Our dog sitter from Rover.com cancelled TWO days before our trip. He had already met us, met our dog, and learned the lay of the land. Then he cancelled TWO days before our trip. I wanted to leave a review about our sitter to warn potential clients of his unreliability and was NOT allowed to do so. Please be aware that the reviews do not paint the entire picture of the sitter.
I have taken in pets, one at a time, through ROVER for several years. Recently I took in a dog that had Matt's down to skin where he was bleeding, and his nails hadn't been cut in years. I use my own money to take him to a groomer, they cut the nails and had to pull them out of his feet where they were infected. They wrapped his feet and I explain the situation to the owner when they pick them up, at which time they gave me one star and ruinedmy four year long five star profile. I tried to explain this to ROVER, and they seem to only care about Making money – not about taking care of these animals. I immediately deleted my account and wish I had the influence to do more! Overall, they should be ashamed for simply taking in money and not trying to protect the animals they make money off of.
I've been a 5 star sitter on Rover for 6 months. I had 17 amazing reviews and many repeat customers. All of a sudden I get an email from Rover that they canceled my account and all my future jobs. They closed my account and they said I cannot appeal or change this decision. What the heck? I've done nothing wrong! I'm devastated and worried about my customers. This is terrible.
I contacted a sitter for my dog it was a month of contact but no meet and greet, 1 week before my trip I was told the sitter was unavailable.
Already explained, in addition this walk she took Freedom in was less than 10 minutes! Not 20 minutes I asked for! Here's your proof
I registered with rover. Not only is thevregistration process stupid and far beyond modern technology. The worst thing is the financial aspect. Not only do they have a chat tool to diectly get in contact with the dog sitter. All conversation happens via email and I was loaded with emails having one sentence statements. In the end the dog sitter told me that he is not available during the time span I had asked for on rover. I had to cancel my booking and guess what I had to pay 60% of the sitter fee. I wrote a mail to rover and never received an answer. What scum bags and cheaters and money succers asking for a lot of money for nothing.
They do not care about their sitters at all. One of their support team cancelled one of my sits by mistake. The client went with another sitter since they thought I cancelled for no reason. The support team admits they made a mistake but will take no accountability by paying for the sit they should not have cancelled. None of my sits should have been cancelled as I did not consent to do this either, not to mention it was the wrong one they cancelled. They lost me business and a client. Every time I contact them they just say sorry, we understand, but take no responsibility at all for messing up business for me. They lost me $300 worth of business and won't do anything to fix their mistake. Their support team is a joke
ATTENTION ALL PEOPLE SIGNING UP FOR ROVER TO PET SIT, THIS APP IS A SCAM! YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED ANY WORK! THEY DO NOT POST JOB LISTINGS, THEY TELL YOU ITS UP TO YOU TO SELF PROMOTE, THEY REFUSE TO GIVE YOUR MONEY BACK EVEN IF YOU DO NOT GET ANY JOBS. DO NOT SIGN UP! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD THAT THIS APP IS NO GOOD! USE CARE.COM, WORD OF MOUTH, OR CRAIGSLIST! THIS IS A SCAM AND A HORRIBLE COMPANY. THEY OUTSOURCE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ARE NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. BOYCOTT THIS COMPANY!
Booked a sitter 3 months in advance and she cancelled 5 days before Christmas. Rover did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING despite all their policies mentioning reservation cover/protection. Obviously prices are 3x as expensive now and much more difficult to find a good sitter but of course Rover could care less. MUCH better booking elsewhere directly with a pet hotel/pet company. Trust me - I'm panicking right before Christmas and new Year's, definitely not how I imagined this going.
I have had terrible experiences with Rover pet sitters. I am respectful of their time and try to book out about a week with a pet sitter. They agreed to perform a service And after several days Reply they will be unable to perform the service or simply ghost me. I have had to cancel travel plans because they drop me at the last minute. Extremely unprofessional, uncaring, selfish. Basically walk, low quality people who have no concern for their customers other than making money at their convenience. DO NOT USE ROVER.
