They have a very deceitful/misleading website. Appears like you are booking directly with the hotel in addition to that they charge you $14.99 and not explicitly added when you check out.
AVOID if all possible.
Bottom line is I probably never would've had an issue if I didn't notice the fraudulent 14.99 "service fee" that this company tacked on as an additional charge to my card without warning and certainly without agreeing to. This caused me to call the physical hotel to see what their cost was, found out that the hotel was cheaper (with no hidden fees) so after a lot of professional complaining to the girl I talked to at this company I was able to get both the room and the non-refundable service fee refunded (or so she they told me, I haven't seen the money back in my account yet).
Tried to modify a reservation and the woman was completely unhelpful. Told us there are no modifications or refunds allowed. Learned later that reservation.com cannot modify anything and you need to ask the travel agent (such as expedia) for changes. She never told me that, just acted as an obstructionist. I don't know if there is a purpose to this zombie company since they don't make edits or allow you to choose your room. My advice, avoid calling them - go directly to your travel agent or hotel itself.
The only person in this company who understands customer service is James. Absolutely no one else was willing to work with me and still my refund was denied. Back story: I am an emergency responder and I was called out to an emergency in Cali. We usually book for 2 weeks as we never know how long or short they will be. This one was a short one, and so I had checked out 2 days later. Even with the proof of checkout, these people absolutely refused to work with me and instead have decided they are keeping $2,000 for a 2 night stay when I went there only for an emergency response, as is my job. Do NOT use these people, ONLY book direct with the hotel of your choice.
Stay away. "$99 room rate" with basically a 20% charge afterwards (probably double what the actual taxes would be through the hotel's website), only shown after the payment. 20 dollar fee on top of this.
Why anyone would purposely use a third party hotel website is beyond my comprehension. Fortunately for them, they can swindle your money and prey on unsuspecting folks to not pay attention to the design of their website and tout about their no refund policy. So shame on me. Fortunately, for me, I still need the room, but paid way more than I should have. I will be much more attentive to how I navigate onto hotel booking sites
Too bad I can't give zero stars.
Ended up paying $160 for a reservation that I could have paid $110 directly to the hotel.
Shame on me for not being aware, I thought I was on the hotel's web site.
They charged $140 for the $110 room, but on top of that, with no notice at all, charged $20 just for being an idiot and booking through them.
How do we get crooks like this off the internet?
You are taken to their site without knowing it, major hidden fees, accidentally hit the wrong button to cancel and was then not given an option to cancel. Absolutely no help with customer service. Will pay very close attention to NEVER use this site again.
So I have been waiting over 4 months now for the charges that were not disclosed to me to be returned. The last email said it would be sent in the next 10 days it has been months and nothing worst customer service ever but that's to be expected form a company that continues to rip off customers and commit fraud by withdrawing way more than the agreed amount from your account never ever use them I have also learned they are part of Expedia so I will never use them either
If you're reading this, than like me, it is probably already too late. If you search for a particular hotel, they have engineered their site to look like it is the site, which belongs to that hotel. It is bogus, and when you make your reservation they add a large service fee. Then when you try to cancel the reservation, you get an "Error 404: Page not found" message. I emailed them and I was informed that my reservation was non-refundable. I did not want to do business with these people, but I wound up there anyway, and it is costing me.
I always do my hotel bookings online, really helps save me time as I travel a lot for work. I'm really happy with Reservations.com so far. I've compared prices and Reservations.com was able to give me a good one even when you opt for 4 or 5 star hotels.
Appeared as the hotel site. Charged 20 service fee and did not reveal this until card was charged. I hate dealing with companies who steal from customers. It is horribly misleading to not give total before customer is charged. Stealing money is what was done. After this experience with this company and my last Priceline experience I will only be booking with hotels that have numbers to their hotel available. This is a nauseating feeling. Then the hotel charge another 50 hold for incidentals so a room advertised for 68 dollars costed 170 dollars. The hotel is the Avid in Beaumont Texas.
Reservations.com has made frequent travelling easier than ever. I run my clothing business in different states and am always on the go. I have used their service multiple times to reserve hotel rooms and I am absolutely pleased. Full marks for quick response and quality of service. Highly recommended.
I reserved through website mistakenly as it looked like I was going directly through hotel website. Event I was to attend got cancelled day prior to arrival. Reservation.com's policy is 5/6 days prior to arrival cancellation whereas hotel gives you 24-hours. The would NOT refund my monies so I lost over $500. I made the mistake once and NEVER will again. They are very misleading and you're better off reserving through actual hotel's websites as they will give better discount and cancellation policy. Also, use Amex card when possible as they are better at disputing these types of unreasonable charges. I would give them no rating if that were possible.
I rarely leave reviews but this site is a scam. It looks exactly like you're on the hotels website but you're not! I called for a 150.00 rate and they said with taxes I would pay 280.00. NO WAY! I'm waiting to see if they actually charge my card.
Make sure you're web browser actually says the name of your hotel chain and not reservations.com. They will trick you.
If I could rate 0 stars I would. My wife booked a hotel in England for one night on reservations.com. The confirmation came back with a booking for 15 nights. An immediate call to their customer support resulted in nothing. "You have to call your credit card and refuse the charges" "We can't do anything because (this was Saturday) the hotel manager will not be in until Monday" As if the hotel goes without a manager on duty for two days. Will never use this site again.
I would give less than one star if that was an option. The direct hotel website routed me to reservations.com and I didn't even realize I was using this site to book. It ended up costing so much extra because of the service fees. I called customer service 15 minutes after I realized and tried to cancel my reservation. They said they would look into it and five days later I got an email saying my booking was non refundable. Such a waste of time and money for no reason. Terrible customer service.
Very misleading, unable to obtain itemized receipt for my stay. When I called (multiple times) to speak with a supervisor, of course they were busy with "high volume" calls. I actually had one lady press the keypad on her phone for a solid 3 minutes, to avoid talking to me. They are very rude, and will not provide any information other than when your reservations were book, the stay dates. This company should not be allowed to represent to hotels that they are providing services for.
I paid $147 for 1 night at a Comfort Inn in Binghamton, NY. I went to what I thought was the official site for the hotel. The day I checked in, the hotel agent told me that their typical rate was $92 per night, and that I should be able to get some sort of refund from reservations.com based on this rate. Nope, after several emails back and forth... I knew about the 19.99 tacked on, but not the rest. When I asked why the rate was so high, they responded with "our agents give specialized advice". Bull$#*!! There was no advice- I just reserved a room for 1 night for a funeral. This rate was ridiculously high, and the company is a scam- stay away.
They're scammers. 15 phone calls just today to try to cancel one night. Easily approved by the hotel. They have come up with every excuse to not refund me the money or extend the date in which they will finally refund me. The callers are trained to use all kinds of tactics to make the caller give up trying to get their money back. Horrible people. Evil. Out $500 because of a medical emergency which left me hospitalized. Grounds for cancelling the reservation achieved. Sick people.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!

Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
Answer: Hello Brodie, We have sent you an email this morning regarding your concerns. Please email us directly so we may assist you. Sincerely, Customer Support Reservations.com
Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
