Updates won't fix it
January 30, 2020

Was working o k till 6 months ago then worse every month and lately their weekly updates aren't fixing problems at least with IOS/Apple And ring Android has that scandal with sharing with police without your knowledge. At Apple App Store go to ring app then find people giving reviews then select" most recent"
You will see the last few months of reviews are terrible

Ring is a great program but the customer service representatives are horrible and know nothing. I called regarding the referral program. The first gentleman that helped me started answering my questions by saying "ummmmmmm" like if he was trying to make up something right there and then. He then transferred me to a women that was supposedly going to be able to help me. Once I have her my neighbor's email that I referred she then said his account didn't exist. HOW DOES HIS ACCOUNT NOT EXIST IF HE SHOWS ME VIDEOS ON THERE ALMOST EVERYDAY?! If management ever reads these comment. HIRE A BETTER STAFF NEXT TIME! And don't hustle people about the referral program

I have two homes with Ring cameras set up. Four cameras at one location and seven cameras at the other location. I had a wired camera go down and it would not work no matter what. When I called customer service in November of 2020, I went through the diagnostics with a technical support person and he said it needs to be replaced. I told him we're not at the home right now, we're snow birds, so if you could send it to me when we get back, that would be great, but it wouldn't be until May 2021. He said, "no problem. I've noted our entire conversation in your account and just call when you need the camera sent when you get back up north." So, today was that day. I called, went through the entire story again, which took over an hour on the phone with two different people, just to be told that there are no notes in the computer to collaborate my story! So, I was basically called a liar and can't get a replacement for my camera that was less than a year old, AT THE TIME! If I want the faulty camera replaced, I have to buy one. I trusted them to stand behind their product and word. I should have had it sent to me immediately and just brought it back up north with me if I knew they were going to be dishonest. Live and learn. However, for a simple camera replacement, they will now lose a customer that has 11 cameras at two locations and pays a yearly "protection plan" cost for both locations. Really bad customer service and a really stupid decision. These large companies really have no idea how to give quality customer service. They provide the illusion of it, without actually giving any.

Zero stars if I could

Absolutely awful products. I have super high power wi Fi and these devices constantly drop the connection. Bought their signal boosters and its 2 From the device, still cant keep a signal. The hard wired device keeps running low on battery - WTF?!? The solar charger does zip for another - wasted another $100 on these jokers.

STAY AWAY - DO NOT BUY RING PRODUCTS, PERIOD!

Hi John,

Battery life is contingent on usage so the volume of alerts you receive per day will affect it but we can provide optimal settings to conserve your battery. Would you reach me today at Kandyce@ring.com so that I can follow up on your experience? I'd appreciate your time and this second opportunity, John.

Thank you,

Meh.
February 1, 2021

My old ring doorbell became very dysfunctional and eventually stopped working. I decided to try an upgraded one. I'm not so sure it was the best idea now. Even though we have it hardwired in, they said we have to remove it and charge the battery if there are too many alerts. When it's hardwired it only charges at 10% per day. I think that greatly reduces the reliability and makes it inconvenient to unscrew it and detach the wires to bring it in and charge it. That is a hassle. We have it set up on people only mode, yet it catches the mail truck going by, but not a person walking past on the sidewalk, which is closer to the doorbell. I don't think people only mode is useful at all if it doesn't capture a person. For the amount that is charged for these doorbells they should be more precise and reliable as well as have a better battery life. *We do have our settings tweaked so it doesn't go off any more than necessary, but the battery still runs low. The loading time for a video after the activity was very very slow so I called, and they said I had to update the firmware. I did that and it was greatly improved, however it would be nice to be notified when there is an update that is necessary to keep things running at peak response.

We purchased our RING and completed the install today. I have a question for support so thought I would make a quick call... that was 1 hour and 55 minutes ago. While on hold, I tried the Chat feature. Started the chat, explained, my situation and received a response that they would be with me in 17 minutes. About 15 minutes into that, the chat simply ended. The third option, while still on hold to speak with phone support, I see an online option for them to call me. It shows that my call will be returned in 1 minute. That was about 15 minutes ago. No call of course. All in all, this is a very poor introduction to Ring. My neighbor is having good luck with his so I thought worth the cost. Now that I read these very poor reviews, and cant get any support, I obviously should have done further research before making a purchase.

After 2 hours on hold, waiting for support, I was connected with someone who could help me. He was polite and worked through the problem with me. I never did receive a return call from the chat option to have a call returned in 1 minute.
We are working through the set up and features. Seems a bit glitchy, but might be user error for now. Will report back after a few days' use.

We have the doorbell and also a spotlight. Bought at different times.
The doorbell, when we first got it. Worked great. Was able to view live feeds fairly quickly, was able to answer the actual doorbell when someone rang it.

