No Pay No Play
July 2, 2018

I saw a previous review with the issue as mine. I purchased the device with the intention of using it real time and never intended to opt in for the subscription service. The second the free trial expired the device became useless. When motion is detected the chime will activate but by the time you can respond to the motion related event it there is no way to view who or what is there. Very frustrating experience. Not worth the money unless you are willing to pay the subscription fees.

Hi John,

I appreciate your feedback and want to do my absolute best to turn this around for you. You should be able to answer our alerts in real time to be able to see and speak to whoever is at your door without having to sign up to the subscription plans. Would you reach me directly at Kandyce@ring.com today so that we can investigate this a bit further and get to the bottom of the delay you are experiencing when trying to view your alert notifications? I would appreciate your time.

I got a new Ring device today - the floodlight camera pro. It set up according to their procedure, and then immediately went offline. I rebooted the router, and no joy. So I removed the device from my account, and tried to install it again. The blue light failed to blink, which was step one after pressing the button. Then, it said "if all else fails", press and hold a button for 20 seconds. Okay. I did. Again, nothing. I called their customer service, and they demanded that I "validate my account," essentially getting a 6 digit pin, so that THEY wouldn't have to answer invalid account callers. Whether online or in their app, I got "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again." I did, multiple times. No six-digit pin. So now I'm waiting in the queue for the unwashed, listening not even to Muzak - I'm listening to a 20 minute SALES PITCH!

Amazon, you are REALLY botching this.

Extremely disappointed
February 14, 2018

I received the Ring doorbell as a gift from my child or I would have returned it long ago. The wifi is weak and if you install it more than 40 feet from your router, plan on buying a wifi extender. The camera resolution is poor and response time so slow it often misses events. The Win10 app has no setup capability so you will have to use another device for that. The motion detector works, too good. It detects vehicles driving by even though I set the range to minimum, creating many false detections. Finally, you will have to buy a subscription after the free month to continue to record video. My advice is to look at other products as this one is not worth the time to install it.

Hi William,

I appreciate your feedback. For optimal performance we recommend your router be no more than 25-30 feet from your router however, barriers between the router or distance give the signals more of an opportunity to experience an interference as well. Do you happen to have any major appliances near your router? I would love to connect with you today so that we can take a further look into this, along with your motion detector settings, and make sure we resolve this for you. I see you have spent a lot of time installing this device and I want to make sure those efforts are not wasted.

Absolute Garbage!
November 29, 2020

First of all trying to get through to ring escalation team was a nightmare! It took us weeks! YES WEEKS! It's the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They wanted us to go through the initial setup so many times even though that wasn't the problem. We have been without Ring security for a month now and still the issue is not resolved. There are two people I know going through the issue with their devices. So this isn't an isolated problem. 8 hours of wait time on the phone and that's just one day! Still nothing resolved. Not only is this so annoying but this a HUGE security risk. We are not happy and will be making a complaint to the highest chain!

This is by far the most INCOMPETENT company I had ever dealt with! I really should have bought it through amazon. Long story short, I ordered a ring pro and a 5 pc security system from ring.com, got an order confirmation on Aug 21st. On the confirmation email it clearly stated that all products will be shipped within 5 business day. It is now Aug 29th, nothing is happening. I called and was hold forever while the girl went back and forth with the warehouse trying to LOCATE my order. In the end nobody knows where my order is. I was told to wait for 48 hours for the email from the warehouse. Word to the wise, avoid ordering from this website at all cost! Get them through Amazon. Also, I paid full price on the 21st and the same product went on labour day sale a few days later for 40 bucks cheaper. When asked if I could get a price adjustment since you clearly have not shipped my order out yet. They told me no.

Disapointed
September 26, 2020

Ring is good concept but screwed up with human biases. We have videoed people coming into our yard which is called trespassing and posted those videos. Ring staff refuse to allow the videos and delete them. Then send us a message about community standards. So Ring is deceiding what crimes get thru to consumers via the Ring. Therefore do not trust the crime rating incidents and area reporting. It appears to be unreliable.

Ring is horrible
July 5, 2020

Don't mount you cameras high. Will need to reprogram once a month or they will act up and spend over and hour trying to get help with support that doesn't help. Worst idea I never had. I'm ditching ring as it sucks

Long time ring customer here, since 2018.

Ring used to be a great company, their customer service, whenever I needed to reach out, we're awesome. There system was never perfect, but it was, by far, a smoother experience.

But then Amazon bought them and it has been downhill ever since.

Video quality and connectivity have gone out the window. Live video rarely works, takes 30+ seconds to activate the camera. I'll get notified "there's motion at your diriveway" but when I go to see the video…can't connect. My wifi is great. One camera is literally on the other side of the wall from my router and I still have issues connecting to it.

