I brought 3 flood cams for 800.00 and paid 750.00 for hardwire installation and they NEVER work are off line all the time. We even went as far as getting another ring router. I am telling you save your time and energy and safety and go with some other company, this product is total GARBAGE, customer service says you have to reset your cams so you have to crawl up a ladder and push a button, total bull$#*!... I really really wished it worked...

My spotlight and doorbell does not catch action in my driveway or front door. I wrote to Ring about my problem and they haven't responded. Last night about 4 am there was a loud knock on my front door. Neither the spotlight nor doorbell caught it. It terrified me not being able to see what was happening outside my home. Don't waste your money on Ring.

Pros:
Provide distance surveillance sometimes

Cons:
- Bad cameras resolution - even unable to see car license plate etc
- Unable to operate cameras online (turning, changing view angle etc)
- Cameras often loosing connection (no video, no audio etc) and Ring will blame customers (you) in that and affirm that they equipment working fine;
- Ring app still in betta version and won't be improving further (basic required features are not implemented, bad user experience, buggy app, user interface and features are very different in comp and android app etc).
- Only 1 person can acquire admin rights in household - second spouse can't have admin rights and control cameras - feels like Ring think that one of the spouses are not smart enough to have admin rights for cameras.
- No admin settings are available on the laptop app - why such limitation and cut customer rights?

A little disappointed a lot of money spent for only 30 seconds recording time on my ring cameras, If I had known, I would have not purchased, I wish I had gone old school. Cameras wired to the house with monitors, continuous recording. And It's too late to get my money back.

They are a nightmare
November 8, 2018

Customer support is just fine however nothing they've done has made a difference after several interactions with them. You need a super wifi network to make these work as advertised. I have the best wifi I can get... the next step would be a gigabit plan. No way I would recommend them.
The concept is awesome... the reality is a nightmare... look and think long and hard before you buy Ring... I thought I did... I regret my decision. It's been nothing but a headache

Poor durability Ring Pro
February 12, 2020

The Ring doorbell pro looks good and is a great idea but the quality of the product is underwhelming to say the least. With-in a year the plastic doorbell button fails. It cracks due to use and I assume heat from the sun. I live in Northern California and my door faces West. I reached out to the manufacture and the help desk is pleasant but spare parts are not sold. They simply direct me to purchase a new unit. I would hate to have to buy a new unit every 12-15 months. Clearly the Ring team needs to better test the environmental impact on their products and improve the durability. There is ever increasing compaction out there now. I recommend shopping around before buying a Ring.

Total garbage
January 14, 2020

I cannot convey how much I regret buying in to the Ring ecosystem. I have a doorbell and four cameras. They RARELY work correctly. The battery cam is the worst and is basically dead. The doorbell (and really the cameras as well) are only useful for reviewing what they have seen, rather than anything live. Ring ALWAYS blames their customers' connections since they want to hide the fact that their servers can't handle the load. All in all, a waste of money. Don't get sucked in to their BS.

I live on my own so I got a ring to let me know BEFORE folks are at my door. I'm sitting here alone at night and I hear someone knocking on my door. I pull up ring to see nothing except that I'm offline.
After getting dressed and grabbing protection, I had to go outside because I have no idea whats going on except I'm alone, there's a stranger at my door since my friends don't visit at night and my ring camera isn't working.
Luckily it was some guy lost but it makes it completely pointless to have have security camera that doesn't work.
Meanwhile my Vuze or whatever cam is working fine, on the same wifi so it's not the wifi.

Overall I've been very happy with my Ring doorbell, but I recently purchased a Solar Charger for it and that has been a complete waste of money. Do not buy this product. My Ring Doorbell usually lasts 2 to 3 months before needing to be recharged. I thought the solar charger would make that time even longer - or that I would no longer need to charge the doorbell at all. Instead, my doorbell now needs to be charged every two weeks! The charger and the doorbell both face the sun. The solar charger, instead of charging my doorbell is doing exactly the opposite - draining it. I've reached out the Ring / Amazon multiple times and I've gotten no reply from them. This product is a waste of money, a terrible product and an unresponsive company.

The Ring device is a complete waste of money. It is glitchy at best. Once I do receive an activity alert it is SO s-l-o-w at loading that by the time the app actually loads the person/thing that triggered it is usually long gone. Oftentimes 10-15 feet away.

I called the company asking how to fix this and Ring told us it was because our WiFi was located too far away. Wrong. Our modem is literally sitting 2 feet away.

Then they told us it's because the "chime" extender was plugged in too far away. Wrong. It is plugged in not even 24 inches from the actual ring device.

Thier next solution? To purchase their newest model for $250. Were they willing to discount this because of our troubles. Not even a little. They told me to wait 3 months until Black Friday. What a joke.

