. Problem is they closed my old account and I have no access to that account so how the heck am I supposed to use an account that is closed? They stole all my cashback. Im convinced thats how this company makes their money. They steal peoples money. Stay far away because this is the second time I have had problems getting my money from these people.

If you wish to save money, this is not the way to go. Membership cost's make it difficult to actually save money. Just another "WOW" idea to collect people's money. Take your 12.95 a month X 2.5 million customers and you can have well over 32 million dollars rolling in each month. Someone's getting rich. Make all the money you can, wait a second what is the pirate's motto "TAKE ALL YOU CAN, GIVE NOTHING BACK."

They closed my account and didnt honor my earnings cause a made multiple purchases of the same item from walmart because they had a purchase limit of 2 per order and the claimed that buying multiple orders of the same item is against the terms and conditions of which they do not display on there site really upsetting
I have been a Shopsmarter customer for 4+ years. I have recommended at least 14 current customers to the platform because I truly thought that it was a great service. As I was shopping for the holidays, I purchased 5 higher ticket items for my close friends—each shipped directly to them. As part of the terms, all items purchased need to be sent directly to the buyer's (as registered with Shopsmarter) address. This was an honest mistake I made and I clarified as much. It's clearly understanble that because I didn't follow the guidelines these purchases would not be eligible for cashback—totally makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that because of this, my account was locked and deactivated, and cannot be reinstated. No warning. Nothing. I have had multiple conversations with customer (not-so-) support, and most of their responses were templated. I pushed further asking to speak with someone over the phone, but again fruitless.
What once was a great service, I can no longer endorse. Additionally, the cost per month is now 30% higher than it used to be, but the total max cashback is still the same. If you are a frequent online shopper, you may still find this service useful, but you have to spend about $1,800 online in order to just breakeven.
I signed up to get a $10 rebate on a purchase I made and thought I had to put my card info in to receive the rebate, but nope, it will be mailed to me which would be fine if they didn't also charge me $9.97 a few days later. I wasn't aware that this was a subscription service prior to signing up. If I had known that then I wouldn't have bothered. Also if I'm canceling on the same day or within a week, I should be refunded because that's what more legitimate businesses do but they make it clear on the cancellation page that you won't be getting any *future* charges. Load of bs
