The problem is they dupe unsuspecting bidders into thinking they are getting a very good deal by saving 80-95% off retail. In reality bidders are paying more than the item is actually worth.
Example: This morning someone was bidding on a sterling silver turquoise ring. The estimated retail value was $299.00 and bidding was up to $137.00
(This particular line of jewelry - Sante Fe Style is very popular with bidders). The estimated retail value is some ridiculous price assigned to a particular piece of jewelry to dupe you into believing your getting the deal of a lifetime.

I have also bought "sterling silver gemstone jewelry" that was not sterling silver nor real gemstones. Rings were a mystery metal and gemstones glass. I bought one opal ring where the "opal" was actually hardened plastic with glitter in it. But I have also bought genuine jewelry from them as well.
