Every time I get rewards. You take them without warning. Seriously. This is such BS and that is putting it politely. Before you would let one know if they were expiring.
Your reward system is GARBAGE.!

Time to go...

So much to say...I used to be a daily shopper at Safeway. Even tho they manipulate their prices daily and play a 'shell-game' with how they present themselves to the public as a responsible grocer. They are anything but.I was checking out and using my digital app for some coffee. It showed a discount, but not what was advertised in the isle. I brought this to their attention and the guy said it was my fault. After proving his ignorance, he proceeded to tell me that it was Safeway's faulty APP. It too, was an absolute lie. Safeway is rigged with deceptive business practice, that if you continue to shop there, you'll need to scrutinize every item rung through their corrupt system. There's plenty more to post with regard to their BS tactics, but more that I care to put the effort in mentioning.

I do like the quality!

My local Safeway has a Wells Fargo in it and that's extremely convenient for me. I do think they are a bit pricey, but they have beautiful produce. I also like the deli section as they have some items I'm unable to find elsewhere

It's a great delivery service, but when you order slabs of drink and a young lady who can barely lift the slabs arrives, I think, is wrong. Luckily I arrived in time to do it for her. Maybe allocate certain jobs for different drivers, maybe with trollies. Otherwise, a really speedy service.

Quit gouging shoppers with your high prices. No one eats your food because it's like dumpster diving. Safeway's food has always been terrible yet they continue to gouge shoppers. They are disgusting. Shop anywhere but here. Teach them a lesson by us hopping in better stores or ordering your food online. This has nothing to do with inflation and everything to do with a greedy corporation gouging shoppers. The nerve to charge these exorbitant prices for food that could be found in the dumpster. I only shopped here for cheap I can food but now they've raised the prices on that. What a greedy nasty company.

They frequently substitute stuff I didn't ask for. I do like that they finally added a substitution choice list and it's gotten better since then. They don't track their deliveries at all. When late and you go to the chat they say they're 'escalating' it and someone from the store will contact me and that never, EVER happens.

Title says it all. My groceries were supposed to be delivered between 3-4 pm. By 8:30, I had had enough waiting around and I cancelled the order. They inform me I have to wait 5 business days for a refund... I need that money now, to buy my groceries from someone else! Never again!

Grocery Shopping

Safeway has convenient locations with okay pricing. The app is a little tricky to use sometimes and I wish the sale price would just be automatic without having to click it in the app. Still like shopping at Safeway better than Walmart.

Safeway has always been good.

On youtube, these kids were tossing milk up on purpose in safeway stores. They thought it was funny, now they got charged. Safeway though what I read handled it right, didn't make a scene and were very professional.

What a pleasant Trip!

I had the same trip frm Toronto to Quebec few yrs ago but this time we had an excellent experience. Sandy, our tour guide was the best in all aspect. I highly recommend Safeway Tours to anyone planning to take the bus tour. Very professional staff, good choices of hotels & restaurant. Very clean & comfortable bus. For a corporate owned shop, it's actually nice to shop at the Ballard store. I never use self checkout so the cast is very friendly. The store is clean and organized and the guys in the deli and produce always like to help me if I cannot find what I am looking for. I shop there daily for lunch and the cashiers and I are getting to be on a first name basis. Always a friendly "Hi, how you doing today?" followed by a small to long conversation about everything and everything. I have even passed on to them some respices and cooking tips. Sadly it's seems to be a haven for thieves and homeless. It's like every time I am there someone at the front end is always catching someone trying to steal something. Yeah the prices are getting out of hand but thats everywhere you go these days.

THEY have FETCH Rewards now too. Go there to get your email receipts that Safeway has. GO FETCH your Rewards ( Fetch Rewards offers sales etc to get email credit for your order. You earn points. I got a case of bottled water free. Have $ off specials, fee products for points! Check out and look. It's free to look! I'm glad I stuck thru their growing pain problems! Delivery fee INCLUDES your tip to driver! You don't have to be there, & then if alcohol ordered you need anyone of age to be there!

I was shopping at the Safeway on 44th ave on Saturday 10/5/19 and tried to leave a review then but I couldn't get the site to work. I live in the neighborhood so I shop at this location often. I just have to say that Dominick has always been there to greet me me smiles and a warm conversation every time. He's always very helpful and he's so pleasant to everyone around him including customers and his staff. He makes an effort to make your shopping experience a good one. He really should be recognized more. He does a great job!

Bait and Switch

Safeway's regular prices are very high and stores are routinely out of stock of advertised specials. Safeway's website is slow to load, forces you to sign in repeatedly, and its rewards program isn't functioning. If Safeway is allowed to merge with Kroger, a bad situation will get worse, especially in markets like Denver where the two companies control most of the market. I complained that I couldn't browse my local ad and was told I'd be e-mailed when the problem was resolved; I never got that e-mail and a week later, my rewards account has been deactivated. I can't reset my password or establish a new account due to "technical problems". Very, very poor!

The Safeway app is poorly designed. It is difficult to load, locate, and edit discounts I have loaded onto my app. Why can't I delete old "For U" discounts and why can't I have all loaded discounts in my digital grocery cart? The poor design feels like it is purposely confusing and make me want to shop at a big box without all the confusing discounts.

Tired of getting tricked

Safeway now puts signs out showing the special price in big letters, and then put "digital coupon only" in tiny letters. This seems purposely deceptive and sucks! Tired of buying something because of good price and then getting home and finding out I paid twice as much. Safeway, you just lost a long time customer.

This review is of the (central) customer service, not the markets.

Customer service either by phone or their Web form is incredibly useless. Why they encourage such communication is a mystery, as I've found on each of several occasions that it's just about impossible to get any information or help in that manner. You will lose your time and gain nothing but frustration.

App not working

Went to Safeway to pick up some items. Notice sign says digital coupon applies. Couldn't open up the app in the store, went outside and still couldn't open up the app. Uninstall the app and reinstalled and still no app available. Ask cashier if they could override and give me the digital savings. They said they can't do that. Left my cart and going to Trader Joe's.😖

Delicatessen Services

I'm an avid Safeway shopper & The service of most Safeways from Maryland to Virginia is good.
The Delicatessen service is another subject... most seem not to be "customer helpful" trained.
Today... 1 SEP 2022, I purchased the chicken salad 12" sub from the Safeway on Sterling Blvd in Sterling VA, which I have done many times previously, and the sub has about 2 tablespoons of chicken salad on it and old lettuce which tastes bitter.
The customer service here is... i understand... The price went up but the value of the sandwich has gone... DOWN!
To me their subs and sandwiches were better than Subway... I always made it a point to go there.

Safeway Canton has a handful of excellent normal employees who do a great job and are decent people. But the company has a policy of hiring people who are mentally and emotionally challenged as part of a federal assistance program. And there have been some incidents of bizarre behavior like insulting customers and aggressively getting in their faces over nothing. Like not picking the "right" shopping cart when we come in the door, or some item if our clothing they don't like, etc. Sometimes we don't feel safe shopping there.