I left my dog under the care of Rover's pet sitter. The next day my dog was lost. Noone called me to notify me, Rovers sent an email saying that they were looking for my dog and offering a reward to whomever found him. Next day my dog was found. Rovers immediately closed my account without explanation and they didn't honor the promised reward to the person that found my dog. I do not recommend this company as they take no accountability and your pets are not safe.
If you ever have a problem with billing, you will never be able to talk to someone. The sitters are wonderful, but, when my dog died, and I had to re-block for just my cat, they kept the 500+ dollars I had already paid and then made me pay again for the cat just to confirm since my dog died. Pretty heartless. Supposedly, I will get refunded for the visit I had but why can't they take the new booking out of the money I had already paid them? The most unnerving part is that they have this endless menu system that keeps you from reaching a real person. Their ratings also look really high on Google, but that's because the people they have a sitters are really good business end is terrible.
Hired a "house sitter" through Rover. Met with her and emailed and left the same instructions at the house. She never stayed. Came home to cat vomit all over the deck, dog poop with maggots and dead plants and that is just the highlights. Oh and she managed to let my dog out of the fenced in yard. Tried to dispute the charges with my credit card company but Rover takes the position that they are not responsible for the "contactor". So why did I pay Rover?
I never received my keys back after disagreement with the sitter and they were not held accountable nor did they have to pay for my locks to be replaced:
When I had a last minute illness, Rover kept all my money because I couldn't prove a doctor thought I was too ill to travel. Never mind that the doctor said I was too ill to work. I've had much better experiences finding through Craigslist or my local vet than a faceless corporation that only cares about their bottom line.
We hired what turned out to be a very dishonest pet sitter through Rover to do six 30-minute drop-in sessions. She was to stay 30 mins. Each session, which never happened BUT she sent us texts and photos making it look like she'd stayed at our house for an hour each time, probably hoping for a nice tip. Fifth visit time came and went. No pet sitter. She finally sent a text THE FOLLOWING DAY at 12:35 a.m. saying she was at our house for the previous night's dinner visit. Then she sent a duplicate photo of our dogs from her first visit 3 days prior. Had she actually arrived at 12:35 a.m., she would have set off the alarm system, which didn't happen. We reviewed our Ring doorbell footage. She never showed up for the fifth visit. She lied at the time, and then tried to lie her way out of it. Rover doesn't stand behind their service. To get a refund, I had to contact the pet sitter directly and have her sign off on the refund. I'm still waiting. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
I was a sitter and had almost 20 positive reviews and 0 negative reviews. The owner and his two dogs had 0 reviews. After caring for his dogs, I reported a bitting incident to Rover about the dogs and they asked the owner for his side of the story. I took the liberty to report the incident to Rover to warn future sitters about the rude owner and his aggressive dogs. Rover decided to fully terminate me after MY report. This is not how a business should operate and I definitely do not recommend using them in the future.
I'm currently being stalked by a sitter (Kristen Rowe) whom I used while I was living in NC last summer. This woman has been stalking me online and Rover refuses to do anything. Their customer service is absolutely horrendous. When you call and finally reach a person, they can tell you NOTHING. They say they will transfer your request to another dept and that dept will email you. It's unreal. I have now deleted my account and will never use them again.
I booked a dog sitter, the day before I reached out to confirm the time and where he lived and he never responded. I was forced to cancel and find a new sitter, but still charged. River said it's not their problem. Well of course this guy ghosts people if he can still get paid for doing nothing!
I've used a few different sitters for dog boarding services. There are some sitters who do go above and beyond but the issue is that the majority are not going to give much care for your pet and therefore your pet's safety and health is being gambled on. I've had dog sitters return my dog with injuries from bites and scratches. Also I will provide clear details and nevertheless my instructions are ignored.
If you reach out to rover support then you might get a trivial credit amount so that you have to continue using their service and paying them money. I'd recommend befriending some neighbors and communicating with close friends to help watch your dog since you will at least know that they have empathy and compassion. Rover is just a greedy and heartless service.
