We bought this because my wife wanted something to show us who was at our front door. NO WHERE in any of the presales documentation does it say that you have to have a continuing account with a monthly fee to Ring to use the doorbell. You receive a one month free subscription but as soon as that expires you can no longer see who is at your door nor see any movement around the door. The only way it looks like you can do this is continue to pay Ring for a monthly subscription to their cloud storage. THIS IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF BY RING, IF I COULD I WOULD GET MY MONEY BACK. The product is too slow, by the time you have connection from you mobile device to the doorbell, caller has already left.
Ring is totally unreliable. Forgot my password and they refuse to send me a reset email for a new password. It has never been reliable and constantly crashes. What a rip off.
Camera works fine but when the 60 days of keeping your footage runs out then it keeps charging and cancelling you subscription to keep the camera going rendering the camera
Itself useless
Ring sucks. They're overpriced for the service they provide. The cameras and doorbells are hundreds of dollars and then they make you pay an additional fee of $100 a year to record. That's the whole point of the camera. If you don't pay, you can only view it live. So if you're away from your phone and you get an alert that someone is at your house, sorry. You won't be able to see who it was or have any footage to show police if you're home was broken into. And on top of that when you do get an alert, it takes FOREVER and sometimes doesn't even come up at all so it completely defeats the purpose of these. There were so many times, if not every time, my camera went off, the app and camera would take so long to load and show me what was going on that if I was home, I just got up and looked out my window to see what was going on. That was faster than this service. Which defeats the purpose of me spending my money on these cameras. If I hadn't already spent hundreds of dollars on these cameras, I would throw them away. They're useless really. It literally just happened to me 5 minutes ago where my camera went off and it just kept loading and loading and never opened. Doesn't really give me the peace of mind I was looking for when purchasing from a security camera company. A complete scam.
We just spent over an hour on the phone w/Ring, as well as trying chat online, in order to return three spotlights that simply will not work in this rural area. We were hung up on, disconnected via the chat twice, and additionally lied too (by Briana via online chat) and told that we had to pay full shipping to return the products. The website clearly states that we will pay simply a 5 dollar flat fee to return. Finally, after an hour of talking on the phone and simultaneously trying to chat online to get this resolved they switched us to a supervisor who assured us we would be receiving a return label with no fees. We shall see. We are still waiting for it. In addition, when we received the 3 spotlights there was no receipt in the box. When we tried to log into our account online they acted like our shipping order number didn't exist. They clearly have stall tactics to avoid paying return shipping. Horrendous customer service - they acted like they had no idea what we had ordered or who we were even though they have all of our information online. Returning a product that we have had approximately one week and are unable to use should be simple and stress free. They simply are trying to avoid paying return shipping fees. We will never buy a Ring product after this experience.
I rented a house in 2021. Owner purchased a ring unit but did not subscribe to video service where you can look at who came to my door, so I signed up for that service and was charged $3/mo. I moved out in Dec 2021 and cancelled the ring service. My recurring charge stopped in Jan 2022, one extra month wasn't work the hassle to argue about. BUT then my bank account started being charged by ring for monthly $3.99 fee since Dec 2022. I have nothing to do with this house nor that ring unit. My bank charged stopped for 11 months then restarted out of the blue. Contacted ring customer service twice, they can not provide any information since my email address is not connected to any ring device, YET somehow my bank is attached to some ring device somewhere. Both times contacting customer service was a waste of my time. They kept repeating that I need to contact my bank. I did that, bank can stop payments from now going forward. Ring could not answer me as to why my bank was suddenly charged a monthly fee when I have no ring service. Ridiculous! I was thinking of getting a ring for my new house, but this experience has given me serious doubts about ring in general
I wanted to purchase Ring Protect. I went online and interacted online with Sharon. My beef is, the timeline she put in and the hold I was on, forever. When I looked back at the online conversation, it was only one minute, when in fact it was over 3 minutes plus! I thought it was a scam, because she never got back to me to say, hang on, I'm still here!
The problem is, the transcript says 1 minute between exchange, which is not true. I held for a long enough time where I said, I must cancel my credit card, because, I thought it was fraudulent behavior.
On the other hand, I called and spoke to Emily. Sweet, wonderful and solved my dilemma. She was patient and kind. She walked this old gal through it and all is good.
Thank God for her! I'm sure Sharon online, did have a computer glitch, but, don't make it look like it was 1 minute per conversation, when it certainly was not. I would never leave a conversation, unless I was left hanging for 3 minutes or more, with no correspondence at all, as to why I'm still waiting for an answer.
