Don't buy car batteries from Rock Auto!
June 24, 2021

I bought a new battery for my car at the end of last winter. Come to find by the spring it was only maintaining half or less charge. I tried to set up a return to get a refund and they would only let me do an exact exchange. Rock Auto only gives you a 30 day return policy on all parts, which is ridiculous. Here's the catch. I would have to purchase the exact battery again at $160 cost to me. Replace it then ship back the defective one and get dinged for the shipping cost. Car batteries are not cheap to ship and would cost minimum $70 to ship back to them. So, to save a massive headache, I bit the bullet and ate the cost of my original purchase and had my mechanic replace it for me and I know it's going to be good. Learn for our experiences and please stay away from buying large car parts from them. There return policy is BS and BROKEN! I wish I could give 0/5 stars.

Ordered a part but did not save the order number as they send an email conformation.

Email never came and my card was charged for the part. Now there is no one to contact about the issue.

Will never order from them again. RUN away!

Great prices, super fast shipping

We just ordered for the first time on the 13th and already received our order. Shipping was incredibly fast, prices were competitive with everywhere else we looked and was packaged so everything arrived super safe. Could not be happier with my experience with this company!

Steer Clear of Rock Auto
June 8, 2023

I ordered a couple of caliper pistons. They never arrived. The website is NOT customer service friendly. I sent numerous emails to the company. The response was generally quick, but not helpful except for one person. Even still, the part was listed as Carrier Lost. The site says a refund was in process and sent. It never was. Since then, I have written them twice more asking about the refund and they have yet to answer those emails. They have the part and my money. My question is; is Rock Auto a real company or scammers?

Rock Auto has once again let me down. I ordered a Coolant overflow bottle for my Dodge Ram truck from Rock Auto. I installed the new Dorman Coolant overflow/ windshield washer reservoir combo bottle that they sent. Well it leaked badly. Sent back the defective part with a return label to Rockauto. I then received another from Rockauto only to find it leaked as well. Granted the design and chinese quality is inferior but to add insult to injury, Rockauto is charging me to ship the second defective unit back. Pics to prove. Poor Business practice Rockauto. Their phone number does not support a customer service line when calling in. Really Rockauto? Inferior company for sure. As an Engineer and classic auto restorer for 25 years, I have seen poor Auto industry Business practices but Rockauto is just plain terrible.

I have recently ordered several parts for my 05 gmc truck from rock auto and my experience has been second to none... awesome service, prices and outstanding shipping. I live in New Zealand down under and the last 3 orders have arrived from USA to my door via FedEx in 4-6 days. Unbelievable to be fair. Local internal shipping within nz takes longer than that... 10 out of 10 to ROCKAUTO

I never leave reviews good or bad but this company is so bad I had to find the time.
This is the worst experience I ever ever had doing business with a company in 57 years of life.
They incorrectly list parts that won't fit your selected vehicle, then make you pay for return shipping, even when they were at fault.
They will not talk with you by phone to resolve problems, only e mail, which can be extremely frustrating when you are trying to explain what they did wrong.

I'm a satisfied customer and very pleased with the fast shipping and how everything was neatly shipped out. Everything was perfectly boxed and sealed with all parts nothing missing.

I recommend this company to anyone especially single women because the prices were very affordable. Very good company; It's worth it!

Ordered a few car parts here... muffler... brakes. And hardware after a bad experience at another online auto parts.
Items were shipped within 2 hours of order placement. I will have half the order in 2 days and the balance in 4 days.
Prices are competitive... I took advantage of a coupon promotion. On the muffler and got a fantastic deal.
Rockauto will be my place for autoparts.
I really like the options they show for all available parts from various suppliers.

Great Business

I recently broke down in the middle of traffic to find out my fuel pump had gone out! We were able to get a fuel pump and a fuel filter in 2 days from RockAuto for half the price of what we would have paid at a local parts store. That even included the shipping! All the local part stores were almost a week out on getting the parts in plus charging twice as much! I had reservations because of the low ratings for this online store... But boy did they prove me wrong! And I'm so glad they did! Happy customer right here... for life!

Spent hours replacing a power steering pump that ended up being faulty. There's no way to speak with a live person, there's no willingness to help a consumer out like normal businesses that actually care. Because I've since moved, being told to buy a new unit, pay for shipping and no concessions for all of the labor I've put into this and then have to jump through hoops to return the old unit for a credit. Never going to use them again...