I will never purchase a ring product again. There are MUCH better products out there for a lot less.

Waste of money and full of frustration.

Purchased Ring Doorbell 2. Upon installation found it didn't work properly. Called Ring customer service and, after an hour, they finally authorized a replacement, which they said would be an upgrade to Ring Doorbell 4. What I received was a "Refurbished" Ring Doorbell 2. Arguably an illegal bait and switch as I was never told that Ring would be sending other than new. After much time spent with customer service, they agreed, in writing, to sent a new Ring 3 doorbell. I waited nine days, finally called back, and was told the order had been cancelled, and they couldn't explain why. This is a truly awful company, and if you're going to trust your home and family to any kind of security company, this is probably not the one. A lot of good companies out there.

Save your money
March 12, 2019

Flawed product. Changed my router and now need to hire handiman to come take the doorbell down to reset wifi. As I thought about it I relied anyone (with the ring special screw driver-make sure you save that) can come remove the doorbell and either steal it or shut it down.

&, even when working, the lag time between someone ringing it and you being notified is way too long.

Don't buy this.

Terrible service
March 15, 2018

I had my ring doorbell stolen off my door and within one hour the their had registered it as their own. I was told I have no rights to the video of who came to my door because technically it had changed ownership. When I called to complain, the person I spoke to told me they should offer a PIN number system or some way to verify changes but they dont. We used to love this product but will never recommend now based on lack of rights to a victim.

I would give 0 star if I could. My new ring doorbell was installed, hardwired, on 5/31/18.
This is a replacement for another defective doorbell I originally purchased at Costco.
On 6/17/18 I received a notification email from Ring that my doorbell battery level was poor. How could a hardwired battery level drop 80% in less than 3 weeks? Called customer service with so resolution. Charged the battery twice since then, reversed wiring, cleaned contact, turned off live view and all motion zones. 25 days later the battery is completely discharged and no longer connects to wi-fi. Tried to call customer support and they don't even answer. Just a recording to leave email address and phone number and they will call back in 24 hours! Outrageous! I want my $30.00 subscription fee back. All I have is a dumb doorbell that looks like a video doorbell. Time to call Leo Laporte radio show Tech Guy who promotes Ring product.

Hi Michiko,

My apologies for any frustration. The battery in your device may deplete faster if your Ring is capturing a large number of motion events every day however, we would be happy to investigate this further for you. Would you kindly email me at Bilan.jenkins@ring.com? I look forward to ensuring that your Ring device works consistently to your expectations.

Best,

Battery Order Disaster
November 17, 2020

We decided to order three extra batteries for our three wireless Ring security cameras since we didn't want to forego coverage while the batteries recharge for several hours. When the package arrived, it had only one of the 3 batteries we paid for. We called Customer Service, where an agent demanded that we send a photograph of the opened box with only one battery. He agreed to send the remaining two. Fifteen days later, a second package arrived... it had only 1 battery! A call to Customer Service has not been returned! Terrible company.

Terrible purchase
December 20, 2021

I regret buying our Ring door bell camera and chime unit. It constantly drops out, often doesn't work even as a door bell and the battery life is very poor (less than 1 week between charges). I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Their CustomerService is terrible and will eventually lead to the company going out of business. If you have no problem with your cameras great but don't ever try to get help. They love to say haven't heard from you in awhile and end the chat. Twice this evening. I asked for a manager but no one started a chat with me again. Customer service the worst I have ever seen

Poor in every way
December 30, 2018

Hard to set up doorbell 2 chime just wont set up even after I installed a netgear wifi extender.
In addition we have a North South facing property front brining on North side. So front is colder and damper, result camera is often covered in condensation or even frost, rendering it useless A waste of money

Misleading
April 10, 2021

I misinterpreted the storage of vidoes. I thought it meant they would archive your videos. Little did I know that they would also turn off my local storage. I cannot see who is at the door unless I buy their plans.
And don't think you can just turn on the live video option. It takes so long to start that by the time it comes up there is no action at the front door.
Basically a totally useless device.

Every time I try to open up the app when there's a ring the app won't open, then it's too late. What good is that? Also the camera is pretty crappy too. Very frustrating, especially since we've had to replace it once already.

Hi Susan,

I'm sorry to hear this. What Ring device do you have in particular? Also, do you happen to know what your upload speed is? For best streaming performance, we recommend an upload speed of at least 1Mbps for the Classic Ring Video Doorbell and Stick Up Cam, and at least 2Mbps for the Ring Pro and Floodlight Cam. I'd like to connect with you so that we can resolve this for you and get your Ring device and App, up and running to your expectations. Would you kindly reach me at Kandyce@ring.com today? I would appreciate your time, Susan!

Thank you,