I wonder if the system is just overloaded now, it seems to be the case. There servers must have to deal with an incredible amount of bandwidth.

It's become a very frustrating product. I Feel bad for all the positive recommendations and great words I've spoken to friends and family about this company, only to see what it's now become.

Poor customer service and shady business practices
September 22, 2021

I installed Ring doorbell cameras 2 years ago. I have had several instances where the camera did not report someone at the door with no explanation why. Very hard to get ahold of anyone at company. Poor customer service. They also changed to a 'forced' two step verification method that no longer allows email as any method of verification. This is a BIG problem if your cell service is sketchy in your home or place of work. They wouldn't bend on this issue or make any exceptions. They were actually rude about it when I tried to work this out. They 'forced' this new policy immediately after I renewed my plan for another year. No refunds what-so-ever and I can no longer use the Ring camera reliably. I do NOT recommend this company!

I never intended to use the paid subscription portion of the Ring product. The doorbell itself functioned properly and I was able to utilize all functions from my phone right up until the subscription ended. Once the subscription ended I was no longer able to access Live View, answer the door, or view motion alerts in live time through the app. Those functions are the only reason I purchased this device. Customer service blamed the issue on my internet. However, when they added a free 5 day subscription the functionality suddenly returned (same internet). Once again, when the complimentary subscription ended so did the functionality. The doorbell is real property that I paid for and should still work independent of the secondary option of a paid subscription.

Hi Sandra,

I am so sorry to hear about this poor Ring experience. This is absolutely not the experience that we intended for you to have.
Our optional Protect Plans allow you to access/download/share past Ring videos. Without this service, you should still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to Live View. At this point, I would like to connect with you directly so that I can investigate why you are unable to access Live View, answer your door, or view your motion alerts. It is imperative to me that we resolve this for you and I would like to make sure that we do this with no further hassle for you. Would you please email me at Kaitlyn.rosenthal@ring.com?

I would like to get to work on improving your overall Ring experience.

They lie##
September 14, 2018

I purchased Ring. Paid in full for one year in May 2018. Worked great for 2 months then said I never paid. I called customer service a total of 7 times now. I always get a different person they tell me to email proof I paid. I email a copy of my bank statement 7 times. Call back they tell me they are looking into and will take care of the problem. This has been six weeks. No ones does anything. I paid in full for one year. Can't get any help no one will even call me back. I'm totally can not believe they took my money. Now play games. This is a major rip off.

I bought the Ring Floodlight camera. The camera actually worked well. It was the only ring device i had so service was only 30 per year. The siren is a joke, it is practically a silent alarm. And the communications were awful. I actually could overlook those two things as i liked the camera functions. HOWEVER, the floodlights broke within 2 years leaving me with a pointless device. I've now read countless accounts of the same thing happening to others. My neighbor's ring doorbell broke in 2 years also. I won't be buying any more Ring products.

Lack of Customer Support
February 18, 2021

Horrible customer service. Had to call multiple times in regards to my order, couldn't give me any information but to go look at my ring account or wait for the email response. Haven't even received the product yet, but disappointed about responses I have been getting.

Find another company to get your security devices from. My Ring device works for about 3-6 months then it will not connect to the WiFi. When you finally get someone on the phone in customer service, after 10-20
Minutes, they do not want to help You have to ask for your money back in order to get a replacement. When you ask for a supervisor, they say they cannot give out that information. Horrible company!

Battery constantly dies!
December 22, 2020

This is our second Ring ( tbf the company did replace the first as it had exactly this same issue)
This machine loses battery life after 2 days even with reduced motion settings set - also it has a selective memory for capturing visitors - all in all a disaster and we won't be bothering asking for another. Avoid as a total rip off!

I wrote a review about my ring door bell and got a email from them really quick. They asked me schedule a call back with someone and the earliest was not till September! What a joke. I was thinking about getting a flood light camera but not now I will not spend the money if they can not even respond in a timely manor. I am done.

Hi Elaine,

So sorry for any frustration you've experienced. Battery life is contingent on usage so the amount of alerts you receive per day will impact your battery life. Would you email me directly at Bilan.jenkins@ring.com? I would like to provide you with some additional suggestions to help improve this for you.

Piece of C**p.
December 12, 2021

I bought my ring for peace of mind while we were in Florida, but the device is driving me crazy. Constant false alarms, buzz buzz, there is someone at your door. This happens day and night, maybe ten or more times a day. Never a picture or video and when I check history there is nobody.
Rang ring 3 times no help whatsoever, the first lady said she couldn't help me and the last guy said he would check something and call back in a few minutes, still waiting two days later