I placed orders with rock auto 6/13/22 for my work truck parts. Order was shipped from two locations with the first arriving in two days from USPS however the second part was shipped through DHL which still hasn't arrived as of 6/28/22. DHL tracking shows still in transit and no way of speaking to a rep. I tried to contact rock auto about the problem and their automated system sent me to DHL's tracking system which I already had.No way to communicate with a rock auto rep.My work truck has now been down for two weeks! I'm a long time customer and have never had a problem with this until now.

I've ordered from Rockauto for years. Delivery is quick. Pay attention to where the parts ship from, it's not uncommon for parts to ship from different warehouse and you pay two or more shipping charges. Of late, their packaging is shoddy. Get wiper blades shipped in boxes too short. I ordered a new part in January, received it in a timely manner, but didn't install it because of the weather. Just opened the box, the manufacturers box, and the part is broken. My fault for not checking as soon as I received it. But the part wasn't wrapped in anything from the manufacturer and it broke when it rattled around in the box. Just shoddy, Same order, ordered oil filters and they arrived not even in boxes, just shrink wrapped.
They've gone downhill.

Lie about shipping

I ordered a part I need because my truck is down. When I placed my order it shows delivery in 5 days, 3 days if I paid more. So 5 days is acceptable but now after paying and completing the order I see tracking shows 10 days because they chose DHL. Had I known they don't care about how fast you get your parts I would have shopped elsewhere. Never again will I use rockauto

Returns, no problem!
December 22, 2021

Bought a transfer case motor, it failed after three months. Went online to there return policy, printed off there "free" return shipping label after filling in my claim. As soon as they received the confirmation tracking number that the old part had been sent they sent me a new transfer case motor and within a couple of days I had the new motor & installed it. Haven't had an issue with the new part and its been a year now. Return process was relatively easy, no number to call. Just fill out a form and print off the shipping label and send.

Parts arrived late and no cust serv
April 4, 2024

I ordered some parts last Friday and I paid for expedited shipping to receive all by Wednesday. The parts came from different places and shipping companies and as now Thursday 1:33 pm I am still waiting for some parts. They should refund at least a percent of the shipping as wasn't arrived on time like they said in the payment process and I lost my appointment that was for today at 9am. They have no customer service and when you select the parts to let them know that arrived late, they have an automatic response to keep the parts for later ‍‍no other option to ask for customer service representative or get a partial refund. 4/5 stars.

I ordered a rim for a 2012 Mazda 6, price was good, arrived on time; that was great. However when it arrived I found out I didn't really need it. Because they had 2 description of the Silver Color; Painted Silver, and Bright Silver, I was curious if I selected the correct color. I open the package to check. Then I called and arranged to get a shipping label as required for a return. I did not even take it out of the box. A few days later someone called Mimi told me they won't refund me because "it was put on a vehicle and rotated." What a crock. I tried to assure her no such thing happened, but to no avail. She held on to the rim and refuse to refund. I have never encountered this type of dishonesty. I would not recommend doing any business with these people.

I have been doing business with Rockauto for years, and I ordered a part for my car which was incorrect.
Since i had exceeded the 30 days for the return, I learned from their online website that it was too late to get satisfaction.
I just want to exchange for the correct part, or get credit, but that is not option.
Each situation is different, and you can't hide behind a website or email when unique issues occur.
What I have learned is that I will not do business with them anymore and will pass the word on about them as well.
To many other auto part vendors out that have BETTER Policy's.

Defective calipers
May 30, 2022

Recently ordered 2 calipers from rockauto. They arrived on time. Removed one from box, missing the outer dust boot. Opened second one, all was intact. Installed the all intact caliper, it was seized worse than the one coming off. Tried the one without dust boot, as I could use one off my old caliper. This caliper would even move with the vehicle running! Boxed up and they generated a return label but I had to pay to send one caliper back. $9. Not a big deal. I finally received the refund for my calipers minus the shipping charges! Pretty ridiculous I wasted over $40 Canadian to ship defective calipers! This will be the last purchase from rockauto I'll be making. Will pay the extra money and get it locally. Rockauto has definitely gone down hill!

My stating of poor customer service is that there is none. I made an order and after submitting I noticed it said right side and not left side. I tried to use the instructions on the site to make a change of the part being that it was just ordered. They have absolutely no one to speak with. I sent several emails only to get one reply to refer to the website instructions with gives no options to change order. Will never deal with again due to lack of customer service and very limited help options. Can not even enter your issue have.