But as time went on we noticed that alerts would be minutes after the event. Sometimes no alert at all of someone standing in front of the door.

Spotlight:
Same kind of thing, worked great for a few months, then just started to not work. Live events, forget it. If it ever connects, it's minutes later. We have it set to 'human only' but all night long it will alert of a plant blowing in the wind. We have now noticed that the light will come on for no reason, and just stay on. We turn it off, it comes right back on. But it won't come on when there is an alert? What good is that?

Both units can never seem to stay connected to the wifi, or it complains of it being too slow (we have a fiber connection). We also have a chime and it still doesn't connect when we try and view a live view.

We are done with these products. As soon as Google comes out with a spotlight, we will be trying them.
Ring is just terrible and they seem to have no plans on fixing their stuff.

RING an Inferior product
September 10, 2023

I purchased two outdoor RING cameras with solar panels and am very dissatisfied with RING. Both cameras fog up as the night progresses; to the point where you cannot see anything and if you switch wifi to another router, you literally have to take the cameras down and reset them. My Nest IQ cameras I put up in 2018 and have NEVER had to touch them when switching wifi.

Never properly worked. Had several visitors who rang the bell, but never got a ring on the chimes nor in the app despite a very strong WiFi signal, fully charged batteries, etc. Worthless.

Has Faults
June 27, 2019

I have the Ring pro. Overall it's an okay device. The things I don't care about it is the limitation of 30 seconds recording time. Something serious could take place at the door after that 30 seconds that you may want recorded, like a break in or to use to send to a company when you run into a rude door to door salesman. Ring should make the app so you can set the recording time longer if you want. The app, it takes 3 steps to delete a motion or recorded action, then a delay that pops up to say it was deleted. That step is a waste of time. The 3 steps to delete a notice takes about 7 seconds. That is very irritating when you have 50 notices. I don't think people review every notification DAILY unless there is a problem you discover at home. Ring could easily change the app so you could check off multiple notifications and hit delete once. I don't think their developers understand they need to make the app easier to use. I think they want it to look better making one having to take extra steps.

We were notified that our account had been compromised, and Ring suggested we change our password.

So I go to the Ring website to login. It accepts my email and password, but then wants secondary verification by sending me an email with a verification code.

I enter the code only to be told it was invalid. So I ask for a second code Ring sends me the IDENTICAL code number as the first one. I enter it again PRECISELY, no errors, and it says the code is invalid.

Then Ring locks me out for 24 hours.

So I try chat only to be told that new device setup and technical problems arent handled by chat (since when?). None of the choices Ring gives me for contacting them is for addressing my issue.

Nothing works to contact Ring (forget calling... you will be put on forever hold), so I contact Amazon, who owns ring. I send Amazon an email only to get a reply that they don't accept direct emails.

Net/net... if you can't resolve your problem with their totally inadequate help center you are simply screwed.

Same with Amazon.

I bought the ring door bell about three/four years ago when they first started advertising on TV and I am part of the beta test group. I am also the owner of a home electronics installation company. I have been in business for 30 years. I have installed about 16 of the ring door bells for my customers. Last week I had a unit that would no longer ring the customers indoor chime. The circuit in the ring door bell had blown out. The voltage from the door bell transformer was between 16 and 21 volts AC just where it is supposed to be. Ring technical support had no idea why it had blown out but since the unit was over 2 years old the customers only recourse was to buy another unit with a $50.00 discount.

NOW my ring door bell stopped working the other day. It can no longer connect to the Ring produced network during setup. The Ring technician told me it was because MY internet connection was too slow. My answer was how come it worked for the last 3 or 4 years (?) and I have a fiber optic network connection, the fastest available. I asked to speak to someone more knowledgeable and it was determined that the Ring door bell was faulty. But AGAIN my only recourse is to buy another door bell with a $50.00 discount. In my quest to write a review, I find that there is no way to directly mail or talk to anyone higher than a technical support person about any complaints you have.
NOT GOOD>
I will no longer be installing or using the Ring door bell, There are other options.

Not worth the money
July 14, 2019

Bought s Ring Pro doorbell and it worked for about a year or so. However it frequently disconnected from my network. Most times it reconnected on its own. I paid for their monthly service until I was having so many issues with it disconnecting.
Last October it stopped connecting altogether. Did some hard resets, disconnected it completely, checked my voltage which was fine but nothing. The doorbell does not eeven appear on my iphone. Called Ring Support and they ran me through the basics which I did on my own with no results. They could see that my doorbell was off line since October. I did not mess with it any more as the doorbell chimes did work,... at least. Then in February I tried again to reconnect but same thing, iphone does not pick up the doorbell to set up. Anyway, long story short, called Ring Support again, this time they said my doorbell was never registered with them and they were not too keen on helping, but they did. I carried out all the basic steps to rest, but not working. Anyway, I gave up. Do not waste you money on this product. Unreliable and support sucks. Will buy from another manufacturer and hopefully better than this Ring crap.