I love my Ring doorbell. All is good. A big shout out again to Emily! She is a great asset to your company.
Purchased from QVC but chime was DOA I contacted QVC only to be bombarded by emails from ring asking for all my personal details including credit card number before they would replace. I found this odd so boxed up sent back to QVC.
Ring I found was a unhelpful company
Purchased a Video Doorbell 2. It has not worked correctly since it was purchased. After a couple stints with customer support and trouble shooting my connection rather than their device, it was deemed to be a faulty device. After shipping my device to them under an RMA for replacement and after reception of the device, i had nothing but issues trying to convince Ring to actually ship the replacement. After weeks of many phone calls and online chats filled with broken promises and lack of follow up, I finally received an email today stating my replacement had shipped. Though I was promised expedited shipment after weeks without my device and a pending shipping order, they shipped in the slowest method possible in my opinion, FedEx Home delivery which will take another week.
The employees seem to have no accountability. You can speak to a service rep or their supervisor, but there is nobody they will give you access to above that. After searching the internet, the only contact information I can find is the address of the corporate headquarters. There is no escalation process they could give access to or initiate themselves. Nobody seems to care.
In my experience it is horrible company only outdone by their own employees. I can only hope this device works.
Hi Chris,
I am so sorry to hear about this poor and inconvenient Ring experience. This is not the experience that we intended for you to have. At this point, I would like to step in and be your direct point of contact here at Ring. It is absolutely imperative to me that you receive the best possible Ring experience and I want to ensure that we provide this for you from here on out. With that being said, would you please contact me directly at Kandyce@ring.com once you receive your replacement device?
I would like to assist you with the setup of your replacement device to ensure that everything runs smoothly for you this time around.
I would appreciate your time.

Ring is slow I have good signal and now it's not working at all I am handycaped and can walk very well now I have to get up to check every thing I well be looking for something that works all the time
Recently my gen 1 Key Pad stopped working after 3 years. I called customer service and since we are enrolled in alarm monitoring they were able to send out a replacement. They no longer make the gen 1 key pad to disarm/arm the alarm and instead sent me a gen 2 (which is smaller, and removes the large circle). What I also learned is that the key pad only illuminates when it detects motion near the keypad and there was no way to change that until... I called customer service and after 35min was informed that it was designed that way to no longer illuminate what mode the keypad is in (home/armed stay/armed away). So... I found online that the founder literally lists his own email address online on their site. So I took a shot and emailed him. I did not expect a reply, but he replied! And, he got me in touch with their COO Mike who then informed me that after customer feedback that the light was disturbing to some sleepers, they turned all day illumination off when they rolled it out. However, they built the software for gen 2 so they would have the ability to give the customer the choice to turn it on/off etc. And on top of that they are in the middle of testing that feature, and to solve my issue they rolled it out to my account. As of last night, my Mode Buttons now illuminate all the time so that I always know what status my home is in (without having to walk up the device). I don't know of any other company that would go that far to please a customer. I am a customer for life now!
Ring doorbell is not that old and keeps losing the WiFi connection. Also the light has Burned out. You have to remove it from the wall in order to reset it.
Hi Rick,
We'd be glad to investigate why your Ring doorbell keeps disconnecting from Wifi. Please email me at Bilan.jenkins@ring.com for help resolving this. In the meantime, can you move your device a little closer to the router to see if that helps?

As I owned a Ring doorbell and all seemed fine I decided to get one for my sister who lives in another part of the country I even drove and installed it for her. She has been having a lot of items stolen from her and this seemed like a good solution. After the initial charge the battery drained within 2 weeks. Because my sister needs assistance, I tried to troubleshoot the device with their support. They told me the cold weather was draining it, it was September but their so called diagnostic indicated it was working within the specs they set forth. As I mentioned my sister needs assistance to take it off and charge it which is not always available so it's sits there not working. Not exactly what I was looking for. I have tried three times to either get it replaced or refunded and have been told they can't do anything. My advice is if you buy I hope you get a solid device out of the box, if not you will be out of luck. They do not stand by their product. So I will buy a nest and hope for better. I can't always get up to my sister to help so I need reliability, not a company that cares only about the sale and the monthly subscription. Very disappointed and would not recommend.
Ordered Spotlight Cam Solar, which I have never received. A month after I placed an order, I have requested a refund from RING, and they have declined to issue one. Saying that I should send the camera back (the one that I have NEVER received), and then they will issue a refund.
TLDR:
Ring forces you to pay pricey monthly subscription (Ring Protect) to access basic functionality. There is no good reason to buy any Ring products when better and more affordable systems are available on the market. Any security system with local video storage and no sub fee is a better buy.
