I unknowingly used reservations.com to book a hotel in Fort McMurray Alberta, Canada March 2022. The site represented itself as I was booking as directly with hotel. It was not. In addition it charged me in USD for Canadian hotel Without clarifying (charged 35% above market price). In addition to charging me they never sent confirmation email. In addition after my stay they continued to charge my credit card $25 for unknown reasons. I left my room early, but there was no number or method to get a refund. Total scam website, should have google warnings... I hope to report to police.
Deliberate obfuscation of hidden fees, currency and refund policies.
I would give them zero stars if I could.
Book with a reputable company or directly with a hotel, not this scammer business from Florida.
Avoid this company. They are scam artists intent only on taking your money. There is zero customer service and all of their "policies" are hidden in the fine print. They will simply charge you fees on top of fees to book rooms which you could book less expensively directly with hotels. And forget about trying to change or cancel a reservation. Once they have your money upfront... you are toast. I will never, repeat never, use this "service" again. Don't make the mistake of doing business with them.
Room rate does not include taxes and adds a $20 something or other fee. When you try to cancel (because you found a rate $40 cheaper all told on another site) they refund the fee (supposedly - we'll see) and then make it impossible to really cancel the reservation. Unbelievable; I am amazed this is legal.
Was not informed of hidden fees and never given an opportunity to review the purchase. After inputting my information and card number was just instantly charged $40 extra. No warning and no explanation. Attempted to cancel within 5 minutes and was treated horribly! Do not use these people! They are horrible! There are tons of others. Pick literally any one of them and it will be better than these scammers!
This site makes its money off of unstated or hidden fees and hidden cancellation fees. Also, read the fine print about "free" cancellation. It is free if you cancel 8 or more days prior to the trip; otherwise, you lose a one night's stay - even if you are only staying one night! Also, you cannot cancel online. They make you wait on hold for 30 minutes to talk to someone who can barely speak English.
This website is a joke, I got triple charged and was informed that the reservation did not go though, asked for them to cancel the transactions and after being on the phone for over an hour and transferred from one person to another to just tell me there's nothing they can do, for me to wait until the money goes back into my account. I don't have that kind of money to just wait 1-3 days, if there's no reservation they should be able to cancel the payment right a way. BTW the call center is somewhere overseas and the English is hard to understand.
I don't normally leave reviews but this was ridiculous. I booked through reservations.com by mistake. But never again. Not only did they not get the room reservation to the hotel so we had to re-book and pay for the rooms AGAIN, but after over two hours cumulatively on hold and talking with customer service they still will not confirm my refund amount. They said they have issued refund and I will receive in 5-7 days. Well, ten days and counting and still no refund and the vaguest answers you can imagine when I call for updates. Extremely frustrating.
Made reservations for room@ 90 a night because it was cheaper than what hotel we were staying at offered. Well, as you make reservations there is no itemized charges before make reservation button. They charge 30% more than hotel and apparently it is a subsidiary of Priceline because they are the ones that collect the money. Also, I tried to cancel within 10 minutes and was unable. They leave you no window. Reservations.com you are crooks. Stay away people!
Flight delayed, and customer service no help in not losing a prepaid room. No where to stay at 1:30 am with minor child. Could only find room in shady motel. So cost me 2 nights of hotel for 3 hours of sleep. Customer service hung up, left me on hold, promised to call back... NOTHING. Fully paid non-refundable... but I wanted the room so how can I be charged when they didn't hold it for me and I didn't get to use it?
If I could, I would give zero stars. Deceptive booking! I selected the higher hotel rate because it was listed as possible to cancel. Our trip looked iffy when I booked it, but I felt safe because of that. But the $19.99 fee charged 12 hours ago I find now is non-refundable. Stay away from Reservations.com!
Their site came up on a goggle search for the hotel I wanted to stay at, looking like a legit hotel site and with a banner to "call for deals". The call took an inordinate amount of time, required full payment, and not only added 22.5% for taxes and fees, but also included a $20 "service fee". The hotel general manager said this was "unheard of" and reservations.com have refused to refund the "service fee".
Clearly a scam and hard to believe they are allowed to operate.
1 star is being generous.
The site is devious and not to be trusted. I did not go to their site (I unsuspectingly wound up there halfway through my booking search). Ended up losing $1400 due to their sneaky, deceptive policies. Their 'customer service" agents WON'T do anything to help you. I feel completely defrauded by them.
They lied about the availability of rooms there was plenty! I then tried to cancel reservation and I was told there was no charge. The service fee of 19.99 is non Refundable not matter what and the will not EVER! Give you a refund. If the people from the Philippines could speak English they could have explained this. I would never do business with this company and only wish I could select zero stars, 1 is way too many how I was treated! Use Expedia
Unable to change or cancel a reservation (for 5/24/24) I made for a visiting instructor, even though my confirmation email says I can if I contact them before day of check-in. Liars, liars, liars! This is a dishonest company - even the representative in the call center Apologized for the lack of clarity on the confirmation email & said this happens all the time!
One month prior to vacation we purchased (and paid up front) three rooms on reservations.com. We had confirmations. Upon arrival after a 7 hour drive, the hotel informed us that no reservation was made and they were sorry but we needed to call reservations.com as they were booked. Reservations. Com had no explanation! They said they would refund our money less the "service fee" I asked what service they had provided... she said that is what she was doing right now. What a joke! We are seven hours away from home and with 6 people and a one year old and they would only return our money (less the service fee)... NO help finding another room. This company is a waste of time. They took our money, did nothing and stole 20 dollars for keeping our money for month.
DO NOT USE reservations.com!
What a complete scam! Got trapped by them being in a hurry trying to book some rooms for my construction crew in a very small town. This was a business transaction and we are a construction company. If you know anything about construction, you know that unexpected things happen and you need to change your plans on a dime. Needless to say after the room was booked our plans changed and we had to send the crew a week earlier that expected. This company refused to give us our money back. Said in the fine print it was a non-refundable transaction. Bull$#*!, that is out right stealing.
Entered hotel name on Google and was sent to this site. Made reservation which did not accept club coupon code and was more expensive. Tried to cancel but it was non-refundable. Did not receive the discount. I appreciate that I should have read the fine print, but they clearly are manipulative and devious in their approach. Scumbags all.
I had the ultimate WORST experience with reservations. Com! When I tried to cancel one of my two night hotel stays, they told me to contact the hotel. The hotel said it was no problem and I should get my money back from reservations. Com. I was on hold for hours, passed around, "disconnected" and "transferred" all to be hung up on every time. The hotel was $500 a night and weeks after I tried resolving this issue they're going to refund me $180. That's it?! Never again! Book straight with the hotel!
You may think that you are making reservations with the hotel itself, and reservations.com goes to a lot of trouble to make you think this. For example, only the hotel name will appear at the top of your web page; reservations, com will not. They charge excessive fees for no service whatsoever. Not lower rates, not better cancellation policies, nothing. The rates they actually charge bear little relationship to what you thought you were booking for. Today, I booked two nights for $233/night and was charged $630 PLUS their $34.98 non-refundable service fee. No service calls, no reparations, no explanations. The worst of the web. Why web services allow people like this to pay for #1 positions baffles me. It degrades the whole web experience.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.

Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