Updated Review!
December 5, 2017
Updated review

Well, I was reached out to by Kandyce and put in touch with one of their team members, Victoria. Victoria had already made herself familiar with my issues and called ready to help. She did not make any excuses for the way I was treated and apologized admitting the wrong doing of the company. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to hear from someone who took responsibility for the way I was treated, even though she personally had nothing to do with it. She immediately sent me my order of the correct cameras and a label to send the wrong ones back to her. That is simply all I wanted.

She was extremely helpful and professional. She even offered to help me if I had any connectivity issues after I receive them and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. I have not completed this order and I still don't have the cameras, but I thought it was necessary to update my review with this new information. I'll post another update once this is all completed. If you're contacted by Candice or Victoria, trust me, they will fix your issue if at all possible. Great customer service on this end, I wish they had all been as pleasant.

Thank You So Much!

Worst Customer Service Ever!
December 5, 2017
Previous review

So, I tried to order a two pack of the Spotlight Cameras Wired today. When the order went through, the item ordered was a two pack of the battery spotlight cams, I don't know how it happened since I only looked at the wired cameras. I thought, no big deal, I'll just call and get it changed. Boy was I wrong!

I called and spoke with a salesman who told me he might have to try to cancel the order and start over. I thought it seemed a little unnecessary since they were the exact same price, but whatever. Then he had to ask for permission and was told that he could not help me and I would have to send the product back after it was shipped to my house.

So, I ask to speak with a supervisor. I was on hold for about twenty minutes when they hung up on me. I immediately called back, waited on hold for another five minutes and spoke with a supervisor, Alice. Alice agreed with me that they should take care of me and promised to call me back before she left for the day. About an hour after that time passed, I called again to find out that Alice left for the day without calling back. The new person, Angelica, told me her policy would not allow her to change to cancel the order after it had been placed for more than thirty minutes. I tried to explain that I called two minutes after placing the order and they should do it. She was not happy that I did not care about her policy and wanted to be taken care of as a customer. She then told me Alice would be calling and she was somehow back at work. Still no calls back hours later. I called again to speak with a different supervisor, Grant. Grant told me he was unsure if he would be able to get the order stopped and agreed with me that it could have been stopped the first time I called. After waiting on hold all day and speaking with numerous different people, here is the answer I got. We will have to wait to see if it can be stopped, we should know in 24 to 48 hours, but there is no guarantee and we will not ship the right thing to make it right. Oh, an I may have to pay return shipping, that also is unknown at this point!

I'm so done with this company already and there is no way I will sign up for the subscription plan I planned to get from them. I guess I will have to wait for these cameras to arrive and send them back, which according to their website, I will have to pay for the shipping on that as well, according to Grant, that part is a maybe. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! This is honestly the worst customer service I have ever experienced and the only review like this I have ever written. I write good reviews of companies because I know how important it is, but this is just too crazy not to share with others.

Absolutely atrocious
June 8, 2022

I paid hundreds for spotlight cams for my front and back doors and additional hundreds to have them installed by a licensed electrician. The front one stopped working within 5 mins, and the back one within a couple days. Customer service said they'd send replacements, but would not reimburse installation costs, or pay to have the second cameras installed. When the back camera started flashing 24/7 and disturbing the neighbors and my Airbnb guests customer service said I'd have to pay someone again to come and uninstall it, without reimbursement. Ring refused to stand behind their product, refund my purchase, or take responsibility for the defects and their cost to me. I do not recommend purchasing Ring products. I personally will stay far away in the future.

*In addition, I bought a water flow sensor not made my Ring but endorsed by them. It has also been a constant pain, constantly alerting to me non-issues and turning my water off for no reason. At this point, I wouldn't even buy products Ring is affiliated with.

Hello it worked itself out like I told you I didn't have to do anything to the ring doorbell...you needed to get that update done. Update was done and all that time I spent hours on the phones and yes hours pulling apart or trying to pull apart the system and nearly tearing things up because you failed to send instructions until four previous attempts.I am sour at this experience...my time and frustration I cannot get back... multiple calls and multiple people ring and level...it was too much...my phone died of exhaustion as well.

Stop wasting people time and organize the process to assist the customer better up front.

You guys need more training.

U have patience but need to work on organizing the process to troubleshoot shoot...I recommend using this long $#*! call as an example of order of operations when troubleshooting...the nerve to say I need to get someone to help me open the doorbell and you had the instructions the entire time and just kept letting me nearly destroy my property...

Get it together ring...

Overall customer service 1 for patience
0 for organizing and prioritizing process to assist customer...0 for the lady that hung up on me. She didn't have a clue anyway

I am never going to give any one the go ahead...and to think I was going to install cameras and add service...

No no no and no.

Ring is done