Extended Review:
Useless without a subscription. Scams you into paying pricey monthly subscription for Ring Protect to access basic functionality. Allows you to see videos saved in the cloud for trial period of 30 days only, and after the rug pull on day 31, your 30 day return/refund window has also closed. Access to recorded videos should be a basic feature and are the minium functionality most people require in a security cam. It seems to be fraudulent and misleading marketing to describe Ring Protect as a premium, add-on feature, when it is actually a subscription required for unlocking basic functionality. Someone please file a Class Action against Amazon for false and misleading marketing of the Ring!
Ring has really bad customer service this it the 2nd time talking to them an the always seem to blame my internet I got my rings worked great for the first two weeks an now it's always on poor signal an this last time I asked the supervisor wat was going to happen an she totally just hung up the chat it's really upsetting to waist your hard earned money to have em blow you off. My internet it downloading at 250 mbps an uploading 17mbps an my RSSI is at 45 Poot signal not on my end.
I purchased a Doorbell 2 and two stick up Cams. I received the doorbell and one stick up cam on 9 July 2017. I called and was told the second stick up cam was on back order. I signed up and paid for video recording for both the Doorbell and the stick up Camera that I received, upon completion of the free 30 day trial. The second stick up Camera did not arrive until a second follow up call and it was early Sept. Yesterday my video recording were stopped on all devices and my account shows no previous purchases of the video recording. I have tried to resolve using the online chat (twice) and was told billing would contact me via email within 3-4 hours. That has not happened. I have called the customer service line and been transferred to billing which immediately defaults to elevator music. The first call ended at 40+ minutes with no response and the second call is now 30 minutes and counting. I like the product but the company is not ready for prime time. Their customer support is horrible.

Always have trouble connecting to ring and I pay for this service and i have another camera that cheap and not a ring and can always connect and the service is free.
Please note that we had set up a video doorbell around 3 months back. Since day one the device has not been operating well to its optimum.
The problem that we are facing are as follows.
1. Sometimes the bell rings and at times it does not. Now sure why? The internet speed is quite good at the villa (80 Mbps). The blue light on the doorbell keeps rotating with no action.
2. The installed screen inside the villa gives a notification whenever someone rings the bell. Can we get rid of the notification and have a simple step whereby the user can speak to the person by pressing the Green button or to reject the Red one. I hope this feature is available in your app or the device. The notification is quite annoying and delays the process.
3. We also want the calls to work well on the mobiles so when the client is away.
We have sent an email to *******@ring.com and despite receiving a few setting changes from the team the problem continue and does not work.
The bell does not serve the purpose and is very slow to respond when the bell is rung. There is relay gap for the video to appear on the screen despite having a good internet speed.
If I could give this company 0 starts at this point I would. We purchased the stick up camera about 7-8 months ago then when we called back to order a couple 2-3 months later we were told they were old camera and obsolete. We were told that we could use the solar panel that we had with the new spot cams. And that they would have a bundle packaging. So here it is 3 months later and we need to get cameras that work so we are reaching out to Ring and they tell us that there is no price bundle and our solar panels are not compatible that we purchased from them now they would like us to Spend another $1000. 00 dollars to replace what we already have in hopes that maybe they will work and not be obsolete in 2 months if we needed more CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME TO CHANGE COMPANY'S IF I NEEDED TOO.

Answer: Most annoying product ever. Doesn't work but almost does. This makes you constantly fool with it thinking you maybe possibly actually got it to do something similar to what they advertise. But in the end you will be back to square one with a pricey piece of crap! Then after hrs of listening to customer services b. S. you realize you've been had. But it doesn't end there. You end up on sites like this trying to help others from making the same mistake. And trying to figure out when this hell will end!
Answer: It does not work the way it is presented on T. V. The inability to immediately respond "LIVE" to an event renders it useless.
Ring has a rating of 1.3 stars from 773 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Ring most frequently mention customer service, door bell and live view. Ring ranks 166th among Home Security sites.
Hi Leo,
I am sorry to hear about this less than excellent Ring experience. We do notify our customers about the cloud plan on our website (https://shop.ring.com/pages/protect-plans), in your Ring app during the first free 30-day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in your email about this service. I apologize for any miscommunication but we will work on providing even more transparency to our customers as we can in the future. Additionally, our optional Protect Plan allows you to access/download/share past Ring videos. Without this service, you'll still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to Live View. Would you be so kind as to email me directly at Kandyce@ring.com?
I would appreciate the chance to improve your Ring experience.
